Stopped at Blue Ribbon Diner for a week night dinner. Located right off the Ohio Turnpike in Wauseon it's a favorite for travelers and locals. I enjoy their breakfasts which are plentiful and delicious. This night four of us ordered goulash dinners, a fettuccine dinner and a burger platter. The goulash I was told was very good and flavorful. It looked really nice. The fettuccine I had was comparable to many Italian restaurants and the serving was actually bigger than I was expecting. Salads came with the dinners and they were out of oil and vinegar or Italian dressing so we went with Ranch. The burger platter was the star. It was plated like a picture, perfectly cooked with fresh crispy fries and a cole slaw my hubs could have had seconds with. He thought it was that good. The restaurant was decorated in a Summer like theme and everything was clean and well lit. Our waitress was pleasant but never came back for any refills or to check on us. Still we will go back and try some of their other dinners. read more

After a long day on the road, I was pleased to find this diner across the street from the motel we were staying at for the night. We arrived just after 7pm and settled down to have something yummy to eat. We weren't disappointed. I ordered a hamburger and fries and was treated to a free side order of chicken noodle soup. The soup was made from scratch and was extraordinarily savory. My spouse's cinnamon French toast was very good and tasty. My granddaughter had the Mickey Mouse pancakes and they must have been delicious as they disappeared quickly. The accompanying bacon strips met a similar fate. The diner was very clean and tidy and the noise levels inside and out were low enough to allow quiet conversation. Our waitress was a dream and she kept us topped up with drinks and other needs as the meal went on. To me, this was the epitome of a cozy Midwest Dining experience...filling, inexpensive and delicious. I will definitely stop by if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Decent diner on turnpike. Had a combo triple decker sandwich which was good. Their fries were good. Ordered Mediterranean salad which arrived late. Guess they don't have many orders for vegetables here. Waitress comped us the Salad which was nice. Busy place, I should have stuck to breakfast orders. Good roadside stop. read more

Excellent service, large portions, great menu something for everyone. Lots of locasl and a few travelers. Mom and pop type of diner. There were three of us. I got a Ruben wrap and the daily soup, bacon cheese burger which was delicious. It came with fries which I passed on. My spouse got a triple decker club which could have fed all of us. It came with soup and fries. I tried a fry and it was hot and tasty, he also got the cheese burger bacon soup. He agreed it was delicious. My daughter got an omelet which came with hash browns and toast. It was huge! The server was friendly and efficient. She kept our glasses full. Service was fast and our orders was perfect. It closed at 7:48pm on a Saturday night. We walked in and we were turned away by the hostess. I asked if they have any food, and she said "the grills have been turned off". I stopped on a Monday for lunch, and I ordered the Hot Turkey sandwich along with a cup of soup. The soup was delicious, and you could tell it was homemade, it was so tasty. As far as the Turkey, it was shredded instead of sliced and to be honest I like sliced much better. The shredded Turkey seemed dry to me, but the gravy helped a lot and was very tasty. The vegetables were green beans, and they were some of the best beans I have ever had. The service was outstanding and the place was very clean and organized. Overall, this was a great meal, and I will stop again, just next time I will order something different. read more

Nice place that's easy to get to off the OH Turnpike....have eaten here a few times, and the place is clean, and they have friendly employees too...I've gotten breakfast twice and both times it was cooked perfect...You also get a nice large portion of hashbrowns....Fair prices too...No complaints will come again. read more

Usually the food is good but today I ordered the California wrap which has turkey, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese Bacon and avocado in it but today it had turkey, lettuce and tomato and when I questioned them about it I was told they were out of avocado! Found this gem of a diner on our way across I-80 because of the billboard at exit 64 west bound. Hubbs had the turkey club and says it is very good - I tested the fries and they were delicious. Breakfast is served all day so I got the French toast and bacon. Yum. Coffee and water had good flavor too. Too hungry for food pics. read more

Service: Really friendly and attentive. No worries at all. Food: Pretty good. Open roast beef was tasty, but did need some salt and pepper. Mashed potatoes were good as well, but again needed seasoning. The potato soup was pretty hearty. I wanted to take my parents out for breakfast/brunch while I was visiting and was referred to this diner on Facebook. The referral obviously did not let me down! We absolutely loved everything about this diner. You can see what we loved below! - The diner/decor setup and family atmosphere. - The friendly hostesses and waitresses. Our waitress was top notch. She took our order without writing anything down and our meals came out perfect - not one single error! She also eyed our table whenever drinks were beginning to get low and refilled our drinks without us having to ask. - The portion sizes are huge...and that's always a great thing when you want to eat your meal more than once. Especially when the food is so delicious! 3 out of the 4 of us had leftovers when we left today. - The food is delicious and tastes so fresh! I had the veggie omelette with a side of fruit and wheat toast. Everything tasted so great! All omelettes come with hash browns or a side of fruit AND toast or pancakes! So filling and so yummy! - My 4 year old daughter ordered the Mickey Mouse pancakes and it was super cute and super large! Definitely filling for her! We asked for a side of whipped cream for dipping and our waitress was super accommodating. - The prices are extremely reasonable. I don't think that I saw anything over $10 on the breakfast menu. - The restrooms are clean and smell lemony fresh! The women's restroom had really cute decor as well! - I really like the "old diner style" feeling being in this place! Some items that may help the diner: - Repainting the parking lot...it was difficult to see the parking space lines. The parking lot seems to stay full so this will definitely help with customer parking and organization. - Placing the kids menu on an activity sheet. The kids menu is currently on the adult menu which leaves the kids with nothing to do while waiting for their food. An activity sheet/crayons can help keep kids entertained while waiting for food. I ordered carry out over the phone as I was passing through on my way over to Iowa. I ordered the hungry man omelette but was greeted with the hungry man skillet. I specifically wanted the omelette as I'm not a fan of peppers or onions. Needless to say, I couldn't finish most of the skillet because of those issues. However, it comes with a side order of two pancakes which were the most fluffy and delicious I've had in a long time. Pre-topped with melting butter and I added a dash of Syrup and Bam! This diner / restaurant was suggested by a local person and was great!!!!!! If I lived in the area, it could be my favorite dinner spot. I visited on a Sunday, mid-afternoon, had Greek Style Pork Chops, home made gravy, real mashed potatoes, plate garnished with small salad, Greek dressing......all of this, plus soup for $17... these were large, bone-in center cut pork chops, cooked just right.....way too much to eat, so a to-go container was supplied.......server was efficient and friendly. read more

Back in town for the first time in nearly a decade and was at first disappointed that Smith's restaurant was no longer there! I grew up spending my summers in Wauseon and going with my grandma to Smith's for homemade pies and great food! I wanted my kids to experience it! Saw the reviews for reviews for this place and saying a lot of positive things so I figured I'd give it a shake!!! First thing I noticed it still looks a lot like Smith's but some modern updates! The pie counter was still flowing with homemade pies and the smells of fresh food was still there! My early disappointment quickly left when I saw the menu and others food! I didn't know which way to order and wanted a lot of things! I settled on a cup of chicken noodle soup, chicken quesadillas and the chicken parmesan with spaghetti! All were winners and definitely get like I was back at Smith's! My wife got the all you could eat fish and it was outstanding! Great rub and not to thick! Comes with corn and a bake potato and definitely a home run! We unfortunately ate so much we didn't get dessert but will leave that for tomorrow for a midday snack! So impressed and glad the food is still outstanding even if the name changed! The waitress where Wearing masks, friendly service look like they have homemade pies they look so delicious. Well I ordered the Sunrise breakfast with includes 2 eggs half ordered of biscuits and gravy and bacon and so go go go juice coffee toke few pics. Food was OK, lettuce for salads had brown ends and a little wilty. Lettuce for sandwich was good, no issues. Great staff, very polite.

Stopped for a quick lunch and glad we made it because it was Sunday and they were closing at 3pm. I'm not sure if they close early every Sunday or not. We had soup and salad, delicious vegetable beef and chicken noodle. The salad was large and good. We just had to get a couple of pieces of pie for later, amazing selection. When your on the Ohio Turnpike you may feel you're stuck eating at the fast food restaurants that litter our roadways. Don't be afraid to get off and enjoy a classic, family run diner! This is place very authentic and you can be on and off the Ohio Turnpike in minutes and back on your way. It has a Greek feel to it and that plays out well in many of their dishes. Don't be shy - try something new! We were visiting at the height of COViD-19 and although some staff wore masks - not all did. This did not affect my rating or enjoyment but I figured I should mention it and customers can make their own decision as to weather or not it will impact their decision to bring in their business. read more
