Yikes. This place has some decent reviews so we gave it a shot. Service was prompt and friendly. Ordered some beers they were excellent!! Our chicken pesto panini sandwich was terrible. The chicken was old. It was dry and it tasted like dirty refrigerator. Server was pleasant enough and we wanted to make sure she knew we knew it wasn't her fault cuz some people are just jerks like that. We were turned off from the sandwich and didn't want it remade so we ordered some spinach dip. It came out so fast!! And it was. Seriously we both just cringed. The artichoke hearts weren't probably cleaned so the tough spiky bits were in the dip. But the worst part was the chips served with it. They were clearly reheated and the smell of dirty/rancid oil hit my nose before my tongue. We moved the dip around the plate to look like we ate some. Grabbed the check and ran!! Could we have talked to manager? Sure. But 2 meals out of 2 were bust we didn't want to deal with it. And given we'd sent our fist meal back we figured if a manager was interested in our experience they would have come out right away. While home visiting, I always want to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends. My cousins and I were trying to figure out the best time and place to meet up with my Dad and me and one of them mentioned Monelli's, which I have no idea when it opened but certainly a newer location since I moved away or other recent visits. I try to go home a few times a year. The space was large with lots of TVs and sports memorabilia so they had plenty of space for us to sit down and enjoy a meal together. It was a great centralized location for all of us as both my cousins worked close by and Dad and I were out on Westnedge shopping and seeing what was new. I ordered the stromboli as that is one of my favorite things but that also makes me pretty picky about it being yummy. Monelli's I enjoyed my food & time so much I almost turned this review into a love poem. Anyway, absolutely best Italian dishes I've personally had in a very long time. Literally stopped at Monelli's randomly while on the way to Chicago & it was so good there was no other option but to stop and dine in again with Monelli's on my way back from Chicago. I mean, pastas and the sauces cooked to perfection. Lasagna was amazing and will definitely get you full! Very nice sized plates overall. Both experiences I've had at Monelli's were 5 star experiences. The service was quick and friendly. They were somewhat busy both of my visits but I like that they have two separate dining rooms based on the atmosphere you prefer. On one side it's more of sports bar vibes with games on tvs and the other side is more of a standard dining room with a little less distraction around. I sat in both areas and both were very pleasant. Am I crazy to drive 2 and a half hours just to go eat at Monelli's? Probably. But am I crazy and will I actually do it? Probably. It'd be so worth it. The large bar area was packed (two empty seats)... and still I was warmly greeted by Kenzie and Ashley within seconds! I had to put something green in my body, so I opted for the usual Caesar w chicken and a couple meatballs for a side. I know it's a basic requirement, however high praise for the bartop being freshly wiped and the bonus of the hustle of the bar team. One star deduct for a "too wet" caesar (seems to be a Midwest thing). I didn't need my extra side of dressing. read more

This is a cool spot to watch the game. Looking for a place with decent food and the game, this is where we landed. Even with being busy the service was pretty good. I had a salad with a Sangria. The sangria which was my second drink choice was good. The berry martini which was my first drink choice tasted like medicine. Th salad was fresh tasting and the vinegarette was alright. Honestly, this is the best sports bar around. If you're looking for a good place to watch a game, have a large menu where they execute most everything well, and have a great servers and bartenders... look no further! Great food and drinks however I don't recommend the vodka penne it's strongly made with vodka. The lasagna is awesome along with the salmon. The Pink panther was an amazingly made drink and a little dangerous if you'd ask me as for you can't taste the alcohol at all which is my type of drink. The sports selection on the TVs was wonderful and gave for various types of entertainment The bar was also super nice but a little crowded. read more

I've never came here and not had an excellent meal. Sports bars with a nicer menu and clientele is always a hit for me and my friends/family. I highly recommend any sandwiches or their apps, food always comes out hot, drinks are always full. the service from the wait staff is average i find better attention usually at the bar with the bartender or maybe at night when there's more of them. i love this place though for the kzoo area. I just hope they get Surfside or Sun cruisers drinks soon !!! read more

Same with the refills. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce and it arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. I didn't like the bread though. our cheesy bread was burnt and SO unedible. when our pizza came out it was also burnt, we sent it back and had them make another. when our bill came, they charged us for the bread! I told the waitress I didnt think we should have to pay for it so she went to the manager who removed 1/2 the cost. Having both eaten in and ordering take-out from Monelli's, I have found their service equally good with both. Their lunch buffet offers a great variety with pastas, pizza, salads, and more. All is served hot and very well prepared. As for the pizza, the sauce is the best in town and they are very generous with the toppings. While attending the NSRA Nationals, a group of 16 went for supper on 9/19/25. They swiftly accommodated us at two large tables. We had two wonderful young ladies as servers, quick to get our beverage and food orders. Food was far above average - Everyone was extremely happy with their orders. I had Chicken Piccata with vegetables . . .incredible. I am so sorry I cannot remember our two girl's names - they deserve the credit!! My husband and I sat in the bar room and ordered pizza and a couple cocktails. our pizza was so good!! it was cooked just right! it was the Monelli's special and was delicious! I love the seasoning on it! also very generous toppings, it made it so tasty! I also give our waitress kudos for bringing my full glass of cosmopolitan across the room without spilling it!! our waitress was wonderful! very nice and attentive. My wife ordered the sun dried tomato pasta for takeout, ate less than half of it and found a sharp piece of plastic in her meal. When she called to notify management that there was plastic, the only option she was met with was "we can put your name on a list for a free meal when you come in next". We are from out of town and for that to be the only option given is very insensitive considering she could have cut her mouth. The manager was pretty rude about it when the only thing she wanted to do was notify them since it looks like the piece broke off from somewhere else and might still be in someone else's food. Funny story. Lived in Portage, IN for a couple of years and met some really nice people there. Live in Detroit now but still meet up a couple of times a year and of course restaurant Avenue in Portage, MI is about the halfway point. Monelli's got picked this last time and wow! What a great place. I loved the way they split the place into "sports bar" / "restaurant" areas. I like to concentrate on my food when I eat, so it works perfectly. As far as the food is concerned, I can only speak for myself. My meatballs with a side of spaghetti was incredible. My companions must have enjoyed their meals but it was hard to tell with all the oohing and ahhhing going on. This place is a "must go to" for anyone looking for great food and a warm cozy atmosphere. Last word about the service, efficient, knowledgeable, attentive and adorable. I've been to this location a hand full of times and the food has always been very good and orders accurate. they are always quite busy. My favorite dishes are the Dirty mac, and the rigitoni al forno. I prefer the restaurant side as the bar side can get kinda noisy at times and hard to hear your dinner partner! read more

Decided to try here again after a long absence but having some friends say good things recently. We were greeted quickly and seated......right under the AC vent. Serer apologised and moved us to next table. Some wet substance on the table and companions chair. Brought it to the servers attention and she went to get cleaning cloth. We switched that chair out in the mean time and pulled my chair out ......a puddle of water about the size of a saucer was on the seat. Apologies again. Drinks arrived fairly quick and we ordered pizza thin crust. She got the manager to switch one screen so we could watch the race and football. We appreciated that. Pizza came and it was very tasty but everything except about one inch of the outer edge was soggy and fell apart as it was removed from the platter. We will try again in a week or two when friends visit. Hope it goes better! read more

Came here with some family and the place was really busy. I guess there is a quieter area for seating but we were placed in the bar. It's loud in there. If you are into sports then you won't be disappointed as they have a lot of big screen tv's on every wall. However, it is quite noisy in the bar area. The menu has a lot of Italian options and sandwiches. We had Stromboli, pasta and Buffalo chicken bombs. The Stromboli and pasta were a big hit but the Buffalo chicken breast bombs were just meh. I liked the concept better than execution. It was mostly cheese and very little Buffalo chicken. The service was really good despite the place being packed. So no complaints there. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd come back. read more
