So I stoped for lunch and this is my second experience here. Although the offering selection is still on the limited side for selection, I had the baked chicken. It was outstanding and a dish I will use in comparison moving forward. The gal that helped me toady was very personable and I had a wonderful experience.

Buffet style comfort food. You can't beat it. They have the BEST salad bar & the apple butter on homemade rolls is so freakin good. The staff takes great care of the buffet and guests. You can also order off their regular menu and they also have specials daily. 10/10 recommend.

Ever had the urge to step back in time? Perhaps to feel like an extra in the movie Cocoon? Wonder whether any of the other patrons will assume room temper before leaving? Or maybe you feel the "need for speed" by dashing away in a bus destined for a retirement home? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, then this is the place for you. The clientele are octogenarians , the service staff is donned in clothing fresh out of the 19th century, and it's truly like dining in a clean barn. With that said, the fried chicken is very good, the pasta a little salty and the people are friendly. If you need a quick bite in the middle of nowhere, check it out. It'll make you feel young again, quite simply because in this place, 75 is a spring chicken. It's 3 stars all day long.

Oh the Barn - so many memories here. Another family favorite, we used to drive out to Archbold just to eat here at least once a month during the summer when I was a kid. Of course, the day was best when paired with a trip to the wonderful little Sauder living history museum, but just a chance to get some of the best roast beef around was reason enough to be excited. The Barn, as the name implies, is literally located inside an old Barn. The wooden walls have a lot of character, and though the wall paper in the bathrooms and cloths on the table have changed over the years, the overall look and feel of the dining area has not. There's still the upper story loft for special events and parties, the smooth-worn wood beams, and two rooms, each equipped with a good sized buffet. Now, of course the Barn has other things to eat - if you don't like standing up to get grub but like the opportunity to try a lot of different things, I believe they still offer the home style dinner - your choice(s) of meat, veggies, and so on brought to the table to be split among your party. There are probably other offerings too, but the honest truth is that ever since the buffet was established, I don't think my family ordered anything but. What is on the buffet does change by the day, I believe. However, the best night to go (in my opinion) is Sunday, or whatever day they offer the "three meats" - ham, chicken, and beef. Well, really, all that matters is that they have the beef. Now, in earlier reviews I've raved about the chicken at der Dutchman in Plain City. And yes, they still have the superior white meat. However, nothing compares to the Barn's super tender, rich, and flavorful roast beef. When I say tender, I mean it. Melt in your mouth tender. And no, that's not a turn of phrase. Don't get me wrong, the chicken and ham are good too. They're just the backup singers for the main attraction. Of course, no buffet is complete without soup, salad, bread, and dessert - and the Barn doesn't disappoint. The last time I visited, there was only one soup available - tomato - which I decided to skip in order to get more beef. However, they have some fantastic soups. I remember especially loving a beef and barley or beef and noodle when I was a kid. The salad bar is also quite tasty - fresh with all the classic toppings. However, if you're lucky, they'll also have some sort of pudding available. I used to really love the oreo pudding - chocolate, whipped cream, and crushed oreos. The dinner rolls are also amazing. They now offer dinner rolls coated in a custard-like honey glaze along with the original sweet, soft mini-loaves. Don't forget the apple butter. And of course the vegetables - super soft mashed potatoes, creamy corn... whatever is available is sure to be good. I think you can still order your dessert - they used to have a fantastic selection of decadent pies. However, even more than when I was a kid, the Barn now offers a table of home-made desserts (bites of cake, a ridiculously flavorful peanut butter bar), as well as a few warm desserts on the buffet itself. Let me just say I don't normally like bread pudding at all - it's slimy, gooey, and reminds me of my most hated food - the banana. However, the Barn is one of the rare exceptions to that rule, serving up a bread pudding so fluffy and light that it seems more like a souffle or type of sturdy custard than bread pudding. Whatever the case, it is amazing and needs to be tried. The buffet also offers an ice cream bar - they give you a bowl of vanilla, you add your own toppings. I believe this costs extra, though. If you are courting a hearty appetite, or have a large party to feed, then the Barn is definitely worth checking out. Although rather in the middle of nowhere, there is some lovely countryside to see along the way, and the delicious meal is definitely worth the occasional excursion.

We both ordered a salad and drinks, our server was prompt with both, pleasant and made us feel like we were with friends! The salads were great, 1st time we've ever seen grill top fried potatoes mixed in with our steak and chicken salad's! Seemed strange but we are now fans of that! You just don't expect this kind of service anymore which is a sad. We cannot give a higher recommendation to Ickey's than five stars and that is indeed a shame :) We do not make a habit of entering a business at closing time and do not recommend it, but this simply could not have been handled better by the owner and his staff!

We experienced about an hour wait before we were seated, they were really busy. The wait after we ordered was a bit frustrating, it was about an hour until our food arrived. The server was attentive and apologetic but they must have been super backed up. I started with the cherry ginger beer mocktail and it tasted like cherry soda. I ordered the Greek salad and found it to be a little heavy on the chickpeas but the dressing was good and light. We started with the lemon ricotta & bread- it was really tasty but the way that it was served was a little awkward in a small jar. As a shareable, it would be easier in a more open bowl, easier for more people to access. We also got the lamb meatballs and it came with pita and tzatziki- I enjoyed it (not spicy fyi). My sister got the miso salmon and I had food envy, that was the best dish at our table. It had a really nice sweet glaze on it with rice and broccolini.

Unfortunately they were closed on Sunday so I had to call into my bank and cancel my card. While reviewing the transactions, I realized the amount they had authorized to my card was $10 more than our bill+tip. I used to be a server and worked at a bank so I know how authorizations work so I patiently waited until it cleared. My worst fears were confirmed! Not only did she not return my debit card after payment, apparently she was upset with her 12% tip and added a 1 to my tip to make it +$10! I called pretty upset on Monday afternoon and talked to a manager named Collin who seemed to not care about the issue. No apologies, only to promise to talk to the owner to see if they could do something for me since I lived out of state. I waited until Friday to call them back and was told by the hostess that Natalie would be calling me back later as she was on a call. She did call back about 1 1/2 hours later and said she had already refunded my card for the $10 and that she had looked at the receipt and it appeared I had issues writing with the pen so she could see how the server (Caitlyn) could have thought the tip was $16. 25! I let her know I had no issues with the pen and anything other than my 6.25 on the receipt was added by her server. I told her I was worried for all of the other tables where she had given bad service to and she had done the same thing. She said the server already gave the store back the $10 and apologized for the confusion. Sorry, there was no confusion here! I do truly appreciate Natalie with apologizing for the issue and refunding the money but I would never go to this place and if you do, I would make sure your server wasn't named Natalie. I changed my rating from a 4 to a 1 due to this fiasco. This one was hard to rate. Wish Yelp let me do somewhere around 3.5-3.8. What was good? We walked in and only had to wait about 10 minutes on a Saturday night the weekend of Mother's Day. Our server started off really bad. Didn't introduce herself and she started talking when we weren't even looking at her not realizing she had made it to the table. Her service didn't get much better from there. No mention of the specials. No offer of adult beverages. Bad. Just... What do you want to drink? I used to be a server so I know what they are told to do. We started off with cheese curds and they were pretty good. A little burnt tasting which it felt like was due to older oil that they were fried in. Other than that, they were pretty good. My wife got the Balsamic Chicken Breasts and she absolutely loved hers! She took half of it home so it felt like a pretty good value. I got the Sully Burger and had high hopes. It was good, don't get me wrong. But was it amazing? Nah. The burger was completely overdone and dry. Also didn't love the fried potatoes on it as much as I thought I would. Unfortunately, I was most excited about the horseradish sauce on the burger and it was non-existent. But... All this being said, it was a good burger. Not great. The ambiance of the place was pretty cool and we did really enjoy ourself. So.. I rated it on here at a 4 but probably not quite that good considering the horrible service. She also took forever to come check on us and bring us our check. Probably 20 minutes once we were done (and 20 min after we told her we were done!)
