This is a hard place to get a table , Food is so good I could eat it 4 out of 7 days a week . Service is quick and so friendly . Ambiance is very cozy , with only 10 tables it very nice . But again the food is top notch and getting a table is really hard so plan ahead. read more

I've been coming to Ban Thai since they opened when I was still in school and living with my parents. I hadn't been back in about five years so I begged my husband to get me my go to meal and he thankfully complied with my request. Their pineapple fried rice, with the choice of tofu for the "meat", is what I have always ordered from them because I'm predictable. I ate every bite because I absolutely love Ban Thai food. If you love Thai food, I'd highly recommend stopping by this fantastic restaurant for dinner (as they are only open 5pm-8:30pm 5 days a week). Really disappointed & I won't be back again, seeing as how I don't live here and I wouldn't return if I did. We got 3 entrees and the pricing didn't match the online menu prices, but I understood that because he quoted me the price over the phone. That's the least of my concerns.... Two of our entrees were supposed to be "stir fried" but the vegetables were so limp & steamed. The entrees were filled with SOOO much liquid in the container (see pics). My eggplant dish had just a few eggplant, mostly carrots & green pepper. The sauce did not stick to the food & it was just so watery and unflavored. The noodles we got instead of rice was so soggy and broken apart. Mushy. The brown rice had large clumps of extra dried / crunchy rice pieces and it was like they scraped the bottom of the barrel to fill my to go container. Inedible, honestly. The pad Thai was overly saucy and over cooked....again soggy. Not sure what's going on here. Weirdest thing is that we received 3 fortune cookies. Where do I even began! So we called and spoke to the owner and he said he would have to check with his wife if he could seat 20+ guest. Once we got sat, he passed the menus and never mentioned anything until the end when we were paying. All of a sudden, the prices on the menu increased! In town for business and got takeout. I love Thai food so I like to try the local spot when I travel, but this was below average. The best thing I tried was the chive dumplings. When I picked up the food it was significantly more expensive than it should have been and they said everything has increased by $2 per item, but that isn't reflected on their website. read more

Been here long before, but returned years back craving Thai food. I came here with a friend and unfortunately the restaurant dine in was closed but they were doing take out orders. My friend and I ordered take out and the service was friendly and somewhat timely. When we got our food, I couldn't help but notice how small the portions were and how high the cost for my Green Curry with tofu dish was. I understand that Thai food is pricy but usually the places I frequent, the portions are reasonable so I can let that slide, however here the portions were lacking and leaving me not fully satisfied...instead leaving me questioning whether or not I was satisfied. If I have to question and ponder on that, the answer is obvious, because if I was full plus have leftovers for later, I would say it's well worth the money. But I think since this is the only Thai restaurant in town with no other competition, he can raise the prices to $16+ per small dish. In other Thai restaurants I can order two entrees for that price. Anyway if a place doesn't fill me up and provide hefty portions that I can take home to enjoy for a 2nd round, I have to go elsewhere. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Jimmy and his wife Angie! They serve incredibly delicious and authentic Thai food and are very hospitable. The hours on Yelp aren't updated for their COVID hours and I showed up 20 minutes after they had closed. Pad Mee Mao is one of my favorite Thai dishes because of the basil, garlic, salty, sweet, spicy-ness of it all I also couldn't leave without getting some Lad Na, the spicy mama, and the curry fried rice which I was especially craving. Run--do not walk! It's hard to say which dish we ordered was the best considering all we're so delicious and full of the flavors you imagine when you think Thai. It's difficult to find authentic & tasty Asian food in south west Michigan in general, let alone Thai food. The bottom line is that absolutely nobody does it like Jimmy does it. He travels to chicago at least once a week to get the freshest product & rare spices that you won't find in Michigan or even Indiana. Do yourself a favor. This was my first time trying Bon Thai after numerous people insisted I go, and my only regret is I did not try sooner.
