The Charlie with Eggs Over Medium, Ham, and Home Fry Potatoes covered with Sausage Gravy.
    Mark D.

After living in the Sylvania area for 20 years, I decided to try the Sylvania Diner for the first time and my overall impression was "just ok". I went there on a Saturday morning for breakfast around 7:30 am. When I stepped in I was greeted by a weird and unpleasant smell. After taking a seat at a booth overlooking the parking lot, I noticed the table had an overall sticky feeling that is most likely a permanent feature. Though only 5 or 6 tables were occupied, the initial service was slow with only one waitress working. However she was quite pleasant and accommodating once she arrived. I ordered The Charlie with Ham, over medium and home fried potatoes. Portion size was good, typical for a Toledo area diner. Food quality was average and may have been better if I didn't have to endure that weird smell. Oh, and the glass of water had an off taste, at least to me. I was hoping to like it and go back for lunch sometime, but I'm not too sure that will happen anytime soon. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. The Star Diner, Grumpy's or the Mayberry Diner would be much better choices if looking for a place in the Sylvania area.

This would have been three stars except for the excellent service. The Hollandaise was okay. The eggs were slightly over cooked, but everything tasted fine, but not exceptional. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I'll give them another try for lunch.

The food here is amazing and the service is fast, running short on time you can be in and out quickly.

As a night shift worker this is my go to spot for breakfast and a drink in the morning. Who doesn't love a 2.00$ margarita and a full menu at 7am? The staff are very friendly, the pricing is great. They have a nice mix of traditional american fare as well as middle eastern classics. You wouldn't expect a place that serves omelettes and burgers to have great hummus and gyros, but they do! If you've never stopped in I highly recommend it. They also do fast pick up if you work nearby and need a quick lunch option. I would give it 5 stars, but the hours are limited and at times some of my fav menu items have been unavailable.

Was brought here by a friend in the area and really enjoyed my breakfast for so many levels. Other than the signage out front this place doesn't really stand out. Huge breakfasts for decent prices compared to the chains. Good coffee, refilled often and omlettes made to order in the style I love. Instead of the big whipped egg fluffy omlettes they use the whole grill to make a thin pancake of egg then it's wrapped around your choice of fillings. Will def be back when I am in the area to try some fo the lebanese goodies on the menu that I didn't get a chance to try. Very dive-y local kinda joint that yes, could use a serious make over but then I think you'd lose some of the charm places like this still have over the chain restaurant blandness many people have come to accept. PS: I love the blue sky panels over the recessed flourecesnt lighting

White toast, crispy bacon and eggs over medium

"Happenstance" I started my day by going to get an oil change at Dave White Chevy. I didn't want to wait for an hour in the waiting room so I started walking up Sylvania Avenue towards the "Golden Arches" of McDonald's. Then, I caught the signage of the Sylvania Diner. I had previously seen Instagram photos of their corned beef hash and creamed beef. I had always assumed it was down Sylvania near Mancy's Steak House or White Tower. I finally walk in to a chorus of "Hellos"...Then, I was asked "for here or to go?" Everyone in the Diner stopped talking to hear my response. "Here please" Just to make simple, I order bacon, toast and eggs over medium. My food came out in less than 5 minutes. The toast was lightly toasted & buttered. Bacon was perfectly crispy and the eggs were exactly like I like them...crispy edges with the white part cooked! I ordered a glass of apple juice that was enough for two people for half the price I usually pay. The Aesthetics of the place could be tightened up a bit but I guess I shouldn't expect it to look like a place in Soho. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Sylvania Diner to anyone who needed a meal between errands or while waiting for an oil change. :)

I realized however that I didn't realize the challenges that elderly/disabled people face when dining out. I had taken my mom to her cardiologist and he suggested that I take my mom out for a late lunch- which I enthusiastically embraced. Upon arriving at My Way Bistro, we were able to park in a handicapped parking spot with a slope to the sidewalk, which was helpful to my mom, who relies upon a walker for mobility. Upon arriving inside the restaurant, we were given our choice of booths or tables. I never realized before that the tables and booths are very high for someone with limited ability to lift their arms. There were no other options that we saw and my mom did her best to settle into a booth that I found comfortable but the table was clearly too high for my mom. She was a great sport however and made do with the high tabled booth. My mom ordered a lamb gyro with fries and I ordered my usual Georgia Reuben with fries. My mom was very pleased with her gyro. It had lots of vegetables and meat, and she said the tszazicki (sp?) sauce was delicious. She also enjoyed the fries. I loved my Georgia Reuben because the cole slaw has a kick of black pepper and other ingredients that make it taste amazing. The homemade Thousand Island dressing was soooo delicious! I was a little disappointed in the fries because they were fried more than I prefer but were still good. Best of all, we both took home leftovers! Seriously, the plates couldn't adequately support the generous portions of food with heaping amounts of fries- and I say that as a good thing! The ambiance is that of an upscale sports bar, but was pretty quiet when we were there, even though screens were turned on. Our server was very responsive and efficient. Overall a great experience and I definitely recommend checking out My Way Bistro for amazing sandwiches (also offer salads that I haven't yet tried) that are levels up from typical bar food.

Found a parking spot not too far from the entry as the wind chill was in the single digits. MyWay was crowded, but we were seated right away. Needless to say, the noise volume was elevated. There was a large group of people on our side of the restaurant that seemed to know one another. They were rather boisterous and seemed to have consumed a fair amount of alcohol. Even witnessed a middle aged woman who could hardly walk out on her own. Prior to her bumper-pool walking style on the way out, as she was seated, she hoisted up her leg and placed her heel on the man's shoulder she was with. Mercy! Alcohol can cause strange events to happen. We both ordered the Blackened Salmon Quinoa Salad with the Walnut Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing. Salad cost $18. To me, the salmon portion was a bit smaller than anticipated, but had a good blacked spiced mix and done very nicely.

Today, I had the Italian Beef Sandwich with hot peppers and marinade on the side. Although hard to eat (the damned things falls apart too easily), it was fantastic. I've had more than a few of these, in Chicago none the less, and this version is honestly one of the best. It's better than Portillo's, and almost as good as Johnie's. Choose your peppers...hot, mild, and/or sweet! Plan to use your fingers to get what falls off the roll, because you won't want to waste a single morsel. Drink the marinade/dip while you're at it. The menu is pretty extensive, and breakfast seems to be featured. I saw another customer's plate, and her bacon, eggs, and pancake looked incredible. The place is small and a little tight, but you can eat in-house. Only one table seats more than 2. Service was fast and friendly. Very friendly. Yeah, I am remiss. I really should be eating here more often. Strictly breakfast and lunch. 5 stars for now.

This truly a wonderful experience for all ages and varying tastes. A tremendous and welcome change we've come to endure from other dining experiences. Here the customer is THE primary focus from the moment you walk in til you walk out the door - BRAVO!! The food, had the Mayberry Mega where you pick your 6 omelette ingredients. Normally a crap shoot in most diners but here it was a home run. The ham and sausage were nice size chunks, juicy, and full of flavor. Spinach, onions, and tomatoes were fresh and perfect sizes and good quantities for the dish. That leaves the cheese my one "ding" would have preferred shredded cheese vs sliced cheese because of flavor and texture - but it didn't take away from a wonderfully prepared omelette made and severed with genuine care. Potatoes were frozen BUT they were prepared exceptionally well for dinner dare they were soft and cooked with a nice crisp. It was a superb surprise and a very welcome one. The coffee was fresh and hot and the standard "acidic" coffees you'd find in most diners anywhere, but overall inviting enough to have a few cups for a discerning coffee "snob" like me. Place was PACKED so all tables and booth were full, but they have a nice counter service with plenty of seating and space to move and eat and be very comfortable for your meal. What's fascinating is the incredible teamwork and collective desire to ensure your time, experience, and meal are spent enjoying your company and food not staring at your watch wondering about time. The entire restaurant was seated, served, and cleared with clean tables within the time I had to get and consume my own breakfast. So if you see a packed house on your arrival and don't desire that counter seat fear not - in this home environment your wait will be short and your day will lose no valuable time - well worth some minimal patience - you'll be glad you did. Your greeted as soon as you walk in by one or more of the extremely hardworking waitresses with a smile - your also sent off with a "Thank you. have a Good Day" by one more waitresses as you leave - both excellent touch of service class enhancing customer experience. I've never seen a more well-run diner or any restaurant from the waitresses to the cooks to the dishwashers the teamwork, attention to details, customer satisfaction, and to the incredible cleanliness of the restaurant despite the constant flow of customers - I've never seen a restaurant so clean and kept so clean the out the day.
