    the receipt for yogi's
    Tristan H.

This is a restaurant in the middle of unstructured residential and low lying marsh, west of Vicksburg's industrial park. It's been open for many decades; I remember eating there when I was in college and dating a girl from Vicksburg. Since Niko's Express in Comstock closed last year, we have been looking around for a simple diner in the county with good breakfasts. Yogi's is open at 6 am, which appeals to us. So we checked it out on a Tuesday morning. Yogi's seems clean & open. The seating is predominantly booths with some larger tables. There is sports memorabilia (UM, MSU, Tigers, Red Wings) on the walls. There are TV monitors up high in the corners. For some reason, the area in front of the cash register is sloped and is several inches higher than the main floor, which seemed to confound older customers with balance issues. We observed several who didn't expect the slight incline and momentarily lost their balance before they could resteady themselves. The demographic during a weekday morning when we were there was indeed older (50s and up, and predominantly retired men). My girl and I were instructed by the server to grab whatever table we wanted when we entered. She was quiet and blandly efficient. The server got our drinks quickly but gave us time to peruse the menu. My girl got Eggs Benedict and water; I ordered a Western Omelet with wheat toast and coffee. We decided the breakfasts were decent & serviceable. My girl was curious as to whether the restaurant used Canadian Bacon or a substitute like ham. It was the former, though sliced quite thin. She thought the eggs were poached nicely and the Hollandaise sauce with speckles of paprika was tasty. She thought the sliced potatoes used for the American Fries tasted old, as if they had been prepared hours beforehand. My dish was the neatly made 3 X 8 rolled omelet with a slurry of minced green peppers, mushrooms, etc. It tasted of eggs and nothing else. The minced vegetables, probably the product of a food processor, were undistinguished. This was an omelet made speedily. The bread for the wheat toast, I hoped, might have originated from the MacKenzie's Bakery in Vicksburg, but it did not, being a store brand. Plastic containers of Smucker's Jelly were available on the table. The server patrolled the dining room and kept my coffee cup filled. The table had a container with real half & half. The coffee had an interesting smoky taste, which certainly was an improvement over the brews most diners make. The overall cost for the two meals was not unacceptable. We will be returning, I expect.

Quaint diner in the middle of farm land. Out of the way but friendly, good food, great prices, fun interior decorating. Recommend the place.

Great little restaurant: clean, comfortable and convenient to where we were staying. So glad that they opened at 6.00am. Hubby and I woke up ravenous after a long and late trip from the Windy City. A 'must do' for fast and tasty food.

Good place for a nice meal! Enjoyed the corned beef Holland's is was great! Breakfast menu was the best selection, and staff was young but friendly. Prices were more than average but it is where it is at!

3.5 stars for now!…read more My friend and I met here for brunch & coffee a couple of months ago. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, love that they implement the little "library" where you can take a book & leave a book. The fireplace is unique and pretty, too. They also have gifty goods that you can buy. The food was good, my friend enjoyed her quiche and I had a bagel with smoked salmon- there was a drizzle of a honey and I thought it was such a nice touch! I had wanted to try their lavender latte but they were out of the syrup. I tried their hazelnut instead and did not enjoy it at all. It tasted like sweet milk, it didn't seem like there was any coffee in it at all. To me, coffee should be the star and it just wasn't. My hope is that if I give them another try the coffee will be much better.

Situated in my girl's hometown, this cafe certainly offers something unique for this community…read more With its straight and flavored coffees, small plates, bakery items, welcoming atmosphere, and drive thru, it has found a comfortable niche. Vicksburg is too small of a market to attract a Water Street or a Starbucks, and so far there is no Biggby's. Windfall's only breakfast competitors are two traditional diners: Yogi's (situated a mile or so to the west) and Rise N Dine (downtown). We happened to meet our niece this morning, just by luck, so we ate and drank and caught up. The cafe has counter service. My girl had a water and the Grilled Breakfast Wrap (described as "bacon, egg, & cheese wrap grilled to a crispy outside & melted inside served with garden salsa"), our niece had a coffee and the Spinach Quiche, and I had a coffee and the Biscuit and Gravy. The breakfast entrees are all small plates and were priced as such ($3.95 - 4.25). The entire breakfast for the three of us was $17. We ate in what the cafe describes as its "Green Room." Though Prairie Street is a main thoroughfare into Vicksburg from the west, we didn't hear that much road noise. The food was yummy though I thought my coffee was stunningly bitter.

This was our first stop into Vickers!…read more We had a very nice meal with good service!! They were having a live band that evening, which we did not realize until it was time, but it was a nice surprise! We stopped in on an early spring day - everyone is craving the sunshine by the time winter finally breaks in Michigan! We sat in the sunroom area which is SO nice and light, but also insulated enough to stay cozy when it's not quite warm outside just yet!! We sat at a table that was to be very affected by the live band about to come in and set up. No one let us know about this, even though the waitress came and took our order prior - it would have been nice to know ahead of time as we definitely would have chosen a different spot, but we were able to pick up and move ourselves to another table when we realized what was happening! The live music is super fun, but is very loud - just something to be aware of if you don't love that sort of thing - maybe choose a seat inside the main part of the restaurant, if desiring to avoid!! :) Our order was placed behind a very large table. Due to this we had to wait over 30 mins for our 2 person order. Not overly surprising but something to keep in mind - the kitchen is not equipped to keep up with the rest of the rest of the restaurant if working on one large party order! Bonus: the atmosphere was really nice for a long wait! :) Vickers has a nice sized menu with a lot of variety!! We ordered nachos and a chicken sandwich. They have a several choices for sides - this is something I very much appreciate as I don't always want fries or chips with a sandwich! The option to upgrade is a big deal!! I upgraded to a side salad which was a great size and a good amount of toppings to make it very delicious! We will be back to Vickers! A nice, local spot inside of a cute, cozy town!! :)
