Breakfast Hash (egg, potatoes, bacon, ham, and sausage) w/ sausage gravy and toast...all from scratch!!!

Was in town with my girlfriend and came in for breakfast before we left on a Sunday morning (pro tip- get there early as we arrived at 8 and got seated, left at about 9:15 and there was a 20-30 minute wait). Pros - Food was amazing! Great taste, flavor, and overall yumminess!! - Service was solid. Efficient, checked on customers, and seemed to care and enjoy work. - Prices were amazing! Cons - That they aren't in mid-state Indiana so I could eat it more often?

Six former women of Cousins (IYKYK) partnered together after its closure and opened Six Chicks - and we are so thankful. Its eclectic decor and extensive menu have me reminiscing of the diner that closed many years ago. It's become a family favorite of ours, and I definitely recommend it for your dining while in South Haven. The staff is friendly and kind. Summer in SW Michigan means everyone is on Lake Time, so be prepared to wait a little. Once seated you can sit back and relax while the team takes care of you. I ordered the Denver Omelette and it did not disappoint. It came with hash browns and toast and I left with an empty plate and full belly. I will definitely be back again soon. Thank you for a great experience!

Finished our two-day visit to South Haven with breakfast at Six Chicks. Pleasant little place with family atmosphere. Great food and friendly, efficient service. Probably the best cup of coffee I've had in a long time (learned it was Mosaic coffee).

This place is very much diner-y. The servers were all very kind and polite. I got the grilled cheese and added bacon and tomato. It was pretty good! How can you go wrong with cheese, bacon, and tomato. My only qualm was there were some other diners in there that made a stink in there when we got our food before them. It made it a little awkward, but that isn't an issue of Six Chicks. I thought the staff handled it well despite these people being rude.

The outdoor patio was great, very laid back summer vibes. It's a no reservations and seat yourself place. We couldn't find a table at first and a couple got up to give us their table since we had kids, they grabbed seats at the bar instead. Very cool of them. We sent them a round of drinks! They have lots of Michigan craft beers on the menu. My husband had beer and I had their South Haven Spritz. I liked the Soha Sunshine better. We started with their Captains dip. It's a creamy smoked salmon dip served with pita chips, it was good. I had their Manistee Mama, it's their fried perch sandwich with a cajun tater sauce. It was great and not overly battered. It was actually a pretty lite sandwich considering it's fried. My husband had their Beachside wings with Spicy Ranch Sauce. The "Spicy Ranch" Sauce intrigued him. He loved the wings and the sauce tasted just like it sounds. We had a great dinner. Captain Lou's is a great location on the river by the bridge, but parking is tough. We had to park off Black River St. and walk. Another option is to park in town and walk over the bridge. We were waiting for the check and noticed another group of four looking for a table so we got up early to give our table, pay it forward! The guy offered to buy us a round of drinks. We passed on the drinks, but such a positive vibe all around.

They were not heavily breaded. The perch was nice thick fillets and the shrimp while not huge were very sweet and was de-tailed. The only thing my husband didn't like was the Cole slaw. He said the perch & shrimp were the best he's had in a very long time. It came with slaw & fries btw. The pizza was good but not sure I'd order it again. It was hot, fresh and had a lot of toppings but I wasn't crazy about the sausage. My personal problem as I've heard nothing but good about their pizza. Our server was very nice and personable. (Marcus) The only thing I didn't like was it's not easily accessible if you are handicapped. There were a lot of steps to go down and to use ground level walk in there was quite a walk down through shops (nothing you'd like to do in winter). All in all we will go again, park closer to the ground level walk in which is still a little hike if handicapped and not go in the resort season or once it snows/ices - would be tricky for a handicapped person.

First of all, the drive to Fennville is gorgeous! We always love the rural landscape and the quaint town itself. Definitely a destination to visit. Second, the building itself is cute, rustic, inviting, and well-kept right in the heart of Fennville's adorable downtown. Third, the staff are so welcoming, kind, helpful, and professional. We especially loved our hostess (Chrissie/Christy?). She treated us so well and definitely talked us into some yummy extras Now to the food and drinks! The extensive cocktail, wine, and beer selection is high quality and specially curated. I had a hard time deciding, but I settled on the Sage Rub. It was so delicious and refreshing; not too sweet. I highly recommend it! My husband got the Bell's Hazy IPA, one of his favorites! We started with the Brussels sprouts and the bread board. The Brussels were decadent, crisp, and flavorful! The bread was such a rich array of tasty breads and butter/salt/pepper sides. We loved every bite! I got the house salad and my husband got the special. We each preferred our own salads, so that's good! I loved the house salad because of the light and refreshing vinegarette . The flavors were spot on. My husband liked that the special salad brought together a bunch of different flavors into a sweet/tangy delight! For our main entrees, both my husband and I were eying the Three Little Pigs pizza. He ended up getting and let me have a bite: so flavorful with high quality meats, cheese, and ingredients overall. So good! I got the Housemade pasta with beef tenderloin, charred onions, and mushroom sauce. It was literally divine and I cherished each and every bite. We would have loved to get dessert, but we were stuffed! Maybe next time? Prices are great, the space is clean/safe, and the portions are excellent. And you can make reservations through their website beforehand. Very clutch, especially since it is a good drive from most towns. It's a lovely place for a restaurant and we've been able to find comfortable seating for a large group. We visited on Black Friday and had a nice experience! Our server was attentive and fast, drinks were handled very well with everyone getting different coffees, teas, etc. and we were all ordered with the food out within 15 minutes. One dish was delayed but the rest came out on time. The food is pretty standard for an American brunch spot- it's 4/5 stars when it comes to seasoning/quality in my opinion, and comes at a higher price point- but I think you're paying for the view which makes sense! The windows over the water are beautiful and the decor is cozy and comfortable. So all in all, this is a great choice of a spot for a date night or family meal. The menu has all of your standard brunch options- a Benedict, pancakes, several omelettes, a classic breakfast, a hash, etc. I ordered the garden omelette and it left a little to be desired- potatoes weren't all the way cooked/ sat in a lot of oil, eggs were well cooked but the veggies were cut in large chunks/on the more raw side. This is what I meant about being 4/5 stars. Large portion sizes though, and something for everyone on the menu. The pizzas and sandwiches always look really good! And there's an extensive drink menu as well as a holiday drink menu. I imagine this place would be amazing in the summer when Benton Harbor comes alive but it's charming in the colder months as well. We will keep coming back when we're in town visiting family!
