Stopped in for a quick breakfast on a late Sunday morning. The diner is pretty small but service was fast and friendly. They offer a combination of booths and tables, from 2 to 6 people. I ordered the Dig-in #3, which was a basic order of 2 eggs, toast, and meat. I went with bacon and added an extra egg. Over all the meal was decent but the bacon was a little undercooked for my liking. I would return again. read more

Every Thursday is either Burger night or smoked brisket. On Friday nights during Spring & Summer they have Smoked Chicken and BBQ Rib. My husband swears there Ribs is 1 of his top favorites. We were camping in Fort Custer today and had our granddaughter. Thought we would try Dig In for breakfast. It looks nice on the inside and out. Server took our order in a timely manner and the food came fairly quickly except for mine. Waitress brought my wife's and granddaughter's, said she would be right back with mine. 5 minutes later a different waitress brought mine. We then hear our waitress thank the other one saying she had forgotten. My wife and granddaughter ordered a half order of biscuit and sausage gravy. Both of theirs were cold. The gravy was so thick it almost needed to be cut with a knife. My eggs were cold. I read reviews about how great the pancakes were so I got those too. They were just OK. Prices were a little on the high side too. $6 for a half order of cold biscuit and gravy! With the prices, cold food plus not that great tasting, we won't return. We will drive just a little bit further to Andreas in Galesburg. read more

Super greasy food. No vegetarian sandwiches or burgers except for the grilled cheese, so I ordered breakfast. It was a meal on the menu where you got 4 slices of french toast, eggs, and meat - but she let me substitute hash browns for the meat. The eggs were good and the french toast was okay, but the hash browns were undercooked and so greasy. Service was great, I liked our waitress. Another review mentioned that they had religious decor up, which I didn't notice but if I saw religious quotes in a restaurant, that's unprofessional and I would not go there again. read more

I love that the American fries are pan fried and not deep fried. They're done right. The childs breakfast a childs pancake - that was the size of the plate- and TWO links, so... you know... maybe for two kids - or three. Since our default breakfast restaurant has been bought out and transformed into something perfectly dreadful, we have been scouring the landscape for someplace new. The Dig In Cafe is one of a four restaurants within a quarter mile of each other (five if one includes the Lickity Split, an ice cream shop open seasonally) in Augusta. (Not to denigrate Augusta, but I have always thought that the area was too economically depressed - with the closing of Hillside Orchards, the closing of Brook Lodge, the closing and then reopening of the Barn Theatre, and the sale of the Yarrow Resort to the public sector - to support that many downtown restaurants. And I don't know anything about the Blue Stem - which might make it six restaurants overall - perched so high overlooking the rustic farmlands near East Augusta Drive.) It is the only one of the four that is open for breakfast, and I suppose that this gives it an advantage since there is really no alternative nearby. We could only think of Arlene's Truck Stop to the east near the highway as the next closest. It is definitely the place for locals to hang out from 7 am onward. I can't ever recall seeing or reading any advertising in Kalamazoo about this restaurant. The restaurant is bright and clean, the service is attentive, and the decor is a mix of photos, a few coming from the actors from the nearby Barn Theatre. Unfortunately, the food is forgettable. Following my theory that any place that serves breakfast should be able to do it better than I can, this is a restaurant that doesn't. Never having worked in food service, I could still prepare a better breakfast than I received. Asking for soft poached eggs, we received hard. The breakfast potatoes, made of boiled quartered red potatoes, were not then cooked sufficiently long on the flat top to develop crunchy exteriors. The corned beef hash - and I know what good corned beef hash is and how to make it - came from Gordon Food Service. Those little teeny cubed potatoes, each no bigger than a BB, were the giveaway. The coffee was brown and hot but only aspired to taste like coffee. Nothing was seasoned. We assumed it was a mixture of inadequate ingredients and inadequate cooking. So this is not a destination restaurant. This is a restaurant whose customer base is locals with a few National Guard from the nearby base thrown in. I can't see going back since it doesn't offer me anything unique or special in the category of breakfast. But considering the volume of locals, I don't think the restaurant will miss our business in the least. read more

First off, the ranch is absolutely amazing. Haven't had the chance to sit down and eat here because of COVID-19 but the food has been amazing. Tried calling in for a lunch order once and couldn't get through. Was completely surprised 5 minutes later when they called me back asking if I wanted to place an order. This place is a nice little diner. I had the dig in burger which is a cheeseburger with 2 half pound parties. You better be hungry if you get this one. The staff is friendly and good was quick. Patrons were also pleasant. The only reason I gave a 4 was the burger was a bit overdone for my liking. The battered fries are also very good. read more

This is a middle of the road lunch experience, it advertised as farm to table... and that it delivered all fresh quality product served. But as anyone knows who reads my reviews I am particular and should be right? If you open a business accept money as trade for a product or service it means your a professional. Dont get me wrong this place had good service as a diner goes, let me sub a house salad verses fries at no-charge, but I get a traditional club sandwich using way to thick of a slice and not cut in quarters. Now for true Chef's or food aficionados to much bread against a meat or vegetable is a big thing. read more

Friday night smoked ribs are a must, I don't even like ribs but these smoked ribs are to die for, very meaty, lots of smoke flavor and a slightly spicy bbq sauce on the side. It was their "soft opening". The interior reminds me of an old school dinner, I was impressed. Very comfortable setting, however it was a little too bright. Ordered the Veggie Omelet. While waiting for my meal, I over heard employees in the kitchen arguing about something. I couldn't make out what it was. A bit unprofessional. So I received my breakfast, it was hot, and fresh. However, the whole meal was disappointing. The Hash browns, were under cooked and mushy. They were not even brown. The omelet Lacked any flavor. Very Bland Food, I mentioned this to the waitress. Who kindly offered to remake my meal, to which I Declined. She mentioned they "are still trying to find the proper seasoning, as many customers have different taste." Omelet's are not that difficult, which leads me to believe, perhaps they should taste their own food before they try selling it to paying customers. The waitress was very apologetic, and asked me to give them another chance. I will update my experiences, The next time I visit. Dig-IN CAFE appears to have very high potential, It is in a very prime location. With not much else to compete with, I foresee much success. Just got home from Dig-In Cafe, went with my son and daughter-in-law. They split a big breakfast and had enough to take home for their lunch! I had a ham and cheese (real cheese) omelette, with onions, American fries and toast. It was delicious, and I have more than enough for my lunch! Friendly and fast service plus excellent food! They even give a Military discount! We're never disappointed when we eat there! read more

I keep telling them they should make it free if you eat the whole thing, but in all honesty, I eat it all (well 90% of the time, they've bested me twice now - thank god for take home boxes), but I eat it all because it tastes so good, and it is so good that I am more than happy to pay for it, and the staff is so amazing and friendly. Visiting Fort Custer cemetery today; stopped in at Dig-In Café and found authentic "home cooked" breakfast. Enjoyed good sized portions, fresh vegetables in the Western Omelets, amazing pancakes with interesting tasty flavor, fantastic home style bread, excellent coffee and service staff that treats you like family. Everything seems to be made from scratch with quality ingredients. Cant' wait to make trip back to Augusta and have another wonderful meal at Dig-In Café. read more

Food is ok, but forget it if you have a complaint about anything. The owner comes out and sits beside you to tell you that you are completely mistaken. In my case the eggshells in my scrambled eggs were suppose to be crunchy eggs and if I didn't like it I could go someplace else. So I did. I will never go back there. Slow & Rude, Terrible Food. Puts the GREASE into Greasy Spoon. Waited over 30 min. for our breakfast, which had clearly been done for a while and just sat in the window. (Fruit on side was hot.) The "pancakes" were a strange deep brown color but not whole wheat, oddly super-sweetened, and fully saturated with oil - it dripped out when pancake was lightly squeezed. Our breakfast today was not pleasing.....firstly it was barely warm, except our eggs over easy that were hot as freshly cooked. The hash browns, ham and raisin bread was extremely dry as though they'd been lying on the grill for some time. The waitress was excellent....food not so much......will not be going back. read more

I've eaten here maybe a dozen times and have always been pleased. l had the smoked ribs last Friday. The owner obviously knows what he is doing. The large serving of ribs had a nice smokey flavor and they were moist and tender enough to cut with a fork. Plenty of tangy BBQ sauce on the side, but I didn't want to mask the delicious smoked flavor. Love this place. Food is all home made from scratch handed down from several generations. It's like eating at home. The owners are always interacting w/ the customers. The all u can eat fish fries or burger nite are delish, but u may way a few but that's normal on all u can eat nite or burger and fries for a couple bucks. High recommend the place!!! read more

I found the Dig-In Cafe to be a very pleasant and friendly small town cafe. I had their large burger, fries and a tossed salad instead of the cole slaw and a diet coke. The burger was LARGE and excellent with the portions very generous. Service was timely, friendly and personable. The waitress even asked if we wanted to take our diet cokes with us and furnished portable cups when we said yes. I found this to be a great little home town cafe with a pleasant and friendly atmosphere and recommend it as such. read more
