I called in a takeout order this evening. We have dined in many times with no problems. This is the first time we've done takeout. Ordered a full broasted chicken with 3 sides. A dish they are famous for with a 60 year old recipe. Very disappointed. The chicken was in a takeout box but was barely warm. Mac & cheese was very warm and the coleslaw was good. When I called they said 30 minutes. Since I live 15 minutes away I arrived at the 30 minute mark. States on their website "made to order". Not sure if the chicken was. I saw other take out orders in bags on a shelf but not under any heat lamps to keep the food warm. Just disappointed that the chicken was barely warm by the time I got home. Won't order takeout again. read more

Enjoyed our first trip to the Lodge. Solid burgers, crispy onion rings, and cold drinks. Servers and expo worked well together, were friendly, and covered their sections well. Our only feedback would be to include/try wings on the menu and either 1) leave the egg out of the tuna (preference) or 2) mention egg in the menu. I've only been here once before now, and I got a white chicken chili to go. I remember it being delicious, even though I wanted "regular" chili at the time (but it was the only place I could find chili at all). This time, I got a burger (the Blue Star, specifically) and it was absolutely delicious. Between this and Kitchen 527 (Downtown South Haven), I would have a tough time picking a favorite, but the Lodge has smash burgers, so it's dissimilar enough from a regular burger to let me compartmentalize the two tastes. Highly recommended! The fries were great too, but I smother them in ranch, so I couldn't be a true judge. Shut up ant eat it! read more

It's not a trip to Michigan without a stop at The Lodge! Ordered a carry out Firebird wrap on my way out of town - it was tasty! If you've never been inside, it's very open with a small bar. There's an outdoor seating area, but I've never been back there. I typically grab to-go with my family since the patio isn't dog friendly, but it's only about a 15 minute wait. I will say $15 is a little steep for a wrap and chips (+ $1 if you want the dip) but when you're camping and it's one of the best local options - it's worth it. read more

We just got back from spending the evening in South Haven. We saved The Lodge until my best friend came for 2 days. It was extremely hot and muggy so we chose to wait for an inside table and eat inside. It is a very casual local place. Nothing fancy but is always very packed. My husband and our friend got the chicken tendies basket. They loved the broasted chicken. It was sooo good. My BFF and I got the smash burgers. We were both very disappointed. They were very over cooked and dry and tasteless. She ordered the mushroom swiss burger and asked for extra cheese. You needed to use a magnifying glass to find either topping. The bottom line is that we just ordered wrong. I would order the chicken if there an you will be happy. Burgers are not their thing. Also it was very loud in there. I would only go if you were up for that. read more

I sopped in on a Sunday evening for a quick bite to eat. It was my first time here visiting from out of town. The place was semi crowded and lively. I ordered the classic double cheeseburger basket with their comeback sauce on the side and potato chips... The burger was good. My only complaint is that the bun was kinda cold... It could've been heated up a bit more on the grill! The service was prompt and friendly. I would stop in again next time I'm in the area. read more

This is a fantastic little restaurant/bar. Sitting outside, I got to observe that it truly is the place the locals eat. Group after group came in who knew each other and the servers. There was a sweet community here. Also, the food was delicious, it came out super quickly. I loved the spicy blueberry chicken sammie, broasted chicken covered in sweet blueberry jam with pickled jalapeños. Yum! Also, the fries were crispy, hot and well-seasoned. The only thing keeping it from five stars is that the outside seating (where I sat because it was packed at 2pm on a Wednesday! Good job!) looked a little disheveled, with echoes of what could be a super cool outdoor area (as shown on their online pictures but not in current reality). This is the 2nd time we'd been here. The first was right after they opened and we weren't thrilled buttttttttttt there is all kinds of hype about this place so we tried again. I had the broasted chicken, side salad and slaw. The chicken was very hot so that was good but it was dry and I didn't care for the flavor. The cole slaw was mediocre at best. My husband said the burger was ok but nothing special. The food came out very hot so it had not sat under the light to keep it warm He tried my chicken and said it was dry and wasn't even as good as the Krispy Krunchy Chicken from the gas station. Our server Kelly G was EXCELLANT in fact all the employees we came in contact with were very pleasant, smiling & courteous. There were not a lot of menu items either of us were interested in. We really enjoyed our first visit to The Lodge for a Saturday lunch and will definitely return when in the area again! Service was friendly and helpful with suggestions. We opted for the deviled eggs starter followed by the broasted chicken 'tendy' basket and the classic smash burger. Everything tasted great, but I can't recommend the broasted chicken 'tendies' enough; my mouth waters just thinking about them along with their amazing honey mustard dipping sauce! Note: As this was our first visit, and on a Saturday to boot, it was very busy and pretty loud; this is definitely a popular spot! We had two different appetizers. The ranch oyster crackers and the buttered garlic rolls. The rolls were a special for the day and were amazing. We had the Firebird (buffalo chicken sandwich with blue cheese), quesadilla, and the Cure (Smashburger with egg). We all enjoyed our dinners. Service was good and they kept our drinks filled. Oh my. First of all, I roll in at about 2:30 on a Monday and the place is busy. Good sign! I'd heard about the deviled eggs. I went with the "traditional" and was transported back to my Momma's deviled eggs. Divine. I love fried pickles and so "had" to try those. Lightly breaded so that won points and the pickles themselves? . Ate them cold the next day, still good. I got traditional chicken tenders, cause chicken is kind of their thing. Also benefited by a light breading. But let me tell you...if you love garlic, get the spicy garlic sauce and an extra to take home and put on anything else. If you like garlic, get the spicy garlic sauce. If you don't like garlic, try it anyway. Transport to heaven. The place reflects the Lodge theme, but is not overdone. The service was awesome. This place looks like so many Midwestern taverns. A lot of wood, a jukebox with 80s hits. In my mind, I said, I know this kind of place. I'm from Chicago. BUT, the Lodge is NOT like every place else. The menu rocks. We ordered appetizers and sandwiches. I loved the deviled eggs and was excited that they were on the menu. They tasted just like my Aunt Evie's ( and that's a huge compliment ). I had a BLT which was made with love (great ingredients and nicely assembled) and the broasted potatoes ( because I wanted to order SOMETHING broasted) Next time, broasted chicken. The sandwich was delicious. The potatoes were chopped small and roasted. I got so many with my order, that I shared them with my son and his lady. They tasted good, not salty at all. I think this is THE PLACE for great food, great drinks and a homey, classic-rock vibe. You won't take pictures, but you can save your cash for more photogenic locales. I was thinking it would be a great place to meet up with other family members before all going to the rental house. A great place for just drinks and appetizers, too. Prices were doggone reasonable. I was in the South Haven area. We stopped out here late for beers and some wings. Place was nice, service was fast and friendly. Nice open air feel to the dining area.....nice all the way around we will stop in again for a full dinner and update you! I love The Lodge! I especially love the salads! The only thing I would like to see changed is the bowl the salads are served in. I think this is one of the better restaurants in the South Haven area. Although not in the downtown area this rehabbed formerly The Curve Inn is a winner. I had the Broasted Chicken w/two sides (side salad & broasted taters) and it will be on my must haves whenever I'm in town. The Smash burgers are offered as a double or a triple for a $2 up-charge. The menu has some very interesting choices from the "Best of the Rest" section that you'll need to check out, plus a bunch of chicken sandwiches that are either broasted or grilled. Don't forget the deviled eggs! Plenty of parking and outdoor patio seating. We had great service and there were twelve of us. read more

Close your eyes and point to the menu. Just be sure to get that day's deviled eggs and then caramelized onion dip with kettle chips. The fried pickles, blt, and drinks are the only things I will order from here. The atmosphere is great, but the food just isn't great. Service is good here and staff are friendly. I don't know what it is, but there is a taste in most of the food that doesn't settle right with my tastebuds. Not my favorite place. But is a great place for an app and to watch sports. read more
