Food - shared order with daughter Appetizers: Ika salad - taste good, funny serving vessel used Momo Yakitori - just taste okay Tempura - the 2 shrimps was just okay, I cook a better tempura shrimp, the vegetables was good Soft Shell Crab - I've had better, shell was soft but the breading was hard Chicken Karaage - disappointed, I've had better, it was all breast, too dry. Brought it home for my 5 dogs. Tako Su - I liked it Ala Carte: 4 Sweet Shrimp (2 each) - delicious! 4 Sea Urchin (2 each) - delicious! Tiger roll - my daughter ordered, we both ate the ends with the shrimp tempura tail. I didn't like the eel in it. She had to take it home since we both were already full. Service - it was okay, nothing special Ambiance - felt relaxing with their soft lighting. Wasn't that busy when we came in. Forgot to take pictures of most of the food we ordered.
We were hanging out at the Somerset NJ County Library System Bridgewater Branch--which has a great children's section--when two hangry kids suddenly starving and in need of nourishment. Back in my day, that meant burgers and fries. These two? Sushi. Clearly, kids' tastes have evolved. A quick Yelp search led us to Sushi Yokohama, about 10 minutes away and described as a casual spot with very good sushi. It was also our first time visiting Somerville's Main Street, and we were impressed with the variety of restaurants there. Parking was a bit tight, but we found a metered spot around the corner, with a municipal lot nearby as a backup. We were quickly seated in a comfortable booth and promptly given menus and water. Three of us ordered bento boxes--two sushi and one sashimi--along with gyoza and fried rice. My sashimi bento was very good, and while the sushi was solid, the sashimi stood out as the better of the two. The gyoza was excellent; the fried rice was a bit bland. Service was consistently friendly and attentive throughout and prices were very reasonable for a sushi establishment ($58 for four meals). Overall, a very enjoyable visit. We'd happily return when we're in the area.
There were 4 of us for lunch specials. We ordered the lunch box specials. Two salmon, chicken, and shrimp teriyaki. The lunchbox specials were decent. You got soup and salad with it. The lunchbox specials comes with three shumai, four California rolls and the meat ordered. The salmon that we ordered was very thin, but it was tasty. The chicken was better because you had more meat. The shrimp teriyaki came with five shrimps. It was decent for the price, but I wish we tried the sushi. The food came out fairly quickly. Within less than 10 minutes. This is our second time here.
I ordered the nigiri and for the price... absolutely worth it. so yummy! I woukd come back
Another trip here. Still love this place. Service is always fast and friendly. The aesthetic hasn't changed or declined. The food is always amazing. I come here quite often and have never had a bad experience. Main St Roll: A+ Otoro (special): A+ Salmon: A++ (so fresh)
I heard about this shop from people who have come here a few times as they enjoy the options. It is located on main street so be sure to consider metered street parking or a public parking lot. I ordered a spicy Kani salad which wasn't bad but it seemed kinda dry. I may be used to a moist soft crab with sauce when I order Kami salad but this was just the crab meat with chili flakes. It's certainly good for a light appetizer as you wait for your main dish. I ordered 2 sushi rolls from their chefs special menu that they keep on the side wall. One was tropical with mango so it was slightly sweetened. Another had shrimp tempura so there was fried oil taste to it. The environment isn't too loud and the wait staff come by every now and then to refill waters. It is certainly an interesting restaurant. Reasonable pricing. I probably won't order the same specialty rolls again but I think I would like o come again to try something else as it was a pleasant experience
Excellent sushi at very reasonable prices. Was especially impressed by their variety of 'specialty fish' ie sea bream, amberjack, etc. Only negative was the "Jar" style jalapenos on the yellowtail. should never use jar/canned jalapeños. always fresh.
A long awaited visit, and frequently called some of the best sushi around! I am glad we finally got to visit. The menu has a lot to pick from, with very affordable prices and fresh tasting fish! There is a long list of rolls and special rolls to choose from, as well as col and hot appetizers, cooked entrees, noodles and more. My table shared the tuna tataki (which was big enough for all 6 of us to share, believe it or not!) We all got rolls and sushi meals, and everyone was very satisfied. The portions were generous, and the service was fast without us feeling rushed. This is a BYOB restaurant, right in the middle of downtown Somerville. Its a great spot, but very difficult to find parking during peak hours (Friday/Saturday around dinner). We recommend making a whole day out of it or carpooling if you are going with a group. Not the best for larger groups, as most of the seating are booths. Its a little difficult to put a large table together. A party of 6 or less is perfect. We absolutely loved it here and will be back soon.
Also just wanted to shout to Sushi Yokohama for having great delivery. It always delivers fresh and extremely well packaged.
Fantastic sushi restaurant! My wife and I love this place. I tried some different things today. I got a cucumber wrapped sushi. I thought it was bland and lack flavor. Also, I got the fried shrimp. It was delicious. But, the end pieces tasted too oily because the shrimp was fried. My wife's rolls were delicious! Spicy tuna rolls. Tuna tartare delicious!!! We got take out, and excellent service.
Casual ambiance for Japanese restaurant. Decent food not impressed with taste of shrimp dish but portion large. Serve ce good.

I haven't been here in 4 years and decided to stop back in for a late lunch on a Saturday around 2pm. Everything was fine but maybe since we came right before they were going to go on the midday break the service wasn't as pleasant as before. What we ordered: - Volcano Roll (White fish, kani, avocado, eel wrapped seaweed outside, deep fried & topped w.spicy mayo and eel sauce) - Hurricane Roll (Shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber w. spicy shrimp and spicy tuna on top) - Spicy Tuna Roll The food was fine, no complaints! read more

Food is tasty and good quality. Great value for quantity of food you get. They even have a kids menu (variety of teriyaki or chicken katsu bento boxes. Comes with soup or salad). No extra service charge for credit card. Street parking or various lots around Main St. Will be back!! read more

I wish I lived closer to Somerville because this would be my weekly sushi spot! Service was quick and our server was simply the sweetest, by helping my Mom choose a roll that wasn't spicy and it was so delicious! She ended up with the Kamikaze roll. I ordered the salmon avocado roll, a classic that didn't disappoint. The pumpkin tempura roll was warm and a fun change from the sweet potato tempura roll I usually get. But the MARS roll...dang! So yummy. There are so many other options to choose from so I'll have to make a trip over here again soon! read more
I'm so glad Sushi Yokohama is open again! I came here with my friends and had amazing sushi. We all got the lunch special which came with 2 rolls, soup and salad for $10.95! I'm vegetarian, so my options were limited but I got the sweet potato roll and the peanut avocado roll. I also got miso soup as one of the sides and the soup was soooo good! Definitely needed on a cold day. We got our food pretty quickly after ordering which was really appreciated. read more
Always have loved it here. Was so sad when they had to close due to the fire up the block for all of those months. Have been back a few times & picked up take out. Always so fresh and delicious. Was there on Sunday with a non sushi eater, which is fine because they have so many cooked Japanese options, even Hibachi. We started with Shumai & edamame. My friend had scallop & chicken Hibachi, I had sushi, eel & salmon sushi as well as a specialty roll, all so fresh and delicious. We both left happy and full. My friend tried my roll and liked it! Maybe he will broaden his horizons in the future. The staff are all so nice, we went early so no wait (@ 4:30 pm) but as we were leaving an hour or so later the place was really filling up, I'd suggest a reservation even on a Sunday read more

Very very VERY solid sushi spot. I typically eat 8-10 rolls so am stuck at all you can eat spots because of the pricing but I was treated here for my birthday We got take out so I can't comment on the inside but from pictures that I've seen it's a good sit down spot The service was fast. I think there was right around 25 rolls ordered all together and took less than 30 min for it to be ready for pick up Good size rolls, good quality read more
I ordered the hibachi steak lunch special which came with soup and salad. Everything was good, no complaints. Our server was attentive and made sure the food came out in a timely fashion. We dined outside in front of the restaurant although there was plenty of seating inside. The inside was dimly lit so we preferred to enjoy a little sun. I would definitely come back. read more
I visited Sushi Yokohama with a small group for a birthday dinner, it was a Saturday, so one of us made reservations prior. The space is a great size to accommodate many guests and more importantly, very clean. I ordered a few veggie rolls and I was delighted at how great they were. The veggies were fresh and the rolls were done neatly, which is always preferred. I also thought that the prices were very reasonable and I appreciate that the restaurant is BYOB. read more

Sushi Yokohama is definitely a gem in the downtown Somerville area. I've been eating there prior to them moving to their now most recent location and they definitely never disappointed. Service here is always polite , attentive and very fast no complaints whatsoever. The I decided to get sushi off the A La Carte menu this visit. All the pieces were fresh and the rice was perfect. Sometimes nigiri pieces can be a bit small or the rice either not firm enough so it crumbles or too dry and it ends up being hard like kernels. Neither was the case here. If you're looking for good quality sushi definitely check out Yokohama. I've recommended it to all my friends and they've had very good experiences . It's got better quality then Sushi Palace and it won't be too pricey like Ai Sushi down the street . read more

I ordered Sushi Yokohama for delivery through Doordash, and trying to figure out which special rolls we wanted to order was tough- they have 60 options to choose from! I ordered the spicy crab and seaweed salad for an appetizer, and it was a good portion, but I prefer a creamy mayo-like base, not the oil-base that it was. I'd definitely recommend the spicy crunchy tuna roll, pink lady, and spicy Titanic rolls (we love spicy tuna and crunchy panko texture in this household)- they didn't skimp out on the filling and the fish was fresh. The mango in the summer breeze roll however, wasn't ripe so that took away from that roll for me. read more
I grabbed some ramen to go from this Somerville downtown joint. The ordering process was very simple online and easy to navigate. They were advertising gift cards online as well but unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to order one for a friend online. I was a bit disappointed by this feature. After ordering, the establishment sent updates about when the food was ready. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen here. The item was packaged nicely, with the noodles and toppings separated from the broth. The broth was piping hot and I immediately mixed both home when I opened it. The egg was cooked perfectly and I loved the bamboo shoots in the dish. Unfortunately, I do think the pork was over-cooked and a bit chewy. I also felt that the broth lacked a bit of flavor. I expected the broth to be a little richer with this type of ramen. I feel like this restaurant's specialty is sushi and I do regret venturing off to get ramen at this sushi place. When I come back, I think I'll just stick to their sushi! read more
Awesome sushi spot in Somerville! Probably my favorite place for some really great sushi options, raw and cooked. The restaurant has been around a long time and gets very packed on the weekend so if you're going to go, I would recommend making a reservation. If you're coming on a weekday for lunch, they have very reasonably priced lunch specials that you can take advantage of. They also have a lot of non sushi dishes if you are going with someone that may not eat raw fish. The prices are very reasonable, I think and the service is very quick. If you're going to skip something, I would say don't get the karaage chicken, it's a little on the dry side. But I highly recommend their spicy kani salad. All the rolls I have had are excellent. read more

I ate lunch here yesterday afternoon and ordered the Scorpion King Roll (soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, shrimp tempura, eel on top with eel sauce; comes with 13 pieces) for $17.00. Long story short, it's as amazing as it sounds! Very cool presentation, delicious fish, and great flavor combination. Just know that not all 3 fish components (soft shell crab, shrimp tempura, and eel) are in every bite of the roll. The "front" of the roll features soft shell crab while the latter part of the roll has the shrimp tempura inside and eel on top. Staff was friendly and the interior is nicely decorated and clean. Like every other establishment on Main Street in Downtown Somerville, there is metered street parking and a parking lot behind Boulevard Seafood Company nearby. Free parking on Sundays! read more
