Great service on a quiet Sunday afternoon. There's a sign from the fire department on the door that seemed like the place was closed. It's not. Even though it's dark inside, walk in. Beautiful space that overlooked what I think was frozen wetland. Pretty though. Big fireplace in the middle of the wall of high windows. Emma was very sweet and attentive. There weren't many people there today. Maybe Sunday. Maybe Super Bowl but I would expect the place to be packed with how good the food is. The French fries are THE BEST with a super crunch. Food, Service, and ambiance were all excellent. The Vodka Matini with cheese stuffed olives were all 4 star.

My wife and I went here on a date night before going to see a show at Miller. We were sat quickly, had good service, good food, and a good overall experience. My only complaint was that the veggies were a little undercooked but the meat was great. read more

I ate at Fieldstone Grill last night, a spot where three friends and I like to gather. I usually have a good meal there. However, last night was certainLyn the exception. I ordered the fish and chips special, (24.95) with asparagus, as did a friend. When we received our order, our meals did not look remotely the same. Her's looked the way they should look. Mine looked like two pieces of leather dropped in the deep fryer. It was so crispy, not in a good way, the breading was inedible. The lemon aioli sauce was missing from both plates. We had to ask for it, it did not, by the way, improve the meal. The asparagus was under the fish, so it was limp and overdone. The fries were good. The head chef never should have let the plate leave the kitchen and the server never should have picked it up. I do not mind paying $$$ for good food, but I expect the food to be just that-good. I left two $20s for a $29 bill. After picking up all the bills but one, and bringing all back to the table, except mine, the server asked if I needed change. Yes, I did. I had no intention of leaving an $11 tip. Then, when my change came, she brought a $10 and a $1. Again, service was okay, but not a 38% tip good, especially considering the quality of the food and the judgment of the server. As a group, we have decided to change it up next time we meet and try another place. I should add, of the four of us, only one is local. The other three of us traveled. It's too bad, really. I never leave reviews, but our recent experience was disappointing enough that I feel it's important to share. I made a reservation on April 12th for a party of 15 and even called back twice to confirm all of the details. At no point during those conversations was I informed that our group would be split into two tables, that there would be a limited menu, or that there was a strict time limit on our reservation. When we arrived, we were surprised to learn we would not be seated together. While not ideal, we made the best of it. However, the most frustrating part came at the end of our meal. A manager approached us and asked if we had been informed about a time limit--which we had not. We were then told we had 15 minutes left, but in the same breath were essentially asked to leave immediately because another party was already waiting. After spending nearly $700 on dinner, being rushed out without prior notice felt extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate. Clear communication upfront would have made all the difference. Due to this level of customer service, we would strongly recommend others--especially those planning gatherings or special occasions like Mother's Day--to consider other options. Husband's Christmas party was at Fieldstone. We had 3 options, pot roast, walleye and chicken. The meal started with the smallest salad I've ever seen, followed by the main course that was lukewarm at best. All dishes included a scoop of instant mashed potatoes, my pot roast had 2 pieces of meat with one piece being mostly a mass of fat. My husband shared his walleye, it was terrible. We've eaten at the other Millennium restaurant across the street and it's always been good. This meal was a total flavorless mess! read more

We heard there was a new chef and were eager to try the great menu. We had terrific service and enjoyed the Monday discount. We thought the green beans and sweet potato fries as a side were the best part of the meal. Suggestions of almond crusted walleye and salmon BLT were followed but were poorly received. Let me start by saying that Fieldstone has been onr of my favorite restaurants in Kalamazoo. I haven't been there for a couple years, but tonight was a huge disappointment. We were there early with the idea of having a drink at the bar and dinner afterwards We ordered a martini special and a single malt scotch. The martini was ok, but the scotch was the weakest pour I'd ever had at restaurant. My wife joked that somebody drank it while I wasn't looking. I noticed that every drink the bartender made was measured and the result was the low side of any scale. Worse than that they charged me nearly $20 for an ounce. We left and went to what I would consider a comparable or slightly better place. I ordered the same scotch and got a double pour for $13. I've never given a review before, but was so disappointed in a place that I used to recommend. But charging premium prices for non premium pours is an embarrassment and should be called out read more

Last week my wife and I went to Fieldstone for dinner to have an anniversary dinner out. We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious meal. We chose the Peach & Prosciutto Burrata as an appetizer. Oh my, I wanted to order a second one and call it my main course. Yep that delicious! My wife had the Boursin Stuffed Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Bourbon & Fig Glazed Pork Chop. I was a little skeptical when ordering a "PORK" chop medium. We know all we have been told for years about cooking pork until the flavor was completely cooked out of it so it wouldn't kill us. I am still getting used to great moist pork chops. Overall service was adequate at best. I had to ask our waitress for a spoon to stir sugar in my tea and she brought me a straw. I asked another waitress and she promptly brought a spoon for me. Seating area was clean and cozy feeling. Weather was great and that helped the evening to be a nice one to eat outside. read more

For a standard place with a cool ambiance and higher than I care to pay prices, it's a good place to eat. I'm not one to pay more for my food just because of the name, so grabbing a nice burger and fries here is much like grabbing one anywhere. The service on this particular visit was less than appealing though and the server was preoccupied with whatever else she may have had going on near the kitchen and on her phone. I'd say that given the upscale atmosphere they are trying to have here, that the server has to be on point and attentive to their tables and not giggling with their friends on social media. Pretty nice restaurant in Portage Michigan. I was in Portage visiting family and they brought me to Firestone for dinner and it was really good. It's not a fancy restaurant but it's definitely much better than your typical Chili's, Friday's, Olive Garden, etc. Not sure if it was, but it felt like a restaurant that also brews beer. I don't think they brew their own beer but they definitely had a lot of Bells Brewery options to pick from. If you're in the Portage area, definitely worth checking this place out Lots of good options on the menu. I got the Ultimate Pastrami sandwich which was really big and tasty. read more

The redecorating makes the dining room look like a college dorm cafeteria. No booths, just long, large tables. The 3 of us sat at a table for 6 as that was all that was available. No problem, just crappy ambiance. The margherita pizza at $21.95 was terrible and should not have been served. There were large, burnt air bubbles, no fresh basil as stated on the menu, just a bland " pesto" circle and the toppings were in a very small circle....not all the way to the edge. I was with a group and it would have been awkward to send it back , but I definitely should have. I did tell the waitress the pizza looked bad, but she was young and said nothing. Steak on the steak salad was cooked incorrectly and the other guests salad was full of inedible pieces of lettuce core instead of leaves. We'll look elsewhere for a good dining experience. Food and drinks were great. Had a full meal with the red pepper bisque, chicken dijonaisse and flour less chocolate cake. All were amazing. We (party of 2) were seated next to the kitchen which was distracting due to the constant staff traffic. Then a large party of 12+ was seated next to us and made it difficult to hear across the table. The neighboring patron (who grabbed one of our chairs without asking) even leaned up against our table to talk to the wait staff frequently. For valentine's weekend, a more intimate spot would have been appreciated. The fault is more towards the clientel, who did not choose the appropriate atmosphere for their party (very loud and rowdy). Very nice place. Spacious interior with beautiful view out the large windows, floor to ceiling fieldstone fireplace, exposed wood beams create relaxing ambiance. Very nice waitress - Amy. We stopped here on our way north after discovering our first choice hadn't opened for the day. Zucchini chips, Soup and salad were good. Flat bread was tasty and chicken salad croissant was flavorful. Parking lot, restaurant & restrooms are all wheelchair accessible. It was quiet and we had to wait for the hostess. We found this place on a whim and it was amazing. The food was delicious, as well as decently priced. It has a nice atmosphere where you can dress up if you want to have a fancy date night, or dress down if you want casual. The overall appearance inside is gorgeous. Overpriced for what you get, mixed drinks were all juice at $10-$12 a serving. Service was meh. OMG, we had such a phenomenal date night here. We had the pizza and it was fabulous. Crust was perfect and not too much of anything and tasted perfect. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart and was perfect with checking in and making sure to stay on top of everything we needed!
