You know how you hear of those charming middle-of-nowhere diners? Well, this is one!…read more Country Charm Cafe, or "The Restaurant" since it's the only one in town, has been in Metamora for maybe 30 years or longer? Certainly a few decades at any rate. The décor has delightful clocks lining the walls and the walls are painted a bright color. Seating includes booths and tables, and a small bar area. The menu has quite a few standard diner items and a dry erase bird up front lists the specials of the day...and the pie flavors. Some of the best pie in the state is here - you must try it! I love the peanut butter pie and also the chocolate peanut butter pie. The only other pie in the region I like is Schmucker's in Toledo and a random 50s style restaurant I stumbled across west of Wauseon. The menu items are also good - really tasty French fries and good burgers. The woman who owns it (I think - she's always working) also makes the pies! I definitely recommend this if you live in the area or are on a road trip.

Little did she know the great food waiting inside for us. Walked in and took a step back in time (retro diner). The menus was full of breakfast/lunch items. We choose breakfast sandwich and bacon & eggs w/home fries. Plus coffee. The waitress and cook were extremely friendly (like eating with family). The food was delicious, eggs cooked to perfection, bacon great, toast great. The breakfast sandwich was ordered with bacon and pepper jack cheese and egg on an everything bagel. Tasty doesn't begin to describe it. The retro appearance made for a relaxing environment! Very impressive!

There are good burgers and there are great burgers and these both were great. Cooked perfectly with a nicely grilled bun. Fresh shredded lettuce, tomato and sliced pickle added. Price is reasonable and on Mondays they offer a burger special. Specials are offered on other days also. Check them out and happy eating!

I enjoy their breakfasts which are plentiful and delicious. This night four of us ordered goulash dinners, a fettuccine dinner and a burger platter. The goulash I was told was very good and flavorful. It looked really nice. The fettuccine I had was comparable to many Italian restaurants and the serving was actually bigger than I was expecting. Salads came with the dinners and they were out of oil and vinegar or Italian dressing so we went with Ranch. The burger platter was the star. It was plated like a picture, perfectly cooked with fresh crispy fries and a cole slaw my hubs could have had seconds with. He thought it was that good. The restaurant was decorated in a Summer like theme and everything was clean and well lit. Our waitress was pleasant but never came back for any refills or to check on us. Still we will go back and try some of their other dinners.

The reviews were great and we decided to try them. OK. We arrived at 5:30 pm and the lot was MT. Going on the Yelp reviews, we went in and found a very clean and friendly atmosphere, although we were the only ones there. We asked where the crowd was and our waiter said he had no clue! Thursday was unpredictable. Last week they were packed! They have a full menu. Breakfast served all day. Prices were very reasonable on all menu items. There was a ribeye on special for 12.99 which included salad and baked potato and rolls.. My wife was looking at sandwiches and I told her the steak reviews were excellent so ,she also ordered the 8oz ribeye. Well the steaks were at least 9 or 10 oz and excellent. Best i've had at twice the price! Our waiter was very attentive. The salad was just bagged lettuce but, chilled and fresh. Definitely will be our go to Restaurant in Napoleon,Oh.

Laker's Landing was formerly Laker's Food & Spirits. I no reference to the former owners…read more Laker's is a moderately small restaurant tucked behind several buildings on the Main Street. I didn't see any signage on the main road or on the street where you turn. There isn't any good signage that helps you definitely know that you have arrived at Laker's. Once you get there you will scramble to find a parking spot on a busy night. Again the signage for where it is okay to park is not good as well. Laker's is set right on the lake. The deck only sets three tables. The view is great. However you better make a reservation if you want to secure an outdoor seat. Once inside....the view of the lake isn't bad. There are lots of windows to share the view with those outside. The interior of the restaurant is broken up into three areas - east & west dinning and a bar. All areas have an attractive multi-colored wood walls. This is complimented by the wood floors and dark furniture. The interior is welcoming and comfortable. The bar is very attractive. The east dinning room is VERY LOUD for some reason. The west side was much quieter. The staff we encountered were very friendly. The hostess doubles as a bus person so we had to wait to find out what happens after you arrive - again "hostess will seat up" sign. I was surprised that half of the staff didn't wear shirts with the Laker's logo. Our waitress Katie was excellent. She knew her menu well and had several spot on recommendations. She was concerned about our dinning experience and advised us that a large party was coming so she wanted to make sure we got our orders in ahead of them. Katie was right on top of the refills as well. We ordered the jalapeño crab filled wontons to start. The jalapeño wonton was not hot or over spicy. The filling was creamery with a slight crab taste. The wontons were a bit crispy. Overall a nice appetizer but no rememberable flavors here. My side salad was very good. The salad was a nice size presented in a fashionable bowl. The Ingredients were very fresh. The right amount cheese mixed well with the homemade honey mustard dressing. The dressing had a slightly sweet flavor with a creamy smooth consistency. The taste mirrored a high quality store bought dressing. My wife had the Cobb salad. Again the salad was a nice size with plenty of fresh veggies and lettuce. The homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing was outstanding. The dressing was slightly sweet with small pieces of raspberries in the sauce. Overall the salad was very good. For dinner I ordered the breasted chicken and Mac & Cheese. The Mac & cheese was a bit dry. You kind of expect a creamy oozing sauce on elbow noodles. The noodles were perfectly cooked. The cheese was thin and stuck to the noodle with a darker color (looked like well baked on but not overly baked). The chicken was outstanding. The breading was thin and slightly crispy. It did hold a bit more grease flavor than you might like. However the breading was simply delicious! The chicken was extraordinarily moist. It could be easily cut with a fork. Overall Laker's Landing does a pretty good job with dinner. The cocktails, which we didn't have, looked very attractive and tempting. You will find the prices to be very fair and a moderately sized menu. Give them a try!

***UPDATE*** Stopped…read moreback in. Ordered the "Dirty Martini Burger." Hey! Morenci Pub! Here's your fifth star!! This amazing burger, with its olive aioli, manages to walk that tight rope between " unique specialty burger," and "traditional American cheeseburger" perfectly. It was awesome. So the first line of my original review is wrong. At this point I am advocating that you roll all the way out to Morenci just for a burger! ***ORIGINAL REVIEW*** No. I'm not advocating that you roll all the way out to Morenci just for a burger...BUT, if you happen to be passing through town, and you're hungry, you should definitely stop here. Not including the five (5!!!) dispensaries in this little southern Michigan burg, I think the pub is the only place in town devoted to serving mind altering substances...and burgers. "The Works" (see pic) comes with fries and all the standard burger toppings. It's simple, it's basic, and it is a burger TOTALLY done right! Perfectly cooked patty? Yep. Fresh veggies? Perfect combo of condiments? You got it. Fresh soft brioche bun. Sho'nuff. Draft beer? Basic American waterbeer, and, Two Hearts. More stuff available in bottles, but I didn't check these out. Atmosphere: Damn, I walk into what I figured was going to be a shitkicker bar, and California Love is playing. Follow that with Lil' Wayne. Perfect. I didn't expect that. This place is very cozy, and although I was definitely an outsider, I wasn't treated that way. Everybody was friendly. So...would I personally drive all the way back out here just for a burger and a Coors light?? Yeah. I would. The Morenci pub may not be perfect, but it's perfect for what it is! 4 stars! I'm planning to try some more of the food...maybe a fifth star is on the way.
