The room was unclean. We found a hair and a hair ball in the bed. Also, our friends also made a reservation, but were told they were unable to stay because of their child. We were told that this was advertised as an "adults only" stay by the owner. On second look there was nothing on the front page of the site that stated that. One would have to look at the policies section, under the fourth heading. The policy stated, "Martha's Vineyard is an adult facility and generally not suited for young children..." If this is truly the policy, the rhetoric is far too passive. read more

My fiance and I came for a little stay-cation for our anniversary, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. It's an idyllic farmstead-cum- resort, and the area is perfect. The grounds skirt the gold course, so we got to watch the deer grazing in the morning and evening. The room, you ask? It was phenomenal. The atmosphere is homey and cozy, the bed is ridiculously comfortable, and the jacuzzi tub made showers superfluous. I love the comfy chairs and fuzzy blankets! Perfect for cozying up to the fire on a cold November night! Breakfast came right to our room in a sweet little picnic basket, hot and delicious and accommodating. I'm a vegetarian and my guy isn't, but we still got the same breakfast and way too much of it! The restaurants and other nearby amenities are close enough to not be a bother when you do need to leave for food. I'm excited to come back for a stay when the weather is warmer so we can see what it's like then, too! read more

My husband and I had such a great experience at Martha's! Ginger was our main point of contact and she was so accommodating and helpful. Our room was very cozy and the bed was so comfortable. Everything was very clean too. We had an in room massage and it was great! The breakfast was out of this world. We stayed in the Cranston (#8), which was convenient, quiet, and a perfect couples getaway experience. The grounds are magnificent, and nearly every element is picturesque. The private cottages are superb for privacy, and hot breakfast is delivered to your door in a basket promptly at 9am every morning. We loved having breakfast in bed and was the main reason we chose the guest house over the main house, where you would instead eat in a shared dining room. The main house is beautiful however so it really just comes down to personal preference. In terms of location, it is in a great spot to quickly drive to downtown South Holland or go up to Fennville to check out a winery or local orchard. Perfect lodgings for our anniversary weekend. read more

My husband and I dipped our toes into the SW Michigan beach town scene over a long weekend. Martha's Vineyard provided comfortable accommodations, and overall is a very charming and relaxing little slice of vacation pie. It's several miles outside South Haven's downtown, so it was nice and quiet. Good for naps. We stayed in the Nantucket Suite, which is the loft in the guesthouse. The layout was fine, but the eat-in area is pretty dark and there's no kitchenette per se - no sink or even water cooler. There is a mini fridge, coffeemaker and microwave, and assorted extra plates, cups, and utensils. There was a small selection of tea but unfortunately, all herbal. So your caffeine choices are !!!! or zzzzz (Goldilocks says black tea is just right). The table and chairs were a little mismatched so that my husband and I couldn't really fit our legs under it while sitting. Unfortunately, there's no table upstairs on the balcony so we couldn't really eat anywhere else. The bathroom is large and there's a rack for clothes. The shower is pretty small and a little dark, though water pressure was good. We would have appreciated the option to re-use our towels but they were laundered each day. So you know, little things, not major demerits. Breakfasts were really nice, and well thought-out. When I called on our way to let them know we'd be late, I was asked if there were allergies or diet restrictions. I really appreciated that, and they accommodated our no-meat request with veggie sausages. The breakfasts were on the decadent side - definitely "sometimes foods" but the portions were reasonable and there was a little fresh fruit included. The grounds are really are idyllic. We didn't even take advantage of most of it, but appreciated all the care that went into everything as we were coming and going. There are hammocks, white clapboard chairs, a fire pit, arbor (vineyard?), ponds, flowers, and many little decorative touches. And green, everywhere - the golf course beyond kept the peaceful vistas going as far as the eye can see. So, overall, it met our needs and provided a cozy home base for our nearby adventures. read more

This b&b is adorable... My husband and I spent there our first anniversary! April welcomed us and showed us our lovely room... It was beautiful, very clean and with a touch of French style! We booked the package including a bottle of champagne to make everything as we had pictured it in our minds... The champagne was fabulous too... On Sunday morning someone from the staff brought us our delicious breakfast in a sweet basket... We will certainly come back, maybe during the winter time... read more

Our second visit... 3 nights during the South Haven Blueberry Festival. It's just a bit north of "downtown" on the Blue Star Highway, so it's close enough to easily get to South Haven or Saugatuck/Douglas, but far enough away to feel secluded and quiet. We love the comfy, clean rooms, and the little library of DVDs that you can watch in your bed... and did I mention the 4-course breakfast? Breakfast is absolutely the best part, so don't be a goof and make plans to have brunch elsewhere - you'll be cheating yourself! Breakfast starts each day with a fruit "something" (fruit-and-yogurt parfait, fruit cup, or little fruit pastry), then a starchy "something" (cinnamon roll, or carrot nut bread...), then a protein-y "something" (souffle, egg-and-potato scramble, or French toast...), and then a little dessert bite of some kind. The coffee's strong and the OJ is freshly squeezed, and dining out on the vine-covered porch is so relaxing that you'll wish you could just stay all day. We'll be back! read more

We came into S. Haven for just a night, and the only room they had for one night was the Nantucket. The grounds and main house here are very nice. Its a beautiful place. The room was very clean, the bed was comfy, and we enjoyed the nice view over the orchard. Beyond that, the decor was a little tacky..... lighthouse upholstery, lighthouse nightlight, sandpiper in the way of my toothbrush.....cape cod nick knacks everywhere. The bedroom was upstairs while bath and kitchenette were below. Having to trapse downstairs in the dark to use the bath wasn't a plus. Shower was so-so. I undersand the other rooms had jacuzzis. perhaps nicer?? The kitchenette frankly was a little dismal, no windows. We didnt even go in there and chose not to stay for breakfast to sit in the dark. If you're looking for upscale, luxurious, 5-star hotel stay....head 30 miles north to the Wickwood Inn. If you're looking for comfortable night at grandma's, this B&B is for you. read more

If you are disabled STAY AWAY. This business is not ADA compliant. Service Animals are NOT welcome. My husband booked a surprise trip to this B&B with excitement for our wedding anniversary. Sadly, when we arrived with our service dog (fully labeled in vest, ID cards, and leash) we were met with a frustrated host who initially turned us away saying she had to clear having "our pet" stay on the property with the owner, Ginger. We had booked a suite in the main house, which was the most upgraded suite. She said that we might have to be moved into one of the side houses. We were told by the host when we arrived that she could not serve food in the dining room at the main house with "our pet" here--as I began to lament my disability (which I shouldn't have to) and why he isn't just "a pet" she walked away mid-sentence and slammed her office door to call the owner. She re-emerged stating to come back in 1 hr at the 3pm check in (we arrived at 2), so she could "figure all of this out," and that "really, when you made the reservation, you should have let us know you were bringing a dog--as a courtesy, as a sign of respect--" Wait--we booked the most upgraded suite, so when we made the reservation my husband should have wrote **please note: disabled person here; service animal in tow** you know, out of respect? Is that so we can be moved to the downgraded outhouse before we arrived? Is that so you could pre-discriminate us and tell us you were all booked? My mind was literally spinning at the sheer ignorance of this business. We didn't return at 3pm. Instead we called at 3pm and told them we would not be returning and to make sure that the nearly $200/night stay not be charged on our card. They told us to come back--"no really, it's ok!! Come back and stay in the main house! We really want you to come back." Perhaps if there was an acknowledgment of wrongdoing, we may have. But there wasn't an apology. Just a business realizing did we really just mess up huge? And a scramble to recover lost $$$. There is still so far to go for those with invisible disabilities, and some of us are lucky enough to have a service animal to aid us in that disability. It is up to all of us to create a community of inclusion and non-discrimination for all, and most importantly, re-education for small business owners that serve the public like these. read more

This is a lovely bed and breakfast - the owners are friendly, courteous and work to ensure a pleasant stay for all of their guests. The grounds are very well kept, large and pleasant for strolling - near a golf course. The house is very well kept, clean, and in good repair, while still maintaining a cozy vibe. Our room was small, but had everything we needed, with a small but lovely private bathroom and private balcony overlooking the front of the property. They even had the most up-to-date DVDs we could borrow and watch in our room. We watched Valentine's Day, which was horrible, but I won't hold it againt Martha's Vineyard:) The breakfast was very cute, but in my opinion, not as great/to die for/amaaaazing and previous reviews I had read. The coffee was good and strong however, and in general I was happy with the level of service and quality of the meal. Staying in South Haven is a great option so you're centrally located between Saugtauck and downtown South Haven, and you're very close to the great beaches. I would recommend staying at this B & B and hope to come back again on my next trip. read more

It was winter when we came and we stayed in the guest house so it was wonderful getting a delicious breakfast delivered to us in the morning. Simply the best B & B experience we could have asked for! I recommend taking advantage of their off season pricing and heading up for a stay in the Fairhaven (just behind the main house) and enjoying the whirlpool tub, flat screen TV and remote controlled fireplace. The perfect winter weekend getaway! They also offer a special package of crackers, wine and cheese with a one hour massage which you can split btwn two people when you book the room. Although I would probably pass on it next time, my sig might suggest that she get the entire hour. :) I just can't say enough about how much we loved this location. The owners and staff are wonderful, there's plenty of parking and you can either join the main house for breakfast in the morning or have it delivered to your suite. You have to check it out! Stayed here with my husband as an anniversary trip and had a wonderful time! Staff was sincerely friendly and kind. We stayed in Martha's Vineyard room, which was cozy, clean, quaint with a very nice private veranda, although a small room. The house it self is also cozy and quaint. There are board games and a DVD library for rainy days which came in handy! The breakfasts were a nice variety and served promptly at 9am and is 3 courses. First day was half a pear baked with spices and whip cream to start, then a cinnamon roll and last egg soufflé and red skin potatoes. Delicious! The other day it was a fruit dish with a slice of each, banana, strawberry, kiwi and pineapple, next it was yogurt parfait and last blueberry French toast with a side of sausage. Yummy again! We'd definitely go back. The grounds are beautifully kept as well. Found a frog at the pond and deer in the yard along with wild turkey! MV is convenient in location at only about 10 mins from downtown South Haven and 20 from Saugatuck. Lots to see and do in town this is a reasonably priced lodging option for those who like B&Bs! read more

My wife and I stayed in the Fairhaven suite in the guest house. King size bed was comfortable. Wife enjoyed soaking in the jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was brought to our room every morning at 9. Food was delicious. And we had a coffee maker in the room to have coffee before breakfast was served. At night and in the early morning you could watch deer litterly 10 feet from the door to our room. Location is nice. Can get to South Haven in 10 minutes and Fennville or Saugatuck in 20. We are already planning our next getaway here. read more

What a gem! Martha's Vineyard is a delightful bed and breakfast located a few miles outside of downtown South Haven. If you have a car, this is a wonderful place to stay. The place is very well maintained and the landscaping the beautiful! The best part of this place was the beds... the beds were soooo comfortable! Love this place. My husband and I were looking for place to enjoy a relaxing 2 night getaway when our friends recommended this B&B. We couldn't have been happier with our experience here. Right away we were helped to feel comfortable when Ginger (one of the owners) greeted us and gave us some info about the place. You're made to feel like your staying with old time friends. The main house is beautiful and the grounds are very well taken care of. Hammocks and chairs can be found all over the property so you can just relax and enjoy the outdoors. We stayed in the cottage house instead of the main house. Which is a great option if you want a private entrance plus as an added bonus your breakfast is delivered to your room every morning! Our room had a beautiful fireplace and great jacuzzi style tub. Everything was very clean and the staff were all so nice! The location of the B&B is nice too because you are just minutes away from downtown South Haven and Lake Michigan. This was such a nice relaxing retreat, I am definitely hoping we can make it back soon! read more

The house was nice, but the service we experienced was certainly sub-par. I have never stayed at a bnb that had no coffee available until 8 a.m. This place, provided coffee at 8, and it was brought in by the owner in a Thermos! Worse yet, breakfast was not served until 9 a.m. We are usually off and starting our day by then! Every morning we had to go a couple miles down the road and buy take out coffee for us. The owner observed that we had our own and never blinked an eye. Not sure, but the food for breakfast did not seem to be prepared on-site. Normally you wake up in a bnb to the smell of coffee (not here!) and breakfast being prepared. Never a whiff of anything.... It's clean, quaint and functional, but not what we expect in a bnb. read more

Came here for a quick get away to celebrate our belated 3rd anniversary. Grounds were beautiful, and view from out balcony was gorgeous. We got the romance package, so there was an adorable heart with fresh roses, delecitble choclate coveres strawberries, and champagne for us. We came in pretty late, but the host waited around for us. Woke up in the morning and had breakfast. I apppreciated that they adapted the menu for me to be able to eat items, as I have a gluten allergy. Overall very quaint place, nice get away. Would like to come again. One reason for not giving 5 stars, is we were not given the option of sitting wherever for breakfast, and had to sit with another couple, which was nice in the long run. However, I would have liked to be able to continue the getaway with my husband alone. The other down side was 9am was the only option for breakfast. At other B&B's we have stayed at had a big timeframe that allowed you to eat when you are ready. But overall very nice stay! read more

This was a nice place, the owners were very kind as well. This was our first B&B experience because we wanted to try it at least once, and I'd have to say that they are just not our thing. My fiancé and I just like more privacy, and more luxurious rooms. We stayed in the guest house in the Chatham Suite, it was a cute room and the whirlpool tub was nice. The TV was smaller than my computer screen.... And the breakfast food was absolutely terrible.... we only drank the orange juice :[ And again maybe I'm just being picky because bed and breakfast's aren't my thing....but I wouldn't come back. read more

This is a very nice Victorian B & B. This is our first stay here and the owners were very kind. Facility is very clean and close to Lake Michigan Beach. Breakfast was good. Coffee was not served till 8:00 and we had to go to a mini mart for our early morning coffee. read more

This was our third stay here at Martha's Vineyard B&B. We were so disappointed that we will not be going back there. Every time we have stayed, we stay in one of the "cottage" rooms that are detached from the main house. The first two times the check-in went smoothly and the rooms were great. The third time we got hassled about staying out in one of the "cottage" rooms; we had reservations 4 months prior to arriving for a room out there. We were the only ones there and the innkeeper (we felt) did not want to be bothered bringing us our food out there for breakfast and for housekeeping. The rooms definitely need to be updated and maintained better. The paint was peeling in our room, the hot tub was coming apart at the walls, the bathroom was dirty and the decor just needed to be freshened up a bit. We will try out another reviewers recommendation for the Wickwood B&B in Saugatuck. It is unfortunate about our experience, because we love South Haven and the atmosphere of the town. read more
