The Charlie with Eggs Over Medium, Ham, and Home Fry Potatoes covered with Sausage Gravy.
    Mark D.

After living in the Sylvania area for 20 years, I decided to try the Sylvania Diner for the first time and my overall impression was "just ok". I went there on a Saturday morning for breakfast around 7:30 am. When I stepped in I was greeted by a weird and unpleasant smell. After taking a seat at a booth overlooking the parking lot, I noticed the table had an overall sticky feeling that is most likely a permanent feature. Though only 5 or 6 tables were occupied, the initial service was slow with only one waitress working. However she was quite pleasant and accommodating once she arrived. I ordered The Charlie with Ham, over medium and home fried potatoes. Portion size was good, typical for a Toledo area diner. Food quality was average and may have been better if I didn't have to endure that weird smell. Oh, and the glass of water had an off taste, at least to me. I was hoping to like it and go back for lunch sometime, but I'm not too sure that will happen anytime soon. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. The Star Diner, Grumpy's or the Mayberry Diner would be much better choices if looking for a place in the Sylvania area.

This would have been three stars except for the excellent service. The Hollandaise was okay. The eggs were slightly over cooked, but everything tasted fine, but not exceptional. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I'll give them another try for lunch.

The food here is amazing and the service is fast, running short on time you can be in and out quickly.

As a night shift worker this is my go to spot for breakfast and a drink in the morning. Who doesn't love a 2.00$ margarita and a full menu at 7am? The staff are very friendly, the pricing is great. They have a nice mix of traditional american fare as well as middle eastern classics. You wouldn't expect a place that serves omelettes and burgers to have great hummus and gyros, but they do! If you've never stopped in I highly recommend it. They also do fast pick up if you work nearby and need a quick lunch option. I would give it 5 stars, but the hours are limited and at times some of my fav menu items have been unavailable.

Was brought here by a friend in the area and really enjoyed my breakfast for so many levels. Other than the signage out front this place doesn't really stand out. Huge breakfasts for decent prices compared to the chains. Good coffee, refilled often and omlettes made to order in the style I love. Instead of the big whipped egg fluffy omlettes they use the whole grill to make a thin pancake of egg then it's wrapped around your choice of fillings. Will def be back when I am in the area to try some fo the lebanese goodies on the menu that I didn't get a chance to try. Very dive-y local kinda joint that yes, could use a serious make over but then I think you'd lose some of the charm places like this still have over the chain restaurant blandness many people have come to accept. PS: I love the blue sky panels over the recessed flourecesnt lighting

White toast, crispy bacon and eggs over medium

"Happenstance" I started my day by going to get an oil change at Dave White Chevy. I didn't want to wait for an hour in the waiting room so I started walking up Sylvania Avenue towards the "Golden Arches" of McDonald's. Then, I caught the signage of the Sylvania Diner. I had previously seen Instagram photos of their corned beef hash and creamed beef. I had always assumed it was down Sylvania near Mancy's Steak House or White Tower. I finally walk in to a chorus of "Hellos"...Then, I was asked "for here or to go?" Everyone in the Diner stopped talking to hear my response. "Here please" Just to make simple, I order bacon, toast and eggs over medium. My food came out in less than 5 minutes. The toast was lightly toasted & buttered. Bacon was perfectly crispy and the eggs were exactly like I like them...crispy edges with the white part cooked! I ordered a glass of apple juice that was enough for two people for half the price I usually pay. The Aesthetics of the place could be tightened up a bit but I guess I shouldn't expect it to look like a place in Soho. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Sylvania Diner to anyone who needed a meal between errands or while waiting for an oil change. :)

Super breakfast each and every time. I write this review to contrast the poor meal I was served at Grumpy's in Sylvania.

Cute little spot with authentic Lebanese American food. Try the chili mac - it is what they are known for.

While I did not experience the ambiance at Grape Leaf Diner today, I can say from a past visit that the atmosphere is clean, bright with lots of windows, and with comfortable chairs and booths. The restaurant is located near or within a small strip mall at the Holland, OH location. (The Grape Leaf Express location in Toledo, OH located on Monroe St near Franklin Park Mall is also in a strip mall.) The food ordered today included chicken shawarma, yellow rice with vegetables (green beans, corn and peas), hummus, pita bread, and a Greek salad. There was also a dish of grilled vegetables that included squash and zucchini. While I didn't want to be rude and photograph food in the middle of the party, I took some screenshots posted by the restaurant to give you an idea of the food presentation. The salad ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Hummus was perfectly flavored. I always wish that Mediterranean rice had more vegetables, though it was delicious. I found the chicken shawarma a bit salty, but I'm salt-sensitive, so most people probably would love it; the meat was lean. As for the zucchini and squash vegetables, they looked delicious but we didn't have plastic knives, and I couldn't manage to cut them or eat them with the plastic forks. It was a beautiful presentation and I recommend that you give this restaurant a try! A tip for summer weather: the A/C was cranked up high when I was last there... maybe bring a jacket or sweater if you tend to run cold.

The menu goes beyond the basic…read moreshawarma/hummus/falafel things to include offerings like braised lamb shanks, yogurt kibbe, a huge selection of meat and cheese pies, besides a number of "Americanized" choices. The chicken shawarma is excellent, nicely seared but still juicy. Salads have been very good, with strongly (but not too strongly) lemony dressings, Falafels are crisp on the outside, a little soggier than I'd like on the inside--not that that stopped me from scarfing them down! Hummus is about as good as you'll find. Good as the food is, the service can be a bit slow. The market side is small, doesn't have a huge selection, but still a solid representation of mediterranean cooking basics (and seriously...just how many brands of tahini do you need???). And it's clean! A very economical olive bar and well-stocked meat case are musts for a visit here. In the latter, you'll find a little bit of beef, a little bit of chicken, a little bit of goat, but a whole lotta lamb, everything from tongues to trotters, at far below supermarket prices. While I like to sample a variety of places, Muna is taking away my incentive to explore other middle eastern restaurants in Toledo. It's a pleasant rut to be stuck in.
