There were a number of issues with our experience. We came for restaurant week and at 630 pm, they were already out of the elk special, which was the entire reason we came to this restaurant. The restaurant was not busy, so this surprised us. The drinks were watered down and missing garnishes described in the menu. We were also placed at a booth where the air was blowing so hard our napkins wouldn't stay on the table. If you enjoy high velocity wind while you dine, be sure to ask for the middle booth. My restaurant week scallop cakes were more like a tasting menu - the tiniest bites of "crab cake" that you could muster and still hold together while cooking. It would have been better if they made one big cake, but this was like getting 5 bites for what should have been two reasonably sized crab cakes. The gumbo was good but the chicken was dry/tough. I had the prime rib on a Fri. Dinner had baked potato& vegetable. Price was $35. Meat was very tough. You could hardly cut it. Maybe that's why you got a big steak I mentioned it to the waitress, she just smiled. I would not recommend ordering the prime rib plus charged 50 cents for sour cream. The staff are always very kind and welcoming to my family. We're not regulars, but never feel otherwise. The food is always great. It's elevated bar food. The prime rib on the weekends is awesome. The salads are very good. The chili is truly some of the best I've had, and I'm from Cincinnati (a chili town). Give these folks a try. I don't think you'll regret it. read more

Opportunity for improvements include much hotter food. Don't tell me the plate is hot if the food is not. I'm sure it was because all the onions, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. was added cold. Went here with family for one thing. Prime Rib. They have it here on Friday and Saturdays. The menu was good lots of sandwiches as well as all your meat selections, chicken, fish, pork and so on. So the waitress started with me, it was my birthday. I inquired about the prime rib price. $37 for the queen cut, I think 12 oz. I thought it was too much and told her I'd keep looking and do the rest of the table. When she got back to me I said. What the heck it's my birthday I'm worth $37. Glad I did. It was delicious. Cooked to perfection with a nice baked potato, and asparagus spears. Also au jus horseradish sauce and butter. The wife had Cob salad, daughter's had fish tacos and a burger, daughter's friend had some kind of Mexican. Everyone said their food was delicious and they'd return. Oh boy! We were in with a group of 10 the other night, and man, what a poor experience! The bartender was not able and/or willing to make drinks for some of our crew and said that she didn't have the material to make them...weird...its a full service bar. The food was delivered to the table hit and miss to everyone, so eating together was out of the question. Mind you; we were there during off-hours in the later part of the evening, so they weren't busy. Eventually I had enough and wanted to speak to the manager but of course he was nowhere to be found so I made my way to the kitchen and found the whole staff...bartender, waitstaff and manager all in a circle, joking around. I asked for a conversation, and I aired my concerns. Most of my crew said they wouldn't be back but I like this place and really want to give them another chance. I'm at the age where loud atmospheres aren't my dining style on a Saturday for lunch. This place is hella loud. We were seated right away. We prefer not to scan for menus and look at a paper menu. So it took the waitress a while to bring one. Drinks came it great. Mine leaked all over the table, as there was a hole in the glass. It took most of the table being soaked before we could get someone over to help us. Placed our order at that time. Appetizer and meals. The waitress never came back. 45 minutes later, she said she forgot to put the food order in. Food arrived quickly after that. The food more than made up for the service. Burger and fries-added Swiss and bacon. So good! Pretzels with cheese dip-amazing Club sandwich and fries-fresh cut turkey, like Thanksgiving leftovers with ham and bacon. Not handicap and/or elderly friendly. Went to eat a nice Easter Brunch. We ended up leaving after being seated. The host mentioned something about 1 hour when we were taken to our booth and that there are many reservations. On their website I did not see a reservation portal so I assumed it was not needed. But reserved guests were able to sit next to the buffet. Wish I had known. Being older, hard of hearing and handicapped I thought he said we had to wait an hour to get the brunch buffet. Which I assumed meant reservations get to go first since they had seating in the buffet room. So I confirmed this with our waitress since I do not hear things clearly sometimes. She stated no it meant we only have one hour at our table to eat and leave and larger tables have a hour and a half. I explained my husband has eating difficulties that could take him a little longer to eat. She said those are the rules and she has to bide by them. After sitting there 15 minutes I could see the line to the Easter buffet was continuing to be very long and I knew with my handicap I would not be able to stand in line for the length of time it was taking people to go through the buffet. Which I calculated we had already lost 15 minutes and if we stood in line for the approximate same length of time there would only be less than half an hour for us to eat which would be difficult for my husband. Let alone possibly going back for seconds like my husband always does. Since the waitress let us know the rules are the rules we felt very uncomfortable there because we knew due to our handicaps we could not meet their request. So I paid for my tea and we left. Unfortunately we will never return to this restaurant and bar. It is very sad that a restaurant cannot accommodate handicap or elderly. read more

I went here after going to the Trophy Room first. The menus are the same as far as I can tell, and the vibe is similar, although Corner Bar is in a strip mall rather than an older looking standalone building like Trophy Room is. Good service. Quickly seated, server came pretty quickly despite the restaurant being pretty crowded. I had Louie's Prime Dip, which is a sandwich with shaved prime rib and melted swiss cheese, with roasted red peppers and au jus (it also comes with carmelized onions but I held them off, I'm not a fan). The sandwich was very good as well as reasonably priced. Ate it with fries and iced tea. I'm definitely coming back here and/or Trophy Room. Even though the menu is pretty much bar bites, everything I've ever had here was good, I like the prices, and the service is always good. Recommend, even if you're on a diet (they have salads.). We went to Louie's for lunch and arrived when they opened at 11 am. We had our 2 year old grandson with us so wanted to have a fairly quick lunch before he got restless. We ordered some apps and 2 pizzas and after 45 min our server came to say the pizzas would be a few more minutes (we had already received the apps). 15 minutes later she returned to say they were having an issue with their pizza oven and wouldn't be able to make the pizzas and asked if we'd like to order something else. By that time we had been there over an hour. My husbands Diet Coke was never refilled and we said we would just take the check. The server said not to worry they wouldn't charge us for the pizzas! After an hour and 15 minutes with a toddler and no soft drink refills the offer was to not charge for the food they never brought? I can't fathom not at least offering to comp the appetizers for our inconvenience. Our server was terrible and the lack of understanding of our patience and doing anything to offer an apology is beyond rude. Chalk it up to another Kalamazoo restaurant that used to be decent and now has terrible service and poor management . read more

Met some friends for dinner. Seated about 630 in the back area. Was told there was a band playing at 8. 3 times I believe it was a manager came to our table and said hey we have a concert at 8 so if your going to be here later then that we will need a $5 cash cover from each of you. First of all we did not ask to be seated in the back and secondly we felt very rushed to order, eat, and leave. While the food was amazing we felt it was not necessary to come to our table 3 times to remind us to be out by 8 or pay the cover. Yes we would have probably been out before 8pm anyways but it put a damper on dinner for sure. read more

We had takeout from the new louie's Corner Bar the other night and it was absolutely amazing. Knowing all that had been bragged about with pickle pizza I knew I had to try the Cubano - my taste buds were rewarded with an amazing taste. The dill sauce was just the right proportion so it made the flavors pop without overpowering all the other amazing ingredients. I snuck a small slice of my kids Nuge pizza and oh my goodness the flavor was amazing - I thought it would just be another meat lovers pizza, but the meat was generous and the sauce had just enough kick to it you knew it wasn't from a can. I'm torn on what I'll try next time. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Looking forward to see what it looks like inside as I'm sure the atmosphere will be amazing. My wife and I went to this restaurant, not many people. Sat right down, waitress was super nice Anastasia. The pretzels were good. We got a pizza.I took a bite out of my third piece and bit down on a red metal and plastic bread tie. It grossed me out. We ask to speak to a manager. We were expecting something much different based on the Louie's downtown. This must be owned by a different Louie?? First off, We sat outdoors... lots of insects flying around. I know it's Michigan in the summer, but get some citronella. This may be irrelevant, I suppose, but I will tell you anyway... Some monster must've squirted ketchup all over their French fries because the overpowering smell of vinegar kept wafting into my safety bubble. My nachos had what appeared to be ( and tasted like ) cheese whiz all over it... it legit looked like it had been squeezed out of a can. The taco meat was interesting. Maybe they have an aunt that works at an elementary school, or the department of corrections? Pretty gross, but at least the salt from the chips drowned out everything else! Visited on July 3 2021. There were a few tables occupied inside the restaurant and a few occupied on the patio. Was immediately off put by the sour attitude and personality of our waitress Desiree. I hesitate to say this because I know that waitstaff can be overworked and stressed out during this pandemic. For crying out loud, if you are having a such a bad day that you are unable to answer any questions about the menu, maybe you should stay home. Not only that, but I swear she asked approximately every minute if we wanted drinks and food...after being asked several times please give us a FEW minutes, we were looking at the menu. The place was NOT busy. I felt so uncomfortable I decided not to dine in and got our food to go. That being said, the food was absolutely delicious. We got the nachos made with pork rinds instead of chips. Seriously, they were phenomenal. The bartender was a sweet gal who had no trouble directing me to the restroom. So I'm torn when writing my review. We were told it would be 1hr 45 min wait for takeout but it was actually like 2 1/2hr wait. I get it though, it's COVID time, but still a bummer especially when we were feeding out of town guests. The food was cold by the time it got home but we reheated. I felt the amount of substance on the classic Reuben and the California Reuben and the fries was lacking versus the price. The chicken wings and crackling rinds were awesome. My favorite part was the spicy smoked Gouda crab dip with the pita chips! We will try this place again sometime and hopefully things will go more smoothly but they do have good food options. read more
