Yesterday, I was served this after ordering a 3 cheese omelette with hash browns and rye toast. Cheese was still cold and not melted in the least. The purple haired waitress tried gaslighting me by saying "it looks melted to me!" And offered to microwave it (after I already had the fork in my mouth and in my food on the plate). About 5 minutes later she came back, laid down the check and (I'm not exaggerating) snatched the plate away from me just after I sat my fork down from taking a bite of hash browns. All in all, I got a half order of hash browns and 2 slices of rye toast for $4.99. I left a review on Google to which the owner replied and promptly had removed. Good thing I shared it on social media and it made its rounds before it was removed. If I could give this experience -5 stars, I would. Absolute worst in my 50 years on this Earth. The Ohio Board of Health needs to check into this place because offering to reheat someone's contaminated food is DEFINITELY a health concern!!! read more

We stop at the classic cafe for an after church breakfast and to celebrate the baptismal of three people. The place was small but they got our big party right in. The service was excellent and the food was very delicious I ordered a classic omelette. It was the perfect amount of food for the money and made to perfection. After doing a quick Google search, we decided to try classic Café. I know it's been a Sylvania staple for years, but we've never made our way over there. And I am highly disappointed that I didn't go sooner! This was by far the best omelette breakfast I had ever had in Toledo! It was so good that I've already shared my experience with friends and I've been talking about how good my breakfast was for the past half an hour. Classic Cafe is dying. The old bustling cafe full of conversation and good food is gone. Stopped in for a piece of pie and coffee. Only a choice of 3 pies, we got an apple and a rhubarb, both served ice cold. Rhubarb was terrible and apple was not even on par with McDonalds. The day of warm apple pie with a scoop of ice cream is gone. Ordered a Cobb Salad to-go. Dried up chicken pieces and hard lumps of bacon, the blue cheese was all dried up and it was actually growing mold. Threw it all out! The only positive thing I can say is the coffee was good. My wife and I have eaten at Classic regularly for some years, so it is high time that I write a review for these wonderful people - and they really are. The place is as advertised, home cooking in a family atmosphere, not a contrived atmosphere - you really feel like you are at home. The wait staff are friendly, down to earth, and really enjoy interacting with the customers and each other. Mary is hilarious, dishing out deadpan humor as well as hearty down home cooking. The food isn't fancy: meatloaf, hamburgers, steak, roast turkey, and the standard mix of sandwiches and salads. My favorite has become the roast beef dinner. It's fork-tender, lean, and served with mashed potatoes, gravy and a vegetable. The only thing that I cannot rave about is the chili. It's good, but not as spicy as I would like. It's definitely appealing to the senior crowd (including yours truly) , but you do see the occasional 50 year old, and perhaps a few grandkids. Whatever your age, if you like really good simple food served by really nice people, this is the place for you. read more

at first i was charmed with this quaint breakfast hole in the wall. as i sat down i noticed the servers all running about. they looked busy but all of them looked like they just rolled out of bed. i was scared for these people to touch my food. and my personal server was not that nice, but she was an older woman so of course i still tipped her well. before we got our food i noticed a server lick her fingers and continue to serve her tables. when the food came it looked subpar at best. i ordered a chocolate chip pancake and received a pancake and chocolate chips. decent food. decent service. decent price. read more

This is a great no frills diner. The food is on point with other classic american "geriatric fair". Lots of throwback comfort classics like meatloaf, fried bologna, tuna noodle casserole, Salisbury Steak. It's like eating at Grandma's house minus the cheek pinching and stale butterscotch candies. Their breakfast specials can't be beat in terms of price. The service is FAST. As a night shift worker I love being able to order fish and chips at 7am after a rough night. I haven't ordered any yet, but rumor has it their pies and other "old time" desserts- bread pudding etc are made from scrarch. The daily specials aren't what you'd find at most "Sylvania" area restaurants. The price and selection feel like a small town back road gem. Excellent Service and awesome diner food. The turkey melt and sweet potato fries are especially good. The quality is consistent... started eating here back in 2001, moved out of state in 2003 until recently, and - when I finally started coming back to the CC - all the items were just as delicious as I remember. This is probably due, in part, to so many of the staff working there for over a decade. It's been mentioned that an older crowd frequents this diner, which is true. I am often one of the younger (or youngest) customers there, but - come on - why would this stop young people from eating here? Older folks are usually polite and quiet. It's always more difficult to review a place when you are not local to the area. I'm not from this area. I have been here twice and both times I have been happy with the food. The first time I visited I got a burger and the past time I ordered the Classic Omelet. I have been very please with the quality of food compared to price. The location and decor is nothing to write home about but hey it's a mom and pops style diner what more could you ask for. I went to Classic Cafe this afternoon for a meal with a friend, totally forgetting that it might be crowded because of St. Patty's Day. This was my very first visit to the establishment and I was actually pleasantly greeted upon walking in the door. It was definitely crowded but there never was any problem getting service. The place reminded me quite fondly of my father who passed long ago, because we used to go together to diners like this all the time when I was growing up. Overall, my meal was bountiful in portion and more than enjoyable, especially the homemade pie (chocolate peanut butter) that I took home. They have a very good selection for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert and I saw many things I'd like to come back and try next time. I have to say one of the highlights of my dinner was meeting one of the owners, Mary, who spent a considerable amount of time interacting with her patrons. She really does an incredible job making people have that home-cooking feel to her place. I will start with my waitress was very nice & her service was great! Now everything else... The French toast was disgusting. It's like they soaked it in bread for a half hour before cooking it & it turned into a weird egg bread gross lump. Eggs were cold. Bacon was thin but ok. Sausage was frozen in the middle. Spouse got biscuits and gravy. Said the biscuits tasted like pure flour & his sausage was uncooked too. I wanted to like this place because it's close but never ever ever again. Got to star diner down the road. But my waitress once again was awesome. I only said something about the French toast & they did remove that with out that it still came to 18.00 which I felt was too much especially with the food we received. read more
