Arguably one of the weirdest dining experiences I've ever had. We were looking for a dog-friendly space to eat and drink, after our first spot was a flop. So based on the great reviews, we headed here. The outdoor patio is a small deck, filled with with what appear to be makeshift tables made of covered propane firepits--quite odd, considering the seats and "tables" are essentially at the same height and you're left eating your meal out of what feels like your lap. It's not so much an issue if you're just drinking, but truly an odd setup for those who wish to dine as well. As far as the menu, I guess you could say there's literally something for everyone--everything from burgers, to gumbo, to burritos, to hush puppies, and beyond. It was like eating around the world! There's also quite an extensive cocktail menu, but then no menus for what's on draft except inside the bar itself...I guess overall, it felt like everything was a bit all over the place and discombobulated. Food was a solid 3.5-4/5. The hush puppies were phenomenal (would highly recommend), the lumpia on special was pretty good, and if you walk away still hungry after ordering the nachos...well, that's your fault! ;) The nachos were massive and more than enough to split for 2. If you need an example of the dictionary definition, boom, this is it. Second, they have great food. So boom, second key point why this place is 5-stars of love. The service is great. Sure counter service, but the folks behind the counter, actually come by to check on you, fill your water, and chat with you. Like that's honestly great. The food, tonight, it was Awesome Fried Chicken, BBQ Brisket Sandwich, and Brussel Sprouts. Each with defined and delicious flavours, it's fine dining and makes you smack your friend. The fried chicken was made fresh, so it was hot, juicy, crispy and dripping. These are all positives. The Brussels were cooked like they mean it, with meat bits, onion and seasonings that scream eat me, now. They were tender and perfectly cooked. The wife had the brisket sandwich, and she told me it was darn tasty, and messy, and nicely filling (good portion). So for our first outing for 2022, after watching that terrible King5/T-Mobile Space Needle cluster-f of a show the night before, this meal was basically our true ringing in the new year. read more

Awesome experience and delicious food and drinks during my first visit on Sat., 8/17/24!! My friend and I sat on the outdoor covered patio and had an EPIC and ELECTRIFYING night (details further below). I devoured the BBQ ribs with mac salad and coleslaw, everything was fabulous! The BBQ sauce had a bit of a kick/spice, but not overpowering. The meat fell off the bones. My friend got the fried chicken and said it was delicious. The chicken looked like the perfect blend of juicy inside and crispy outside. The staff also surprised us with a free dessert, the tropical tiramsu, and the flavors were so unexpected and fantastic. Handcrafted cocktails were also on point and yummy! My friend ordered the Dark and Stormy cocktail and boy was it appropriate! There was a massive summer thunder and lightning storm and we comfortably watched it from the safety of the covered patio. Staff kept coming out to watch, too, because it was the biggest, loudest and most lightning-filled storm we've seen in years. We stayed dry on the patio but after about 1 hour of watching the storm while eating we decided to move inside. Turned out we were the only customers left. Essentially, the whole staff was there just for us. We all talked about the storm, shared squeals of delight as the storm roared overhead. It was a night to remember. A Fremont native recommended this restaurant. Went on a Thursday night and welcomed by live music. We ordered at bar and sat ourselves. I ordered the Shrimp and grits, which might be the best I've ever tasted. Loved the Cajun flavor. Husband had the truffle burger. The first beer was flat but staff exchanged it for no charge. My friends and I ordered a bit of everything on the menu to share. "OMG! Try this, now try that!" This place is insane! The kitchen here knows what they are doing. Our food came out hot, fast, and cooked to perfection. Great portions at good prices, excellent flavors, absolutely DELICIOUS! We were stuffed. The beer and cocktails menus are REALLY good too. Bonus: There was plenty of seating, restaurant was very clean, and the staff were friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable. Open since 2019, my first visit was in 6/25/20 due to a post from another Yelper named Debbie. It was during the pandemic, masked and double vaccinated, I vowed to support as many indie businesses as possible. This was quite the find! I visited six times for over a year ordering takeout and later enjoying happy hour food/beverage specials at the bar. I can vouch that Rodel and his entire crew are very welcoming, provide refreshing cocktails, and consistently delicious food. You definitely leave full, satisfied, and upbeat. This seventh visit was inspired by another Yelper named Mona with whom I shared my favorite fried chicken list earlier this afternoon. I was hangry, it was pouring rain which meant most road arterials would be traffic hell. The Homie just finished a dentist appointment and was equally hungry. We decided to venture from Shoreline's North City to S/T Hooligans in BalMont/Frelard along crazy busy Leary. Found street parking, left the not 21+ Homie in the car, carefully navigated tree debris and puddles in the downpour, and entered shortly after 1600 for some major Happy Hour takeout. Waved at Rodel, S/T Hooligans owner, while another friendly staff member took my order at the bar. I asked about their outdoor seating, which I learned was a fine covered deck structure with fire pits. Can't be indoors 21+, but outdoors is all ages. Score! Order placed, went back outside to get The Homie. Eating tasty, made to order items onsite, better than takeout on a really cold, blustery late afternoon. We were dressed in layers and and even with a copious pitcher of ice water, our table fire pit kept us warm and toasty. Soon the delicious eats arrived straight from the kitchen. Very generous portions are served for Happy Hour! *Chipotle Garlic Fries ($6) were hot, crispy and seasoned, provided with on point dipping sauce. *Jalepeno Cheddar Hush Puppies ($8) were hot, savory, with that bright citrusy, sweet dipping sauce garnished with lemon zest. *Gangster Gumbo ($11) - highly recommended and perfect on a PacNW wet, chilly day! Very filling, chockful of ingredients and served with a toasted slice of artisan bread. *SpiSeattle Fried Chicken with pickled cukes ($14) is award winning menu item made with Draper Valley chicken fried to perfection and coated with a sweet, smoky, spicy Hooligans habanero glaze. Chicken is juicy and succulent. *Wrapped it up with a warm seasonal dessert, Roasted Sugar Pumpkin Bread Pudding with a scoop of Olympic Mountain Vanilla Ice Cream ($9). Got the Shrimp & Grits, only positive was the egg was surprisingly crispy but the dish was insanely salty. There is an overwhelming amount of very salty sauce that left no room for the shrimp and grits themselves to breathe. The fried chicken is as good as you hear and is presented there ways with a beautiful hot honey. The vegetarian burrito was much better than expected - well seasoned beans and a satisfying bite complete with five sauce options. Here's where I get serious. Tiramisu. I do not normally like it. Was staying in Ballard and decided to take the walk over to S/T Hooligan's. We got here in time for a special they were running which gave a side item (Fried Brussel Sprouts), a main (spicy fried chicken entree), a dessert (caramel bread pudding), and a beverage (blackberry sage cider I think). The brussel sprouts were crispy, salty, and had an unexpected surprise (some raisins soaked in bacon grease) that made this dish an instant hit and set the bar high for the rest of the meal. The spicy chicken was crispy, sweet and juicy, with just the right amount of spice. The homemade pickles were incredible. The slaw was juicy and paired perfectly with the chicken. And the macaroni salad reminded me how good macaroni salad is when done well. This dish was recommended by the bartender (did not catch her name unfortunately). The bread pudding was the perfect finish to this meal. Sweet, moist, and hot. Paired with the ice cream it was a perfect end to the meal. Everything is ordered at the bar and is brought to you when ready. The service was exceptional and I heavily relied on recommendations that never disappointed. I ate on the patio which gave a nice shaded experience, with a comfortable outdoor environment. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates quality in every aspect in a restaurant. read more

This place is bomb! It's kind of small so I'm glad we got a table. I went here with my friend to catch up. Really busy inside so that's always a good sign. I ordered the wings and Brussels sprouts to share. My friend order the gumbo and baked Mac with mushroom. Everything was so good. I love how crispy the Brussels sprouts were, came out like chips with a Sriracha Mayo and the wings had amazing flavor. I really enjoy the gumbo as well but honestly didn't care too much about the Mac. It was good but a tad oily hahaha. I definitely want to come back. It had a great vibe. Walked in here on Wednesday for dinner after a long drive from Mt Baker area. Saw the board at the entrance which says "Voted the best chicken sandwich in WA by Insider/Yelp" and knew we had come to the right spot. When we went through the menu we loved everything and were so confused so finally decided to order - Cajun Shrimp and Grits, Cajun Mussels, Chipotle Garlic Fries, Jalapeno Cheddar Hush Puppies and the Roasted Pork Adobo sandwich (yes unfortunately we did not try any of their Awesome Fried Chicken but there is always a next time - atleast at this place for sure). The roasted pork adobo sandwich was delicious and today they served it in a burger bun instead of a baguette. The shrimp and grits were amazing too. The hush puppies and the chipotle garlic fries were great. The mussels were okay and lacked cajun seasoning so the flavors were not quite there for me. They have a nice patio seating and limited indoor seating. Service was a little slow but I guess that is cos they make many of these items from scratch and it is totally worth the wait. How could S/T Hooligans exist not far from my home and I don't know about it?? Just goes to show you, in a city that is full of amazing bars and restaurants, sometimes you overlook the great ones. Came on a Tuesday and it was fairly busy at 4:30, folks outside, a few inside, generally chill vibe. The music though, is a serious bonus. This anglophile is obsessed with the golden age of Britpop so to realize the band is named after a Smith's song put me in a tizzy. Back to the food and drink. I had a wonderful local hard kombucha and my friend had a cocktail made with ST's home brew concoction. It was AMAZING. We also ordered some killer hush puppies with sweet and sour (nothing short of a revelation) and a fried chicken sandwich for my boo. Just to clarify, I was bringing the sandwich home so it had 10 minutes to travel and still, still it brought tears to his eyes. He stopped eating midway to say, "this might be the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten." Dang, that's good. They were voted the best fried chicken in Washington state in 2020 and it definitely lives up to the hype. The southern style fried chicken is well seasoned and super juicy, even the breast! I thought the bal-mont burger was the real surprise. The pork belly on top really sends it over! Gumbo is solid but the brisket sandwich was unfortunately underwhelming. In the outer edge of Freemont as you go towards Ballard is this cool little place worth checking out. First, it's a small place with a great back patio. When the weather is nice definitely grab an outdoor table. Know that you order food and beverage at the bar, but they bring it to you. On to the chow... So many good options on the menu it was hard to choose. With three of us we ordered a bunch and then shared, which is always a fun way to go. By far the civeche was the best thing we had. They don't call it that, its shrimp something but it's definitely civeche and its bright citrusy and delicious. Served with perfectly salted chips. We the had the roasted brussel sprouts. Crispy and well seasoned. A hearty appetizer for sure. We then ordered the fried chicken - their signature dish. 3 pieces - juicy, with a crispy crust and served with creamy sauce on the side. I prefer a more textured crust, but definitely tasty. Finally we ended with the nachos with barbacoa. Huge portion on this one and probably was the only thing we needed to order. Fully loaded. The hush puppies were really good and tasted like slightly sweet cornbread. The gumbo was my favorite dish, very flavorful. The spicy wings tasted good too and were just a mild spice level. Came here one weekend when I was craving fried chicken and it hit the spot! Service was friendly and though we had intended to have take out to be Covid safe, the waitress told us there was seating out back. It was covered but open on the sides with good ventilation. I had a craving for some really good shrimp and grits on a rainy day and remembered seeing S/T Hooligans on Yelp/recommendations before. After a quick look at their menu, I placed an order on their website (super easy online ordering for delivery and take out!). I decided on the shrimp and grits, the fried chicken, and the ribs (husband wanted the ribs instead of the pork adobo sandwich) Along with the hush puppies. Everything was amazing and SO flavorful. The shrimp and grits? Hit the spot. I loved the amount of spice they have in there. I couldn't stop eating it. We loved the bread they included. The fried chicken was really good as well, I'm sure if we ate there, it would have been even more amazing. It came with some sort of sauce, that we didn't use, because the chicken was so good by itself. (pro tip, if you get the shrimp and grits too, def dip some of that chicken into the shrip and grits gravy. so good). The coleslaw was really good, not dry nor bland. We preferred it over the mac salad, although we still enjoyed both. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. The cheddar &jalapeno hush puppies were good, had a slight twist to them that we enjoyed. It also had a bit of a sweet sauce that was on the bottom of it. The hush puppies itself had a bit of kick from the jalapeno. My husband and I both would eat here again, 100%. Can't go wrong with fried brussels with some nice aioli. The hush puppies were a nice mixture of savory plus the sweetness of the citrus glaze - almost reminiscent of like an orange chicken. I really enjoyed myself. The staff was professional, the food was tasty and affordable, and the location was key. When I first arrived they greatest me right away and immediately tried to seat us and take care of us even tho they were almost at full. Maybe 2 tables open. We sat in the back patio area which is somewhat shared by another bar or two which only adds to the party. Some people were playing corn hole in the center of the outdoor space and it also sounded like people were playing beer pong but I couldn't see to confirm. The Food we ordered was delicious. I ordered a BBQ sandwich which was probably the messyest BBQ sandwich I've ever eaten. My date ordered a seafood soup salsa dish, which was so good and spicy, but seriously needed more shrimp. I only noticed 2 in the whole dish. We ended up splitting the BBQ sandwich and sharing the ceviche. The staff and even the customers were friendly. The customer friendly part I'm sure depends on the day. But we conversed with a few of the folk sitting near us and one of the groups even paid for our dessert. What a treat. This pub is located off of Leary Way in Seattle/Ballard. The inside is lively and their service is fantastic. The comfort food they make is top-notch. I tried their fried chicken, chicken sandwich, and gumbo. All were very good, but my favorite was the chicken sandwich. The meat was crispy and the buns were toasted to perfection.
