This is my brothers favorite Irish pub in Kalamazoo. It's not far from his house and he frequents it on the regular. I am in town we always have to come here and get a pint. Do you know what kind of me. This has a really chilled and cozy feel. My brother knows a lot of the staff members and they are super friendly with everybody. This definitely has a local and neighborhood bar feel. It seem like everybody was a regular and came often. We never ate here, we always just drink, it was that kind of place. read more

Was first there for a private event. Delightful! Really nice outdoor beer garden. Returned a few months later. Good place to converse because there's no TV or music. Though a *little* music or other background sounds would have been nice so it wasn't so easy to overhear others' private conversations. A bit of a hangout for alumni of Kalamazoo's one Catholic high school: An alum owns and operates it. Given that the school's teams are the "fighting Irish", makes sense that an Irish pub would be their place. read more

O'Duffy's is a wonderful hidden gem that in located in the vine neighborhood. They have a very tiny parking lot, otherwise you can park right on the street. They have a small patio out front, and about 10 tables inside along with a nice size beautiful wooden bar. The cocktail menu they have is creative, and fresh. They also make their own tonic water which is delicious. I also highly recommend the Topolo Margarita, yumm! Last night I tried their sangria, which to me was very watery and not much wine flavor. I am not sure I will try this one again. We also tried the Goat Cheese Fritter appetizer. It was delicious, served with marinated kumquats and a half of loaf of warm crusty french bread. The downfall last night was that there was only 1 server for the all of the tables. It took a good 10 mins for her to cover over to us and another 10-15 minutes to get a drink. I would have been nice if one of the 2 bartenders behind the bar could have helped delivery drinks etc. They have a fun Irish duo singing and playing guitar. Went to dinner at O'Duffy's last night before the community Reading Together event at Chenery. It was nice to be able to park, and walk to both places. We sat at O'Duffy's but ordered from the Cosmo's menu. Draft beer variety was nice. Food was incredible! The wild mushroom and winter squash lasagna, bread with roasted garlic, garlic mashed potatoes, and penne with vodka sauce were all delicious. Nothing I could have changed to make th any better. Portions were large, so the prices felt worth it. To top it all off, they have to go boxes that aren't styrofoam! Yay! read more

O'Duffy's is a neighborhood place with a walk-in vibe. During Covid, they've converted their parking lot into seated serving areas, so you have a choice: you can remain inside at their marvelous bar, with full length mirror and old oak plank flooring (just like you'd find at a pub in Eire!) or sit at a table or picnic bench outside. We opted for a bench--painted in the Irish tri-color--for drinks and a meal. Our server was friendly and handled our series of orders with aplomb. The drinks are reasonably priced and the appetizers delicious: I tried the fried green tomatoes, which came with pesto, mozzarella cheese, greens, and a balsamic reduction...YUM! You can fit your hunger to a flexibly sized menu, dial it down to nachos or a hot dog, or dial it up to a filling pasta dish or duck with all the trimmings. If you like O'Duffy's as much as we do, you'll soon be a regular too. Plus: live music some evenings. Minus: parking can be tough. read more

I've always liked O'Duffy's and after all these years it is still a favorite of mine. I like the atmosphere, the building with the exposed brick walls, the small patio outside, the peanuts, and the beautiful bar. It hasn't changed much and that's all right by me. We stopped by last night to listen to a jazz band. The music was good and so was the food & drinks. I had the gorgonzola burger, which had a nice peppercorn dressing on it, and D had the Chicago dog. Interesting that they offer carrot sticks or chips with their sandwiches.. Our server was very nice and kept an eye on us The parking can sometimes be a little tough, but we lucked out and snagged a spot in their small lot. I met a friend here for a quick dinner last night. This is a little pub off the beaten path near downtown Kalamazoo. I often forget that it is hiding out in the Vine Neighborhood over there. This is such a cool old building. Take a look around at all the craftsmanship. A table tent listed a few food items but we were also offered menus from Cosmo's upstairs. My friend and I both had the Chicago Dog and we both enjoyed them. I also tried the Vegetable Beef soup. It was full of vegetables and had a nice smoky flavor. This was one heck a a find. I had no idea what a great little niche this place was. Erika and I decided to go here on a whim when we heard that there was going to be live music. We struck off knowing little about O'Duffy's, which ended up being a wonderful experience because of the surprises that met us upon entering. We were greeted by a Bernese Mountain Dog that must have weighed at least a hundred and fifty pounds. As is often the case with big dogs, he was incredibly friendly and calmly strolled the bar at his own leisure. The staff greeted us equally warmly. But what really swept us off our feet, was the incredible vibe. O'Duffy's feels like a mix between a hole in the wall dive, a cozy tavern, and a modern gastropub all the same time. The bar is old-fashioned wood and gold, yet the tables are cafe style, offering whichever experience you desire. Erika and I grabbed a table and began to peruse the menu. The O'Duffy's menu is fairly limited, offering a selection of around six different burgers, and a few other specialties. All in all, it's a tiny menu; however, the upstairs, Cosmo's (which is owned and operated by the same company), offers a much wider Italian fare. You can order and eat their food, all while remaining seated at O'Duffy's; just ask for a menu. With all that said, the Vienna Sausage Chicago Style hot dogs that Erika and I ordered were very satisfying. They're made in classic fashion, with both relish and whole pickle slices, and a sesame seed bun. It's a satisfying portion and really did feel authentic. I'd gladly have it again. I'm a sucker for a good dog. The live music was exceptional, and the jazzy background music fit the hip locale well. Surprisingly, Erika and I recognized a former classmate from our college days playing with the band, so clearly the look for local artists. I really can't wait to go back and sample the larger menu of Cosmo's, while still enjoying the old-school, wood-and-brick comfort of O'Duffy's. Unfortunately, I do wish that the servers had made us aware of the fact that we could order food from upstairs, since we did not know this. I don't think it would hurt for them to ask all patrons "is this your first time here" so they can explain the menu situation. But bygones are bygones. We can't wait to go again. read more

We were there around 4 in the afternoon on a game night (WMU's football stadium is walking distance). O'Duffy's is a cozy bar tucked into a residential neighborhood. It boasts my dream aesthetic--exposed brick, twinkle lights, intimate seating, antique-looking bar--like a pub you'd find in downtown New York. (It's a beautiful place, but unfortunately it was too dark for me to take decent photos.) The customer scene isn't a throng of college students, but older couples and a few college-aged people. Aesthetically, O'Duffy's earns five stars. Service wise, O'Duffy's is a three. As a new visitor, I would have liked our server to inform of us a few unique features. I saw other diners eating shelled peanuts and wondered, where are they getting the peanuts from? Are they free? Then, we asked our server for a drink and food menu and she appeared flustered. She listed a few beers on tap and pointed to a hard-to-read list of specials on the wall. For food, we ordered Chicago dogs from the small menu that sat on every table, but we later noticed that other diners were eating things not on the menu. So we asked how guests were eating food not advertised on the menu. "Oh," she said, "You can order from the Cosmo's menu. It's a different restaurant upstairs but operated by the same company." That would have been helpful to know. At a place like this, it is CRUCIAL to ask guests if they are new visitors, and if they are, to explain their options. Had our server informed us of the dual menu, the peanuts, and the drink list, I would give this place five stars. The hot dogs were good, but the chips served with them were stale. Overall, I enjoyed my time here, especially because of the jazzy live music. I would come here again for a relaxing evening. read more

The food is really good but overpriced, especially the Boxty which should be Irish potato pancakes but instead is a scoop of mashed potatoes with a mushroom and cherry ragout for $10. I love O'Duffys. The atmosphere is unbeatble for a late night drink. If you have a special someone take them here before or after dinner. They have a nice selection of Irish beers and are the best pourer's of Guinness in town. Try whatever beer they have on cask if you go. Also the Raspberry Lambic is a brew that all the ladies enjoy. They pour the Guinness expertly. The pub grub is excellent, but everything here is a little expensive. Went back last week because my boyfriend was craving their spinach and feta burger (which is weird because he's a major carnivore) The burger usually comes with some fruit on the side but being the guy he is, he asked to add a side of fries instead. The bartender politely said he couldn't. I thought she must have misunderstood his question so I reworded his request which she once again responded no to. She then explained that fries only come with their Kobe beef burger and ONLY their Kobe beef burger because their fryer was too small to accommodate anything more. While I kind of understand their reasoning, most places I know that have the same issue will offer chips instead of fries, or maybe even pasta salad, but rarely are you not given any options. I just don't know how an establishment can deny a customer that is willing to pay extra for some fries with their burger. Since my boyfriend didn't really want to make a big fuss about it (but I did) he settled for the fruit and we left probably never to return. read more

Very popular for Friday happy hour with the older crowd 60+. We went on Saturday 5:00 ish. It was dead. Drinks are delicious but, small and pricey, probably the smallest pour of white wine I ever had. They pour into a small carafe first, she didn't fill to the neck. Can you tell I hate a short pour, haha, who doesn't? The burgers are very good, so is the rest of the food for that matter. Atmosphere is fun, little loud. Very nice staff. Well a Burger in a Pub is standard fare usually but a burger at O'Duffy's with Kobe meat is phenomenal. Tried as a Mushroom with Swiss, I can't remember a better burger served on an small bun which seemed better than most. The burger was perfectly cooked medium and the side of mashed potatoes was probably more calories than I could handle. Served with carrot sticks I felt the side was needed but whoa it definitely was not at all. The apple crisp for my companion was only so so but she felt it should've had vanilla ice cream (biased opinion). I saw it as huge and quite uniquely put together with pomegranate seeds and perfectly spiced. Service was OK but she was more worried her sidework than us. Try the Guinness beer poured perfectly. read more

I really think I would love this place if not for the waitstaff. Having recently moved from Chicago for grad school, I was so happy to find a cute neighborhood pub with a decent selection of beer and what seemed to be a good crowd. I've come here 3 times now---each time more disappointed than the first by the female waitress who ignores tables and rolls her eyes when you ask for a drink.
