Spicy salmon Crispy Rice
Cat C.

This food was incredible. The only reason I'd give four stars instead of five was the service. We had a reservation but still waited a half an hour for our table- which we understood. The restaurant was very busy and the young hostess seemed overwhelmed. What bothered us was when we asked about how much longer it might be, we were given a rude remark. Our service throughout dinner was also rushed- plates being taken before people were finished eating. The food was truly outstanding, though, which made up for the sub-par service. We had the spicy salmon crispy rice appetizer, a seaweed salad, and three special rolls. More than enough to fill us. I highly recommend the Double Trouble special roll- easily my favorite of the night. Next time, we might order take-out.

Wagyu beef gyoza special app

Great sushi spot in central jersey, modern yet cozy vibe. They have a separate bar area to the side. Our server was engaging and pleasant. Service was good- our food came in a timely manner, our teas were topped off without asking. We got the tuna ryujin which was composed of spicy tuna, different kinds of tuna nigiri and sashimi including toro. Their fish was high quality and the rolls came with just amount of rice-- one layer and not a rice roll LOL California roll was good and the ikura was well marinated. We had the wagyu beef gyoza special app which was really flavorful even without the dipping sauce. Miso soup was white miso and was flavorful, not bland. Clean restrooms, clean interior, parking lot in a strip mall. Will come back!

I cannot recommend this place enough. My coworker and I came to the area for work, and we found this restaurant. We chose to sit at the bar, and it was lovely. Our server gave us plenty of time to go over the menu and ask questions, our food was presented to us nicely, and of course it tasted even better. If you sit at the bar, you get a little surprised before or during your meal. We came back 2 times in one week! So worth it!!

Spicy miso ramen

I stopped in for my first time craving ramen and I was surprised off the walk in! I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant, especially the wood accents on the walls. I loved that from our table we were able to see where some of the chefs prepared the rolls and sashimi. The ramen was amazing; great pieces of meat and a lot of ramen noodles (my favorite lol). The rolls were fantastic and I look forward to trying way more! The only contrary was having to wait for about 15 minutes before getting our drink order in. Other than this, I look forward to trying a lot more of their menu items :)

For the first time I picked up from Ryujin, I ordered the spicy miso ramen with tonkatsu broth, and the flavor and depth of the broth was delicious! It was just the right level of spicy for me, and had a good amount of noodles. I also liked the toppings of egg and bok choy; my only preference is that I could customize or add toppings, but I still would order it again! The second time I ordered a seaweed salad, Bridgewater roll, Double Trouble roll (no jalapeño), and nigiri. I didn't like the seaweed salad, the mango didn't compliment the seaweed salad and it was extra liquidy than typical of seaweed salads on the bottom. All of the nigiri pieces were so fresh and I really enjoyed the Bridgewater roll. It was my first time trying seared toro (on the double trouble roll), and I didn't prefer the flavor though my husband enjoyed it. I'd be interested in trying their omakase in-person for a future date night since it's close by.

12 piece tasting menu - superb

This is by far the best sushi I've found in central Jersey since moving from North Jersey. I've found it difficult to find high level sushi in Somerset/Mercer counties. Had the 12 piece tasting menu. Every piece was unique. Really good quality fish and the preparation brought out the flavors even further. Was there on a Friday as my second visit and it was PACKED! Tells you everything you need to know. Looking forward to trying the Omakase next time. Service was attentive even with a very busy restaurant. I very highly recommend this place.

Ryujin Chirashi & Sushi Sashimi

Ryujin is is nothing less than amazing, consistently offering amazing quality fish to service. As an avid sushi eater, this place has remained my favorite. With a wide variety of curated specials, there is always something new to try! The quality of the fish as well as the fish to rice ratio is always on point. I highly recommend the Salmon Crispy rice which is about enough for 2 to share, but i'd doubt you'd want to after trying! The service has always been quick and cordial, and I suggest trying to get a bar seat as they often thrown in an extra complimentary small bite. They now offer an omakase menu as well which is available upon booking. Previously they were BYOB, but now serve a wide range of alcohol including soju and sake. If you are looking for an amazing sushi date or even just quality take out, this is absolutely the place.

Okay, I needed to update my review to a 5-star because this is hands down the best sushi spot in the area and we've been coming here a LOT more recently. Current faves: - Spicy scallop roll - Hangy Panky (crunch spicy tuna avocado inside, seared bluefin tuna, Japanese mayo, yuzu miso) - Double Trouble (crunch spicy tuna top with seared toro, jalapeno on top) - Bite Me (spicy crabmeat & scallop inside top with torched Albacore & salmon, crispy rice peal, spicy creamy) We recently ordered an Escape Platter (includes 12 pieces of assorted nigiri and a choice of 6 select special rolls) for my husband's birthday and everything was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Order any catering platters one day ahead of time so that they can prepare accordingly!

Tuna tartare
Parag B.

This was a great sushi restaurant that felt like we were in Japan. The food was delicious! There were many delicious options to choose from, so we decided to get some that we liked now. Then, come back next time for other sushi rolls! Service was excellent and the restaurant was extremely clean! We started with tuna tartare and spicy seafood soup. I loved the spicy seafood soup! You must try the soup! The tuna tartare was okay. It had a lot of expensive ingredients but the taste was okay. We loved all the rolls we ordered. They all was equally delicious and unique in flavor! The place was a pricey so I gave it 4 stars.

Hanky Panky Special Roll, Double Trouble Special Roll

My party of 2 visited on a Tuesday around 7pm and were seated promptly. There are tables available in the dining room as well as some seats at the sushi bar. We ordered the Ryujin Salmon, which came with salmon sashimi, nigiri, and a spicy salmon roll and two specialty rolls - Hanky Panky and Double Trouble to share. All the fish tasted fresh and the portions were reasonable for the price. They brought out a complementary dessert for my birthday which was a nice, surprising touch.

Uni - California, Japanese, Maine
Fia V.

First time, November 2, 2025, Sunday Dinner (for my November 1st birthday) When we go to a Japanese restaurant, we always look for Uni, Green Tea, Red Bean Ice Cream, Sweet Shrimp with the crispy fried shrimp head. We get disappointed when there's no Uni. Fortunately Ryujin had! Maybe in the future, they will have green tea and red beans ice cream too! Ambiance - modern and upscale but still relaxed. Contemporary, clean, sharp, casual and down-to-earth. Good lighting, loved the wood accents. My daughter said the bathroom was clean. Service - me and my daughter were seated right away. We chose a table instead of the chef-counter. Our table was in the middle. Staff were all so welcoming and friendly. We had about four people serving us. They were all attentive. Best service we ever had! Food - loved, loved, loved all the food we ordered: 1. 6 Uni each (2 each of California, Japanese, Maine) - All delicious! 2. 1 Spicy Seafood Soup, which I shared with my daughter. Tasty, not too spicy. 3. 1 Kinoko Salad - shared it with my daughter. Delicious. 4. 1 Shitake Salad - I love Shitake, but this Shitake tasted different, it didn't taste like Shitake, maybe because of the dressing. Also, I didn't get any sesame seed and garlic chips with my salad. 5. Crispy Calamari Salad - My daughter shared it with me. It was good, but I wish it had tentacles. 6. I ordered 1 sushi each - Octopus, Ebi, Red Clam, Tobiko (yellow) 7. We shared Lazy Uni, Butterfly Effect Roll, Soft Shell Crab Roll 8. We had 4 each of the Sweet Shrimp Sushi w/ their crispy fried shrimp heads. 9. For our dessert - since they didn't have green tea ice cream, we ordered and shared 1 Mochi order (we chose all 3 flavors Mango, Strawberry, Green Tea). 10. 2 Hot tea Was not able to take pictures of the salads, the 2 sushi rolls and the Mochi dessert

Great food, some unusual selections, particularly for NJ. It is a little noisy, but the food and service outweigh that!

This is easily one of the best ramen spots I've ever tried. They offer a great variety of broths, ranging from clear to creamy and spicy. My personal favorite is the Spicy Miso Ramen; it's the perfect balance of richness and heat, accompanied by incredibly tender pieces of slow-braised pork belly. I also love that you can fully customize your bowl with different toppings to make it exactly to your taste. You also cannot skip their appetizers. This time we ordered the Rock Shrimp Tempura, which was fried to perfection without overcooking the shrimp, and the sauces were the perfect addition. You also need to try their Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, the Bao Buns, and my absolute favorite: the Ika Geso Karaage, which comes with the most delicious mayo dipping sauce. The cozy ambiance perfectly complements the food, and the service is always attentive. It's a BYOB spot, which is a nice touch, and they'll provide glasses upon request. Since they don't take reservations, make sure to add yourself to the Yelp waitlist so you don't have to wait too long to try this amazing food!

I've actually never been to this location but the staff was so nice and accommodating (we were running late for the ballet ) and made sure to get us in and out asap. Seating is limited so I'd recommend signing up for the waitlist online ahead of time I did try the vegan curry ramen which I've never had before and it was good although I'll stick with my usual next time. It did taste like maggi (ifykyk) but elevated which was comforting buttt I can just make that at home lol still hit the spot though!

Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly staff and sat down looking at the menu. Besides ramen, they also have rice dishes as well. They also have bubbles teas. I ordered tonkatsu ramen and it was delicious. The hot creamy pork both just hits it home for me. I'd definitely come back here again next time to try other dishes. Like many people today, I'm mindful of what I spend dining out, so I expect good value for the price. Since I live in South Jersey, I brought the food home to eat later. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The ramen included four slices of chashu (pork belly), but three of those slices were entirely fat with no meat. I understand that pork belly naturally contains fat--that's part of what makes it flavorful--but receiving pieces that were essentially all fat made the dish unpleasant and felt like poor quality control. I called the restaurant to share my concern, but the response was underwhelming. I was simply told the manager would be informed. When I asked if there was anything further that could be done, I received no real resolution--just a basic explanation of what pork belly is. As someone who understands the product, that explanation missed the point. The issue wasn't what chashu is--it was the quality of what was served. Everything else about the meal was fine, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. However, customer service matters just as much as the food. A simple effort to address the issue or offer a solution would have made a big difference. As a former business owner, I've always believed customer satisfaction should be a top priority. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and for that reason, I won't be returning.

We didn't enjoy it but were happy we tried it. I thought my ramen was fine, not my favorite but no complaints. My friend didn't like her ramen so she asked for hot sauce, sriracha, and soy sauce to spice it up and the server was confused at first but was fine bringing it over once we clarified what we wanted. We also didn't love the karaage chicken. All in all, we enjoyed our visit there and appreciated trying something new. They give cute little cat shaped chopstick holders. We will not likely be back because it wasn't to our liking but think it is just personal taste not that the place was bad so we do recommend trying it for yourself. A lot of other people were there and seem to all enjoy their meals and said they come there often.
