Our favorite breakfast spot in Toledo. We get the most bang for our buck and the food is very delicious. The menu has a wide range of options to choose from We got the ham & greyere omelette and added spinach which was one of the best omelettes I've had. The combo was a perfect mix of cheese with the saltiness and flavor of the ham. We also got the avocado toast with the basted egg which was very fresh. They used some very fresh avocados, it seems they used the whole avocado cause we surely weren't lacking. The biscuits and gravy were extremely good. The biscuits had a slight crunch and were freshly made. The turkey gravy was flavorful and light The drinks are premade but also very well done. Slightly on the sweeter side but still well done The restaurant was packed with a 15-20 min wait but there's a community table that we sat at and we were seated immediately, fun hack for couples. For the most part I really love this place. The ambience and modern rustic vibe with mindful ingredients and great choices to eat and drink are worth coming in for! I was told they don't take reservations but that we could sign in to the waitlist. When we got in there was nobody under our group's name.. not sure if we didn't do it right but was a little confused by that. Either way, we were able to get a table right away, a nice booth in the back at that. It's kid friendly too which is always a plus. There is so much deliciousness on the menu it's great! There is something for everyone and all of it tastes great. I will say the chickichanga I had was a bit spicy but still really good. Also, you have to try the different drinks they have! I got the kale tonic and caramel crunch coffee, both AMAZING! Although if you're lactose intolerant I'd ask for dairy free milk and if you're not into sweet stuff this is probably not for you. I love First Watch. I first started going to First Watch in Oklahoma and was so excited when they opened in Woodhaven and Toledo. I ordered the Pumpkin Pancakes and they were just ok. The eggs were actually better than the pancakes and I don't really like eggs. Sausage was interesting - apple but good flavor. Service was good. I also like the self checkout option on the receipt. What an unfortunate meal. My wife's food was as average as could be but at least it was edible. My 'elevated' egg sandwich looked like a crime scene. It was barely able to be rated let alone enjoyed. The newest craze. I remember going to a Yelp event at another First Watch location when First Watch really got popular. Its a chain but a consistent chain. Always a wait but service is good. I'm not real big on a healthy breakfast. If I want that, I stay home but believe it or not I still had a gift card from that yelp event from 3 years ago. I always get the millionaire bacon. Has just the right amount of crunch. Im not a fan of their pancakes but if you want a healthy pancake option, go for it. Then I get the trifecta. Waffle eggs n bacon. Consistently good. OK, I've been here twice. The first time I had issues with the service and the food was just so-so. The eggs weren't cooked right, I wanted hot sauce and they only had 1 kind of bread for toast. I admit, it was some time ago. I did complain and the manager covered my breakfast and gave me a $20 gift card. I was really disappointed and had no intention of going back, so I gave the gift card to 2 senior ladies having breakfast on my way out the door. Today was better, but... I had eggs Benedict with a fruit cup and coffee. The fruit was delicious, as was the coffee. The eggs... The eggs were perfectly poached which is a huge plus! Unfortunately, the rest of the components were really off. One of the best parts of Eggs Benedict would be the Hondaise sauce. Theirs had a nice consistency, but it tasted of all lemon. Absolutely no butter, salt or cayenne. Really disappointing. The next miss was their use of ham lunch meat. Seriously, who would do that and think it would be appropriate? It looked and tasted like Carl Budding ham. The next issue is the bread. The traditional choice would be English muffins. They used some type of flat bread and it wasn't toasted or buttered. Really disappointing. They did add some sliced tomato which would be nice, but they're waaaaaaay out of season, so it didn't add much. My dining partner had their breakfast trio (pancake, eggs and sausage) and said it was fine. All in, the bill came to just shy of $40 bucks without the tip. OUCH!!! There are much better choices within a few blocks from this place. The meal would have been worth it if it was closer to $10-$12 bucks each. No way was this worth what they charged. read more

Although this place is generally well regarded I personally didn't quite feel the same after eating here. Service was decent nothing out of this world. The decor was nice and seemed new a cool kitchen theme. however it doesn't do much to block any sound and made it quite hard to converse it was very loud. The food was mid especially for the price. Eggs overdone same as potatoes. Lemonade was not very sweet more like lemon water. Breakfast tacos were alright chorizo wasn't the best I've had and found the salsa to be just cut up tomatoes. I had a great experience with my server and the food! The only grievance I have is with the hostess. My party had come in and there was one group in front us and within 5 minutes the lobby was filled. We then saw 3 party's get sat before us. When I asked the hostess why he said "they checked in online". Not only do I feel like this is unfair but if you're able to check in online and skip the line then what's the point of checking in at the door. When the vegan breakfast places are no where insight this is a go to. I usually order the market with no eggs or cheese and the avocado toast with no eggs. Coffee comes to the table and stays do you can refill as you need it. It is usually pretty busy, yet they maintain decent customer service. They don't do price adjustments or have a way for you to pay a reasonable amount for not getting meat or meat by products so you end up paying just as much for a meal as if you had gotten all of that. read more

Hello! I went to the Secor Rd location in Toledo on yesterday (Dec 22) for brunch. It was a group of 6 of us. We arrived around 1:40pm and the hostess let me know that as long as we ordered by 2:30pm we would be ok, since they closed at 2:30pm. Upon sitting and ordering, one of my guests noticed her glass had lipstick marks on it and asked for another one. As I prepared to order tea, the mug was also very dirty. We simply asked for new glasses/mugs and continued on with ordering. The group received our meals and after taking the first bite of my toast I noticed a long piece of hair in my food. I let the waiter know and he (don't remember his name) removed it and stated they would remake it. He did not apologize and a manager never came out to apologize. He returned my second meal close to 2:30pm. My group was pretty much finished eating at the time I received my second meal. I literally was trying to eat very fast because the waiter began to rush us and even mentioned to one of us that they had a Christmas party once we left so they weren't making any more coffee. Although I felt a bit offended by the gesture and the obvious issues, I began to gather my things without finishing my brunch. While I understood the excitement of the staff for their party during the holidays, the customers should not be privy to that info as it relates to service. The waiter then brought all of the checks, inclusive of a full priced check for me. I asked him would I be receiving a discount for the inconvenience and unsanitary presentation of hair. He told me no because they made it over for me. He then stated he would talk to a manager. He returned with a $2 discount that didn't even cover my beverage. At this point, I was very frustrated with the service I had been receiving since sitting at our table. I asked for the manager. The manager arrived to our table without introducing herself or leading the conversation with "how was your meal", "was everything ok". She basically said abruptly "how can I help you". I explained the entire experience in a low tone as not to draw attention to our conversation. This is when the situation went from unfortunate to a bad and offensive experience. First, her voice was raised as if she was trying to allow her staff (sitting near by) to hear the interaction. This was the opposite of what I was trying to do. Upon sharing the experience, the manager in a condescending and patronizing manner, stated the following "did we remake it?" - "and how was the second one? Did you like it?" As if to say "what are you complaining for and why am I here?" Once I replied yes regarding the second meal, she stood there and just looked at me. She didn't apologize. I then asked her name because she never provided it. So, I proceeded to ask STACY (the manager), does she or her staff apologize for inconveniences, do they offer some sort of discount for it, was there any consideration to the fact that my food came back last and I was rushed to finish and actually never did because the waiter was obviously rushing us for the party. She again, just stared at me and asked "what do you want me to do"? At this point, I am extremely upset at her condescending, nonchalant and rude response. I told her that I wanted the skillet taken off of my bill and I would pay for my beverage. She begrudgingly agreed and walked off. At this point my entire group was offended by her response. As we began to leave around 2:40pm I noticed a couple in the back of the restaraunt still eating. There were no staff members at the table or appearing to rush them. My entire visit was not pleasant at all. It was meant to be a Christmas brunch for a group of us in which we exchanged gifts. It turned out to be a very uncomfortable and even offensive afternoon. I actually frequent this location and had just been there a week prior. Food may be ok, but service from the staff on this day, not so much! read more

Had traditional breakfast. Bacon was over crispy and tasted burnt. Potatoes tasted like an entire saltshaker was emptied on them and were totally inedible. Complained about potatoes to waitress and was offered fruit cup (not allowed on my diet). Complained to cashier and was told, "lots of people are complaining about potatoes being too salty. But potatoes come preseasoned, so there's nothing they can do about it." No offer for any type of compensation beyond a fruit cup I could not have. Cannot recommend for breakfast. read more

Was in the mood for a late morning omelette and I'd been curious about this place for a while. From their web site, I was pleased learn that First Watch offered greens in place of potatoes for us low-carbers, which sealed the deal. I got in around 11:15 and the place (very open, with a touch of rustic chic) was about 3/4 full. There were three parties ahead of me in line waiting to be seated. (This was on a Tuesday, not a peak weekend brunch time.) Obviously a popular spot. Had my order taken quickly, and the server had no problem with my request for more greens in place of toast. The gruyere-ham omelette was excellent. Though the outer edges were a bit dry, it was fluffy and light for the most part, with lots of ham inside and just enough cheese (on top and inside) to complement that instead of drowning it out. Greens were fresh, and came with a tart vinaigrette dressing. The only downside here the price. My omelette was around $10. There are certainly cheaper ones nearby, but I've rarely had an omelette at a diner, anywhere, as good as the one I ate at First Watch. I knew going in this wasn't a penny pincher's paradise, and there are worse omelettes for the same price in the neighborhood. read more

OK...a little more detail: The mainstay of my breakfast has always been the omelette...I like to break my fast with a "big plate of protein." In this department, FW is mediocre at best. The omelettes seem small-ish and, although they may seem creative, are actually quite pedestrian. They come with one thick slice of buttered toast with preserves, and fresh greens. Yes, the omelettes come with a small salad on the plate...ask for some house dressing...I'm serious. First watch excels at items that might be considered "outside the box." Their avocado toast (picture thick-cut toast topped with scoops of not-very-spicy guacamole) is excellent. The lemon ricotta pancakes are also fantastic, and this time of year, you can't go wrong with pumpkin pancakes. And the banana granola pancake? Yep, it was really good. The location is great: FW is smack dab in the heart of the resurgent Secor corridor, which, itself, is smack dab in the middle of the Toledo metro area. The service, two out of three times, was great. The first time I went in, however, I actually wondered if I would be waited on. Speaking of "wait," depending upon when you arrive, there can be a substantial wait time before your party is seated. There are some "call-ahead" options available via Yelp, and the First Watch app. Yeah, FIrst Watch is a hip trendy chain...I tend to knock off stars for that offense...but my wife really loves this place. So, if I don't give FW at least four stars, she'll divorce me. Also, I must admit that FW certainly increases the diversity of breakfast options in this town. not to be a hater i love the food so much i bought a cookbook but eating at this place is the worst experience. They sat us next to the door where there should be a bench for the wait but instead there's a table and the door keeps getting left open when the weather is 30 degrees and there is a gap between the window and the glass wall so the wind is just gusting in and we are shivering the whole time. People then come in and there's a wait and they have no where to sit so as we are sitting next to the front door in an area where there should probably be a bench for the wait, there are people standing over us, and i feel uncomfortable. there just should not be a table next to the front door who does that i felt like i should've just ate outside at that point. anyways i bought a cookbook so i'll be making my eggs and toast next time at home if the owner is looking at this please take the advice about putting a bench in the lobby and removing that table i felt very disrespected being sat there or even thinking a table there would be a good idea. This place is so hip, located by Whole Foods and seems to cater to same customer lol no shade but it's very health conscious organic cuisine. Delicately plated and fresh. The coffee is strong and smooth and the fresh pressed juice is refreshing and delicious. The brunch menu is perfection in our books and we both got the smoked salmon Benedict with the house roasted potatoes. Everything arrived fast. We had a slight mix up with the side salad we added but the waitress noticed before we even mentioned, apologized, took it off the bill abs also brought us the greens anyways. Simple raw flavors shine and I was shocked to find out this place was actually a chain!
