Hi, my husband and I moved to K-zoo last month and We really love it. We live near the Main Stret Pub on West Main and have had some great meals there. That is why I am so surprised by the service we received today. We arrived before dinner rush and ordered right away. This is what their menu stated for the Kabobs: Grilled chicken or steak (add 7.00), glazed with our special sauce & served with grilled onions, tomatoes, green peppers, whole button mushrooms & rice pilaf. Half 13.99, Full 18.99. My husband ordered chicken kabobs, no mushrooms or special sauce. What he got was veggie kabobs with un-grilled chicken on the side, the chicken was cooked, just not grilled. We called over the wait-person and was told they pre-make the kabobs and just serve the grilled meat on the side. I put my husband through college as a chef in Boston and I'm telling you that A: a chicken kabob is not a veggie kabob with meat on the side and B: just plain lazy! We were told they would not credit the dish, which was something we did not even ask for! My husband ordered an appetizer; we paid our bill and left. What a shame a restaurant serves this type of food. I ordered the sweet pepper crab soup and it was awful. They use imitation crab meat and some bland soup base, what restaurant does this! If you're going to say you are serving a crab soup use real crab, not some imitation crab (be sure I know the difference). I also ordered the chicken tender app and they were coated in a hard crust, bland, and overcooked to the point the chicken was so dry you could hardly pull it apart. After having such a great experience earlier this week here, we went for a snack of 50c tacos tonight, as part of the late night special. It started well. The server was friendly but not often seen, and the 5 tacos we ordered came out after 30 minutes and were cold. We never saw our server again. We walked to the counter and asked for our bill. The manager came and had an odd response - almost as if we weren't believed, and to ask for him next time and he would have made it right. We didn't want to sit and wait another half hour for food - and honestly, ask what you can do to make it right currently, don't assume we'll be back. Dropping 2 stars and we won't be back, sadly. We've been going here about once a week! The service is always awesome and all the staff has been super nice. We come here a lot for the "Late Night Specials". The $5 Burger Baskets or the $0.50 tacos are a hit, and the food has always been great. The chicken tender platter is the best! You get a platter mounded with chicken tenders that are always perfect and a big serving of fries, too. Easily our favorite restaurant in the area. read more

So, this is a place that exemplifies how management can treat long-time customers, all based on a what a server in her 20's thinks harassment is (yep, a very relevant topic). Approximately one year ago as a somewhat regular customer (have been coming in for years) a server became friendly with me, using my name, and started asking to have me sit with her, or chat with me when not working. This person was in her early 20's, and I'm in my 60's. One night this server (Her name was Natalie) came up to me as I was sitting at the bar. We acknowledged each other, and I commented how it appeared her outfit did not have underwear, and made no negative references. I said nothing else. She was patronizing toward me, telling me I could not say things like that. I told her I could say what I wanted, and meant no disrespect. She told the manager, and I was asked to leave. Recently, (almost one year later) I returned to just get a beer, and before I could order, the manager on the floor told me the servers were not comfortable with me, and that they would not serve me. I am not someone who gets loud or inappropriate, nor do I say things that are anywhere close to harassment. You can ask any of the other servers or bartenders. This is clearly high school maturity, where the servers have gotten an earful from Natalie, apparently for drama sake. I will not return. Better to eat and do business with people who are not children, thinking they can play god with their customers. read more

It used to be a reliable place to eat in Kalamazoo (and we have eaten here so many times) but unfortunately they have gone down hill the past year. Just ordered takeout and my Ranch Fritter wrap was mostly tortilla. Literally folded over itself with tortilla lol. It had about half of the ingredients as before. Really disappointed. It seems that no matter how many times I go here, they never fail to mess up my order. Every single time. They don't make the sandwich I get properly and it ends up missing ingredients. My sides are always wrong. My order is just a regular menu item and no special instructions. I asked for a side of ranch once and they ended up putting it all over my food and substituted it for the actual sauces that go on it. I kept trying to go back to get the same food but each time they find a new way to make an error. The staff is nice but one of the female managers is rude. It was simple...we ordered appetizers before others but ended up watching tables get their full meals before us. I was to the Gull Road location a few weeks back and there were 5 of us, all ordered something different and nobody finished their meals. The waitress asked if everything was ok and we said it wasn't great and that she could take the half eaten plates away. Nobody offered an apology or even asked what was wrong. We were not looking for handouts, we paid and cut our losses. Last Thursday, I was at the west main location and ordered a margarita which was made with the absolute cheapest mix and tequila I've ever tasted and when I sent the entire drink back, nothing was said and we were charged for the disgusting drink anyway. I think that Main St. Pub epitomizes itself in it's name. It is the "main street pub" and therefore, generic, convenient, unobtrusive etc... Main Street doesn't wow me, but it certainly isn't too bad either. It's the kind of place that's always about fourth or fifth for me on the list (but that means I consistently get there at least once every few months.) I'll say this for Main Street Pub: they have a large menu and reasonable prices. If you want to feed a family, it might be worth your while. If you're looking for a night out without breaking the budget, head on it. But all that being said, my guess is that if you're on Yelp, you're looking for something interesting, and I don't think this is it. And a disclaimer about their large menu: much of what's on it uses cheap ingredients or a mix of similar ingredients to other dishes. Don't be fooled; there are a few standouts on the menu, but a lot of it is passable. I'd advise getting a recommendation from your server on what's above average. read more

Just ordered takeout from here and was not disappointed! Today is Mother's Day and tomorrow is my birthday, so I was looking for some good eats and nothing in my town is open Sunday. Today they are running a prime rib special with salmon, green beans, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, salad, roll, and strawberry shortcake - all for $20 a plate! Y'all this was seriously so much food! There are lots of salad dressing options to choose from, and you can order your salmon plain or with pineapple salsa. I highly recommend the salsa. It sits upon a bourbon glaze and has a little jalapeño for some added spice. The flavors went perfectly with the salmon, which was cooked properly, flaky but not dry and no skin on. The mashed potatoes are horseradish, a perfect pair with prime rib. It was a pleasant surprise and I wish more places make their potatoes that way! My only gripe is that the fish and prime rib are packaged together which makes your beef taste a little fishy. It is takeout though, so it's understandable, but would have been a better idea to separate the fish. Thank you for being open on Mother's Day when so many other places were closed! read more
