We chose Brick and Brine to celebrate a very special Anniversary! Brick and Brine provided us with an absolutely phenomenal dining experience!! Our dinner stretched out over a nearly 3 hour time period, but felt like it flew by at the same time! Never rushed, but intentional and SO enjoyed!! Our waiter was fabulous and made sure that our every need (and want!) was met. He went over and above for us and we loved every moment!! I wish I had gotten his name to mention here! We started our evening browsing the cocktail menu. The offerings are vast! We ordered two different kinds of old fashioned options, always a favorite! One had very unique twist and arrived on fire/smoking! The drink continued to have a smoke effect, but this did not highly alter the flavor! It was delicious and fun! "It adds drama" is how our waiter put it, and he was right! :) It was called "Fire House No. 4". Next we perused the appetizer section. The choices were excellent and we landed on the meatballs, going off of recommendations and previous experience! For meatballs, they were indeed quite delicious but if I'm being completely honest I don't think I'd choose them again. I would venture out a little more. The scallops came highly recommended by our waiter. Also highly recommended was the steak tartare! After our appetizer we ordered a wedge salad. This was wonderful! It mimics what you'd traditionally expect from a wedge salad - this one served with multiple small wedges of iceberg lettuce - but the toppings elevate so nicely! Bleu cheese, the most delicious marinated tomatoes, pickled red onions, and the best, most flavorful chunks of bacon! This was a favorite!! It was finally time to decide on entrees. This was tough! There are many choices I'd like to try and we will definitely be back to try some more. Because this was a special meal and we had heard very good things, both of us ordered the ribeye steak. This is a large piece of meat that arrived with mouthwatering presentation. While the flavors were most definitely evident of a quality piece of meat, I would personally not choose this exact entree again. The meat was well cooked, and done to my requested level, but arrived not very warm. I like my food hot and while I acknowledge that a fine steak presentation likely requires a rest time, my own opinion is put off when I feel like my food is in any way on the cold side. I did not complain about this - and it doesn't affect my rating, but it is worth noting and something I'd like to know when making a decision for ordering! Other entrees that I saw coming out around me that I am SO very interested in trying on a future visit were the fried chicken (WOW! The presentation on this dish is NEXT level!) and the salmon! Everything I saw coming to nearby tables looked quite stunning and I'd quite honestly like to try each dish from their menu! ;) This place is quality, it is very evident! We paired our dinner entree with two side items. The side items are large, intended to serve multiple people. We chose the crispy fingerling potatoes and the Brussels sprouts. Both were perfection! We loved them! The Brussels sprouts had SO much flavor! Even the leftovers the next day were so delectable! We finished our meal with the most exceptional dessert! It was a hard decision but we chose the Chocolate Hazelnut Flourless Torte! AMAZING! It was served with an orange creamsicle ice cream which sounds like a strange accompaniment for these flavors but it fit so very well with the dish. The hazelnut crémeux on the side was also exceptional - just a really great dessert, all around! Alongside our dessert we ordered an elevated espresso that was absolute perfection! One of THE best dessert cocktail beverages I have ever had! I highly recommend this either as your dessert or as an accompaniment! So, so good! Even though there were a couple of things during this meal that I personally would not choose to order again, everything was still superb! I can't choose any less than five very deserved stars!! We celebrated my father's 70th birthday here, and it didn't disappoint. They offer a variety of spaces to fit small and large groups. We hosted 10 people in their main dining room, and it was the perfect ambiance. Their dinner rolls are complimentary, super fluffy and come with a side of black salted butter. Wow, what a wonderful anniversary dinner! As old fans of Zazio's, we left the area right before B+B opened, but we have been excited for the opportunity to try it. After a long wait, it didn't disappoint. Walking in, we were struck by the beautiful remodel that was done (maybe with the exception of the very green glass chandelier that you'll either love or hate). The windows into the kitchen provide a wonderful view of the magic as it happens, and the old chef's table experience that looked like a Food Network set has been changed into a cozy kitchen table experience that looks delightful. The wait staff was all exceptional, and the food was top notch (except we found the meatballs just ok). We will happily come back to celebrate other momentous occasions here. read more

Started with a French onion soup the cheese was cooked perfectly on top and the onions were delicious, 9/10 all time! Not a fan. We were seated in the lounge area while the rest of the place was not very crowded. We were not offered lounge specials, I realized after the fact. The seating was uncomfortable- our knees were touching the underside of the table because the tables in the section are short and not meant to be dining tables for a full on sit down meal. My fiancé is 6' and his knees wouldn't fit under the table so he spent his whole meal eating hunched forward over the table. Service was ok. Food was mediocre. read more

Small touches like merely acknowledging special occasions make an enormous impact! Our server, Anna, was well informed, gracious and just charismatic enough. Food was delicious, of course. I had to travel to work once a month to Michigan. Brian Brian is my favorite restaurant to go to! Everything I have had there is absolutely amazing. My favorite drink is a dirty martini and they make it perfect. I am in love with their whipped feta! I do request vegetables instead of bread though. I want to start off my saying I had a great experience a few months ago. So great, that I brought coworkers tonight and felt our experience did not live up to expectation. Our server was great. Really warm and welcoming. We ordered the meatballs for an app to share and they were great. The tomahawk was really what brought me back to Brick and Brine. I was so excited to share this. Around 30-40 min after our order was taken we were informed that the kitchen had overcooked our steak and they would have to redo the plate. Another 30 minutes and still no food on the table. We were assured that they were adding finishing touches and would be served shortly. Mind you this has been over an hour since we ordered and it was a routine week night. We were very much looking forward to the main course at this point. To our disappointment the steak was far too rare for a medium rare cut. I try not to be too picky about rare meat but this being a work dinner we sent the food back to be cooked longer. All in all it was just ok this go around. The potatoes might have been the best part of the meal. Meat lacked flavor. I did have higher expectations and I know that it has been done before, having dined here just months ago. Will hopefully give this another try next time in town but missed the mark this go around read more

The server who brought the feta and pita to the table said (don't worry about the pita amount,we will bring you more) then they charged us extra fees for the extra pita without mentioning it. In the online reservation i mentioned that i am celebrating my husband birthday, but when we arrived the had us seated next to the kitchen door, very noisy, smelly and disturbing for a couple who are celebrating a special occasion and want a cozy romantic spot to enjoy their time. For dessert, we ordered toffee cake since the server encouraged us to order it, but i am not a fan of in this cake because It was crispy and dry. For appetizers, we ordered feta with pita bread . Nice , creamy and full of flavors. For main course, we ordered burgers because i heard a lot about it. It is served with garlic fries on the side. The burger patty was thick and juicy, while the other one was thick and crispy. The frise was not bad but it was a little greasy. I probably will not come back again. 2nd visit here... first time was amazing. This time I took the recommendation of the waiter and got the oven roasted chicken. It was tough and over cooked. Gave them the feedback and asked for the fried chicken I got last time. They said it would take 40 min. I was happy to wait, ordered another drink while I waited. They packaged my chicken and said hope you enjoy at home. My wife asked for a manager and he asked what he could do and just stared at our table. Came here with a party of 10 to celebrate my 50th birthday. The service was slow, the server acted as if we were inconveniencing her, and we were a table of hospitality folks. So, we were understanding and kind. HOWEVER.....The food took FOREVER!! Then all the burgers were over-cooked, ordered medium, got well and the fries were old. The François was burnt and the only thing sent back to the kitchen. We decided not to order dessert based on the experience. I am the only person who had celiac and I was not cross contaminated and that was the only positive thing. It was my wife birthday and I been studying this place on the internet because I knew we'd be in Kalamazoo for a Jack & Jill event. I did not make a reservation because I was insure of the agend of the event did not want to miss the reservation if the event lasted too long. I pointed out all the empty table and that no one can make a reservation on OpenTable after 9:45pm (I knew this because I was going to make a reservation before arriving.) After consult with the manager, we were shown a table and Steve was assigned to serve us. The manager personally came over to apologize, explain how they try to start ending table service systematics at about 9:30pm, but that he would find us a server. Basically, it all worked out in the end. We got seated. We ordered the Feta"beginnings" menu item and it was DELICIOUS!! Bread was very warm, the feta was nicely whipped with honey contrast against the sour feta backdrop was amazing! The kitchen staff is well trained because everything was cooked to perfection. Our table shared the meatballs and they were so good. They were bursting with flavor & very tender. The grilled focaccia they're served with was warm and perfect for putting a bite of meatball on or dipping in the sauce. The steaks done come with sides so you'll order those separately and they price and serve them to share. We shared the onion rings which were huge and extra crispy and served with garlic aioli, yum! I've never been disappointed by Brussels Sprouts and these are exceptional. They soft on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside and tossed with soy, chilies, bacon and topped with peanuts. I ordered the Butchers Cut 10 oz Hanging Steak and loved it. I ordered it medium and it was grilled perfectly. They serve it with a whole grilled garlic which is perfect to eat with every bite of steak. You can order sauces separately which I did. I loved the scallion & garlic ash butter. We decided to get the shared Tomahawk entrée and were very glad we did - it was absolutely fabulous! Delicious sides included, especially the potatoes. We got two desserts, the chocolate fudge cake and the orange bread pudding.
