Craft beer at its finest. Dane Bosel brews terrific small batch beers with knowledge, care, and passion. I love the live music, trivia nights, and special events. This is my hometown pub and it feels like home every time I walk in. And if you don't have time to sit and enjoy cards and conversation, they've got growlers, too. Beer was just okay. Kind of one dimensional. The worst part, just hoards of screaming crying children. Since when did it become acceptable to bring your kids to a brewery. They don't serve food here, so it's NOT a family restaurant. We have had this issue the one other time we came.... Probably why it took 7 years to come back. read more

Vicksburg is a little town, in a little county, with little going on in IT. There are the standard little town attractions, from greasy spoon breakfast diners, to bars where you find the same people nearly every night. There is nothing noteworthy or exceptional about the town...yet... Every twenty minutes, in this little town, a big train whistles. A triangle of horn blows a continual soundtrack. They surround this little community with sound waves. A brew house sits amongst the average American fare. It's unassuming. Perhaps there's very little one might find special about its brews, but it belongs to the neighborhood first. The neighborhood, though little it be, has big heart. It can be found here and when their brews are at their best, their brewers will testify to just how much heart they put in it. Their seasonal beers bring literal tears to my eyes. I was pretty surprised to learn that little 'ol Vicksburg now has a brewery, so, of course while taking Ben around areas I grew up (family owns farm land here) we had to stop in. I sat there looking around and thinking about all the different businesses that were they before the small microbrewery, which just made me smile and brought back memories. They have a mug club which looks to be pretty successful already and the others in the brewery were regulars for sure by their conversations with the beertender. Funny how I felt like a tourist there, but I LOVE to see the changes that I always discover when I come home to visit for the local businesses and glad to see everything grow. I'm loving this place more and more with every visit. The beer is just top-notch: I typically order flights at places that offer them so I can try a variety of things, and that way if I wind up with something I don't like, I only have to drink five ounces of it. Every single thing that came in my flight on Monday, I immediately wished I had more of! I tried their new pina colada juicy IPA -- amazing! A berry sour that was one of the best I've had locally, another IPA, and a new porter (tier 2) that was epic! I can see how their mug club members have sold out despite them being in a super small town. Wishing I'd you're in on that. if you home brew, I highly recommend checking out their homebrew club, which meets at 7 pm on the first Monday of the month (they are closed on Mondays other than for these meetings). They have great speakers, you'll get to sample some great and some not so great beers from other local home brewers, and you'll do so at one of the best brew pubs around. I wish they had a kitchen, but they do offer free popcorn and have a few snacks for sale (including the totally amazeballs Ice Box brand ice cream bars). read more

Visited this establishment for the first time after living in the village for 2 years. The staff was friendly and helpful in choosing a craft beer. Samples are available as well as flights. This is a small brewer with only a few beers to choose from but the product is excellent! At present no food is served, except popcorn. But they don't mind if you bring in a snack, or even a pizza from Jaspare's across the street!! The bar is nice and open with plenty of tables but still room for people to stand and chat as well. The serving bar is made from recycled wood and is well done and homey! If you're a regular and join their beer "club" you can get a mug full! I will surly be back and recommend this place if your looking for something unique in small craft brewing and beer!! read more

We only learned of Distant Whistle from another microbrewery. It's out of the way for us tucked away in downtown Vicksburg. If we lived there we would surely be regulars. They don't serve food but as the owner said he doesn't care if you bring your own in. He mentioned several food establishments nearby that serve to go food. They do serve delicious fresh popped popcorn. We ordered a couple flights of beer and had to have a glass of what we liked after. For a small microbrew we were surprised at the quality and taste of so many of their beers. The owner was incredibly friendly and chatted with us about his business. They have a rotating selection of great beers. I'll be curious to return and see what they have as the seasons and available ingredients change. We are so happy to have learned of Distant Whistle and will be sure to return. If you are looking for a cool microbrewery to grab a pint of beer you should try Distant Whistle. read more

Good beer; worth a stop; get a flight plus one. The Porters & stouts have a roasted signature ; the pale ales & lagers are clean, crisp, tasty and well crafted! The IPA's offered ( a nice variety so far) are hopped-up but nicely balanced; with some great local hop usage! The holiday offerings were superb! My personal favorite of all the breweries in SouthWest Michigan. I am a big IPA fan and they usually have 1-3 on tap, Andy the owner/brewmaster does a great job. The other owner, Dane runs the front of the house and is always ready to engage in some fun conversation. There are no TVs here, it's about socializing with your friends or the friendly local regulars. There are also board games, a dart board, and foosball . They do not serve food but encourage you to bring food in from one of the local restaurants, several are a short walk away. There is also free popcorn available. If you are unfamiliar with Downtown Vicksburg, you can park behind the brewery if the spaces out front are full. read more

Our favorite brewery. They beer is great. I'm a porter/ stout girl but love their backpackers blonde. It's a coffee blonde and my go to when we are there. There are a number of browns, stouts and porters that rotate in. They excel in IPA's. There are always a number of them to choose from. There are always new people coming in and checking it out. The owners take a lot of pride in what they do. They do not serve food but you are welcome to get something at the local restaurants or bring something in with you. I love this place; the beer is awesome and the owners are hilarious. My favorite beer so far is the Backpackers Blonde, a coffee blonde ale. My fiancé loves the SMaSH, and any other IPA they roll out. The mugs the offer for mug club are locally handmade and each is unique, and they're getting food soon! I also think it's cool that they have a ton of board games to play. Can't wait to come back and try the new offerings, they change all the time! read more

Beer was excellent, I tried so many new types of beers and found a new favorite, Falcon Punch! I travelled all the way from metro Detroit and came in with my daughter and her fiance. You can't get beer like this anywhere else! They have games which is great and you can bring in your own food, but I talked to the Super nice owners who told me they will be adding a menu soon.
