Vegan Queen Anne's Revenge Scramble Gluten-Free with tofu and tempeh
Ree T.

We were seated quickly and met shortly thereafter with water we were seated by the window with lots of sun coming through. It wasn't busy, however the art work on the wall today was quite depressing. The food however, came out hot and delicious. It came to the table quickly. The mix of tempeh and tofu was a winner. While it was a good food experience, the art work really brought down the mood.

Eggs over scramble, eggs Benedict, and breakfast wrap!

This is place is nothing short of fantastic, great experience start to finish. Service was swift, professional, food order to service was timely. Topped off coffees never empty. The place is very charming up stairs they made a small restaurant feel comfy not crowded. The food was just perfect, all of it on point. My Saturday Detention Bowl was so delicious just the right flavors, thick , eggs cooked perfectly over top! My brother's breakfast burrito was so good, with that awesome sauce, I ordered one, to-go for later! My wife absolutely loved her eggs Croque Madame (Benedict) well she says was fantastic (not my thing.) This place is a must go local hang for great food.

Seated immediately on a Monday early afternoon. Our vegan son had a hard time choosing what to eat-went with the Thai stir fry with tempeh. He ate every single morsel! Served with fresh corn tortillas which was interesting. I had the binkowski burrito with breakfast potatoes. Very flavorful and filling. Came with salsa verde which was delish. I asked for salsa Roja for an addition/comparison and that was also terrific. My husband had burger and fries (he is a traditional eater) and he enjoyed it very much. Friendly and capable service. They were very attentive in keeping water and coffee refills coming. Beautiful setting, nice vibe. Would recommend/return especially if you are vegan seeking options. The breads looked delicious at other tables.

Came as party of my 5,700 mile food tour! Not a big breakfast person but was super intrigued by the blue cheese component to the omelette and their banana bread looked amazing. Ordered the following: - [x] Banana walnut French toast (cinnamon cream syrup, pecan, powdered sugar, and whipped cream) - [x] Sleeping bear omelet (marinated chicken breast, blue cheese, spinach, tomato) with sourdough toast. Everything hit beyond expectations! The salt level of the omelette was perfect and the blue cheese worked well with the chicken. And the banana walnut French toast was sweet yet had relief from the airiness of the whipped cream. Super friendly staff and neat loft-like spot on the second floor of the venue.

I've traveled quite a bit and the Crow's Nest is my absolute favorite breakfast spot! I feel like I'm tucked away in a secret hideaway, it's so peaceful! And the FOOD! It's amazing! The fresh toast (ALL OF THEM), the egg scrambles (ALL OF THEM) are so good! I visit this restaurant at least 3 times every time I come to Kalamazoo. Don't miss out on this place!

This will be a go-to spot when in town! The staff were lovely and the food was delicious! I love that they have vegan/ plant-based options. The Vine Street Vegan Cheesesteak was amazing! I will surely order the same when I return. The side potatoes were cooked to perfection! I was able to dig in to another plate for a taste and enjoyed the combo of flavors of the Vegan Queen Anne's Revenge Scramble; that pesto is yummy! This is a must stop when in Kalamazoo!

The Old Standby with scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, potatoes and bacon.

This is a hard one for me because I'm not quite sure why I didn't enjoy it overall. My nephew and I went to Crow's Nest because he wanted breakfast, and I wanted to try a new restaurant. I was told that the wait would be 20-25 minutes and that we could go downstairs to Fourth Coast Cafe to wait. I received a text and was able to track the status of my wait time, and I received another text when they were ready to seat us. The restaurant has a very small eating area so the voices of all those that were dining was very loud. My nephew had to ask me quite a few times to repeat myself because he couldn't hear me. We both ordered "The Old Standby" which comes with 2 eggs, potatoes, choice of bacon, ham or sausage links, and toast. We both chose the Sourdough for our toast and the bread was from Fourth Coast Cafe and was really good. My nephew ordered his eggs over easy and I had mine scrambled, and we both chose bacon. He enjoyed his food and I thought it was okay, but it wasn't anything to make me tell someone "You have GOT to try this restaurant!" I didn't eat all of the eggs (I think maybe they needed some seasoning, but either way, I rarely cook and mine taste a LOT better). The potatoes were nicely seasoned and we both brought those leftovers home. I'm not sure if I would eat here again or recommend this restaurant to my family.

Friend and I were in town for a wedding so wanted to check out the local food scene. Crow's Nest was at the top of the list. Nestled in a residential area with a modest parking lot. The restaurant sits atop a coffee shop that is also affiliated. Because of the wedding, we opted to order carryout so that we can get ready at the hotel. Very wrong choice on a Saturday morning. We arrived as soon as the place opened, talked to the owner and he said order through the app. We asked twice if that was ok since on their website it states online ordering is not available on the weekends. We ordered as instructed. Got confirmation from the host and he said it'll be out shortly. Over an hour later and after seeing many many many tables being served their food, our carryout order was given to us. Even with the host confirming that the kitchen received our order, the kitchen put online orders on the back burner and focused on dine-in customers. Had we known, we would have just eaten there. We certainly spent enough time there that we could have had 3 meals. The host felt bad but didn't have much say in what the kitchen wanted to do. The annoying part was the food was really good. We didn't care for the sweet treats (banana bread french toast and pancakes) but fell in love with the Davidstown Freightee Sandwich and their Captain Omelette. So much flavor in each dish.

Amazing food, service, and vibe! The bread is made in the bakery downstairs, where you can also get a delicious coffee to take upstairs to enjoy with your breakfast.

One of my favorite and inclusive spots to go in Kalamazoo. A beautiful hidden gem for breakfast and lunch. Always excellent food and coffee.

I met my sister here for lunch. Cute setting. Friendly staff. I ordered the Sweet Heat chicken sandwich with fries. It was pretty good. And I liked their fries (I normally don't like waffle fries). They were not over seasoned. I would certainly eat here again.

We have been to Crows Nest several times and the food is always yummy! My most recent visit was this week. It had been a few years as we hadn't made a trip to Kalamazoo since before Covid. We were told 30-35 minutes for the wait which was a bummer cause there were open tables, but we usually have a wait so we had already planned to get a coffee at Forth Coast downstairs while we waited. The wait ended up being more like 55 minutes and we were milling around post coffee break for longer than we would have hoped. Once seated we were greeted with waters pretty quickly. I may be making this up, but I believe the menu has changed a bit. I don't recall there being a "add two sides for $6" option for the breakfasts, I used to just add sides ala carte. This was so helpful as I usually debate if I want the breakfast meat AND potatos. I usually get the pancakes, bacon and potatoes which is what I did this time. Do yourself a favor and get the side of cinnamon cream sauce with it. Its basically goo from a cinnamon roll. Crazy sticky but tastes great on the pancakes. I had not discovered it until I already graduated from WMU and moved from Kalamazoo, unfortunately, but I'm glad I get it now. The food was plentiful and there was more than enough to bring home for my fellow Bronco brother to nosh. Checking out is easy, we paid via qr code on out phones. From walking in to walking out, the breakfast took almost 2 hours which is way too long, and I contemplated taking a star off for the wait, but didn't.

The single best breakfast, bunch, and lunch spot in the Zoo. The breakfast sausage gravy might be the best I've ever had! Fire up Chips!

Ask the Community - Crow's Nest

I am looking to meet friends there this Saturday. How early should we get there/is there a time that isn't as busy? They don't take reservations right?

No reservations, but we open at 8am. The earlier you show up the better for a table but you are welcome to wait at the cafe downstairs, grab something to drink, and we will call you up when your table is ready if there is a wait. Have a good day!

Are there gluten free options ? Otherwise why does this keep coming up on my gluten free search?

There are many gluten free options. They are listed on the bottom of the first page of the menu

Is the shakshuka off the menu?!?!?

it wasn't the last time I was there. I would ask the waitress/waiter, the chief can still make it for you.

Do they serve any alcohol? Beer & wine?

No they do not.

Do they run breakfast options all day?

Hi Christine. Yes we do. We serve the full menu all day with the exception of the eggs Benedict’s.

Does one have to climb stairs or is there an elevator for those with mobility issues? Does it feel cramped or crowded? What is the seating like?

Good morning! There is no elevator upstairs, however we do offer full Crow’s Nest service and menu downstairs in Fourth Coast Cafe for those with mobility issues. It does get a little cramped upstairs when it is busy. Pictures of the dining room can… Read more

600 is such a cute place for a lovely meal!…read more We have been multiple times but stopped in on a recent sunny afternoon for some lunch. 600 is so light and airy, we really love the atmosphere!! We had a really great waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name! She was doing the job of hostess and waitress to multiple tables, and doing it all very well! We ordered a chicken sandwich and a salad for our lunch entrees! Both were very good and presented very well! While the food is good and quality feels high - the price is also on the high side. For a sandwich and a salad, waters to drink, we spent over $50 for our lunch! Just something to be aware of! While we had time - the experience was not fast. Something to be aware of if needing a quick lunch. The restaurant was not overly busy but the wait was a little long to receive our order. I ordered a salmon salad - the menu nor the website specify if the salmon is wild caught or farmed. I would really love to know this information - the price would be much better reflected if it were indeed wild caught. :)

The service was on the slower side and could have used more attention to detail--coffee refills were missed, and we didn't have spoons to stir our coffee. That said, our server was kind and had a gentle, pleasant demeanor. The food overall was very good. Only one person in our group was disappointed--the chicken and waffles were described as dry, with the chicken coating lacking flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, and the desserts were a standout; they were excellent and loved by all. One area that could use improvement is the upstairs bathroom. While it was well stocked with supplies, it needed cleaning. Clear signage for the upstairs restroom and perhaps a nice piece of artwork would also be welcome touches. Overall, a nice brunch experience with great desserts and room for a few improvements.
