I LOVE THIS PLACE! Definitely one of my favorite spots in Toledo and a bang for your buck! They have everything and anything you would want for breakfast! The nicest people work there and are very welcoming and although they are always busy I never feel rushed out. They do not accept reservations or calling ahead, but do a great job managing the wait times and letting you know about how long you have until you need to wait. Definitely worth the wait time and time again! Pancakes are fluffy, coffee is hot, the people are nice, and there is so many options to choose from! The place is cozy, warm and I love going there. It's a family run business. Everyone that works here is very friendly and it looks like it's been here since the 70s which I guess it has. Star of the show here is the pancakes and you can order a half order which is three or a full order of six. Pancakes are a great size and you will have leftovers unless you come in starving. I got a side of sausage links I was not really a fan of. Just an odd aftertaste to me. My friend got some bacon with her pancakes and she said that's the way to go. Solid breakfast spot in Toledo. Random but their American cheese scrambled eggs were so tasty. I'd skip all the fancy sauces and stick with maple syrup. Sausage links were those long script ones which I love. Literally you can make any combo you want and the pancakes, as advertised, were fluffy and delicious. Service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive. The ambience is like an old school mom and pop diner, which we all enjoyed. The food was pretty good. My brother enjoyed his Western Omelette. My eggs benedict was good, but i much prefer one with canadian bacon than ham. My mother enjoyed her breakfast but felt it a little bland. I honestly don't remember the first time I've been to an OPH. It was probably many many years ago when I was still in my teens, in which case I would not have developed any true appreciation for some of the Dutch specialty items they offer. Since then, I've only just recently been back to try their signature dishes. I took my family for the first time very recently, and I felt the obligation to order a few of these signature dishes. I went with a Dutch Baby and a Dutch Garden. Gotta tell ya.. they were a perfect pair of hearty + sweet. In fact, I regretted not ordering a full size Dutch. Adding the Sweets was definitely a way to go. Condiments were brought out first. I was initially a bit concerned looking at the combination of butter, powdered sugar, lemon wedges, strawberries, bananas and fruit syrup. In fact, I had to ask the server what the proper way of mising those in were. Once I followed the instructions and poured everything onto the pancake, it turned out to be perfectly balanced sweet treat. Dutch Garden reminded me of quiche. It must have been the strong egg flavor with integrated garden veggies. It was definitely tasty. How I know that? Because my daughter barely left me one bite to eat.. :-) We went on a Sunday and it was definitely busy. Managers told me I should try coming earlier or later, avoiding lunch rush. I've been going here since the place opened waaaaay back in the 70s. It's become a tradition for me to go here around my b-day for my favorite pancakes and Toledo's best bacon, hands down... The waitstaff is always on their game. Very fast and efficient. Always kind and eager to please. Even the bus folks will re-fill your water if needed. Really nice! Oh, it's super clean too! My go to breakfast here is the 49 Flapjacks. These are almost like crepes. Really thin with a nice chew. They're as big as the plate they're served on, served with GOBS of delicious butter. These things are slightly sweet, golden brown and absolutely delicious - INSANE! The maddening thing is I can't figure out how they make them... God, I wish I could. The closest I can come to are Swedish pancakes, but they're just not the same. The other essential part of this breakfast is their bacon! I don't know what brand of bacon they use (I was told Hormel Black Label, but I don't think it is...). It's thick sliced and cooked to absolute perfection, every time. Not too crispy with just the right amount of chew. Very smoky and slightly sweet. GOD, I WANT SOME RIGHT NOW!!! Their coffee is also delicious. Those of you who like that insipid, weak, "hot water coffee" should probably get something else. Original's coffee is strong, full-flavored coffee. Sooooooo, 1 thing about this place - it's expensive. That's why I tend to go here once per year. There are a few things you can do to cut down on the price... Order a half order of the pancakes. It's plenty for a nice, hardy meal. Also, get a half order of bacon. Again, it's plenty for a nice meal (OK, I know I could eat waaaay more, but let's not be piggish!). A half order of pancakes, bacon and coffee will set you back $15 bucks. That's a lot for breakfast, but you can't get this stuff anywhere else. Just ate here this afternoon and I was nervous to show up so close to closing for fear of rushed service but I was wrong. Missy was our server and she was phenomenal. Loved her personality and quick wit. We are in town for a funeral and it was so nice to have a fun and positive encounter. And the pancakes were legit. Updated review! The best I've ever tasted in a restaurant. The service could have been better. I had to ask for a refill of coffee and water. The waier also never asked if I needed anything else. He came by once after I got my meal and asked howbit was, but never came by again until he delivered the check. The server for the tables behind me, Mia, was very attentive to her guests, making several trips with water and a coffee pot, and I could tell that she paid attention to detail. Been driving by this place for month and always wanted to stop today I said screw it im super hungry im gonna stop. So it's got a big parking lot it gets super busy up in here. Im here around 715am and it's pretty slow not a lot of people. The inside is all brick walls look , tables are wood and booths even move so fat people like me can sit. The OG Pancake House is a Toledo institution, even if it is part of a national chain. The food is served in serious portions and is HEAVY. It is impossible to leave this place hungry. I recently tried the "Eggs Michael" for the first time. Somehow I never noticed it on the menu, but it's a savory flavor bomb. Mushroom sherry gravy on top of poached eggs, sausage and an english muffin. It comes with potato pancakes which just add to the savory overload. I should have gotten the apple sauce instead of the sour cream side. My bad. Rookie mistake. We don't go here often because it's usually packed on the weekends. I don't claim to be an expert in French cuisine, but I'll tell you what, I thought the crepes at TOPH were actually pretty good! Specifically, the strawberry fruit crepes (brown and crispy around the edges, stuffed with warm cottage cheese, topped with fresh strawberries, with sauce served on the side), were delicious. Don't get me wrong, the crepes here aren't going to give you delusions that you're dining at Petunia's in the French quarter, (which, sadly, was never the same after Katrina), but I'll bet you'll enjoy them! The Santa Fe omelet was also excellent, even when made with EggBeaters. It was big and cooked perfectly. You get a four egg (or the no-fat equivalent) omelet and three 5 inch pancakes. (Those pancakes fed my son and 1/4th of the omlete fed my daughter...no need for a kid's meals). The spinach omelet was equally good. Of course, they are known for their German pancakes! read more

Yay! It's open on Labor Day! Came here with a gal pal of mine and ordered: Dutch baby - we added the German Royal which is a plate of fresh strawberries and bananas with a side of powdered sugar, lemon juice, and strawberry syrup..looked like food out of a commercial. Yums! Apple Pancake- I have never seen anything like this before...like a crater filled with baked apples that aren't too sweet and aren't too syrup-y.
