I stopped in for a breakfast sandwich, and was really impressed by the helpfulness of the staff in guiding me towards what I should order, and telling me about the place. Most of their business right now is drive through and tons of catering for all over southwest Michigan, but they're working on some upgrades inside so that more customers will dine in. The sandwich was quite good, and tasted fresh. The menu switches up based on time of day, so I'd visit again when I'm in town to try something different. read more

Blue Kitchella on Portage Road is hands-down one of the best hidden gems in Portage! I've been here before for their sweet treats (which are always fantastic), but yesterday I finally decided to try their savory options--and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the Olive Burger and was genuinely blown away. The flavor, the quality, the presentation--everything was on point. So much so that within just a few hours, I was back again! After raving to my daughter about how good it was, she came with me for round two and got the deluxe chicken sandwich, which she also said was absolutely amazing. It takes a lot for me to leave a review. I'm not someone who writes them lightly. But the food and service at Blue Coachella were just that impressive. If you're even remotely considering trying this place, don't wait. You'll be glad you went. We'll definitely be back again soon. read more

Been visiting BK since they opened and was initially so excited about the breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts. Over time, the clever, delicious doughnuts were fully replaced with Cronuts, which I'll just say--they are not good. I am unsure why they fully changed over to this ove- priced and overrated option. Bring back the doughnuts! Today, I was saddened to find that the wonderful sandwiches were replaced with none other than a Cronut over the slam-dunk, no-brainer brioche roll. Noooooo! Don't do it, Blue Kitchella, bring back brioche. We honestly will not be returning if you continue to offer this sad Cronut bun (it's not a croissant). And the potato roll is no substitute. I'd say a very high 3 at the very lowest for Blue Kitchenella - A donut shop with more than just going on for it, but the donuts are just decent. Lets start with the cons: The prices were a little on the high side, but the quality is pretty good, so it reflects the prices. The menu is pretty limited except for their doughnuts. And the weirdest thing is their doughnuts are a little questionable in my opinion. I spent 3+ dollars for a cream filled doughnut and it maybe had 1.5 tablespoons of cream in it, which barely covered the corner. They could use a little more work in perfecting their doughnuts, and they were pretty bready. Pros: The place was very clean and the staff was courteous - absolutely no complaints there. Even though the menu was limited - the burger was really good. Their brioche bun really made the burger - you could see the tear in the bun where the person making the burger's fingers tore into it when picking it up because they're so soft. The bacon was a little sad and the cheese wasn't melted, but even with that, it was an excellent quality burger for a pick up and go doughnut shop. The variety in their doughnuts is nice, I'm glad to see them trying with experimental but safe flavors - I tried a variety and they were pretty decent, not overly sweet and cavity-inducing. Overall: I think Blue Kitchenella's definitely worth a go. Give it a shot! read more

If you're looking for really good food, with a drive through available, Blue Kitchella is a great alternative. The owners (whom we had heard were also the owners of Latitude 42 Just down the road) have converted a former Burger King into an upscale dine in/carry out restaurant. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised to find it to be totally remodeled and extremely clean inside. They have also created a very inviting outdoor patio seating area. The menu is posted above a large showcase display of delicious looking donuts. After ordering a deluxe hamburger for myself and an olive burger with fries for my friend, as well as two milk shakes (one chocolate and one mint), it was prepared and brought out to where we were seated. The fries tasted exactly like the delicious, seasoned fries served at Latitude 42, and the hamburgers came on fresh brioche buns. The shakes were thick and delicious! We will definitely return to this restaurant, if only to order some of the delicious looking donuts or to try their takeout/drive through service. read more

I have tried all of the donuts and they range from solid to very good. The donuts aren't quite as cheap or as good as Sweetwater's -there is almost always one ingredient too many that overcomplicates it- but their best, Lemon Blueberry poppyseed is excellent. The kiosk ordering system is a little clunky and unnecessarily complicated, especially when ordering something simple like one donut, but is smoother when the drive in is open. read more

Nice! My sister and I came to the Blue Kitchella for lunch yesterday. We ordered the broasted chicken tenders and they were exceptionally delicious. Tender and not over seasoned. Everything on the menu looked good so it was hard to choose. The mac and cheese was very good, you can choose a large or small amount. Brix drinks were nice and bubbly. The building was very clean, bright and shiny inside. Nice high top stools, booths and even a nice outdoor picnic area. There is a guarded fireplace inside for cold days. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have several bakery options for mornings. I will definately be returning. Check it out!! read more

A drive through with real homemade food ...come on amazing! I don't know whats wrong with the other reviewers but the BLT breakfast sammy was one of the best breakfast sammies I've ever ate! All 12 donut types were delicious and so nice they offer an option to order one of each kind. That one guy didn't even go there and gave a bad review...this place is associated with Latitude 42 (maybe he was a disgruntled ex-employee from there?) I've used the drive thru several times now but never been inside. (Baby sleeping in the backseat necessitates drive thru.) Tried a couple sandwiches (breakfast BLT was great!) as well as a few cronuts and I've never been disappointed. Food and service are always top notch. The cronuts are new and not on the drive thru menu, but the staff is happy to list the available options. I'm always happy to see a place with a hot tea selection, and the smoothie I tried was also very yummy. I'm always surprised that they aren't busier. I once's noticed the McDonald's drive thru line was practically overflowing and blue kitchella was nearly deserted. The prices might be a touch higher, but the quality is infinitely superior. And I'm happy to be supporting a small business. read more

I am always looking for new restaurants and was excited to learn that Blue Kitchella was finally open for business. My SO and I decided to try BK for lunch yesterday. Hospitality seems valued at BK as everyone greeted us warmly and offered to assist us in ordering at one of two kiosks. The interface was fairly easy to negotiate and allowed for a speedy order and payment so that we took our seats at an empty four-top. The place was fairly jumping with many diners filling all tables so we were surprized that our meals arrived promtly. My SO had irdered a turkey and havarti sandwich that pleased her palate. I had the original smashburger that satisfied my hunger sweetly. I must remark that the fries we ordered were tasty, hot and crisp!! The sodas at Blue Kitchella are a Michigan artisian make and we found their rootbeer and coke to be excellent and refreshing beverages! We plan to return someday to sample the enticing breakfast menu that includes some very promising baked goods! I'll be back! read more

Been a few times through the driver thru & once inside. The price point is a little high, but the food quality is high. The food is made upon order, so always hot. Husband likes the breakfast burrito. I like their salads. Kids treasure chest is a portion of food for a child & the tenders are not greasy like other fast food places. Kids do not like the seasoned fries, which equates to more for parents. I'm not really sure why they do donuts, but the kids like them. The inside is nice, but a little tight if you have a larger group. The fireplace elevates this former Burger King. Happy to have another option near work! read more
