This is takeout only. I liked the fried rice and beef lo mein. Egg roll was ok. The bourbon chicken was very different from the one at China Garden. This was more like bbq sauce. I prefer the other one, but I will try some other things here. They do not make their own hot mustard or almond cookies also, which China Garden does. The fried rice is better here though. Overall, it was ok. Staff was friendly. I don't know why people are so worried about the collection of boxes. I have no idea what they are doing with all of those boxes, but it does not seem to interfere with what they do in the kitchen. read more

I don't come to Good Fortune often, less than once a year for the past few years, mostly because there are other Chinese food options locally that I prefer. We did come back about a week ago, my husband and I both got an order of orange chicken. He got fried rice with it while I got plain white rice. Food was average in my opinion. Neither my husband nor I finished our food, which is abnormal for us when eating Chinese cuisine. He also got me some veggie rolls, though I didn't care for them. Overall, not a bad place but I don't see my husband and myself making this restaurant a regular spot. read more

Customer service at this restaurant is unmatched. Very friendly and attentive staff. Although there is no dine in option the shrimp fried rice is good. I added soy sauce and hot chili oil to kick up the spice. Plenty shrimp in each bite. I will definitely return to try the egg fu young. read more

The food was so salty it was inedible and they were unwilling to reasonably resolve the $41.08 dispute. To their credit, I was the last order of the day and they were closed when I called to resolve it. I called the next day and the worker was rude and refused to come to an agreement. In my attempt to resolve the issue I offered options to pay for a new order with a discount applied, full refund, or replace my order. The lady hung up on me. I called MDARD because I was unwilling to donate $41 and I know my rights under MCPA. I was advised to speak with the owner and not the worker. The owner told me to bring the food back and he'd give total refund, no problem. I returned the food presented my receipt the worker refused to give me the refund. I refused to go back and forth and asked for the owner. He gave the refund and the worker yelled "Noooo" at him. Unlike his kindness over the phone, he nastily handed me the money and said he never wanted to see me again. This is an odd little takeout place. First visit. The woman who took my phone order was somewhat difficult to understand. We settled on an order. Went with Cantonese Chow Mein. The service counter is strange; maybe built for Covid protection..?? Small pass through opening. The entree seemed more like soup than what I know to be CCM; the container was half filled with stock. Thicker noodles than expected. Decent flavor. The area behind the counter is a mess with lots of cardboard boxes. The kitchen is in the rear. The fork was very flimsy and made eating a challenge. My favorite place for Chinese. They're take out only at this time. The lady who answers the phone is very nice and will ask, for spicy dishes, if you want it "hot or not hot". You can also make other 'non spicy' dishes spicy by asking to make them hot. Tip: when calling in your order also include asking for other things such as: chop sticks (and how many) or plasticware; hot mustard (not always included). We ordered from Good Fortune for a group working session where we needed delivery. The menu is very affordable with almost all mains less than $10. Note that the "large" size is twice as big as the "small" size and is ample for two people or great for leftovers. We had a range of Kung Pao Chicken, Cashew Chicken, and Orange Chicken which were all nice. The fried rice was a darker style (i.e. heavier on the soy sauce) and the pot stickers were large and made of a thicker covering. We had an order for ~10 people, we ordered ~7:30pm and the food arrived at ~9pm. I haven't had a lot of delivery in the area so I'm not sure if this is a long time or not, more of a note of reference. read more

I got the shrimp egg foo young (lunch special). The food was alright, probably a 3.5/5. Got my food in about 7 minutes The inside of the place is pretty untidy. Definitely has the "hole in the wall", family run, kinda vibe. But not really neat or well put together. Wouldn't recommend bringing family for a sit-down meal. read more

We've carried out from this place a few times. It's the least mediocre of any of the Chinese places we've tried in the area. Their portions are very generous and the food we ordered last evening was tasty - their pan fried noodles were really good and cooked perfectly, Egg Rolls and Fried Rice are decent too. I'm not sure how I feel about the meat and veggies being diced into the smallest pieces - and the fact that their Sizzling Rice soup didn't come with Sizzling Rice (the cashier told us they don't sell much of it so it came with chow mein noodles instead - not the same by any stretch of the imagination!!!) I've had much better Chinese food but so far haven't been able to find a better place in Southwest Michigan so I guess we'll keep going to Good Fortune - until we do. read more

I am a loyal Good Fortune customer. In my opinion, it is the best Chinese cuisine in the area and the people are very, very nice. Tonight, I wasn't paying attention and ordered from another restaurant. It was a little greasy, the pea pods were mushy, just not as tasty. It really made me appreciate Good Fortune food even more. I recommend Good Fortune to anyone looking for tasty and satisfying Chinese cuisine (and will double check who I am calling before I order Chinese again.) First off fried rice is crazy yummy! Homemade for sure and well worth the price!! The veggie egg rolls are equally as good but I'm an egg roll head so I like any lol. I also got the bourbon chicken which was really good, they put broccoli carrots and onion in it though so if you're not into that make sure you ask to omit it! Overall I paid $16 for small bourbon chicken small fried rice and 2 egg rolls but the sizes are big and I'd definitely pay that again considering 2 people could have eaten this and still been full. People are super nice, however, I feel this is more so of a take out restaurant you can tell the place needs some tlc and wait times can go from 10 mins to 40 real fast so calling ahead and take your time to get there is what I recommend! I found this restaurant online and menu looked reasonably priced, so called and placed an order. The lady on the phone was pleasant and helpful. The location is on M139 starting to head out of town in a Plaza. The building could use a good facelift. The inside has a dive feel. There's seating for dining-in but it doesn't have a fantastic dining-in feel to it. The food however was really tasty. I ordered the sesame chicken and my grandmother got sweet and sour chicken. I lived in Japan for 4 years I had Oyakodon every couple of weeks. I had that dish there for take out and I was so disappointed. I really wanted it to at least come close, like %70ish there knowing it's not something everyone cooks everyday but my serving was literally %95 rice and %5 chicken and vegetables. I get it that they don't include egg but there was literally 4 pieces of chicken that did not amount to 1/2 cubic centimeter each, let alone the blended veggies, they did ad the traditional and appropriate base of meat stock to the dish but it was heavily oiled and had a burnt taste. I'm just shocked that a dish in their take has fallen so short from the traditional. I can make the dish at home with required ingredients in a comparable portion for less than $3. I'm not cooking it for a living. I could literally taste the burnt suspended material in the stock. I could have had a bad batch but even if it tasted twice as good I will not risk it just to be disappointed again. Note to the reader I ate marine corps chow hall food and it had its days. For recommended "servings" the dish requires $1.40, today, including BTUs required to cook! knowing the appropriately sized dish is twice that to feel nourishing and fill the take out box they would have to be in it $2.80 material. I'm buying everything retail, Not wholesale like a restaurant. With labor for cooking, cleaning and what other overhead you would have you make more than double. Don't get me wrong they do have some tasty selections but for the basic dish they get it so wrong and the taste tells me the quality and cleaning habits of the establishment. This review is prior corona and I wasn't going to say anything but so many people rave about it but I have to educate them. I will be eating there in the future and ordering the same and several other dishes so I will retract my comments or reaffirm them because It's my obligation to give them a second chance.
