We found this business on Yelp. It is tucked away in a strip mall. It's a cute little diner. The food service and price was a delightful find. We came for breakfast the French toast with cinnamon butter was delicious. They give you the option of one to three slices. We also tried. Three little pigs which was fried ham, sausage, bacon melted cheese over spicy potatoes and a fried egg w/ English muffin- yum. It's also available as a sandwich ( not sure how it would fit). Food is always great, think I've only maybe ever had like some over cooked toast once and I got here just about every week. I see others reviews on the service and they're completely insane, if you're going to walk into a place without knowing if it's a "seat yourself" or not then that is your fault is it not? The head waitress being referenced I'm sure is the owner we all know and love; Char and she is a sweetheart if you actually try to talk to her. Some of my reccomendations? anything with their sausage gravy is delicious, my go to is the buffalo chicken hash, and my girlfriend loves the enormous cinnamon rolls here also. All-in-all this is my favorite place to have breakfast in Kalamazoo. read more

This is our "go to" spot for a great breakfast or lunch. The food is delicious, orders are prepared quickly, and you get a lot of food for the money. Their homemade bread is a real treat! Cheyenne does an amazing job running the front of house and we also have had great service from Darrin. We had a large order for our work which we do every Friday. When we received our order we where missing one order. We called and the manager was very rude and would not make it right for us. They made excuses become more and more rude. This was their error. We will never return to this business for our large lunch order or even stop in the cafe for breakfast or lunch. Their menu is amazing! There's something for EVERYONE there! Sam and I went and she wasn't even too hungry but she opted for chocolate chip pancakes and cleaned her plate. I had planned to get huevos ranchero, a good option for a vegetarian, until I saw that they had Eggs Florentine. Yum! They were excellent and I cleaned my plate, too! The tables were arranged well so that you were distanced from other diners. There's no mandatory mask policy in Michigan so half the clientele had masks and half didn't. I was worried for our waitress who was NOT wearing a mask but we did when she came to our table. Will definitely be back!! read more

I almost ordered the corned beef hash, but I asked and found out the corned beef came from a can. That told me what type of restaurant I was in, which is fine, but I knew not to expect anything gourmet. I ordered the skillet with hash browns, sausage, mushroom (fresh!), green pepper and cheddar with three eggs over medium and wheat toast. It was surprisingly tasty. The eggs were cooked as ordered and the portion was large for the price. I didn't end up eating the bread, but it looked delicious. I enjoyed a root beer made with real sugar and thought it was the best root beer I've ever had. The service was great. Our server was knowledgeable, patient with our questions, and had a positive attitude. The food did seem to take awhile to arrive and I did hear the lady next to me mention something about a cook being trained that day. read more

The staff was super nice and the food was really great. I got hot chocolate along with my breakfast and even that was super tasty. The breakfast menu is pretty standard and is the same pretty much everywhere you go, so there is definitely something for everyone here! I got a veggie hashbrown skillet and it was super tasty. The portion size was pretty large, so I saved my leftovers for breakfast the next day. I got here around 10am and did not have to wait for a seat. A group of friends and I stopped in on a Saturday around noon. I was amazed by the prices listed on the menu. Everything is super cheap! Then I saw the portions and I was even more impressed. You get a lot of food for these prices. The place is clean and no-frills, with cafeteria-style tables and seating. It's not a big restaurant, so be prepared for a wait during peak weekend times. I ordered the "Southwest Mess," which is a less-than-appetizing name for a really delicious dish. It is three scrambled eggs with onion, green pepper, mushroom, jalapenos, bacon, sausage, pepper jack and cheddar, with your choice of toast. You can also get it with hash browns (regular or spicy for an extra $1.75. Spicy just means they have Frank's Red Hot on them.)! So this is a big meal. Service was a bit slow when we were there; it took at least 20-25 minutes for our food to come out. But when it did, everyone was happy! I will probably go back the next time I'm in town for breakfast. So far it's my second favorite greasy spoon/diner type place for breakfast. On Friday's at the office I work we do what we call take out Friday. So one of my co-workers went to this establishment for breakfast recently and absolutely loved it, so we thought we'd try it. The online ordering wasn't working so I called in the order for 7 people. We had to have someone leave the office to go pick up our order, the itemized receipt showed everyone's order. We got the order back to the office, we found that one person's order was not included. When we realized it and called them, the manager, was very rude and not helpful whatsoever. She was not willing to rectify this matter, stating that they were short staffed. I'm sorry for you being short staffed, so are we, but we will always try to correct any issues there may be. This place lives up to the hype. I had my hopes up prior to eating at Nina's and was not disappointed. Nina's sits in a strip mall near a few other gems in Kzoo, Tiffany's and Saffron. There isn't a ton of seating inside the restaurant but we were able to walk in and get seated within 10 minutes for a Sunday morning brunch. By the time we left, though, there were many people waiting for tables. The food came quick and was beyond good. I had the Southwest Mess with spicy hash browns. Being the first time eating at Nina's, I had to ask what the spicy hash browns were. They are hash browns cooked in Franks hot sauce. Delish! Highly recommended. Especially if you're a fan of Franks or hot sauce in general. My wife ordered the Banana Nut French Toast. Also delish. They use homemade banana bread which was a nice touch. Nina's Cafe needs a good bath! Mr. MVP, the B family and I had Sunday morning breakfast at Nina's recently and the place was filthy. Our coffee cups were covered in grime, the silverware was caked with food stuff and the tables had a thin layer of grease. We arrived at 8:45 a.m. and the floor looked as though it had been already been through an entire hard day of business. My tote went on a chair. Ick! Our waitress was obviously not having a very good day because her irritation with us was apparent. She handed us the menus and immediately asked if we were ready to order. When we said we needed a minute she actually sighed. I'm not sure if she thought we had planned ahead and reviewed the menu in the car, but breakfast for us is a social event. We are polite customers and we are excellent tippers. Jeesh, she tried my patience. Our breakfast was only so, so. Even Mr. MVP who likes most anything said his meal of hash was only okay. My veggie omelet was not bad. The mushrooms were fresh and the green peppers were not mushy. The B family did say they had issues with runny whites on the eggs they ordered specifically the opposite way. The food itself was pretty standard diner fair; the bacon was nice and crispy, and the portions of everything were really big. Five stars for inexpensive, fast, delicious and massive portions. It's not a fancy place but the food is good. My husband and I came in for the first time and while people were waiting for tables, we were able to skinny up to the counter where we received decent coffee. Our food came out before I could finish my 'words with friends' turn. I had the tomato basil omelet and was quite impressed. I'm glad I could get the three egg portion because 6 eggs for a 1.50 more would have made me throw in the towel. I had a side of sausage that was what I expected. Amazing food. Went here on Sunday around 1 o'clock. You'll probably have to wait to sit down (but I wouldnt expect not to on Sunday afternoon). Service was really fast and super nice. They have a huge menu and everything looks delicious! I got the Joel's Favorite, biscuits and gravy covered with hashbrowns and 2 eggs. Super good! Gravy is amazing. Hashbrowns were crispy. But the real winner here is the banana bread french toast. Unbelievably good and made with fresh banana bread baked in house every morning. It came with cinnamon butter which was delicious. This was better than I expected. I have never been a fan of diners or eating out for breakfast, but I was pleasantly surprised by Nina's. The food quality was decent, the service was swift and friendly, and the atmosphere was appropriate. The restaurant is smaller than I expected, so on a busy day, you might have a hard time getting a table. We were there in a Wednesday, and had no trouble getting a table for 5. I had a 3 egg scramble with bacon and hash browns. I think my wife had the same. Pretty standard fare. The kids had bacon or sausage and pancakes; they liked the meat, but both my wife and my oldest said the syrup was pretty bad (they are spoiled with maple syrup at home). To quote my 5 year old, "Best breakfast food ever!" I won't go that far, but Nina's is a pretty good bet for breakfast. read more
