I love this place! I was in town for the evening and needed to find a restaurant for supper. I had a long day, on a cold day (temps in the negative numbers) and it was late enough that this was the only place open. I was hesitant to venture in, mainly because I really didn't want 'bar food' for my last meal of the day. Imagine my surprise to find that they had a full menu to choose from! I was elated. I was greeted warmly and told I could sit anywhere I wanted. After working so long, I just wanted a quiet place to enjoy my meal. The pub area was nicely laid out and I saw various groups seated throughout. I also noticed a side room that was out and away from the pub area, and it seemed to be quieter in there. I sat at a booth and was immediately greeted again by the same server as when I first walked in the door, Hannah F. She took my drink order, "Hot tea, please", and left me to peruse the extensive menu. When she returned, I had a few selections picked out. after some discussion, I settled on the Beef Stroganoff with a side cup of chili. The chili came out in record time and since I hadn't eaten anything pretty much all day, the chili disappeared rather quickly. Soon, the main course arrived, and while I tried to back off on my appetite cravings, soon the stroganoff platter was clean as a whistle. While seated in the side dining room, I noticed a couple families dining in the same area. Also, out in the pub, the various patrons were really enjoying their visit time together. The whole atmosphere was upscale, family friendly, and very pleasant indeed. Hanna F. provided excellent service, and the other servers stayed pretty busy, as well. We really enjoy going to Main Street (especially Sunday and Monday when kids eat free)! Our food is always good and comes out rather quickly. You can count on seeing a ton of friendly faces from Mattawan schools so plan on talking to someone you know! Tonight we got salads. I had the shrimp avocado salad which had a decent amount of shrimp on it and the dressing had a nice bite to it! My husband had the avocado Cobb salad and it had a lot of bacon and avocado! The kids love their chicken fingers, I had to tell them to go light on the fries because usually their fry portions are huge! To the east of Chinn Chinn in the same building, Main Street has three sections: a dining room with booths and tables (for groups up to 10), a room set aside for very large groups (greater than 10), and a bar with numerous TVs lined up high on the walls. This last is the largest of the three rooms. There is sufficient separation that bar noise doesn't seem to filter much into the other two rooms. Five of us, all from the same work setting, and a couple of partners (including my girl) met tonight for our annual holiday meal. We had not called beforehand with a reservation, but the staff put together a couple of tables for us without complaint. We were struck by how crazily huge the menu was. That is usually a giveaway that the bulk of what the kitchen puts out will be at best middle of the road, with few winners. And after we ate, that was the consensus of the group: that there were no disasters among the seven meals ordered, but there were also no outright screaming winners. Among the things ordered tonight were a Reuben Sandwich, an open faced Tuna Melt, Grilled Salmon with rice pilaf and green beans, a Chicken Ranch Melt ("a grilled chicken breast topped with house made Ranch dressing, bacon, Monterey Jack cheese...on a toasted sourdough"), a Patty Melt ("topped with sautéed onions and Swiss cheese then sandwiched between two pieces of toasted pumpernickel"), and something called "The Bronco Burger" ("topped with BBQ sauce, crisp bacon, melted Cheddar cheese and finished with haystack onions"). We had several orders of Onion Rings as appetizers. Of those, only the Chicken Ranch Melt, the fries that accompanied several of the sandwiches, and the White Chicken Chili (which came with the Grilled Salmon dinner) got thumbs up. The remainder of the food (with maybe two exceptions, see below) was deemed as inoffensively bland and forgettable. My girl thought the onion rings, covered in an industrial coating of cornmeal and flour, were the most repulsive. I thought the supposedly home made Ranch dressing that accompanied the onion rings was an affront to ranches everywhere. Good Ranch dressing should have overtones of garlic paste, parsley, dill, chives, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, vinegar, paprika, cayenne, buttermilk, and the hot sauce of your choice (optional). Main Street's had none of this. Good Ranch dressing should convey a tang or a gentle bite. This was just a pearly white combo of toothless mayonnaise and sour cream and no more. Service was perfectly acceptable. Our server, Alyssa, took good care of us. We ordered no alcohol so I cannot judge how well the bartender makes a drink. In summary, it's a bar that makes and sends out bar food. Sometimes you might want to go to a bar to drink and eat anonymous food because the wait at the nearby Asian Fusion restaurant is too long. Maybe you want to watch from a dozen TV screens without being able to understand the content of any of them. Maybe the very phrase "Asian Fusion" is just too provocative relative to the food you stuff in your cheeks. Maybe you own a truck. In any of those cases, go the Main Street, order the Chicken Ranch Melt with fries, and get a bowl of the deliciously piquant White Chicken Chili. read more

The fries did it. So we were out looking for a nice place to eat out, so the three of us- my sister, my niece, and myself- decided to come by an old standby- Main St. Pub- and see what dinner might bring us. So we rolled on in and decided to take our chances. Coming into this place, the first thing you can tell is that it's pretty clean, and that it's pretty popular, too. There were many full tables! The server brought us a kids menu for my niece and some crayons, and let us go ahead and choose what we wanted. Two of us went with our usual stand-bys: my niece with the macaroni and cheese and french fries, and me with my usual go-to at any restaurant I've never been in- a cheeseburger (in this case, a Pub Burger with cheese, lettuce, pickle and tomato). My sister opted for the Pesto Chicken Club- also with fries. Honestly, we don't know what they sprinkle on the fries here- it's something that adds a little zing to them, it goes really well with ketchup, and it just makes you want to eat more of them. All three of us really liked the fries. Honestly? I'm thinking Main St. could just sell bottomless fries baskets and drinks. There's just something about them that makes me crave and want more of them. Our mains were, well... pretty good. My sister really liked her sandwich- she didn't have any complaints about it at all. My niece also ate all of her macaroni, and liked it very much, too. My cheeseburger was, well... I'd have to say it was okay. I mean, there were plenty of toppings on it, the pickle was good (even if it was only a pickle spear and not actually on the cheeseburger), but... I was really expecting a bit more out of the burger patty, the way they hyped it on the menu. "8 oz. fresh ground choice steak" ought to have more flavor than what it had, but... it'll fill you up nonetheless. Maybe next time I'll go for a sandwich or something else. We ended the meal with a brownie sundae that we all split, and there's not really much you can find fault with when it comes to hot fudge, whipped cream, ice cream and warm brownie. Honestly, in the end, though you can get a better burger elsewhere, this place is still worth a four to me. I ordered a Peach Sangria from the summer drink menu and the server came back and said they can't make it because they are out of one of the liquors. So they recommended the Blackberry Lemonade Fizz from the summer drink menu. I ordered that and she brought me a drink and said "They were out of blackberries so they used strawberries instead." My husband ordered a perch Reuben which was supposed to have perch, coleslaw, Swiss, and thousand island dressing. His sandwich was missing Swiss and thousand island. We were there on a Monday and kids are supposed to eat for free, but our son's meal was on the bill. We had to ask for it to be taken off. My son's meal was also supposed to come with a sundae and it didn't. Our group experience here was awful. Other than the food being decent, there was nothing good about this place. Our server either was new or just awful. She messed up multiple things, didn't bring us drinks that we asked for at all, and was slow and confused. She messed up my friend's drink order, brought him a new one, and it was exactly the same as the one she had messed up. The manager came to our table multiple times to ask us how our drinks were, how our food was, and once to just chat. It was very overwhelming and out of place. I don't like writing reviews, but my recent experience caused me to think this is necessary. Friday March 3, 2023 I placed a takeout order online at 5:05pm with a requested pickup time of 6:15pm. I arrived at 6:10pm and found the restaurant packed. After waiting almost ten minutes to get someone to check on my order I was told it wasn't ready. So I waited for another then minutes before I asked a manager about my order. He said, "Well we're busy." I replied, "yes I can see that, but I ordered this over an hour ago." And he said, "well, we're packed." I replied, "maybe I won't do this again." He replied, "okay." No apology, just irritation. I've been a pretty regular customer, but this really soured me on this restaurant. Hopefully someone will address this attitude by your staff. Burnt pickle fries Oily, burned marinara sauce 2 burgers that didn't even have cheese on them. One of them so raw it was bloody and we asked for med/well. A popular spot in Mattawan. The restaurant has too sides - the bar and the dining room. Both are fairly large and you see a lot of families in there. We always sit in the bar area. The menu is extensive. This past Thursday, we met there for a dinner. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful. He had a sense of humor, knowledgeable, observant, and just a super nice guy. Thursday night is their Turkey Special for $9.99. You can't beat the price for a complete turkey dinner with mash potatoes, stuffing, vegetable, and bread. D was stuffed by the time he finished his large portion plate. If I am hungry, which I was, I always order their meatloaf at $10.99. First of all, even though it is butt of jokes, meatloaf is one of my favorite comfort foods. Main Street does a fair job with their meat loaf. The dinner comes with 3 slices, covered in gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetable (corn was the veggie of the day), and 2 slices of Texas toast. I ate what I could and had a wonderful lunch the next day with the leftovers. The restaurant now has handheld devices so the waiter can take your card right at the table. Main St use to be my go to bar in Kalamazoo. I decided to try the one that's in Mattawan. I was disappointed in the service and food. Out of three visits, I've only had one good experience with service. I love trying every restaurant's burgers, and everytime I ordered the burger it was overcooked and not to the specification I had asked for (medium). My girlfriend ordered other various dishes, she didn't get one thing that she thoroughly enjoyed. I don't know if its management or that ive become more picky over the years . 3 WINGS.... 3 MEASLY WINGS.... Was what we got when we ordered the 'Pick Any 2' combo with fried pickles. To add insult to injury, these were three of the tiniest, saddest looking wings you've ever seen. I've seen pigeons with bigger limbs than this. Plus, the wings inexplicably came without any buffalo sauce on them which made them look like pale and corpse-like. To wash down this feast I ordered a "pint of Guinness" (exact words). What arrived was a glass of Guinness (in the true Irish sense of the word) which meant exactly 8oz. It was like drinking beer out of a juice cup....for $5. The only thing keeping this review at two stars instead of one is that the fried pickles were excellent. I've been about 3 times and I usually get a different burger, and each time the burger and fries are excellent. My friend ordered a country fried steak and it looked like exactly like what you'd expect, but the proportions were generous. I haven't been too adventurous with my eating, but their burgers are very good every single time - but I would highly recommend not filling up and getting. their. dessert. Seriously, I am never impressed by desserts from restaurants, as most of them are usually some basic reheated lava cake or basic chocolate chip cookie with a scoup of deans ice-cream usually - but their desserts are amazing. Their selection changes which can sometimes be disappointing, but they had an Irish chocolate cheesecake of the likes I have never had at a restaurant, especially a chain restaurant. My family, friends, teammates, cast mates, and I have all been coming here for years. I haven't been back in over a year since I'm no longer living in Southwest Michigan, so maybe things have changed, but it was usually a place for celebrations such as opening night after-party, graduating from high school, winning a sports match, someone's birthday, etc. It must be because they have a nice little room cut-off from the main seating for big groups like that. And onto the food! Everything I've ever had here satisfied me and left me with no complaints. They've got 10 different salads including a decadent Spinach, Chicken & Apple Salad, 12 different wraps including my all-time favorite Ranch Fritter Wrap "Buffalo Style", 29 different appetizers including their Pub Nachos Supreme (which let me be honest...you [and a friend] don't really need an entree after eating this. Yeah, it's freakin' huge!), 12 different burgers (which can always be substituted with a chicken burger if you'd like) including their Cabo Beach Burger which is topped with mouthwatering bacon, avocado, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle ranch (Argh! Now I want one so bad. Menu featured a dozen or so different burgers, but they used mediocre at best frozen burger patties, so we were overall less than impressed by the burgers. The clam strips were pretty good, and I like their fries though, so I guess the food is hit or miss. Our waiter was terrible though. We were not offered or brought drink refills except one time when we asked for refills, despite having mostly finished our drinks by the time he took our food order. He also took forever to take our drink order or even approach our table, and even longer to come back for our food order. Then he charged us to upgrade the dessert that was supposed to be free with the kids meal, despite us only asking for the free sundae. This place is close to home so we've been here plenty. First off the place is big and seating is always readily available. The inside has been remodeled in the last few years and is very nice. Two seating areas: bar area with lots of TVs, mostly high top tables with some booths, also a partitioned off dining area as well.
