We stopped in around noon on a Friday. The service was awesome! Our server was 5/5. I ordered the chorizo omelette and a side of bacon. The Mrs. had the Rueben sandwich. Both were good. My only issue is if you choose to not have potatoes with an omelette, you still have to pay for them. I found that as a kind of a weird diner policy. Many other diners take out the potato price. After living in the Sylvania area for 20 years, I decided to try the Sylvania Diner for the first time and my overall impression was "just ok". I went there on a Saturday morning for breakfast around 7:30 am. When I stepped in I was greeted by a weird and unpleasant smell. After taking a seat at a booth overlooking the parking lot, I noticed the table had an overall sticky feeling that is most likely a permanent feature. Though only 5 or 6 tables were occupied, the initial service was slow with only one waitress working. However she was quite pleasant and accommodating once she arrived. I ordered The Charlie with Ham, over medium and home fried potatoes. Portion size was good, typical for a Toledo area diner. Food quality was average and may have been better if I didn't have to endure that weird smell. Oh, and the glass of water had an off taste, at least to me. I was hoping to like it and go back for lunch sometime, but I'm not too sure that will happen anytime soon. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. The Star Diner, Grumpy's or the Mayberry Diner would be much better choices if looking for a place in the Sylvania area. read more

Had a fabulous country skillet for breakfast. It has all the things, mushrooms, onion, sausage, cheese with two poached eggs and sausage gravy over everything. Was supposed to come with green pepper but I don't care for them so I subbed in spinach and that was a great choice...they gave me plenty and it really added to the dish. My grandson had the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes and a sausage patty. He loved it. They have kids meals but he's a big eater and he did almost finish the two huge pancakes that he got from the regular menu. Our server was nice and checked on us regularly. They have a small parking lot and it was full so I thought we would have a wait but no we sat right down...so don't be intimidated if there aren't any or many parking spots. read more

This would have been three stars except for the excellent service. The Hollandaise was okay. The eggs were slightly over cooked, but everything tasted fine, but not exceptional. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I'll give them another try for lunch. read more

As a night shift worker this is my go to spot for breakfast and a drink in the morning. Who doesn't love a 2.00$ margarita and a full menu at 7am? The staff are very friendly, the pricing is great. They have a nice mix of traditional american fare as well as middle eastern classics. You wouldn't expect a place that serves omelettes and burgers to have great hummus and gyros, but they do! If you've never stopped in I highly recommend it. They also do fast pick up if you work nearby and need a quick lunch option. I would give it 5 stars, but the hours are limited and at times some of my fav menu items have been unavailable. read more

Was brought here by a friend in the area and really enjoyed my breakfast for so many levels. Other than the signage out front this place doesn't really stand out. Huge breakfasts for decent prices compared to the chains. Good coffee, refilled often and omlettes made to order in the style I love. Instead of the big whipped egg fluffy omlettes they use the whole grill to make a thin pancake of egg then it's wrapped around your choice of fillings. Will def be back when I am in the area to try some fo the lebanese goodies on the menu that I didn't get a chance to try. Very dive-y local kinda joint that yes, could use a serious make over but then I think you'd lose some of the charm places like this still have over the chain restaurant blandness many people have come to accept. "Happenstance" I started my day by going to get an oil change at Dave White Chevy. I didn't want to wait for an hour in the waiting room so I started walking up Sylvania Avenue towards the "Golden Arches" of McDonald's. Then, I caught the signage of the Sylvania Diner. I had previously seen Instagram photos of their corned beef hash and creamed beef. I had always assumed it was down Sylvania near Mancy's Steak House or White Tower. I finally walk in to a chorus of "Hellos"...Then, I was asked "for here or to go?" Everyone in the Diner stopped talking to hear my response. "Here please" Just to make simple, I order bacon, toast and eggs over medium. My food came out in less than 5 minutes. The toast was lightly toasted & buttered. Bacon was perfectly crispy and the eggs were exactly like I like them...crispy edges with the white part cooked! I ordered a glass of apple juice that was enough for two people for half the price I usually pay. The Aesthetics of the place could be tightened up a bit but I guess I shouldn't expect it to look like a place in Soho. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Sylvania Diner to anyone who needed a meal between errands or while waiting for an oil change. :) read more

Pretty good breakfast food, I am picky about both my eggs (over med well) and my bacon (well) and the majority of restaurants get both wrong...SD had no issues. So I just want to start out with that the wait staff was very nice and attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. Unfortunately that's where the good ends. Pretty much everything was sticky. My coffee mug was sticky despite me only drinking my coffee black, the table was sticky, and the bathrooms were atrocious. From there I ordered the 2 eggs, toast, and corned beef hash. The eggs were pretty standard and the toast was well buttered but there were a bunch of black flakes in my corned beef hash. Now you'd say "Well, they just cooked your corned beef a little longer so it was nice and crispy." To you I would say that my corned beef hash was barely warmed up and it wasn't even browned so this was due to a dirty griddle. The sad part was the restaurant was more than half empty so I'm not sure why they couldn't clean. All in all, might try again if the cleanliness improved. read more

We had a party of 12 for breakfast with out of town guests. All orders were not placed at the same time as to not overwhelm the kitchen. Sadly, the breakfast foods were unsatisfactory to inedible. Most of us left food. We had to ask for refills on the coffee and no plates were cleared before we left. No inquiry by the waitstaff if everything was ok. It was just the poorest service. I would've missed the place, if my sis-in-law hadn't told me where to turn -- almost camouflaged in a mini-strip. There's an American-diner side of the menu, and a Lebanese side of the menu. I wish I could give negative stars- this place gives new meaning to the word "awful." Waited 15 minutes after sitting down just to be greeted and asked what we wanted to drink. Our waitress argued with another in front of our table over who would have to take us (table of two- not too much work). Service was so rude we were actually laughing about it. Food took over an hour to come out and was cold and just not good. Interior of diner should have been a warning sign when we walked in- pretty dumpy building. No redeeming qualities. Food is great. Love going here with my family. We always have Diane Hahn she is the best server you could ever have. She takes great care of you and will tell you if something is worth trying or not and makes everyone feel like family! If you go in ask for DIANE HAHN and tip accordingly because the server wage is only 4.75 a hour and they live off good tips!! read more

I had breakfast after I was looking for a place and I was told about this Diner. I found it and it isn't far from my house and I didn't even know of it. It is a nice descent sized place with a good amount of parking. They had a pretty extensive sized menu with a lot of different choices of food. I had eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and a BOWL of fresh fruit.There are very friendly and helpful waitresses and thank goodness because I had several questions. Everything was good, descent prices and prepared as I requested. I was very satisfied. I came back this week to try other things that looked so good on the menu that I like. I had a Belgian Waffle with cherries, the bowl of fresh fruit again, corned beef hash, homefries and everything was very good. I really liked the Belgian waffle, probably best I've had. Cherries and sauce were thick not runny. Good size portions and as you might guess, I had to take the homefries home. I eat a lot but too big of eyes I guess. I wanted to try different offerings they had. I enjoyed all that I had and I think I found a favorite restraunt. Next time I am going to try the Rueben sandwich and home made soup or one of their big salads. I can't believe I never knew this place was here. I would suggest this diner to anyone.
