My husband and I decided to try this diner on our weekly Sunday tea trip and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere in this place is highly enjoyable the artwork on the walls is incredible and very well taken and painted, they also do competitions for kids when it comes to coloring contests. The menu is very diverse there's plenty of vegan and gluten-free options they even had an Octoberfest menu inspired by many German/Bavarian delights. My husband and I tried the goulash and the potato pancakes from the Octoberfest menu his goulash was incredible, I didn't care for mine much but that's because it's something new that I've never tried and they were kind enough to take it back and offer to make me something else which I didn't do. We also have the garlic fry bowl which was delightful Full City Cafe has a very friendly and polite staff that is very on point when it comes to serving. I will definitely be coming back again to try something else on the menu like the chorizo burrito. Full City has become our place where my friend and I meet for our regular weekday morning get together. The menu is large and varied, with regularly changing specials that are always appealing. The last time we went we had pumpkin pancakes with a special cinnamon butter and real maple syrup that really hit the mark. The coffee is great, but they also have interesting seasonal options, like the Witches Brew, which was an apple cider and chai tea mix that was really refreshing! The prices are very reasonable too. Weekday mornings are not overly busy, and after just a couple of meetings, we are already on a first name basis with our waitress. I am the kind of person who likes to rotate through all kinds of places and craves variety in my meals. Stopped in for breakfast this morning and, like always, pleasantly surprised by my experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, even when they are super busy. And the food is simple but very well done, they use great, fresh ingredients and let them shine. Today I just got eggs and bacon with a side salad - garlic vinaigrette is awesome by the way. My eggs were cooked perfect as was the bacon (not too soft not too crispy). The table had some sweet potato fries that were great too. Every time I come here (which really isn't often enough) I'm fully or almost completely happy with my meal. Going in this time I had the intent on getting a salad but my eyes fell on the portabella mushroom veggie melt. I am not a vegetarian but seeing portabella entrees usually sparks my interest. The sandwich came out and the portabella was thick and juicy, the fontina cheese was the right amount of melted, and the arugula was a plenty! I opted for a side salad with their garlic lemon vinaigrette and that was amazing as well next to the veggie melt. I ate just about every last bite! The staff is always friendly and anyone walking by will help you out. We ordered the Brioche French toast, Centre street omelet and rye bread and the Chorizo and chilaquiles with turkey sausage. No flavored creamers since they have specialty coffees here. The brioche French toast was okay, so was the centre street omelet. The turkey chilaquiles was the highlight of the brunch and was the best of all of our meals. It was the perfect balance of spicy, savory and yummy. Ate up every last bite it was that good. My husband had to eat some of my chilaquiles after one bite since he enjoyed the flavors too. It's the most flavor filled version of chilaquiles I have had thus far. The sauce looks and tastes similar to chili. I would definitely come back and get the chilaquiles again. read more

More upscale than a diner but not as fancy as Food Dance. + service has been friendly each time I have been there + they have gluten free bread so they can make gluten free french toast!!!!! + the roasted bananas that come with the french toast are SO tasty + bacon was perfect - not overcooked + have interesting food specials and flavorful dishes not just typical boring breakfast food. - orange juice is $4 for small glass and not good. Simply love this breakfast place!! It's our go to place almost every alternate weekend. Great food, great ambience and amazing service. We ordered the Miyaki breakfast bowl, which was delicious and really well presented. It's a combination of steamed rice, scrambled eggs, some amazing ginger soy dressing and spinach. Also came with a choice of bread, and I wanted something sweet so i opted for a scone, which was orange almond flavor. Fiance got the miyako bowl which was rice, pork belly, eggs, and some sushi type toppings. He loved it, and the pork belly was cooked perfectly. Went and had Brunch yesterday with a friend. I got the California omelette it came with a side of toast. Waitress brought out my meal but forgot my toast. After about 10 mins the waitress asked how everything was, my friend spoke up and asked about my toast. The waitress quickly grabbed it from the back and brought it to the table. I'm not about to eat cold toast that has been sitting out. And the waitress didn't even realize that my toast was missing when she asked how everything was as well as when she brought food out. Fast forward to the next day, now today I have food poisoning. Symptoms include upset stomach and diarrhea. Definitely don't recommend and I won't be going back. read more

One of our two favorite breakfast spots in the Kzoo/Portage area, and definitely #1 in Portage. The menu changes seasonally and offers an array of imaginative, always fresh and delicious options. Terrific standards like Eggs Benedict and a daily quiche are standard, and there's usually something Mexican-inspi like chilaquiles as well as an Asian-inspired bowl entree. It's the ideal brunch spot, and even offers special holiday buffets at times like Easter and Mother's Day. Not cheap, but reasonable for the quality of food and service, which is always friendly and attentive. A don't-miss spot if you're visiting the area, and one you might not run across without seeking it out. Update: returned for a regular breakfast, and it was phenomenal. Special of the day was Crab Cake Benedict, which was one of the best I've had anywhere - special touches to garnish really put it over the top. Tater tot scramble also was delicious, and a good choice for those who might be less adventuresome (most of the menu is unique and less traditional).
