Sullivans was so good we went back for dinner after eating there at lunch! We tried a pasta dish, the French onion soup, the Reuben, and a steak... and a twist on their brownie/ice cream dessert! Update to my below review!! The below review was prior to me realizing that I had forgotten my debit card at Sullivan's the next day. Unfortunately they were closed on Sunday so I had to call into my bank and cancel my card. While reviewing the transactions, I realized the amount they had authorized to my card was $10 more than our bill+tip. I used to be a server and worked at a bank so I know how authorizations work so I patiently waited until it cleared. My worst fears were confirmed! Not only did she not return my debit card after payment, apparently she was upset with her 12% tip and added a 1 to my tip to make it +$10! I called pretty upset on Monday afternoon and talked to a manager named Collin who seemed to not care about the issue. No apologies, only to promise to talk to the owner to see if they could do something for me since I lived out of state. I waited until Friday to call them back and was told by the hostess that Natalie would be calling me back later as she was on a call. She did call back about 1 1/2 hours later and said she had already refunded my card for the $10 and that she had looked at the receipt and it appeared I had issues writing with the pen so she could see how the server (Caitlyn) could have thought the [[HIGHLIGHT]]tip was $16. 25! I let her know I had no issues with the pen and anything [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]other than my 6.25 on the receipt was added by her server. I told her I was worried for all of the other tables where she had given bad service to and she had done the same thing. She said the server already gave the store back the $10 and apologized for the confusion. Sorry, there was no confusion here! I do truly appreciate Natalie with apologizing for the issue and refunding the money but I would never go to this place and if you do, I would make sure your server wasn't named Natalie. I changed my rating from a 4 to a 1 due to this fiasco. This one was hard to rate. Wish Yelp let me do somewhere around 3.5-3.8. What was good? We walked in and only had to wait about 10 minutes on a Saturday night the weekend of Mother's Day. Our server started off really bad. Didn't introduce herself and she started talking when we weren't even looking at her not realizing she had made it to the table. Her service didn't get much better from there. No mention of the specials. No offer of adult beverages. Bad. Just... What do you want to drink? I used to be a server so I know what they are told to do. We started off with cheese curds and they were pretty good. A little burnt tasting which it felt like was due to older oil that they were fried in. Other than that, they were pretty good. My wife got the Balsamic Chicken Breasts and she absolutely loved hers! She took half of it home so it felt like a pretty good value. I got the Sully Burger and had high hopes. It was good, don't get me wrong. But was it amazing? Nah. The burger was completely overdone and dry. Also didn't love the fried potatoes on it as much as I thought I would. Unfortunately, I was most excited about the horseradish sauce on the burger and it was non-existent. But... All this being said, it was a good burger. Not great. The ambiance of the place was pretty cool and we did really enjoy ourself. So.. I rated it on here at a 4 but probably not quite that good considering the horrible service. Went to Saturday night dinner with extended family - was decent apart from the beef tips, which several of us ordered and had no flavor and were overdone. Lively bar scene, and packed but wasn't great. Service very friendly and on top of things. One superlative I will give is the pie!!! Home baked and out of this world! This was my first visit to this nice little gem of a restaurant located on the southwest corner of the main intersection in downtown Wauseon. My wife had been here with a friend in the past and said it was good. I must say that I agreed with her after this visit. The storefront was tidy and neat and the building was easy to spot when driving into town. Parking was not too difficult as there was reasonably accessible street parking. It seems like it should always be possible to find a parking space within a couple of blocks. We visited on a Thursday night. It was moderately busy but we had no trouble getting seated right away. The greeters were friendly and welcoming. Our server Ashley was very pleasant and did a very good job during our visit. We had our son and two of our grandchildren (aged 4 and 3 months) with us. They accommodated us without any problem. The restaurant was in a separate area from the bar making our situation more workable. The menu featured some nice options. I tried the Salsa Avocado Burger substituting grilled chicken for the beef. The avocado load was generous and the salsa was on the mild side but very tasty. It was accompanied by kettle chips. I got the equivalent of a 1/2-pound serving and it was filling to say the least. I was quite happy with my choice. My wife had the BLT accompanied by chips and she was also pleased. Our son had the Prime Rib Sandwich with chips and also was impressed with his fare. Our grandson had a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and that suited him as he at least finished the sandwich. I stole a couple of fries and they were pretty good. My son made the comment when looking at the menu that the restaurant management had not heard that inflation was a problem these days. Their prices were indeed very reasonable. For three adults and one child, the bill was $60 including food, drinks and tip. To put some perspective on it, I just had water to drink. But take away the food, drink and tip portion for our grandson's meal, the adults still ate for just $51. At $17 per person, that's a good deal these days for a meal of this type. The value is what tipped the scales from a 4 to a 5 for my rating. We'll certainly look forward to our next visit. read more

We visited the Sullivan's restaurant on a recommendation after going to Sauder Village. This is a nice place for any occasion. My sister has been here several times. Has a sports bar atmosphere upfront, a large dining room, and a private dining room in the back. White table cloths are on the tables and booths are on the side. Staff was pleasant. Daily specials are on the board. One order was the salmon club on a roll with bacon and veggies. The toasted ravioli was filled with meat and cheese and had a marinara sauce, not too sweet. Was outstanding. Both were slightly over cooked and chewy, but the flavors were still good. My husband & I have come here a few times over the past 7 years or so. I remember my first experience here was amazing from service to food. I remember the caesar salad bein my absolute favorite because of the dressing & HOMEMADE croutons. I hadn't ordered the Caesar since that 1st time we ate there until 2 days ago and I was super disappointed to see mediocre store bought croutons and they definitely didn't skimp on the dressing. It wasn't what I remembered, but it could've just been a fluke. There was a lot of pepper in the dressing or at least I believe it was pepper so if you aren't a fan of a little kick or peppery bite, you might want to ask for the dressing on the side. The bruschetta did not disappoint! It's AMAZING & I highly recommend it! Eat it right away tho. I made the mistake of waiting til I got home (40 min drive) and the bread was soggy from the sauce, but it was still amazing. The Southwest Chicken salad is a mediocre salad. The balsamic chicken is ok. I wasn't wowed by it by any means. The flavor just wasn't what I was expecting and the glaze was only on 1 piece of chicken. We were looking for something new and man am i glad we found this place! When we came in, the host let us know that the servers were a little behind, but we understand that that happens. Our server was very friendly and she stayed on point our whole visit! They have an extensive menu and we began with the fried pickle appetizer. It was terrific! I ordered the Cobb salad and wow was it delicious! It had everything one could ask for! My husband ordered the 16 oz ribeye and it was seriously good enough to go up to the big league steakhouses. I had the Jiggs dinner Friday, best damn food I have had in a while. On Friday's, the Clam Chowder is better then almost any soup you will have. The Salmon here is one of the best dishes you can get in NW Ohio (Fresh Cut Salmon, not the vacuum sealed BS everyone else sells). Sirloin steak is a great deal. Chicken Tenders are freshly made and go well with the house made Honey Mustard. THE DAMN SIDE SALADS are great too (fan girl at this point) I appreciate a place that knows how to cook. Sullivan's has been around for 10 plus years for a reason. It is a private owned place and it has some flaws sure, but if you want REAL food, good food, Sullivan's is the place to go. read more

We had a very nice early dinner here the day we arrived in town. They open at 5 and that is about when we arrived. By the time we left at 6 the tables were mostly taken. I had good dinner of the daily special walleye grilled with garlic mashed potatoes and a nice sized side salad. DH had the lobster quesadilla from the appetizer section. He was able to enjoy some for dinner and then again lunch the next day. If you are not sharing, this makes a nice meal. When you are traveling across I80 from Pittsburgh to Omaha, you are limited in options. Not much to look at, not much in the way of food options outside of your normal rest stop choices. Since we are trying to eat a little healthier, we looked up "salads" on yelp and Sullivan's popped up just a little off the highway. We decided to give it a try - and we were SO glad we did. I had the Cobb salad and the hubs had a Caesar salad with steak- and both were huge and probably the best salads we've ever had. Both had very fresh lettuce, vegetables, and some of the best seasoned and properly cooked meats we've ever had. They have a full menu of options that I would have loved to try out, and a nice bar area as well, but alas, the drive ahead did not allow for us to partake in the beverage scene. read more

Friend came here forr friday night fish fry and love it several weeeks ago so I tried it. No special but the pan fried perch with 2 sides was regular menu entree. First two pieces were excellent - rest were tough- more than tough! The asparagus was old and string. The mashed potatoes like dry paste with chives. Should have known when I walked in and with empty tables visible I was told there was a 15 minute wait- since it wAs already 730 and I could see empty tables I thanked them and turned to walk when miraculously a table opened. Stopped by with the wife and daughter, were seated right away and the server visited us just as quickly. Server was very nice during our entire dinner. Changes in my daughter's order did not bother our sever at all. I had the special 7 ounce steak, baked potato, and green beans for $11.00. No substitutions were allowed but after cleaning my plate no subs were necessary, the steak was made to order and the green beans were fabulous, seasoned perfectly. The Ribeye plate $20.00, the Tuna plate $17.00 the Cajun pasta plate $15.00. We were seated and offered drinks with in the first 5 minutes. We had our meal in about 20 minutes. Steak had great flavor although it was cold in center (but my husband ordered rare). Tuna had great flavor, but I wish I had been given a steak knife to cut it. My daughter just said that the pasta was good. The house salad is really good made with cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, croutons. I will eat here again on special occasion. Oh my gosh what an amazing restaurant. First we were greeted at the front door by a hostess who took us to our booth and was polite and kind and very courteous. Rebecca, our waitress greeted us and took our drink order and brought us bread. The bread was warm, and the butter made it perfect. She gave us recommendations that turned out to be unbelievable! My stuffed pork loin was truly wonderful my wife ordered the rigatoni bologanase, in a beef and sausage homemade sauce. The asparagus and fresh green beans provided balance to the pork. We were coming back from a weekend in Chicago so we got off the turnpike and went here. It was about 10 minutes from the Ohio Turnpike and in downtown Wauseon. We were thinking small town diner with charm and 50 plus years old. Instead this place much to our surprise is new looking with a bar and a restaurant that has table clothes and cloth napkins! It was quieter and has a menu that ranges from sandwiches and salads up to full meals including some nicer entrees. We almost walked away when we saw the dining room as it seemed mote formal at first, but after we sat down we found a mixture of people dressed from casual in shorts and tank tops to better dressed. There is an outside patio and from the front it looks like a bar and grill but from the side more like a formal restaurant. As for the food quality, it was pretty good and the portion size was just about right. The service was friendly as well. The place does seem to struggle a little with identity but I liked it anyway. It was clean and had a new feel that was masculine in nature due to the brick and tile used. Its worth trying the place if you are from around that area for sure but if you need a place to eat and are on the turnpike and don't want fast food at the rest stops it might make for a nice little side diversion as long as you aren't on a long drive as you will use up 20-30 minutes going to town and back. read more

Nice restaurant in town. Good local decor. Very cold beer. I had tomato basil artichoke soup, which sounds like an odd combination, but was very good. Also had Caesar salad, which comes as a side or larger portion entree. The side portion was nicely sized. Service was prompt and courteous. We are trying to be supportive of local businesses during the pandemic. Sullivan's had been one of my favorites in the area. The last two times we ordered carryout I was very disappointed. We ordered 2 Cobb salads, they split the chicken breast in half. When I am paying almost $30 for 2 salads I expect a full chicken breast on my salad not a half. The hard boiled eggs must have been frozen because the eggs were rubbery and gross. It came with turkey deli meat (turkey is not usually on a Cobb salad). Unless it was to justify the half piece of chicken breast. The first time I tried their Cobb salad I gave them the benefit of doubt, skimping on the chicken but when I got skimped a second time, I found Sullivan's very disappointing. read more

For the middle of nowhere you can't ask for better. Stopped through here during a work relocation. The place is attractive and very full of people. The staff was attentive and friendly in a small town way. The food was actually pretty good! I had a stuffed pork loin, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus while the rest of my party had burgers and the prime rib sandwich. Everyone was satisfied and our drinks were full the whole time. The only complaint I had was that there were large raw chunks of garlic in the potatoes that caught me a bit off guard but I expected many worse things given the remoteness of the location. read more
