My only issue is if you choose to not have potatoes with an omelette, you still have to pay for them. I found that as a kind of a weird diner policy. Many other diners take out the potato price. The place was clean and our server made up for that.

We were greeted upon entry and sat promptly as well. It is in a strip mall with a large ceiling, but it still had that small mom and pop diner feel to it. The waitress team was present and took our orders and the food was out in a short window. The steak and eggs really hit the spot. The eggs were real eggs. The color and texture were there. The potatoes had a hefty crunch which I liked. I asked for the steak medium well, it came out more well for sure. I wasn't gonna complain, it had a good char and it went well with the scrambled eggs. The skillet was a massive portion! Holy cow, my mom ate half and still packed the to go box! I know in some previous reviews that the coffee was highly recommended. My mom enjoyed her coffee. A good homely and warm feeling brought upon the breakfast. Awesome place in my eyes. If I'm ever out in the Toledo area again, I know where an awesome breakfast is to be had!

I enjoy their breakfasts which are plentiful and delicious. This night four of us ordered goulash dinners, a fettuccine dinner and a burger platter. The goulash I was told was very good and flavorful. It looked really nice. The fettuccine I had was comparable to many Italian restaurants and the serving was actually bigger than I was expecting. Salads came with the dinners and they were out of oil and vinegar or Italian dressing so we went with Ranch. The burger platter was the star. It was plated like a picture, perfectly cooked with fresh crispy fries and a cole slaw my hubs could have had seconds with. He thought it was that good. The restaurant was decorated in a Summer like theme and everything was clean and well lit. Our waitress was pleasant but never came back for any refills or to check on us. Still we will go back and try some of their other dinners.

In the mood for some coney dogs after an afternoon at the Toledo Botanical Garden, I decided to…read moregive McCord Coney Island a try. On entering the restaurant, the lone server invited me to sit wherever I wanted, then delivered a menu. Looking things over, I was surprised that most of the menu was dedicated to breakfast offerings or tex-mex, with just a couple of hot dog choices. Regardless, I opted for a coney dog, Chicago dog, and onion rings, with a water to drink. Before tax and tip, my bill came to $12.51, which definitely felt pricy. There were only two other tables in use when I arrived, so the kitchen had my food ready pretty quickly. Unfortunately they forgot about the onion rings, so my waitress had to re-order them. My coney dog was fine, just indistinguishable from any of its brethren I have eaten over the years. The Chicago style also tasted very average, but was at least more visually appealing. Both were over-priced at $3.57 and $4.97 respectively, especially given their sizes. At least the onion rings were hot and plentiful. However when I went to pour myself some ketchup, I discovered the lid had been put on incorrectly, as it shot as much ketchup out the side as it did the nozzle. Had the bottle been rotated 90 degrees when I squeezed it, I would have looked like a GSW victim. PROS: attentive enough service, speedy kitchen CONS: small portions of just average food at a surprisingly high price Overall I found McCord Coney Island as being OK and might or might not return.
