Tried Tequila for the first time last week and was impressed more than I could imagine for a local Mexican restaurant. We were greeted by a rather dashing young man in a black suit and red tie who was very kind and courteous right off the bat. We were seated and then greeted by our server who was also very nice and offered drinks and she noted that there was a special for $10 that was 2 chimmies, rice and beans. I have to say that the special was not skimpy in the least and was delicious. My buddy had a wet burrito with cheese sauce along with red and green sauce and he raved about it as well. I was certainly a member of the clean plate club and thought about buying a second entree just to take home, but decided that a return visit was more in order. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and well stocked and I appreciate that because a lot of places are not so fresh at 8pm. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and I can't say enough about how they treat their guests. I will most definitely be back soon! read more

The food, apart from being overpriced, was bland and uninspiring. My wife had to add salt to the salsa, and we typically never add salt to anything. the service was adequate, but when we asked if the fajitas were big enough to share, she seemed reluctant to give a firm answer (they are, by the way). The steak was very grisly, had very little seasoning, the refried beans and rice were ice cold. Also, shredded cheese does not come with the fajitas. It's an extra $2.50 if you want any. We were only brought one plate and three flour tortillas and were then charged $1.99 for three more. Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't charge us for the extra plate and napkins. The margarita didn't seem to have any alcohol. The ambiance is pretty ridiculous. there were holes in the wall where outlets and TV wall mounts used to be, and some dollar store Mexican decorations hanging on the wall. The best part of the entire experience were the chips that came with the salsa. From a bag, if I had to bet. Overall, it isn't hard to cook Mexican food. I have made better fajitas from Pinterest recipes in my home for a fraction of the price. Do better, guys. We won't be back. read more

Food and service was good. Atmosphere was nice. Happy hour sundays! Half price margaritas, etc My only complaint was my daiquiri was served in a chipped glass, so I didn't drink it and it wasn't taken off the bill and I wasn't given a new one. read more

This was our first time dining at the restaurant. It was a Friday evening. The bar area was busy so we sat in the dining area. We were greeted fairly quickly by our server who took our drink orders and brought us some chips and salsa. If there was one thing I wish they had it was hot sauce. We asked for a hotter sauce and our waitress brought a small container they give with tacos. It was ok flavor but no spice. My chicken fajitas were alright. The chicken was slightly burned and a bit dry. My husband really loved his dinner and said the skirt steak had a very good flavor. While we dined, we listened to a mariachi singer who wasn't too loud where we couldn't hear each other talk. While our waitress was good, she did take longer to come back around to get us more drinks, extra napkins, etc but that was because she was waiting on quite a few tables. This place is nice! I have since been back again. The vibe is cool and staff is very friendly and hospitable. The only complaint I have is both times I have been there is confusion with availability and seating. I think they may still be figuring out the process of hosting so many people. The first day I went the place was packed and the second time I went it was slow, both times service was slow, so do not go here for a quick rushed meal. The food was DELICIOUS and the drinks are flavorful! You definitely get your monies worth with their portion sizes, and the food tastes authentic. read more

Food was extremely disappointing. Everything was oily, the rice and beans were cold and lacked flavor, and the quality did not come close to justifying the price. Charging $3.00 for extra chips felt excessive on top of an already overpriced meal. Service was also very slow, and unfortunately the staff was openly arguing in front of customers about tables, tips, and other issues, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. It honestly felt like they tried to nickel and dime customers at every opportunity. I rarely leave reviews, but this was a genuinely poor experience. We will not be returning. Zero stars. I would not waste my money here. Poorly run, food was terrible, and understaffed. The drinks were not what we ordered, they took them back and we didn't get anything to drink until we asked for our check. The food was also wrong, missing items from the burrito (our waiter acknowledged and agreed on this fact). The tacos were not ordered, asked for fajitas. When they finally brought out the fajitas, the steak was overcooked chunks of dried out meat, (again the waiter was apologetic but stated the people cooking were not the usual). $66.23 wasted on food I couldn't eat and drinks we didn't get until we were leaving. read more

The food here was so good! I was disappointed in the chips but the salsa, tacos and the huge thing of chicken, steak and cactus was so good! It came with a bacon wrapped jalapeño and a cheese quesadilla and chorizo. read more

I came here for the first time and will probably not be going back. The atmosphere, cool lights, and decorations on the walls were so fun, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. The food was pretty standard, not horrible, but not amazing. A little pricey for what it was. The most disappointing part was the service. I don't want to sound like a Karen, and I try to be understanding of food service workers. But we felt a bit neglected by our server. She never brought our sour cream we asked for, even though it wasn't busy in the restaurant. Then we sat for a good 25 minutes after finishing our meals, waiting for her to come back to our table so we could ask for our checks. But she was sitting at a corner table that whole time, rolling silverware (I think), with her back to us. Just a little frustrating and disappointing. Maybe would've been a better experience on a different night. read more

The food is just amazing, the service is good, but Tito the bartender does not speak English, another lady had to come and translate, this was okay, except that if they were busy, there will be no one to translate, this is Portage, few people speak Spanish here. But other than that, the food was great, the margaritas are delicious and they even have a sampler of 5 different margaritas. The ambiance is great, they have music but it's soft enough that one can still have a conversation. We will be back. read more

Authentic food and decor and attentive service were highlights of our visit recently. We all enjoyed our orders and were very satisfied with the generous portions. The word delicious was used many times during the evening. My only complaint was only one basket of chips no matter how many at the table, especially with the prices being a little higher than other Mexican restaurants in the area. I would recommend and we will return again. Give it a try, but don't plan to fill up on chips and salsa, unless you want to pay extra. read more

Tequilas is a great addition to the Portage restaurant scene. Food is pretty darn authentic, and portions are as expected. I've visited Tequilas a number of times since they have opened and the service is getting better each time. For those that knock them for their service have to understand that this place is new and some of the servers are just getting started in the business. I recommend the birria tacos, enchiladas, and my favorite is the chimichanga. Nice job Tequilas, see you in the near future!! read more

I thought our food was flavorful. I had the beef chimichanga and my wife had a steak dish. Service was very quick. Our server seemed new to the job - just not too sure of herself. When we told her we were ready for our bill, she asked if it was together or separate, and it was just my wife and I. We will have future meals here. read more

We tried this place because we had heard great reviews from multiple people, but we were not impressed. We were seated right away which started off great. The hostess dropped one bundle of silverware on the floor on the way to our table. Clinking, so I knew it hit the floor. I watched her pick it up and then she looked like she was keeping it separate from the clean silverware, but then put both on the table! When our waitress came, we asked her for more. She looked confused, but brought all new silverware for the table. After being seated, it was a good 10 minutes before we even saw our waitress. The people across from us were there a bit before us and also looked like they had been waiting awhile. We placed our drink order and food order at the same time, just in case. The bar area was pretty full, but we were seated in the back, so I was wondering if they forgot about us. It took longer than expected to get our food and someone (not the waitress) came out to clarify our meat choice in our order before the food came out. Usually when we go to Mexican restaurants, the plates are hot, and the waitress warns us. Not here. The plate was not warm. The food was lukewarm. It tasted fine. I'm not sure if this was an off night or we were seated in the wrong place, but the food definitely should have been hotter. Not sure if we will visit again. read more

The food was decent, more authentic than most of the Mexican restaurants in the area, the choice of hot sauce for a Mexican restaurant is much less than any one I've been to. I am big into hot sauces. But food was generally good. Ambiance is 7 out of 10. Their service was great, we had no issues with that other than finally getting a water after our meals were finished. read more

This was our 3rd time going to Tequila's. The first two times were great, great service, great food, last night was just okay. We ordered a top shelf and a regular Margarita and they both tasted like they were carbonated, even though the waiter said they weren't. They were super nice and took them off our tab, but that experience paired with the mediocre food, we probably won't go back. read more

My husband and I went for dinner last night we waited about 10 minutes to be seated no big deal. Once we were seated a lady dropped off chips and salsa within a few minutes. We got a waitress within 10 minutes she asked our drink order and I asked to place our food order since I could tell from looking around me it would be awhile if I didn't so we placed our order and got our food within 20-25 minutes and the food was warm and tasted ok but our waitress never came to check on us once we kept waiting for her to come back a good 20 minutes after we finished eating and our drinks had been gone we heard the table next to us who had been done eating awhile before us ask another lady where their waitress went they wanted boxes and to leave so she finally came and gave them their boxes and check and then came over to us we got a box and check finally. They seemed very unorganized from the start. read more
