Clementine's seems like it stays pretty busy, on a Saturday for lunch, wait time about one hour, but it was nice they just text notified so you could spend the time shopping/walking around. The space is big and well-established. Service was efficient, but not overly friendly. I like that they had an activity sheet to keep the kids occupied. Food and drinks came out pretty quickly! My club with curly fries was delicious, but unfortunately a lot of pickles on the side that wasn't listed on the menu or mentioned (hate it when that happens as a pickle hater!). Nachos were delicious. Other opinions at the table: chicken tender breading was more fish-like and the chicken slid out of it - not very tasty. Chick and twist pasta was bland, no notable spice/flavor to the chicken and sauce congealed. The orange cream drink was a hit - tasted like an orange julius! Overall, okay experience, but food average. read more

We know that small town food is not always the best but this one was closer to the worst ones unfortunately Corn dip : lacked flavor and the crema for the chips was only on the top tortillas, nothing at the bottom. Mushrooms were really good. The winners of the night. The drink absolutely tasted like medicine. My husbands steak that he ordered medium well came basically burnt and dry My fish dish was ok, nothing mind blowing. Our server didn't go over specials or anything , she seemed like she didn't want to actually work. ( I believed her name starts with an S but cant remember since she literally never came to check on us other than to bring the food ) Place is nice, big and with a lot of history If we ever come back we would def get the mushrooms and potentially just a burger. read more

We had a really good lunch at Clementine's! I ordered the Corner Deli, which is basically their take on a Reuben, and it was delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted, the meat was flavorful, and everything just worked together. My husband got the club and kept saying how good it was, and both of our kids liked their kids meals. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and our food came out quickly. The only thing that kept this from being a full 5 stars was the ambiance. The building itself has a lot of character and is really cool from the outside, but the inside felt a little dated. Overall though, we'd definitely come back because the food and service more than made up for it! read more

We always make it a point to have a Clementines night during our annual summer vacation in South Haven, and it's one of those traditions we look forward to every year. It was raining and past the dinner rush, so we were pleasantly surprised to have no wait. We had to start with the onion rings, which are a family favorite and never disappoint. We also ordered the Mess of Perch, which is an absolute must every time we visit. My dad chose the walleye, and my son was perfectly happy with the buttered noodles from the kids' menu. The perch and walleye both come with Texas toast and your choice of side, making for a lot of food. I got the French onion soup and it was great. We left completely stuffed and already talking about our next visit. What makes Clementine's so special is that it never tries to be anything other than what it is. In a world where everything seems to change, Clementine's has stayed true to itself, and that's exactly what makes it such a cherished part of our South Haven vacation tradition year after year. read more

Cute inside and there's something for everyone. I would not come back personally, but it did the job of feeding us. Pros: hefty pours of wine and the French onion soup Meh: the food was quite mediocre at best. Burger was so dry and overcooked, the salad had potential but it just felt like something you could pick up at the grocery pre made section. read more

My family loved visiting this restaurant while we were on vacation in South Haven! The wait was worth it! The service was great, our food came quickly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant kept us having a great time visiting with each other. Everyone at our table loved what they ordered, which doesn't happen often! They even had gluten free bread for my husband and I, which made our day, as we could try the sandwiches we were wanting. This restaurant is a classic you'll come back to each time you visit the town! read more

With a line out the door, I was expecting a bit more pizzazz. Service was excellent (thanks Danny!) and the food came out FAST, but I was confused how they weren't able to turn tables faster. It was after 7:30 by the time we got seated for dinner on a Wednesday, but we were well taken care of. The french onion soup was a big hit for a rainy day. read more

First stop in South Haven for our anniversary getaway - the iconic Clementine's! Rich with history in the atmosphere and aesthetic. We were sat in the side dining area and wished we were on the bar / more casual side as it was significantly more lively. Great menu selection and the food was a solid start to the weekend. I would definitely get the steak again - the butter really seals the deal! read more

Sort of attitude from man at front desk seemed annoyed because there were only 4 of us and he wanted to bring us to a table up the stairs and we informed him that one in the party was not able to do stairs so seemingly annoyed he brought us to a table that sat six maybe eight I guess maybe concerned than in case they got bigger parties they wouldn't be able to see them, however it was on a Tuesday early afternoon after Labor Day and the restaurant was pretty much empty not like there was a stampede of people waiting with parties of people to be seated at an eight person table. Then when we got to the table, the waitress seemed a little put out that she actually had to work that day. She was not friendly did not smile. Just acted as if she was doing us a favor being there, two of us were from out of town visiting family who live in South Haven and let me tell you that experience alone has sealed the deal that we will not be back. The food onion rings were very good. The food was decent too good but with the variety of places there to choose from, I don't see any compelling reason to go back. read more

They have so many (must of been about 20 of them) employees all standing around doing nothing but talking to each other. I ordered the heymaker and instead of quartered mushrooms cooked in butter I got uncooked mushroom shaving. For a 16 dollar meal I expected better. and I left hungery I stuck my fork into my pasta wasn't deep enough to make it half way up my fork. it wasn't all bad, the garlic bread was amazing. With melted cheese and butter on this enormous slice of bread without it being toasted. And the broccoli was cooked perfectly. The place looked charming and classy. Double entryway; Brick exterior; wood panel interior.... Ceilings with gold painted tiles; Nice cutlery and plates. read more

Don't get the mushroom, broccoli, spinach with Alfredo sauce over linguini with chicken it was disgusting. I asked if the chicken was grilled, she said yes. It wasn't, it was boiled chicken. So nasty. Also the onion rings tower, don't waste your money. The onion rings tasted old. Not a pleasant visit. Don't waste your money. read more

Met the family for an early Saturday lunch. It has been awhile since we were here last. What I do remember was the great service we received from our server. She was super friendly and interactive with our kiddos. Very complimentary of my sister in laws brand new baby. The food was delicious and very well prepared. I got the Rueben with curly fries and it was a tasty treat for sure. The kids got chicken tenders and mini corn dogs while my wife got a sandwich as well. Very rude hostess. Didn't welcome or greet us at all. Just gave me attitude when I said we had 6 people and rudely told me it could be up to 2hr wait. I didn't care about the time it was going to take but didn't like being treated like that! Now I don't even want to go back for the crappy food. It's just nostalgic to us growing up in the area. We know it's not the best place for food but now it's a horrible place for the old bitty hostess too! read more

We started with the onion rings which we LOVE!! They weren't the same and we are not sure if it was the breading or cooking. The breading was smoother than normal plus tougher and a little doughy. They were ok but not as good. The double eagle salad was EXCELLANT and what my husband normally orders. He ordered the honey mustard (normally gets thousand Island) and did not like it at all. His personal preference not Clem's fault. I had the French dip (high roller) with French onion soup as the side. I love this sandwich and the soup and get it often. It was very good and the soup was hot & good too. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because of the onion rings. Our server was really good also but I didn't get her name. read more

What an AMAZING place. When we Travel to SoHa we never miss an opportunity to eat here. The onion rings are a MUST. This trip we got a Hamburger (wife) and it was wonderful. I got the Roast Beef (High Roller) with a side of French Onion soup and the sandwich was amazing, the French Onion Soup was SO SO GOOD! Maybe the BEST I've ever had. Dessert was perfect. To be 100% honest, I got the Creme Brulee and before it ever got to my table our server "AMIRA" said i am going to take this back and get you another one as the top was a tad over! I can't tell you how this impressed us! Amira was so kind and attentive to our every need. She answered every question with a smile. If you are ever in SoHa Michigan, you have to make this place a stop! read more

This place boasts, a standard home-cooked kitchen type of vibe, but I'm pretty positive. The burger was a premade, frozen patty, and the taste wasn't much better. It wasn't bad, but it was also far from good. There is usually a long wait, especially on weekends, because people just like the vibe, and it's been there for a really long time, but there isn't anything special about the food. The server is very nice. read more

Maybe for drinks & wings but overall not impressed with the options or quality of our dishes.

Place was hopping on Valentine's day. Kitchen seemed backed up due to it being busy, so our food took a long time, but we were patient and the bartender was super kind and made it right for us. Great beer options, and a pretty solid menu. We had the fried shrimp and bbq burger and enjoyed both. Good place for lunch and to get a greasy meal. It's decorated pretty cute in there too which is fun. Ya gotta go there for at least a drink if you are visiting. read more

This place is always completely packed... but it can't be for the quality of the food. I mean, the food is ok. Some items are quite good (perch sandwich was tasty) but others are just ok...(burgers). The wait is easily an hour at any time and sometimes more. At 4:55 on a Tuesday not in prime summer, the wait was 25+ min. Service was friendly but it took maybe 40 min to get food after waiting 30 min for a table. They forgot my drink for a while and it did show up eventually but prob 30 min after I ordered it. As mentioned, food is only ok. After such a long wait, I was expecting much more. I will say that our fries (which we ordered as an appetizer) did come quickly and as we were starving, that worked out well (but again, just ok). Prices were ok... more on the pricey end considering the food but decent for the area. I'm not sure why this is so busy all of the time as there is better food around... maybe nostalgia? It's also a big space, tables are spread out, and it took a while to seat people (maybe they had wandered away while waiting for tables?). Old decor, very dated - is that the look they're going for? It was quite clean, though - a plus! read more

I loved the French onion soup! It was defintely the best part of the meal. Super cheesy and flavorful. The onion ring stack was good but the rings had a very thick batter which I did not like. What a South Haven staple. I love the red rooster chicken- it's a grilled strawberry glazed chicken with walnuts and feta! I usually get it with rice and broccoli. I have been getting this same order for about 20 years. I've tried to make it at home and it just doesn't compare. They have great onion rings too! Place is a bit dated and could use a face lift. It's a bit dreary inside, but the food is still tasty. Service is decent. I think it's a well-known staple in South Haven that is worth checking out. read more

We are visiting family near Kalamazoo, Michigan and they wanted to take us out for dinner and were eager to go to Clementine's in South Haven. It's a bit of a drive and it was Friday, so they assured us, we didn't want to arrive after 4:30, or the wait starts to get long. They were right. We arrived around 4:45 and had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes. When we were seated our server, who was friendly and efficient so we had a good service, brought ice water and straws. She asked if we wanted any other beverages and I asked if they had raspberry lemonade. She smiled and said, "I have lemonade and raspberry syrup." So I ordered that. It was very good lemonade and didn't taste like a commercial brand to me. Our family said,"We have to order onion rings. You can get a half stack or a full stack, and for all of us, we'll order the full stack (stacked 12 inches high on a wooden dowel)." They are obviously homemade and they are battered, but they also make the correct preparation of pre-cooking the onion rings so they will hold together for each bite. Two people split the Fried perch platter and a bowl of onion soup for the side, with a second bowl of soup. One ordered the Fiesta Salad, with mixed greens, salsa and Mexican toppings and added the ground beef option. I had the Panko butterfly shrimp and coleslaw. Everything arrived in a timely manner and good temperatures for the hot and cold items. The restaurant is in the middle, more or less, of South Haven, so if you had to wait for awhile you could visit a lot of shops around the block and down the street. After dinner we made our way to the canal and beach area, set up folding chairs we brought and watched boats coming and going. We strolled down to the lighthouse and back to work off the delicious meal. I strongly recommend Clementine's is worth a visit for the food and your visit to the shoreline city by the lake. read more

Great service and great food. Very fast and clean. Open for lunch which a lot of places around are not.

Fantastic food and atmosphere. I ordered the Perch Sandwich and French Onion soup. The service was quick and friendly too

There was a 20-30 min wait when we checked in with the host, which was to be expected for a Saturday. Once we were seated, we were greeted within a minute. Ordered drinks and the onion rings with ranch. They were delicious! Waiter was very attentive every time he walked by he asked if we needed another drink or anything else. I ordered the Jammin hot honey chicken sandwich and it was loaded with flavor. The bun did get a little soggy, so maybe get the slaw and other toppings on the side to prevent. It was busy so the restaurant was a little loud, but it doesn't bother me. I like the hustle. read more

Good food and great craft beer choices. The menu could use some changing up. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

This was a nice restaurant with a good amount of seating room inside. As an appetizer, I got the creamy chicken wild rice soup: it was indeed creamy and hearty (with a lot of vegetables), but too salty. Good thing my mom had hot water at the table we could add - the flavor was good after adding hot water. For my entree, I got the potato-crusted walleye: the walleye had a nice crunchy exterior and wasn't overly greasy or heavy. It tasted fresh and it was a good size fillet. They also provided good tartar sauce to add a little tang. But this was also on the salty side. The broccoli medley I got as my side was great. They provided a generous amount of vegetables (also snow peas and red pepper) that were steamed. The cheesy garlic toast on the side was solid. I also tried some of the lake perch: it had really well seasoned breading, but this was also too salty. I'm hoping this was just the chef being heavy-handed with the salt shaker that day. I was in between 3 and 4 stars, but based on the overall experience, I'm going to round up. read more

The line for this place is crazy. I think mainly because of the location and history. The food was ok. It was a lot of fried which isn't necessarily a bad thing but also anything fried is usually pretty good. We went later in the evening and only had to wait a few mins. I'm not sure I'd wait a super long time for a table though. I do t think the food justifies it. The service was fast and the food came out at an appropriate temp.
