This place was in my list since a long time. I tried going here a few times but since they don't take reservations, I was put in a long wait time and couldn't try. But finally the time came! During winters the restaurant seems so cozy, rustic and perfect for a date night. And with summers they have outdoor seatings which looks a lot of fun too! It's a BYOB place. Coming to main part - FOOD We started off with a nice refreshing salad Siciliana - we gobbled up on it and it was finished within five mins! :) For pizzas, we ordered with class Margherita and Nostra (without the meat) - devoured both the pizzas! The wood fired pizzas were mind blowing and outstanding! The ricotta was so fresh - absolutely amazing! The staff is working continuously with a smiling face and so friendly!
THE GOOD ---------------- + Pizza and food in general are delicious!!! ++++ Polpette (meatballs in marinara) were amazing. Lots of marinara and came out piping hot and there were 6 in total. ++++ Gamberi (shrimp, garlic, breadcrumbs, lemon) was also fantastic. The shrimp were buried underneath a layer of baked breadcrumbs and the garlicky flavor of the appetizer was soooo good. ++++ Regina Margherita was an EXCELLENT artisan-style pizza. Pizza was super fresh and hot when it came out. It was slightly bigger than a personal pie and delicious, however, it was a bit floppy in that the dough gave out to the heaviness of the cheese. The only difference between this and the regular Margherita is the cherry tomatoes - feel free to skip the tomatoes. ++++ Capricciosa (basically a Margherita pizza, but with mushrooms, artichoke, olives and prosciutto) - Once again, excellent, excellent pizza. It was a little bit top heavy in that there were so many ingredients on it, which made it extra floppy. Would have preferred the dough to be a bit sturdier to support the cheese and toppings. + Service was 10/10! All of the employees were friendly including the manager, who took the order of every table! Food arrived fast and empty plates were removed fairly quickly. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Spacing, spacing, spacing. Restaurant was VERY tight. To get in and out of the inside seats of the tables, the tables had to be moved out so room could be made to walk in and out. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = No reservations are taken and you must arrive in person to put your name down for a table. = Was crowded on a Friday evening right after opening for dinner at 5 PM. If you're not present when the doors open, you'll miss the 1st dinner seating and have to wait about 1 hour for the 2nd dinner seating.
- Restaurant was already packed when we arrived at 5:20p on a frigid Friday evening--if you miss the first seating at opening, be prepared to wait close to an hour; tables did open up throughout our meal but were immediately filled by new diners - The outdoor fire pit was a lifesaver and kept us warm and toasty while we waited outside - Very small, cozy, intimate space--tables are close enough that you're essentially sharing with your neighbors; removing even one table would make things more comfortable, as servers currently have to pull tables out to let diners in and out - Holiday music was playing in the background, but mixes in and out with the neighboring conversations - Service was extremely friendly from start to finish--genuinely warm hospitality - Food was PHENOMENAL--everything we ordered was absolutely delicious: we initially wanted the Polpo (octopus), but since they were out, our server recommended the Gamberi (shrimp), which was EXCELLENT--succulent shrimp topped with savory toasted breadcrumbs; Polpette (meatballs) were fresh, soft, and moist; Regina Margherita pizza arrived hot and loaded with a light, tangy tomato sauce and gooey mozzarella; Capricciosa pizza came out just as hot and fresh, offering a more earthy, savory flavor--personally would've preferred more mushrooms and fewer olives, but the flavors still married beautifully; we customized the Rigatoni by removing the spice and adding ground sweet sausage--the pasta was cooked PERFECTLY al dente with a satisfying bite, and the sauce was rich and flavorful without being overly heavy - Pizza is quite floppy, though the crust itself is soft and pleasantly chewy - A credit card fee applies here
We had a fantastic experience! This cozy Italian spot is a BYOB gem where the food truly shines. For just $100, we enjoyed a full spread: a fresh arugula salad, savory meatballs, pizza, pasta, and dessert--everything was delicious. Though they don't take reservations, we were seated immediately. I can't wait to go back!
We visited on a Saturday night, knowing that this place doesn't take reservations and tends to get very busy. We arrived around 5:45 PM and were told there would be about an hour wait for a table. Although there were outdoor tables available, it was too cold to sit outside, so we decided to wait. To pass the time, we grabbed a drink at Steel Wheel nearby, and sure enough, our table was ready in exactly an hour. The restaurant is a bit tight inside, but our waiter was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The four of us ordered three pizzas, an appetizer, and two pastas to share. The pizza was just as delicious as I remembered. I hadn't tried the pasta before, but the vodka sauce pasta was absolutely outstanding--the spice level was perfect, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Overall, this is a fantastic spot, but be sure to arrive early to avoid a long wait!
Worth the wait for outdoor seating on a beautiful night! Pizza is delicious. Order the shrimp appetizer! It was amazing.
Great speed and service. The pizza is some of the best in NJ. The outdoor seating is great in the summer with music and the inside is nice in the winter.
It is like being in Napoli, Italy! Fresh homemade pasta! We were a party of 10! For appetizerswe had gamberi, torreta, and polpo! The shrimp, eggplants and octopus were all delicious. Octopus was tender and soft! Eggplants and fresh mozzarella was to die for! And the shrimp in cast iron was so tasty! For pizza, we had a margherita! It was like being in Napoli Italy! The dough was soft and airy! The pasta was freshly made! We had the tagliatelle. The bolognese sauce was perfect! Not sour or sweet! The pasta was soft, thick, and al dente! , We had the menu special, steak with potatoes seared in the pizza oven! We had it medium rare! It was cooked perfectly! We brought our own birthday cake which they charged a $25 cut fee! We wished it was waved off for the amount of food we ordered. We had two of each appetizers we ordered and a pizza and pasta for each couple! The place is a BYOB and we brought 5 bottles of wine that we finished! This saved us a lot on the alcohol bill! All and all, this place had great service and great food! Also, the olive oil tasted fresh from Italy! It was great with the bread!
Our friends had hyped up this place so our expectations were high! Thankfully we got seated right away and ordered Nostro and Bianca . The place is small and the seating is very tight so we relished the smell of the nearby pizzas while waiting for ours. The service was fast and the pizzas no doubt were one of the best and I see myself coming here over and over again in future. Completely blown away with the taste and freshness of the cheese. I gobbled them within minutes. Wish they took reservations, heard they are super busy almost always. Anyway perfect carb load for a Sunday afternoon
Absolutely delicious!! We tried 2 of the freshly oven baked pizzas. Super thin crust and just melted in your mouth! Margarita was great and the "Nostra" with spicy sopressata, red onion, ricotta, roasted red pepper and hot honey was amazing. Loved the meatballs!! A must order!

Casual pizza spot with great service and good music. The ingredients are so fresh. My one feedback is that the pizzas can be very soggy from the toppings. The center crust was very floppy and soaked in oils from the toppings but the flavor was still excellent
Reviews are generally positive. People praise the fresh Neapolitan pizza, friendly and attentive service, and cozy, lively atmosphere. The BYOB policy is also appreciated.

The interior is quite small, and there isn't much outdoor seating, so be prepared to wait. The wait is more than worth it though! Very cozy and authentic ambiance, absolutely delicious pizza, and attentive wait staff. Cannot recommend enough. This is my favorite local pizza/Italian spot! read more

If you notice a little pizza parlor with a long line and wondered what the hype was about, wonder no more. This place doles out seriously good brick oven pizzas that are unbeatable. We sat outdoors and received prompt service. Would return for sure! read more

Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. Dinner started out by asking us still or sparkling water. Ordered super fast and had ordered an arugula salad and two pizzas for a party of 4 and it was well enough to be fed and the check was around $54. Even with a full house we were frequently checked on and attended to. We even got the check in a cool box! My only complaint is that it was a tiny bit stuffy. I don't mind the dim lights or packed seating but it was definitely a little uncomfortably warm. Rucolina salad- a fresh, peppery bite of arugula with olive oil and shaved parm. They even salt and peppered the greens and had cute little tongs to serve it. Goes super well with the creaminess of the fior di latte and ricotta on our pizzas- I was topping this on my slices every now and then and also enjoying it by itself. Capricciosa- I don't like olives but I didn't mind the olives in the bite. This was also my first time having artichoke and I didn't mind it either! This was my "trying new things" pizza and I would get it again. Nostra- I honestly ordered this one for the table because I had a craving for hot honey. They are NOT joking with the amount of hot honey they give you. The bites are saucy and mildly hot and creamy and salty and so perfectly balanced. Both pizzas also had a very bubbly and light airy crust that didn't make me feel disgusting after finishing the pizza slices. In fact I didn't feel like I needed to nap or anything of the sort after this meal. I'm surprised I never came here living in the area almost my whole life but I'm glad to have discovered it! read more

First time trying this place and we got lucky to get right in! It's a small and cozy restaurant with friendly people. The food was absolutely amazing. Loved the eggplant and mozzarella. So tasty and I'm a very picky eater when it comes to eggplant. The arugula salad with prosciutto had so much flavor and was very refreshing. The steak was the special for the night. It was crispy and cooked well on the outside and tender on the inside. Sizzled to perfection! The pizza we got was called Nostra ( spicy soppressata, honey, roasted peppers, and fresh ricotta). It was spicy with a sweet taste. Loved that combination, it was very different from most pizzas I've tried. Will certainly go back there and try the dessert. We were just way too full! read more

One word, PIZZA. So great here. Yes the place is small, yes the tables are close together, think upper east side Manhattan dining. But the food is so worth it. Amazing! I am not a huge pizza fan but this place changed my mind. I loved it. The spicy, hot shrimp appetizer was great. I enjoy smaller portions so you can fill full, not overstuffed thanksgiving day full. My pizza was perfect. The crust, toppings, cheese, everything. My husband inhaled his, and he is more of a "dollar slice kind of guy" pizza person. The service was great, and we actually got the last two top there so no waiting. Bring wine, eat pizza and enjoy. read more
Place- small tight space with table set elbow to elbow closed together. Unless you get the outdoor seating, it's a little more spacious.They don't take reservations, first come first serve. After fifteen minutes in line for the next available table,We didn't want to wait another twenty minutes for the outdoor table. We sat inside. But once the food starts to arrive, we forgot how tight the space is. Pizza was amazing!!We order the one with tomato and truffle, thee cheese was oozing out of the crust. Pappardelle with mushrooms and truffle, cooked al dente and tasty! Mesclun greens salad with goat cheese was in large portion. Will be back to try pizza with other toppings and their house made Sangria. read more

Cliffnotes: 4/5 because the entire atmosphere is elegant. I give it five stars off of ambience alone. Something about a small Italian-esque shop in a small town where the train quietly chop-choo's through and I'm sitting under the fairy lights makes me feel like I'm traveling abroad and I love that. Food:4/5 their pizza are good enough to share for two and the crust is so soft and fluffy. It's a beautiful dough but my American palate loves a crispy crunchy dough. I don't know if that's blasphemy to the Italian pizza community but I mean no harm! Hehe. We ordered the Nostra (pizza) and Trevigiana (salad) to share for two. The Nostra was an experience because the meat was similar to a very fancy spicy pepperoni. It didn't really compliment the pizza for me. Also, I found that the pizza with a bit less for the cheese made the pizza more enjoyable. My favorite bite was just the red onion cheese and honey folded together on that dough. *chef kiss hand* The trevigiana while light and healthy, the balsamic glaze it was not but more so olive oil and salt. The dressing was underwhelming and not what I expected, had it had that citrus flavor and the salad a pear or two more, I would've enjoyed it more. Drinks 5/5: We started with a Pellegrino and then was introduced to a blood orange sparkling drink imported from Italy. Ooo~ it was delicious and not overly sweet. If I remember correctly there was no added sugar to the drink- that's some good soil they have over there!!! Lol I definitely recommend that as a NA beverage. Overall, with the vibe of the restaurant, the nice service from our waitress Christina and the Manager that night and the rest of the staff. The atmosphere was awesome. The Decore was really cool..The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It's a small place, so if you're going with a large group call ahead. The food was delicious. The Basil pesto sauce pizza was on point. Their meat balls were full of flavor. Definitely planning on return soon. Friday nights was packed. Great atmosphere and food! If you're looking for fresh and quality ingredients then this is your place. I've been here a few times and I only have positive things to say. Since the restaurant is small the ambiance is very romantic and intimate during dinner. Each table has a candle and the lights are dim. Perfect for date night! It's also BYOB who doesn't love that?! For starters, I highly recommend their cheese board which comes with different cheese, prosciutto, olives, thin bread sticks, and honey. The prosciutto is to die for! If you want something less expensive than I would suggest the caprese di bufala. As for their pizza, I've only tried their margherita which was bomb! The pizza style is coal fired so if that's not your thing then would order something else. Overall, I highly recommend coming here! read more

Lovely little quaint Italian place in the downtown of Ridgewood! I stumbled on it and stopped in. The staff was nice and friendly. I loved the Rucolina (arugula) salad although it was a tad sharp in the taste of the dressing but that may be my delicate palate. The margherita pizza was nice thin crust although its best to not have it sweat in the box where it got soggy. I'll try other pizzas next time I'm in town. The blood orange sangria was fruity and fresh. Will definely return; I appreciate when establishments turn out not to be overrated! read more

This review is only for the Margarita Pizza: too salty. The crust is too thin and in the middle, the pizza looks like a hairless cat, since the mozzarella is falling off, when you grab a slice. The mozzarella is too chewy, and the sauce almost non-existent. I left the place with a bitter taste in my mouth. Hopefully the owners can improve on the quality, because the place has an inviting, cozy feel. read more

Probably the only place in North Jersey I would go to eat pizza. Environment is very warm and cozy, staff was friendly, and food was amazing. We got the Crudaiola pizza (white pizza) which was so fresh and light and absolutely delicious, one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The Toscana was also phenomenal and a great choice for someone looking for a classic tomato sauce pizza. Definitely will be coming back! read more
My favorite Neapolitan-style pizza to date. Every time I go, I try a different pie, and it's consistently delicious. The pizza dough is so soft and airy and has great flavor. It's a smaller restaurant and because everyone knows this place is the bomb, it can take a while to get seated (even for two people), but once you do, service is fast and the pies come out quickly. read more

This is probably the best neopolitan-style pizza I've had in Bergen County so far! Their dough is so light, airy, and perfectly chewy. The ingredients they use are super fresh as well. So far, I've had their: - Crudaiola (5/5): This one had mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, shaved parmigiano, and cherry tomato (my favorite artisanal pizza topping combo of all time) which was just delightful! You get a good balance among the saltiness of the prosciutto/parmigiano, the slight bitterness of the arugula, and the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes. - Nostra (4/5): I wanted to try something different so I opted for this savory/sweet combo which consisted of san marzano tomato, spicy soppressata, fresh ricotta, peppers, red onion, parmigiano, garlic, and chile honey. This one was definitely more on the sweeter side so it helped that I had the other pizza to take a bite out of in between bites of this one. Not my cup of tea but that's because I now realize I prefer my pizzas to stay on the savory side. - Burrata (5/5): Absolutely divine!!!! Their homemade burrata is so soft, creamy, and fresh. It comes with prosciutto and cherry tomatoes with a balsamic glaze which, when you put everything together, is heavenly. I also asked for a side of some bread (which ended up being cooked pizza dough slices, *YES*) to scoop everything up. If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing out!! read more

Decided to stop in to S.Egidio tonight with my 3yr old dinner date. I was not sure if this was going to be a good place for a toddler but the owner greeted us and welcomed us. We ordered two pies and the owner sent over fresh made meatballs. It's been 5hrs since the meal and I can't stop thinking about it and when can we go tomorrow. The pizza was excellent. It's fresh and just absolutely delicious. The meatballs were out of this world. People talk about Anthony Franco having good meatballs. Not even close. The meal was bursting with Italian flavors and fresh ingredients. My 3yr old who only eats plain cheese pizza from the pizza joints up the road dug into a sausage margarita like it was her last meal. Came home and enjoyed the leftovers. We will be back I had to run because the crank meter on my toddler was getting high and I didn't want to disturb the atmosphere and I didn't get to thank the owner for greeting us with your dog and the meatballs. I suggest you go and put your name down. Their is a really adorable coffee shop down the street, about 2 stores away, with a fire place. Have S. Edigios put you on the list and then pop by bulldog coffee!
