i ordered this thai food during my trip to arizona. while the portions were generous and the price was cheap, the overall experience was just okay. i noticed construction in the kitchen, which didn't inspire much confidence, and my order came in styrofoam containers that made reheating a hassle. the flavors were underwhelming--the chicken was a bit dry and the sauce was pretty oily.

    Spicy Noodle with seafood combo

First time here.. The spicy noodles has really good flavor, I ordered very spicy just under Thai spicy the noodles were not as crispy as I liked.. seafood protein unfortunately did not have as much as I would have wanted which the lady on the phone said was gonna be a few bucks for me 8 is not a few bucks that's crazy to me.. The pad prik king with chicken it had great flavor, I would order this again! All in all the food tasted great but getting charged 8 bucks for the seafood on the spicy noodles really sucked!

Fried, greasy, shrunken and dry chicken satay $14

Poor food quality, misrepresentation of menu items, small portions that are overpriced, very RUDE and confrontational staff (Gommy or similar spelling) that is not aquatinted with the menu or knows how food items are prepared. Be careful if you have allergies or intolerances, they don't care and will just try to sell the item, then lie and deny should there be an issue. We ordered takeout on the phone before close on 1/1/24, around 8:20-8:30 pm. We ordered Chicken Satay and the chicken curry with no onions. We asked if the chicken satay was fried/ cooked with oil, or grilled, because we did not want it if it was fried. The waitress helping us on the phone (Gommy) said it was grilled, but was not 100% sure and said she had to go ask. We were placed on hold as she proceeded to go ask, resumed and assured us it was indeed grilled. It was not. It was fried, dehydrated and oily (see media). We had also ordered the curry without onions. She repeated the order to confirm, but we got curry with onions... and fried chicken skewers that were shy of 4 oz and cost $14. The next day I called to request to speak to a manager. I spoke to the same waitress that took our order the night before, and casually explained the issue, but she got extremely defensive and spoke with an unprofessional tone and attitude, denying everything or any fault. From the beginning I gave her a disclaimer that I will not be arguing with her and wished to speak to a manager, but she continued saying she did everything right and wasn't her problem/ fault. To note, when my Fiance placed the order on speaker phone, I was present and heard everything that she tried to deny. It's these kinds of employees that ruin small businesses, and it would be in the owner's best interest to know how guests are treated and how concerns are handled by them. Also look at how our satay looked compared to another customer (last photo!) clearly not the same quality and that in itself warrants a refund.

    Coco soup with roach legs

I've gone back and forth on leaving this review because we used to LOVE this place and hate to tarnish their reputation from one really bad experience, but my last trip there was a public health issue that needs to be addressed. We used to go at least twice a month and enjoyed the food. The curry and drunken noodles were our favorites and never disappointed! The staff has always been lovely and attentive. We did have occasional hiccups with the sticky rice not tasting fresh/soapy or using frozen mango but having worked so many years in this industry it wasn't a big deal to me. Fast forward to last Thursday. I wasn't feeling well so my partner picked me up a cup of Coco soup. I ate almost half the container before I realized a floating cockroach leg....then I found two more.... All different sizes which tells me there were multiple roaches in this soup. I can't tell you how disgusted I was. The woman working there was apologetic and refunded our money, and also offered us new food but I couldn't bring myself to eat anything out of that kitchen again. Unfortunately we won't be back to our formerly beloved Thai place because I can't rid this image from my mind. I'm leaving this review to hold the owner accountable. Eric W, you need to clean your kitchen and reevaluate your kitchen staff. Totally unacceptable.

Delicious food I am so happy to have found Sa Bai Modern Thai restraunt. This place has delicious food, quick service, at a great value. A hidden gem in a great neighborhood On this visit my lunch companion and I ordered the Tom Yum soup, and the Pad See Ew with chicken and everything was delicious. The Pad SeecEw was full of layered flavors and spices. The medium heat was spicy but just right. Some of the best Pad See Ew I've had in a long time. The soup and fried rice was outstanding, perfectly balanced. I can't wait to revisit and try the egg rolls, Krab puffs and Thai lemonade. If you're searching for great Thai food then you must go here . Both dishes were large enough to share. We will be back

Pad Thai with tofu and vegetables
    Haneen O.

On a review writing "spree". I was in the area so I stopped by for takeout. It wasn't busy and I was able to order right away. I got their Pad Thai with tofu and added vegetables, and chose my spice level as hot. It was ready in about 10 minutes and I was out the door. I got home and began eating. It was more watery than usual and the tofu didn't have much flavor. Some of the noodles didn't get cooked well in the sauce (looked dry and were clumped together) but tasted cooked. The veggies were a good mix, and the spice level was fine. It was a good quantity, but not the best dish I've had. Service was quick and friendly and prices were average. I noticed they have a drive thru pickup window (not sure if it's for ordering too but I don't think so). It did fulfill my craving so that was good!

The staff here are so kind it really made the experience of having to wait a bit so much better! The gentleman at the front door recommended a wine bar around the corner to wait at after we got on the list, which was a cute divey spot. The food was delicious, we loved the papaya salad so much, there were so many flavors of spicy and tangy, and the papaya itself was very refreshing. We had the Pad kee mao and Panang curry which were also delicious. For the chicken pad kee mao we requested it to be gluten free and they gave us the same rice noodles as the Pad Thai and a slightly different sauce which was so darn good! The chicken was very tender. When the Panang curry said it came with beef, I didn't know what to think but after a single bite I was a huge fan! So many flavors hit you at once and the beef was so incredible, it was falling part. I also ordered the savory cocktail option (I can't remember the name) which had cucumber vodka, fish sauce, mint, onion, and some other goodies, and wow! It changed my life. Highly highly recommend. Overall would definitely come back here, we were a walk in on a Saturday night and had an hour and a half wait to get in.

It's a small plate type of restaurant and we tried 5 different ones: 1-egg noodles with pork belly...delicious!!! The pork belly pieces were so tender and the noodles were perfect. 2-fried bamboo with sweet chili sauce...amazing! I would love to have a bag of these and just eat them like chips while watching TV...LOL! 3-stir-fry bok choy with tofu in a garlicky sauce...one of our biggest surprises of the evening! What a wonderful way to eat your greens, along with the most flavorful tofu I've ever had. (We actually ordered it twice.) 4-scallop crudo with garlic and lemon sauce...refreshing! I'm not a big scallop person, but these were so fresh and so good! 5-fried chicken with a sweet/savory dipping sauce...very good! The chicken came like wings, very crispy and juicy. Everything we had was incredible! Unfortunately, I'm allergic to curry and mango, so our choices were somewhat limited. I'm just glad we were able to find these dishes that were so awesome. The only downside is the parking. It's street parking, but there are a bunch of apartments all around, so the spots were very limited. There are some pay parking lots, but they're pretty far from the restaurant. Hubby drove around and did find a spot about a block and a half down a side street. But, to be honest, it was a nice little walk back to the car after eating. What a fun time and a delectable experience!!

We parked right around the corner on 2nd street which has a super cool 3-story office building made out of shipping containers. Neighboring buildings have painted murals. Service was prompt, attentive and polite. Dishes are served and are intended to be shared. We ordered: NAW TAWT fried bamboo, Thai basil, spicy & savory crushed peanut nam jim dipping sauce -which is quite large and monotonous for two people. For 4-6 people it's worth a try but this is to much fried bamboo for two people. PAD KWANG TOON stir-fried bok choy, tofu, garlic, Thai chili- a mild dish. KAENG PHET FAK TAWNG hand-pounded curry paste, hand-squeezed coconut milk, kabocha squash, bamboo shoots, makheua eggplant, Thai basil- delicious with a bit of spice just shy of medium. YAM SAI BAI seaweed salad, hand-pounded curry paste, crispy anchovies, toasted coconut, makrut lime leaf, shallot, green mango- delicious and assertive and again to much for just 2 people. We took more than half home. We also ordered the madame madame cocktail which was slightly tart and delicious. Give this restaurant a try.

As a proud Yelp Elite, I decided to give this place a chance because the reviews were the best I saw in the city! The place was busy on a Sunday night and it is small but I never say customers waiting too long. There were two larger parties seated so the food took some time but nothing outrageous. We started with the calamari, spring rolls, and crab wontons. The calamari were the biggest I've ever seen and very delicious! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the spring rolls or crab wontons. I feel like those are hard to get wrong but I was not a fan of the cream cheese that was used and it was a lot of it, barely any imitation crab. For entrees, I had the spicy basil and substituted ground chicken for chicken breast, my personal preference. I ordered level 2 spice but it was still a bit spicy for me. Trying a new Thai place is always hit or miss with spice levels so I actually thought I was being safe with 2. Additionally, the chicken was so bland. Some Thai places season their chicken, some do not and unfortunately Pad Thai Cafe missed that mark. My partner ordered the short rib curry dish and my goodness, it smelled like heaven and tasted just as good. I don't eat beef but had to taste it and it was divine! He also ordered spice level 2 and his dish was not as spicy as mine. Overall, the rest of the party enjoyed their food and there were good flavors there so I'd definitely recommend the entrees, not so much the starters.
