We had a sweet visit to Potawatomi Inn this past weekend. Our days were filled with nature hikes,…read morepuzzle building, craft making, swimming in the pool, toboggan rides and eating in the hotel's restaurant. The pros: -lovely library room - best views in the hotel, cozy fireplace and apparently, we were the only ones excited about the library despite the hotel being fully booked -the craft room was hopping! It felt like this room should take over the lackluster/outdated game room based on the strong audience (it was hard to find a spot given how many folks showed up at 4:30 when the craft room opened). They offer ceramic painting, wood items, etc. at an affordable price point. -you can't go wrong with the toboggan rides (its what their most known for) -lovely hiking trails and fresh air The cons: -Our hotel room was easily over 80 degrees with no option to turn it down (despite it being less than ten degrees outside, we were all struggling to sleep due to the temperature) -the game room and pool could use some serious attention - both felt outdated and dirty -the restaurant felt like it had a lot of room for improvement. It was a buffet during both of our visits and there was always a long line of folks waiting to pay, be seated, etc. despite their seeming to be plenty of staff. They also weren't keeping up on bussing tables, etc. It felt like leadership/direction was lacking from this room. Ah, it feels like with some small tweaks and updates, this place would be a blowout five stars.

Upon arrival at 2:45 PM, we attempted to check in, fully aware that the official check‑in time was…read more4 PM. We were told no rooms were clean yet, which was understandable at that moment. However, when we returned around 3:30 PM to check again, there were still no rooms available. By this time, several other guests were also waiting, and no one was able to check in until approximately 4:30 PM--half an hour past the posted check‑in time. I want to acknowledge Ethan, the front desk employee who was handling the situation. He was polite, professional, and clearly doing his best. Unfortunately, he appeared to be working alone while managing multiple frustrated guests. I later learned he was fairly new, which makes the lack of support from management even more concerning. No employee should be left to handle that level of pressure without assistance. The room itself was extremely outdated. The carpet was old and visibly dirty. Both the shower and sink drained poorly, requiring us to rush through basic tasks like washing hands and showering. There was also visible black mold on the ceiling that appeared to have been painted over rather than properly addressed. We had hoped to enjoy a sit‑down dinner at the inn, but were informed that the restaurant only offers a buffet on Fridays and Saturdays. Considering these are two of the busiest days for guests, it was disappointing to have no alternative dining option. Additionally, the pricing was unreasonable--the child buffet price was $17.99, only one dollar less than the adult price of $18.99. We ultimately chose to dine outside the inn. Overall, while the location and staff member we interacted with were positive aspects, the management, room conditions, and dining limitations left much to be desired. This stay did not meet the expectations we had for Potawatomi Inn.

Never again. I wish…read moreI could leave negative Stars purely on the treatment from management and ethics. To be fair there are some good points but I guess I will address those first number one the Ambiance is very nice if you like history an old architecture it's worth popping in if you are near nearby. I will also say that I am pretty critical on my coffee but it appears the coffee portion of this restaurant has its own name and I will write an extremely positive review accordingly as the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. That being said the rest of the experience was negative. We should have known something walking in when we saw what appeared to be two other local couples going to the cute little restaurant next door which looked reasonably busy and when we went in there's only one other couple there. That should have been a red flag. But it looks so quaint and Charming we wanted to try it. Her breakfast was fair but it's hard to mess up whipped cream and strawberries LOL you'd almost have to be pure evil not to like the combination LOL. My breakfast however was a disappointing experience say the least.... let me preface this with the fact that I have a pretty decent barometer 4 brisket as my buddies and I smoke brisket all the time and have been in some competitions. That being said for approximately $14 for breakfast skillet that better be some damn good brisket. And it wound up being very rubbery!!! and just taste it off like it had been sitting out forever.!!! On top of that after taking only one bite decided to send it back and the waitress could not care less and took $3 off the bill ....? basically you're telling me I ate $11 worth of Skillet after I told you to come back and have the chef taste it please!!!!!!!????? it was like it was microwaved from the previous night The sauce on it was like knock off ketchup packets or should i say katsup! Lol Rude and discourteous to say the least I'm sorry the Ambiance is great and the coffee was actually one of the best cups I ever had but to charge for food that I wouldn't even give our dogs!! just wrong and then to not even care about it no.!! We saw everyone going next door and wondered why some place so large had such little business. Now we know why all the locals were going next door and why a restaurant next to a restaurant still survives. After you eat here you will be eating next door also.

Still delicious and still good service…read more This past week, I went with the two eggs, which comes with diced redskin potatoes and choice of bread - I had the biscuit this time. The potatoes are so yum. This time instead of adding on the blueberry almond oatmeal, I went with the Oatcakes (pancakes made from oatmeal) which had blueberries inside. Split two cakes with my wife - enjoyed them and the cinnamon butter on top is delicious. She liked the Heartland and the kids went with French Toast plus turkey sausage.

We even ate before we went so we wouldn't get hangry, but even from the wait of being seated to the time the kitchen finally makes your plate of food, my children were almost in tears because their tummies hurt. My daughter literally only ordered yogurt and fruit. She was the LAST one served. Please train servers to get children's food out quick (for everyone's sanity). When asked how our meal was, I finally did mention that this will be our last time patronizing this establishment. Clearly they are too busy to craft a joyful and memorable experience. It's better if we find a new spot. My previous review still stands. Go if you want a good breakfast, but be prepared to wait awhile and pay a premium for it.
