We happened upon this small town, family run diner and decided to give it a try after seeing high reviews on Yelp and cars in the parking lot. Inside is a vintage, home town feel with Vicksburg posters of sports teams on the walls, some corner TV's and sparse St. Patty's Day decorations. Our waiter was Nick, soon to buy out his father and become owner of the whole restaurant! He has worked his way up from dishwasher, cook, waiter, front of house and is now being taught the art of pie making by one of his long time pastry ladies. Nick says everything is good on the menu, especially the breakfast. My mom ordered a kielbasa scramble with onions, green peppers etc. she loved it. I went for the eggs Benedict Florentine. So good! Great hollandaise sauce that did not split and had just the right edge of mustard to sharpen the flavors. Delicious! We finished with some homemade pies with decaf coffee. Really good food and a lot of it. When we first arrived at Yogi's, parking was a somewhat annoying task. It's not that there wasn't any parking available, it was just that the layout of the parking lot was really tight and confusing. Nothing too much worth complaining about, but something that I hope the owners can try and work out. Once you get inside, it's nice. The walls are littered with various signs of whatever the owners are into, pretty typical for a family restaurant. Then, we ordered. It took about 45 minutes before we actually got our food, and when it came, I was surprised by just how much food I got. I ordered a hash brown omelette with a pancake on the side, and let me tell you, the pancakes are HUGE; the size of the entire plate, including the elevated "rim". The food was really good. One nitpick I do have is that the apple juice wasn't unlimited (or at least, that's how it appeared for me). I got one glass and then was offered ice water. read more

This is a restaurant in the middle of unstructured residential and low lying marsh, west of Vicksburg's industrial park. It's been open for many decades; I remember eating there when I was in college and dating a girl from Vicksburg. Since Niko's Express in Comstock closed last year, we have been looking around for a simple diner in the county with good breakfasts. Yogi's is open at 6 am, which appeals to us. So we checked it out on a Tuesday morning. Yogi's seems clean & open. The seating is predominantly booths with some larger tables. There is sports memorabilia (UM, MSU, Tigers, Red Wings) on the walls. There are TV monitors up high in the corners. For some reason, the area in front of the cash register is sloped and is several inches higher than the main floor, which seemed to confound older customers with balance issues. We observed several who didn't expect the slight incline and momentarily lost their balance before they could resteady themselves. The demographic during a weekday morning when we were there was indeed older (50s and up, and predominantly retired men). My girl and I were instructed by the server to grab whatever table we wanted when we entered. She was quiet and blandly efficient. The server got our drinks quickly but gave us time to peruse the menu. My girl got Eggs Benedict and water; I ordered a Western Omelet with wheat toast and coffee. We decided the breakfasts were decent & serviceable. My girl was curious as to whether the restaurant used Canadian Bacon or a substitute like ham. It was the former, though sliced quite thin. She thought the eggs were poached nicely and the Hollandaise sauce with speckles of paprika was tasty. She thought the sliced potatoes used for the American Fries tasted old, as if they had been prepared hours beforehand. My dish was the neatly made 3 X 8 rolled omelet with a slurry of minced green peppers, mushrooms, etc. It tasted of eggs and nothing else. The minced vegetables, probably the product of a food processor, were undistinguished. This was an omelet made speedily. The bread for the wheat toast, I hoped, might have originated from the MacKenzie's Bakery in Vicksburg, but it did not, being a store brand. Plastic containers of Smucker's Jelly were available on the table. The server patrolled the dining room and kept my coffee cup filled. The table had a container with real half & half. The coffee had an interesting smoky taste, which certainly was an improvement over the brews most diners make. The overall cost for the two meals was not unacceptable. Holy wow! Right off of nowhere road Vicksburg (I live in Vburg and always drive past it) I always go for breakfast. Meaning, breakfast food whatever time of day. The inside is my very GenX childhood . There are always people dining no matter what time. I've ordered so many different breakfasts but by far my fave is the country scramble. If you love eggs, hash browns, ham and cheese (not in that order) in a sizable portion with toast and of course I had gobs of coffee, then this is one to consider. I ate half the next day. I don't know what I was expecting when I went here with my husband, but it wasn't this! Very cute, this diner definitely has a hometown feel. The food is what you would expect at a diner, but with a few fun surprises. I am egg intolerant, and there was a huge variety of options for me (hard to find at breakfast restaurants). We were seated right away, the bathrooms were clean, and there was coffee waiting for me when I got back. The server was incredibly knowledgeable, and friendly. My coffee was never more than half empty. The portions were huge, and my husband (who is an avid salt/pepper adder) didn't add anything to the food, it was perfectly flavorful! I was especially pleased when we got the bill. Two meals (both with extra things added), and two drinks, for less than $25! We will definitely be back. read more

Usually I have the best service and food here but today their was a hair in our omelet. It wasnt fragile and didnt come apart when I tried to break it to see if it was a string from the eggs that had been cracked for the omelet. It was a curly red hair. The waitress argued with me and then the manager argued with my fiancee. I went to culinary school when I was 18, I'm 33 now. I know what's food and what isn't. Went to this little hometown diner this morning for breakfast and it was amazing! Everything about it . The waiter was so nice, always checking up on us, but not too much where you can't even eat without them coming back to check on you! And the food was delicious! We ordered eggs Benedict and chocolate chip pancakes, and both were absolutely amazing! I do wish they put the syrup and butter not in little single serve plastic containers though. Also a great environment, people from all different walks of life, you had your older regulars to your welcome youngens. Overall I HIGHLY recommend this cute little hometown diner! So after 2 weeks of being sick and now all recovered and the restaurants are all open oh, we decided to finally get up and go to YOGIS for breakfast. Now get this, I have an autoimmune disorder & several other health issues and I just got over being sick. The waitress comes up to my table to take our coffee orders and she's literally wearing a nylon fabric tied around her head. I respectfully told her that her mouth wasn't doing any good for the health regulations. She looked at me "and laughed and said Oh I must be one healthy person, may I take your order." Told her I didn't want anything to drink and she took the other person's order I was sitting with. Comes back out ask if we're staying or going. I say we're staying. Comes back takes our order, we get our food, we eat, we go to check out she tells my friend to have a good day and then under her breath "and I sure hope you have a better day to talkin to me." I couldn't help myself I went off on her. Nobody in their right mind who is working at a business treats anybody in that form of matter ever! If it hadn't been for her NON WORKING see-through mask that is totally against policy for a restaurant to be serving food, none of this would have ever happened. I get in touch with John, he gets in touch with his dad to call me. After 25 years of going to Yogi's, Greg says to me: " I THINK ITS JUST BETTER YOU FIND ANOTHER RESTAURANT" HE would rather lose loyal customers then fix a health issue that is running rampid. I can't believe nobody has reviewed Yogi's yet, but maybe that is by design because nobody wants to reveal our little out-of-the-way breakfast gem here in the 'Burg. The place is clean and quaint, a great diner feel to it that isn't like a "dive". Cushy comfy booths surround the place at the windows. The windows look out to trees and green, not other buildings. The servers are very nice and create an atmosphere of genuine care, and they really seem to be happy to take care of you and have a warm & welcoming way about them. You also realize right away that many of the customers are regulars, and are treated as such. The breakfasts are really really good. My sweetie always orders the "Jumbo" - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, plate-size pancake, hash browns, AND toast - for $6.99!! I love their eggs benedict, and they have great omelette variations as well. Biscuits & gravy are a winner - you can also get the gravy in a cup to pour over your eggs or hash browns. The cook really knows what he's doing - it's not thrown together... it's cooked fast and with care, and comes to the table hot. One issue: Their menu indicates the corn beef hash is their own and I'm not sure why they won't change that menu description as they have used canned corn beef hash for years. It's a bit of a let-down if you believe the menu and expect something other than canned. That let-down aside, this is a brilliant breakfast spot that many in Vicksburg love for many reasons other than local loyalty. VERY consistent in food quality and a great staff. We went for breakfast on a Sunday. It was our first time here. Very clean and friendly. Menu offerings were adequate. Food was fresh and tasted good. Wait time was minimal for table and food. Staff was quite friendly. I had the veggie omelet with spinach (extra $1.00) and it was very good. Husband had scrambled eggs and sausage links. They were a little runny but we did not specify well done. Husband felt the serving size of 2 eggs was quite small compared to other breakfast restaurants. This morning, I took a short car ride to yogis; a diner right down the street. When I swung back the old, aged pine doors, I was enchanted with the smell of old fashioned cooking, and straight out blood, sweat, and tears that have enabled this family joint to remain stable for over 24 years.
