The restaurant is cool with tons of antique advertising signage. Lots of stuff to look at. We were seated promptly and a waitress came over to get our drink order. I read somewhere they had great burgers... do all four of us got burgers. They were delivered, but they were terrible. The sign said "never frozen", that's clearly not true. The beef was gross. We ran out of drinks during the meal and waitress never came back, but once to drop check off. Pay at register, so she never made eye contact afterwards. Not one person asked how was our meal. EDIT: I need to write an edit to my review I did in 2019. Mostly the food portions, cleanliness and ambiance is the same. I understand prices going up and some small businesses are struggling and we try to support small businesses however a couple things really were a turn off today. Specials were listed on a board with no prices. When we asked the price we were told an approx price not individual prices. The waitress acted like it was a bother to go get us prices. And then my aunt only drank a couple sips on my ice tea and wanted to take it with us but not after being told a styrofoam cup would be $1 extra. The rude way the owner (we think he was the owner) handled it after she said she didn't want the cup and would leave the tea is why I am removing 2 stars. He did give her the cup that probably cost less than 25 cents, but she never asked for it for free. She just didn't want to pay the dollar so she wanted to leave it. She hadn't even got a refill on it. The man was just outright rude and went on to try justify his charge in a rude manner. Sir, we just didn't want it, it's ok, don't be mad at us that we didn't want to pay your fee. So you may want to ask how much your ToGo container cost. I did have to pay more for my pie to take it with us since I was too full to eat it there. Had I known I wouldn't have got it. I'm not complaining about paying for the container, which seemed unreasonable, just the rude way we were treated when we weren't even complaining. We used to stop here often while in town but now we have removed it from our fav places to go. There are plenty of other places to try in the Wauseon area. read more

Worst service ever, went in near closing time 6:50 and the waitress was very rude and told us we had to leave by 7. Then she ignored us after we ordered to sweep. We asked where our food was and was told we were rude because we ask if our waitress cared more about closing than customers. Boy did the bring the ugliness in the owner. He doesn't care about if you ever come back and he plain is rude. Yes they did complain the meal but that was too little too late, just treat the customers with respect because there are much nicer ways to act. Maybe just flat out tell the customers we are closing in 10 minutes and thank them for their understanding that the kitchen is closed. We are adults and would have found another place to eat not act like entitled Archbold people. read more

Back when I was little, my grandma would bring me here every summer for a girls day. This restaurant holds very near and dear to my heart because of the memories I have of coming here with my grandma. I can't say enough good about this place and will forever recommend it to everyone! I'm going to give their subs 5 Stars. The bread is made in house and it is excellent. I got the club (ham, turkey, crispy bacon and cheese) and it's served warm (meat and cheese are warm) but the lettuce and tomatoes are cold and crisp. The sub bun is not hard or soggy. You can order as a quarter, half, and whole. The subs are served with kettle chips with a seasoning salt. The half was about $6.50. The salads are large but just plain iceberg lettuce with a bunch of stuff in. It's too bad they don't at least add some romaine. The salad comes with a fresh homemade bread stick. They're also known for their milkshakes and homemade pie. They also make a very good pizza (crust is made in house). The decor is 50's with many signs on the wall. Old style booths and retro table and chairs are also part of the theme. Service is usually good. read more

Wow, were we blown away by the authentic 50's style diner, the working jukeboxes at each table, and the quality and quantity of food. If you like a good, thick milkshake - you won't be disappointed! I had a fish sandwich served with a heap of fries and a Cookies and Cream milkshake and couldn't finish my meal - although I really wanted to! I love the decor of this place, takes you back to the good ole days and I'm not that old haha! Since I was fighting a cold, I was happy to see chicken dumpling soup on the specials board. It was delicious, just enough creaminess with perfect bite size dumplings, I should've ordered a big bowl! We ordered a chefs salad and pizza. They have some of the best salads, freshly chopped lettuce, veggies and cheese in perfect amounts. The waitress said the salads are her favorite item on the menu! Pizza was hot and flavorful crust, but I still wanted more soup! My daughter ordered onion rings, sinful! We would've ordered pie but we were stuffed, they have homemade pies that are so delicious. Enjoyed dinner here tonight with my family. The restaurant has a small town feel, fun atmosphere with all the 50's decor and jukeboxes and the food was delicious. The kids had pizza which came loaded with toppings. The burgers were great, too. Both kids had cherry shakes that were also delicious. Had the Bristie Sub with onion rings (chicken, bacon, ranch and buffalo on homemade bread- two thumbs up) and a cup of tortilla soup (chicken, kidney beans, corn, tomatoes- one thumb up). Not that I have anything against the Ohio Turnpike service area restaurant choices, but Mom's Diner beats the HECK (better use bible belt, heartland, red state review language here) out of the standard McDonald's/Burger King/Hardees/Popeye's fast food joints on Route 80/90 - and is worth the five minute drive off the highway. Okay - it's probably closer to ten minutes. Honestly, a better homemade hamburger bun - light, fluffy, and flavorful - I have not had. Good homemade lemonade too. we have came to town every year for the past six years. the food was good. Last year we ordered a pizza each and brought it back to our hotel room. this year... I ordered a mushroom and pineapple pizza, my wife ordered a pizza with green olives (you can't get black olives for some reason) and no cheese. What we got.. My wife's very peppery, looked like someone sprinkled some on the top. Mine, well as it cooled the cheese began to become rubbery and difficult to chew and swallow. Only one other time I had that experience was back many years ago with the artificial cheese came out and folks experienced the same thing. Hot no problem, cooled down, yeah, rubber.. We did ask for the grilled chicken sandwich and they do not serve it anymore. Now most of the folks there ordered the hamburger and fries that looked outstanding and I should have ordered that. I really wanted to like this place. I really did. The cheeseburger was great and the decor is spot on but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We probably will not go back. We walked in and the server just looked at us. No hello--for a second I wondered if they were even open. Be prepared to pay with cash or be subject to a 50 cent surcharge for credit AND DEBIT cards. I find this really off putting, as was the 30 cent upcharge for a side of ranch dressing. The server did not tell me this would be an upcharge when I placed my order. I didn't use the restrooms but I would not be surprised to see pay toilets here. Then there was the mysterious piece of something in my onion rings. It was a fried piece of something unrecognizable. When the server came by to see if everything was okay I told her I was trying to figure out what THAT was, she said she didn't know but it looked like a piece of chicken nugget that somehow fell in the fryer but she wasn't sure. That wasn't a real appetizing answer. When I went to pay I apparently went to the wrong counter because all i got from the server there was "you pay over there" and a point to another room. So unfriendly. Great burgers--too bad they were outweighed by bad service and over zealous upcharges. I don't see another visit in our future. read more
