First time trying this place and we got lucky to get right in! It's a small and cozy restaurant with friendly people. The food was absolutely amazing. Loved the eggplant and mozzarella. So tasty and I'm a very picky eater when it comes to eggplant. The arugula salad with prosciutto had so much flavor and was very refreshing. The steak was the special for the night. It was crispy and cooked well on the outside and tender on the inside. Sizzled to perfection! The pizza we got was called Nostra ( spicy soppressata, honey, roasted peppers, and fresh ricotta). Soooooo good. Came here with friends and ordered a whole bunch of items off the menu, Burrata, pizzas, etc etc - literally everything was excellent. We brought our own wine which paired perfectly with the meal. Inside can get a little tight and they didn't take reservations (there was 4 of us) but it was truly worth the wait. Cliffnotes: 4/5 because the entire atmosphere is elegant. I give it five stars off of ambience alone. Something about a small Italian-esque shop in a small town where the train quietly chop-choo's through and I'm sitting under the fairy lights makes me feel like I'm traveling abroad and I love that. Food:4/5 their pizza are good enough to share for two and the crust is so soft and fluffy. It's a beautiful dough but my American palate loves a crispy crunchy dough. I don't know if that's blasphemy to the Italian pizza community but I mean no harm! Hehe. We ordered the Nostra (pizza) and Trevigiana (salad) to share for two. The Nostra was an experience because the meat was similar to a very fancy spicy pepperoni. It didn't really compliment the pizza for me. Also, I found that the pizza with a bit less for the cheese made the pizza more enjoyable. My favorite bite was just the red onion cheese and honey folded together on that dough. *chef kiss hand* The trevigiana while light and healthy, the balsamic glaze it was not but more so olive oil and salt. The dressing was underwhelming and not what I expected, had it had that citrus flavor and the salad a pear or two more, I would've enjoyed it more. Drinks 5/5: We started with a Pellegrino and then was introduced to a blood orange sparkling drink imported from Italy. Ooo~ it was delicious and not overly sweet. If I remember correctly there was no added sugar to the drink- that's some good soil they have over there!!! Lol I definitely recommend that as a NA beverage. Overall, with the vibe of the restaurant, the nice service from our waitress Christina and the Manager that night and the rest of the staff. Place- small tight space with table set elbow to elbow closed together. Unless you get the outdoor seating, it's a little more spacious.They don't take reservations, first come first serve. After fifteen minutes in line for the next available table,We didn't want to wait another twenty minutes for the outdoor table. We sat inside. But once the food starts to arrive, we forgot how tight the space is. Pizza was amazing!!We order the one with tomato and truffle, thee cheese was oozing out of the crust. Pappardelle with mushrooms and truffle, cooked al dente and tasty! Mesclun greens salad with goat cheese was in large portion. After seating multiple parties who came and put their name down *after* us, we brought it to the hostess's attention. Instead of being understanding and admitting her fault, she began to raise her voice, called us liars and then ... refused us service. I understand the service industry is high stress and juggling a few different tasks at once, but the way we were screamed at then rudely dismissed is enough to never return. Great atmosphere and food! If you're looking for fresh and quality ingredients then this is your place. I've been here a few times and I only have positive things to say. Since the restaurant is small the ambiance is very romantic and intimate during dinner. Each table has a candle and the lights are dim. Perfect for date night! It's also BYOB who doesn't love that?! For starters, I highly recommend their cheese board which comes with different cheese, prosciutto, olives, thin bread sticks, and honey. The prosciutto is to die for! If you want something less expensive than I would suggest the caprese di bufala. As for their pizza, I've only tried their margherita which was bomb! Lovely little quaint Italian place in the downtown of Ridgewood! I stumbled on it and stopped in. The staff was nice and friendly. I loved the Rucolina (arugula) salad although it was a tad sharp in the taste of the dressing but that may be my delicate palate. The margherita pizza was nice thin crust although its best to not have it sweat in the box where it got soggy. I'll try other pizzas next time I'm in town. This is probably the best neopolitan-style pizza I've had in Bergen County so far! Their dough is so light, airy, and perfectly chewy. The ingredients they use are super fresh as well.
