This was our first stop into Vickers! We had a very nice meal with good service!! They were having a live band that evening, which we did not realize until it was time, but it was a nice surprise! We stopped in on an early spring day - everyone is craving the sunshine by the time winter finally breaks in Michigan! We sat in the sunroom area which is SO nice and light, but also insulated enough to stay cozy when it's not quite warm outside just yet!! We sat at a table that was to be very affected by the live band about to come in and set up. No one let us know about this, even though the waitress came and took our order prior - it would have been nice to know ahead of time as we definitely would have chosen a different spot, but we were able to pick up and move ourselves to another table when we realized what was happening! The live music is super fun, but is very loud - just something to be aware of if you don't love that sort of thing - maybe choose a seat inside the main part of the restaurant, if desiring to avoid!! :) Our order was placed behind a very large table. Due to this we had to wait over 30 mins for our 2 person order. Not overly surprising but something to keep in mind - the kitchen is not equipped to keep up with the rest of the rest of the restaurant if working on one large party order! Bonus: the atmosphere was really nice for a long wait! :) Vickers has a nice sized menu with a lot of variety!! We ordered nachos and a chicken sandwich. They have a several choices for sides - this is something I very much appreciate as I don't always want fries or chips with a sandwich! The option to upgrade is a big deal!! I upgraded to a side salad which was a great size and a good amount of toppings to make it very delicious! We will be back to Vickers! A nice, local spot inside of a cute, cozy town!! :) read more

Came in to celebrate my birthday with the family. Had an amazing experience. We sat out on the deck that looks across the lake. Our service was nothing short of fantastic our drinks were out fast and my daughter's kids pizza was brought out first. (Something that some restaurants/servers do not think about and I appreciated this SO MUCH!) Went here for lunch with my parents for Mother's Day celebration. What a great atmosphere. It was a beautiful day and the patio was filled. The lake was very nice to see. Excellent food. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and an Oberon. Both were delicious. The price was very reasonable too. Definitely interested in returning. read more

Ordered steak rare, brought out burnt steak with wilted lettuce on the side. Inside was leather and well done. Tried to grab the waitress and even she agreed that it was cooked incorrectly. She brought it back to the kitchen where then the "manager" I'm not sure who he was he didn't introduce himself or anything. A man brought out the SAME PLATE. And proceeded to argue about what the temp was and that it was definitely rare. Super unprofessional and would not recommend to go here. we've had great perch at the Hideaway so went there last Friday. They were packed and no seats available so we thought we'd try Vickers. I got the Cod & husband got the Grouper. We should have stayed home. When the bought it to the table I was shocked, as it looked exactly like the Mrs. Paul's Fish my Mom used to buy and put in the oven and it was way over cooked. My husband's grouper was even worse. They finger length round things with no recognizable fish in it. I wasn't able to complain as it would embarrass my husband. I went to this establishment hoping it would be a cool sort of local hang your hat, say hey to some folks, get a beer, good food, etc. While there were locals and the 20+ people there were having a casual evening (it was an off night and cold) I sat at the bar. The waitress was happy, bubbly and so kind. She came right up and asked if I needed anything. I ordered fish and chips, thrilled they were on the menu. I ordered Jameson neat as well. (Settle down, women like whiskey, too ). After 30 minutes I don't have any food but plenty of great conversation with the gentleman next to me and the bartender. She brought me my food. It was 3 frozen fish fillets out of a box, totally processed think Gordon's and a small portion of floppy fries. The description for this was "3 beer battered cod fish fillet". Uh. N'yope. I just looked at it and smiled at the bartender. I've worked in service. I hate being put in the position of serving terrible food but having to pretend it isn't. It's unfair to the staff because they take the guff from the customers. So I smiled and said "I realized I wasn't hungry any more and could she send it back?" $14 for this?? I couldn't even. I told her politely and humorously how I felt. I didn't want her feeling bad for the choices the management was taking. There are so many better places to go. read more

The prime rib was ordered. It came with an au jus sauce. This sauce had a horrid smell. It was hardcore rancid. Besides this sauce, the meat was grey. The slaw was sour tasting. The owner eventually showed his face claiming they made the sauce yesterday. This place has serious quality control issues. Our waitress took a good 30 minutes to take our order. After our food arrived, she disappeared altogether. She made excuse after excuse saying sorry she was just so busy. There was only one other table in the restaurant which she was not responsible for. Really nice place for a small town. My margarita was just okay but not bad. The service was great, people are friendly. We ordered a burger to go for our son and he loved it so much that he has plans to go with his buddies next week. We ordered the barbecue pork nachos they had too much sauce on them, the pork was good but the sauce was too sweet for our liking. Over all, we will go back for sure. read more

Management makes the difference! We have visited this establishment, several times. EVERY time, a management representative has always made contact with us. To greet us, check on the status of our dining experience-several times. They sometimes have live music, which adds to the ambience. Note: normally it is low key atmosphere. But this place is a favorite stop, for motorcycle clubs/groups, on occasion. This occurred on Sunday 4/18/2021; I would guess there were at least ONE HUNDRED cyclists. Nope.... just nope. Ordered 2 burgers to go, both medium... both were hockey puck hard and dry, but the outside of the bun was slick and shiny with grease. Chips were kettle chips but also had the strange grease taste.... I don't need or want a response to this, because we wont be back. Person who runs food out from kitchen should wear latex gloves too. If ya can't do a burger to the right temp, you can't cook, period. Burgers are 101. Sorry, I had hoped for better. read more

Um. Well. The drinks weren't bad. Nice beer selection. The food wasn't great, but not terrible either. Pretty standard bar food. Good, low key ambiance. Got kind of turned off by my husband and two other patrons seeing a mouse run across the floor behind the bar. I'm not sure I will ever be back. We went there a couple weeks ago and we went outside to eat. Plenty Waitress's walked by us for over 20 minutes but no one acknowledged us or gave us the time of day. It was bike night, but it wasn't overly crowded by any means (Lots of tables all around us) I realize and take in account for restaurants being understaffed during these times but this was not the case. We finally got up and walked inside and there was nobody hardly in there so we did sit down because we did not want to drive anywhere else. Within two minutes some one came over and took our order. We both ordered the tacos but there was very little meat or anything else on them. Overall not a good experience for us. I think I was more upset by being walked by so many times and being ignored. read more

Service was ok, but the waitress got most of the orders wrong. My wife had the smothered sizzler in which the steak was chewy, the potatoes were literally cold, and portion was ok. My macaroni with Buffalo chicken was good, but the portion size was made for a child with no sides offered. Another member of our party got a wrap and we all were amazed by how small it was, and sub par at best for taste. Well, not very busy and the waitresses were so busy serving their regulars that we had to go to the bar to get drinks after 20 minutes. Then after having to go to the bar tender after a half hour, we finally got an order in for our food. Then it came out cold and unimpressive. Came here to celebrate buying a new Jeep right down the road, so thought parking was kinda tight! haha! Standard American fare. I had the pulled pork combo, it was good. Mac-n-cheese in it's own little ramekin was the star. My companion had a single smash burger, it looked pretty good to me, she said it tasted like it had absorbed flavor of something else cooked on the grill. (?) Great service. Checked on us regularly. This is the fourth time my wife and I have eaten there and it will definitely be the last. I found a hair in my taco salad. The waitress did not check on us after serving our food. I had to walk up to the bar to get more drinks for us. A male employee walked past my wife and I as we were walking towards the door when we were finished and said, "Have a nice day fellas" The male employee just laughed off his mistake and walked away. My wife and I were humiliated. I approached the girl working behind the bar and asked about the male that made the comment and about the woman who was our waitress. Turns out the male is an owner of this establishment and the woman is one of the managers. It is sad that a restaurant with such a lovely view and nice staff is owned and managed by the two people that we encountered today. We will not be back. read more

I gave this place a try since it's local, but the food was mediocre at best. The prices are cheap enough, but I wasn't looking for cheap, I was looking for good tasting food. The waiter we had tried hard and he did his best, so kudos to him. I understand that a bar is going to have food bought from Gordon's, but this didn't even raise to that level. Their Grouper sandwich should not be even on the menu since it had zero taste and it's inside texture felt like mush.
