What a fantastic step back in time. Jeannie's is a quintesential diner down to the homemade pies and cornbeef hash. We chose a grilled breakfast samdwich on sourdough with an egg, american cheese and bacon (you get to pick your bread, cheese and meat), a side of fruit (3 types of berries, pineapple and grapes), buttermilk pancakes and sausage patties. The service was attentive and the decor was retro at it's finest. definately recommend

Where to start? This diner has a very 50's diner feel, it's almost like nothing has changed inside since 1952! The wood walls and steel edged tables are nostalgic in the best sort of way. The staff couldn't have been any better! Quick, attentive and over the top polite! The food was amazing. I got the western omelette with a side of biscuits and gravy. The omelette was delicious, perfectly seasoned and loaded with plenty of ham ,onion, green pepper and mushrooms. I judge most breakfast restaurants by their biscuits and gravy and they did not disappoint! The biscuits were perfect and the gravy was seasoned well, loaded with sausage and the perfect consistency! The only negative I could find here is that their bathroom is super tiny, but I didn't stop here for the bathroom!

Visiting the coldwater Michigan area for our first overnight, we were anxious to try the highest rated breakfast suggestion. Very cool location and we could tell right away it was popular because many people were there. We got seated in a very busy (chaos) type of environment, however, it was a Saturday morning. What caught my eye was the comments about the B&G and them being "homemade". I love to visit "Diners" as the food is usually really good. I had my eyes set in that and the pancakes. My Orange Juice was extremely bitter and struggled to drink it. While we waited for our breakfast, we noticed the amount of "toast" being served was off the chart! Lol. I know why! It was amazing sourdough bread and toasted to perfection. Nice thick slices! Being a B&G snob and really appreciating a good homemade sausage gravy, I must say I was very disappointed. The biscuits were good but the gravy was (meh). Not saying it was not homemade, but "Canned gravy" has a very distinct peppery taste and this gravy seemed to be in that line. I asked for crucially bacon and it was floppy and cold. Pancake was an "A" for sure! My wife got eggs and potatoes and they were good but not great! The ambiance is very cool and the waitress was so nice. Service to get in and check out is again, very chaotic while busy. No one said thank you when we left or nothing other than the waitress. If I could give 3.5 * that is where I would be. PS. Toast is amazing! Hahaa no kidding!

Best breakfast in Coldwater. Eggs and hash browns were perfectly cooked, but I'll be dreaming about those pecan pancakes.

The owner was very welcoming. They had real plants spanning the ceiling & they even have a feel inside that is stylish in a sense that has a cultured feel to it. Needless to say, we did not waste our opportunity with this place, and they serve breakfast all day so i can enjoy their delicious selection even if it's later in the day! This time I'm just over it, I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt but let's be honest this place is surviving because it's the only family restaurant around. The inside is outdated , and the color scheme alone is enough to make you nauseous. All the waitresses act like they don't want to be at work and getting their attention for anything is impossible. This time I ordered simple, veggie omelette comes with American fries and either toast or pancakes. I got pancakes, they were pretty tasty some sort of vanilla in the batter but they were dry. The omelette, was one of the worst things I've ever eaten. Not only was it dark in color, the eggs tasted like fridge and all the veggies inside it were old. I'm Just over it, bus lady was sweet though.

I've been to several Bob Evans locations across the nation and was pleasantly surprised by my visit. I experienced friendly service in a comfortable dining room with clean tables and not too much noise from other diners. Like every Bob Evans location, I love the combination of low prices and abundance of choice available. Here's my thoughts on the different items I tried: Chicken fried steak - Super creamy sauce on nice tender pork with a light breading that doesn't distract from the flavor. Rolls - Super fluffy and full of butter Garden salad - Was nice and fresh though I wish the lettuce as a little more crisp. The croutons were very crunch and I liked how the honey mustard dressing was not too sweet. Green beans - A bit on the soft side, not a huge fan Mashed potatoes - The consistency was a bit gritty for me but it had just the right amount of butter and pepper. Fried chicken - Super crispy and marinated with the right amount of saltiness with a good flavor of buttermilk Hash browns - Cooked nice and meaty with a good crisp Mac and cheese - Tender noodles though the sauce was a bit thin for me Banana bread - Slightly chewy with a strong butter flavor, good amount of nuts Reese's cookie - Large soft cookie with nice aromatic peanut butter infused in the dough and in the candy bit. Overall, the food was served at a fairly good temperature with good prices and large portions. The flavors and textures were a bit better than some other Bob Evans locations I've been to and the service was friendly.

The restaurant is located inside an actual historic railroad depot dating back to 1883, and the building alone is worth seeing. The dark wood, massive beams, staircases, vintage clocks and railroad memorabilia give the place a wonderful atmosphere. There are even stained-glass windows that were rescued from a church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I started with the Overseas Railroad, a fruity blue cocktail that was refreshing and dangerously easy to drink. Probably a good thing I wasn't the engineer. My wife ordered the ribeye, which came out sizzling and cooked to a perfect medium-rare, with loaded mashed potatoes and green beans. I had the Maple Glazed Salmon with long-grain wild rice and green beans. The salmon was tender and moist, and the sweet maple glaze complemented it nicely. The green beans deserve a special mention because they had just the right amount of crunch and snap. We finished by sharing a warm salted caramel cookie with white chocolate chips and pretzel pieces, topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel. It was the perfect ending to an excellent meal. Great food in a beautiful old building filled with history. The trains may no longer stop here, but Trainwreck Grill & Ale House gives you a pretty darn good reason to.
