Ok so first off, the 5 stars is for value! I came in on a Wednesday and they had fried chicken buffet for $7.99 in 2026. Unheard of... the chicken was fresh and fantastic. I've been to my fair share of buffets and this was by far the worst one I've ever had. The selection of food was sparse and all of it was low quality flavourless mush. The potato soup was like chunky water. The macaroni noodles in the mac n' cheese were overcooked, same with the noodles in the beef and noodles. The vegetables tasted canned and soggy. The mashed potatoes were lumpy. The salad bar had very little toppings to choose from. The dessert was disappointing too; a very dry chocolate cake with not much flavour, topped with whipped cream. The cake crumbled as soon as my fork touched it and stuck to the roof of my mouth. Oh, and speaking of cutlery...my fiancés butter knife had a big splotch of old crusted food on it. Overall, the buffet at Ryan's Restaurant was not good and I would only recommend it to someone whose standards couldn't possibly get any lower. I would go as far to say that this buffet was worse than the Golden Corral buffet, which says a lot, because Golden Corral is bottom of the barrel food in terms of quality. Stopped in Ryan's this week for an early breakfast. We have not been indoor dining much since Covid has still changed many plans. First thing we noticed driving in was the parking lot has been recently blacktopped and believe me, that alone made a difference. With the weather in NW Ohio tending to be seasonal and since hubs uses a cane, it is a much appreciated update. Not too much updated inside Ryan's but while seated the inside seemed cleaner and a bit fresher. We had our favorites of bacon and cheese omelettes, home fries and rye toast. Coffee and iced tea were the drinks. Our waitress, Anna was attentive, efficient and friendly. One thing about Ryan's is their waitstaff always is great. The omelettes were very well made and tasted as good as any we've had. Tasty home fries and hot coffee. You could say we were very glad we've started to venture out more and will be back soon. read more

Very disappointed in the chicken. It has been overdone for the last couple of months again. For awhile it was really good, now it's back to being over cooked, very dry and tough to eat. Disappointed in the fact that the pork chop dinner has been taken off the menu. That was one of my favorite things to order. Disappointed in the liver and onions were taken off the Thursday dinner buffet. The wings that are on the Thursday dinner buffet are usually cold and tough to eat. Also disappointed in the lettuce for the salad bar usually has a lot of brown on it. I hope things start to improve. read more

The service was bad we had to wait like 20 mins to get our order taken even when the place wasn't even packed it had like 3-4 tables and then the wait for the food was longer just to get flimsy pancakes that aren't even done right I could still taste the butter in the pancakes and pretty bad service, we didn't get asked for refills or anything and they still expected us to tip 20% of the bill!? I can be a picky person, but today's breakfast experience was top notch. We chose this place because a Geocaching group likes to meet here. Then the pickups in the parking lot pointed to a local hangout (finest kind). Places available to sit immediately. Prompt greeting, menus and drinks. I order "The Usual" two eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. DH had two pancakes. My breakfast was perfect. The hashbrowns were especially tasty. I think they were real potatoes, eggs done as ordered and the bacon wasn't paper thin. DH liked his pancakes. For breakfasts I think this place is underrated. read more

I have no idea what the food is like. On my way in the couple in front of we're in such a hurry to get in before us, they let the door slam in my face. They win! Went in and seated ourselves per the signage. The place is Dank, outdated and gross looking but hubby likes breakfast and there were a lot of cars in the lot. My wife went to use the bathroom at this restraunt we had taken her parents and brother and sister there to eat and there was an employee not sure on the name, she was a young girl real short blonde ish brown hair I did ask a employee what her name was after my wife came back and told me what had happened and said her name was lena? or Leva? They said it to fast so i may be miss pronouncing or spelling it wrong. something to that affect..my wife guessed she was maybe fourteen or fifteen-ish but she was definitely smoking weed in the bathroom my wife went to take our 5 yr old in there and couldn't because it was all smokey and smelt like weed only one bathroom for each gender there so my daughter had to use the men's bathroom we couldn't believe they allowed her to use the facility to do that. We will never go back there again we were disappointed that our 5 yr old daughter could not use the female facilities due to drug abuse by another child employed by this buisness happeneing there Worst part though the girl saw my wife's face as she opened the door and smelt it my wife had a very expressive face might i add and the girl laughed like it was funny and walked away like no biggie i do it all the time I have nothing against weed pot bud whatever ya call it now a days but children doing it in public places like - for example their employment lol with total disregard for the public and local and state laws or policy's for restraunts in ohio shows the lack of parental guidance and clearly disciplin lackinh moral guidance and character is clearly getting worse and worse. Sad kids are so emboldened now a days and missing the respect for themselves and others and buisnesses No offense but I will be letting everyone know not to take kids there to eat until I believe that has been handled and delt with. My family and I stopped here on a road trip for breakfast, as it was the only place around that we could find that served breakfast (other than fast food). This place is sad :( and dark and cluttered. We got the $7.99 breakfast buffet to save time and we were in and out in 22 min. wth bathroom breaks, so it is fast. The food is just food, mostly out of a can or from frozen. The waffles literally snapped in half when bent. We will certainly never stop there again, but I did give 2 stars because, despite the drab, outdated dining area, I can't say it wasn't clean and our server was friendly. read more

This was my first and my last time at Ryan's in Wauseon. Service was terrible; saw our waitress taking our order, bringing the food, presenting the bill. She screwed up our order, charged for peppers which I had asked if I could just switch the green peppers for jalapeños. I even asked if that would be an even swap, she told me that it would. I told her that I did not want potatoes in my omelette but then she never brought me the hash browns that came with my meal. When I asked her about the side of potatoes she shrugged her shoulders said oh I thought you didn't want any potatoes. She never asked if she could correct it somehow. One of our pancakes was burnt, you could actually smell that it was burned. Two times I had to ask a different waitress for more coffee. This second waitress was very nice. Overall a Terrible experience! I would caution anyone who is thinking of eating there, not to go! read more

The buffet was great for my entire family. However, before we sat down we acknowledged the fact that they closed at 8:30 so we asked if we could still order food or get the buffet and was told we could! So we sat down to eat and I ordered fried mushrooms and a BLT (pretty simple stuff right) yeah well I ordered right around 8:15 and I waited for my food. As time passed my entire family was finished eating and I still had no food. The waitress then came over to me and said unfortunately they didn't get my order in time so they weren't going to be able to fulfill my order. ACTUALLY THATS RIDICULOUS! My order was in before 8:30 so don't shit your grill down early! I then am told they are turning back on the grill at 8:45 to cook my food. So I wait patiently and then the waitress comes over again and said the fryer was turned off so your mushrooms won't be fulfilled because they would take 45 minutes. OKAY PEOPLE GET THIS SHIT TOGETHER!! Your telling me I ask for a manager and then the manager won't come speak to us only my waitress! That's bullshit too!! How about you not close your establishment down early for starters. Then to top it all off I get my food, the cook comes out and gives me a dirty look as he goes to the fountain drinks and the bacon on my BLT was barely warm and absolutely awful like it had been heated up in a microwave!! Yeah, this joint needs a remodel asap. When you walk in you see the buffet which didn't look particularly appealing. The place has a definite odor of spoiled towel, and the carpeting needs deep cleaning. Surprisingly, we weren't grossed-out enough to leave, so we ordered. Service was very average, as was the food. I have read the negative reviews. Each person has their own opinion and mine is I love to come to Ryan's. Its a setting where most people see each other there more than once. The waitresss are kool. The people who set up the buffet are very nice and you know if you need help they will gladly help. This business is home to so many and any negative comments are not what the rest of us think.
