Randomly stopped for lunch on Father's Day. Very busy but well staffed and order time and food delivery was just fine for how busy as they were. My wife had a nice salad and I had the prime rib sandwich and beer battered fries. The fries were the best and the prime rib on my sandwich was so very tender. Food is always fairly consistent. Beer is cold and they usually have my go to on tap. Daily specials are varied.

The food was ok. My kids liked the chicken strips and fries. However, my husband's burger was pretty dry and very bland. I didn't care for my pork sandwich, but my beer battered fries were delicious. What really bothers me is that we had a to-go order and they charge an 18% automatic gratuity for any order over $30 and there is still a space on the receipt to add a tip. If you are not aware of the gratuity (as I was not bc I ordered over the phone) you may not realize that you already tipped. For this reason alone, I will probably not go back. In my opinion, the pick-up service was not worth 18% gratuity and neither was the food. It was a typical dimly lit rural bar. I probably wouldn't eat inside. read more

Anything you order over $30 automatically get gratuity added to your bill for take out. They don't even tell you that it just happens. I like to tip cash so they don't lose their tips. So that rubbed us the wrong way. Hubby's boneless wings weren't as wet as he wanted so I think we would have to ask for a side of sauce to go on them next time. Weren't to crazy about the curly fries but the beer battered ones were better. Wrap was good, no kid's burger so we had to order an adult one which he couldn't finish but said was good. If you would've asked me about this place 2 weeks ago, I would've given it a 1 (ridiculous wait time). I went again recently and was politely surprised. Their cheese balls are amazing. You must eat the wings as soon as they make them. They gave 15+ wing flavors. I ordered mine to go with a side of fries. Sadly, they forgot the fries (the only thing stopping them from a 4 star). Patrons of this establishment be sure to check your bills. We got our bill and there were 3 additional "tax" charges. One for the use of a credit card which shouldn't of been in there since we were paying cash and then 2 tax changes. I have been here quite a few times on our way to the barn and tonight was not the best. We continued to come back due to the food and good times. Tonight waited an hour for our food (we were ok with that we had time and enjoyed a couple drinks). I get the steak bites never an issue. Tonight the bites looked like they had sat for quite a while and the garlic toast was I swear microwaved (never like that before). Stumbled upon the Players Grill as we were out in the Augusta area on a Sunday afternoon. Not a lot of places are opened at 3pm on a Sunday so we were happy to find Players Grill. Walking into the restaurant, I didn't have a high hopes. But was very impressed with how nice the bar & restaurant were once we sat down. Our waiter (and also the bartender) was very attentive. We both ordered their Bloody Mary, which was on special at $3.50. It was very good. Their menu has a lot of options from appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, dinners, salads, etc. It took me a while to read everything over, which again very impressive. I ordered the Olive Burger and D had the Hot Pepper Bacon Burger. There is a sign outside that says "Niskers", but when I asked if they served Niskers burgers (which is one of my favorites), he said no, the sign is old. But no matter, the Olive Burger was delicious and perfectly prepared and it came with curly frieds. D also said his burger was very good. If you are ever out in the Augusta area, be sure to stop by Players Grill. they also have a garden area and have bike night in the summer. read more

My first visit here a few years ago was a disappointment with some of the worst service I've ever experienced. Tonight, a friend had made a reservation for a large group of us. She made these reservations about a week ago knowing Saturday nights are busy everywhere and knowing we had a larger group that might be harder to accommodate. We arrived (a few minutes early) only to be told they gave our reservation to someone else so it would be a 30 minute wait. When asked to speak to a manager we were told "that wouldn't change anything". Not sure why they would even take our reservation if they can't honor it, and not sure why they wouldn't try to accommodate us when they messed up... but I will definitely never come here again and advise others to skip it. I can't say anything about their food because on both visits here, I was unable to order any. read more

Subtotal was only $29.47 but then two different taxes added and then an automatic gratuity of $4.42??? The next issue is why didn't they say anything? I like to give cash for tip so my mom paid with my card and didn't see this was already added and then gave the additional $4 cash... so $9 for a take out of $30? I have been going to this establishment for many years and have posted positive reviews in the past. Unfortunately, I can not in good faith do so now. I will say the food is good and the staff is better- but the owner (Jeff) falls far short. As a customer, there has been many times where it is obvious that he is not investing into his restaurant at the the customers dining experience. For example: in the summer, there is no or little air conditioning and in the winter, no or little heat. Sometimes no ice because the ice cube maker needs to be replaced or often then beer lines freeze up because the thermostat on the keg fridge needs to be replaced. Often there are fruit flys that land in your drink and there is a particular smell from the bar drains. So why am I now just saying this...? Simple: when I finally had the opportunity to raise issue about one of these items to him (mind you he's never there), he told me to go F myself in front of the entire clientele. REALLY? As an owner of a restaurant, that's how you treat a customer? Regardless of how he may have taken my feed back; to tell someone to go F themselves is wrong and although I will greatly miss the many people/staff, I can not spend another dollar there nor recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

Stopped in here at the insistence of my fiance and her sister when I told them I was starving. The place looks a bit like a dive, but the waitresses were very friendly and the beer was cold. We all got wings, and shared mac and cheese bites, and fries. The mac and cheese bites were fantastic, and most of the wing sauces were great. Fantastic place to go when you aren't sure what you want to eat! From Mexican, to sandwiches, to great chicken or fish, this place has a little bit of everything. My go-to meal here is the grilled chicken breasts. There are soooo many choices of sauces and rubs for the grilled chicken and the wings, you'll have a hard time picking. Spent our most recent snowy night warm and cozy inside eating boneless wings. The service was great. Our waitress was super friendly -wish I had her name cause she ruled . Came on a lunch break with a group of friends and the service was unfortunately really rough. We ordered 7 waters and an iced tea - our server commented passive aggressively that it was "too much to write on one sheet." When she brought back the waters, a few of us were ready to order something stronger. She couldn't tell us what beers were on tap or what wines they had available. At this point we mentioned that we were also ready to order food, but she walked away from us. We were still ready when she came back with drinks, but she dropped them off and said she'd be back in a few minutes to take our food orders. When she did come back, she half explained the specials and then ran off again. We got to the point that we needed or order our food to-go in order to make it back to work on time, and asked for our checks in the process. About 15-20 minutes passed, so a friend went in to ask about our checks. She was given attitude from the bartender. Our food came out ready to go and she brought us our checks. We were ready to bust out of there, but after dropping the checks she didn't come back to pick them up. She finally came back out about 10 minutes later to take our ketchup for another table (in this time we ate our boxed food because we were stuck having to wait, so why not...). I asked if we could cash out since we had to leave. She said she'd be back, then proceeded to talk behind our backs to the table next to us, which we heard every word of. We all still tipped because who knows what's going on with someone on any given day, but it was actually the worst service I've probably ever received. In addition, the side salad that I ordered was made incorrectly. It was supposed to come with veggies, crumbled egg, and croutons. Mine only came with the vegetables. I didn't fight the payment or ask for the extras on the side because our server already seemed overwhelmed by just the basics. I really like Players and have previously had good experiences, this was just extremely disappointing. Normally side salads are nothing to write home about, but this one was really good. Croutons were super fresh, very fresh ingredients and also was a pretty large size, for being a side salad. As a local, I presume my sampling of Players/Niskers is more common than others. As such I have had a wide variety of experiences within their walls. I have had amazing service before where I did not go wanting for a single thing all the way down to ranging on never walking through their door again. Commonly I feel the service is 6/10. I only see select waitresses more than once so I figure I am always see them on their "first days" and attempt to be courteous and patient with them. I admittedly have little patience for the "oops I forgot your refill" or watching other tables that come in 5-15 minutes after us and get served similar food to ours before we do. (that has happened a couple of times, hence the mention). Drinks are good, bartenders are much more reliable of constant good service and can make up for the times of lacking server speed with good drinks! read more

We asked the waitress what was good and she said they were known for burgers, shaved beef sandwiches and hand cut curly fries. My wife had a burger that was fantastic. Nice quiet Thursday night. Sat on the patio and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Our server Brit was friendly fun and provided great service. I had the BLT. The only reason I give it a 4 is I am a BLT snob and thought there should be a bit more tomato and lettuce. My wife had the fish tacos and they were very good. Can't go wrong here. This is my favorite restaurant away from home. Literally the best I've had on a very very long time. Had the 6 oz steak and baked potato and it was genuinely the best made steak I've ever had, knocks any steakhouse at home out of the park. Their cornbread? You guessed right, the best cornbread ever. So soft and light. The steak was perfectly grilled. The food here is amazing!!The staff is amazingly nice and courteous. Would never eat here again. Both my daughter & I got steaks for dinner. Ask for mid rare, both came out well well done. Waitress didn't ask how our steaks were, had to tell a different waitress are steaks were over cooked. They gave us new steaks that were still over cooked. My husband got a bacon blue cheese burger for dinner. They put nasty blue cheese dressing on it not blue cheese crumbles. This place sucks for food & service.
