Had a decent - not great breakfast. I ordered crepes and noticed that they offered fresh strawberries as an add-on. Before I ordered, I specifically asked the waitress if the strawberries refresher frozen and she assured me they were fresh. Sadly, my crêpes arrived with warm mushy strawberries that had obviously been frozen. They were very generous with the portion of strawberries - but unfortunately, I really hate them when they're mushy. They overwhelmed the dish and made the crêpes soggy. This is THE breakfast spot in Battle Creek. There are other decent options but this is definitely #1. The staff is always friendly and we're always seated in a timely manner and our drinks are there almost immediately. The portions of the meals are pretty big so you'll never leave hungry. Today we ordered a Mexican omelette and the house omelette with sausage gravy on top. The food arrived at the table extremely fast and was hot and fresh. The fresh jalapeños on the Mexican omelette add a nice bite. The hashbrowns are perfectly cooked, not too salty with a good crunch. Adding sausage gravy to the house omelette only enhanced the flavors! The pancakes are always good, soak up the syrup perfectly and taste homemade. Anytime we've gone, it's always busy because the food and service is great but we're never left waiting very long. Thank you to Lux's for another great experience today! Expect low end, inexpensive and little fresh ingredients. 5/10 on service- our first waitress was apparently a hostess, as she disappeared halfway through our meal. The service was great. There is some times when you might need to wait a bit to get seated but it's usually not that long. I love their menu because it offers a big variety of meal choices. The parking lot was full we parked in the back. Then made our way in only to get seated immediately. Place is much larger on the inside than you think. Waters and menus were quickly brought out. The menu seemed to have a lot on it to choose from. Everything we ordered was really good. Fries have this extra batter that made them crispy and great tasting. Servings were plentiful on everything we ordered. Kids menu with paper and crayons. Biscuit and gravy was really good. My mom enjoyed her pea soup and Rueben. Not sure how I didn't try Lux Cafe when I lived in Battle Creek, but I stopped by for breakfast on a weekend morning. I was surprised by how poppin' it was, but the parking lot & restaurant itself is a good size. I went for the corned beef scramble but with egg whites. For $10, it came with two sizeable pancakes. I mistakenly ate the entire plate and was full until well into the afternoon/evening! Lux Cafe is what I envision IHOP/Denny's was like before they scaled and sold out. Plenty of parking for cars, not so much for anything bigger so if you're in an RV or a semi, sorry!
