This is such a hidden gem! We have been coming to South Haven for years and just found this place through Yelp. The service was excellent, the food was outstanding and fresh (made by scratch) in most cases. Cute chicken theme throughout, open dining area without being on top of one another. Our food was hot and delicious BUT the cinnamon roll was unbelievable!!! So good read more

This is a OMG hidden gem that is a do not miss. The Carmel pecan cinnamon roll is to die for. I had the chicken scratch which is something I have never had before. Its eggs, ham, bacon, sausage with a hash brown base, served with the best sausage gravy I have had, even better than what I make and I am southern born and raised sausage gravy cook. My husband had a ham & cheese omelette and home potatoes which included sweet potatoes. Even the toast was delicious. The coffee perfectly brewed. If you are in South Haven, this is a DO NOT miss restaurant in a unassuming building and the food and service is excellent. Already trying to figure out how to go back since we live in IL. read more

This place was packed, so busy we had to split our family of six into two tables just to get seated. The server moved fast, though she wasn't much for small talk. Food came out in a decent amount of time considering how slammed they were. We loaded up on a mixture of eggs, pancakes, French toast, bacon, you name it. Everything hit the spot, nothing was mind blowing, but solid execution across the board. If you're in the area and craving a good breakfast, this place gets the job done. read more

I tried the sausage breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, and a cinnamon roll. The sandwich was the best of everything. Overall, the food was just ok for me. The quality was not the best for the other items. Service was friendly. read more

We found this place when leaving town and holy cow! This place has delicious food. We had the homemade quiche which was fully of flavor and the crust was so flaky and buttery. We decided to get the cinnamon roll too and it was one of the best I've ever had! I see why they're famous for it because it was incredible but also unique. The servers were all very nice and service was timely. We will definitely remember this place if we come for another visit! read more

Wow. Great service and great food. A wonderful way to start the day. I will go back as soon as I can.

With all the glowing reviews, how could I leave a 1 star. Easy, accessibility. I drove an hour to try this restaurant. The parking lot consisted of 10 spots??? 3-4 are easily employees. So I tried the street. No parking on the street. Fresh yellow paint on the curbs. In fact the grass still had yellow overspray. Go around the block and spot a huge parking lot. Private parking and you would be towed. Wasted 2 hours plus gas. read more

We were visiting South Haven for the weekend and thanks to my trusty Yelp! app, we found Six Chicks Scratch Kitchen. What a gem! Food portions are very favorable to those of us with healthy appetites. If you are petite or do not like larger portions, plan on sharing or taking food home with you! The food tasted amazing and even though we had to wait for a while before being seated due to the popularity of this establishment, it was definitely worth it. Very homey and warm ambiance made me feel as if I was at my Grandma's when I was a child. Servers were all very attentive and knowledgeable of menu offerings. They all seemed very personable as we watched them interact with their patrons. When we go back to South Haven, we will definitely make sure to dine at this gem! One of the best breakfast establishments I have been to in quite some time... read more

I've been there twice now, and got the farmers hash once, and the casserole the other time. I love, corned beef hash, and the farmers hash looked a little weird on the menu, but the taste was really great. The six chicks casserole was OK, otherwise this would be five stars. It was four-star worthy-- a little dense and a little dry, but OK flavor. I got a giant cinnamon roll to go, and nibbled on it for two days. It was very rich, and super delicious. I will anecdote: I had coffee, and the bus boy walked by, accidentally bumped my seat, and a large drop of dirty bin water popped into my coffee. No marks down for that. accidents happen read more

Came here for the giant cinnamon roll and it was delicious!! We were driving back home after a weekend at the beach and decided to stop here along the way. The food was a 10/10. It is super hard to find a great breakfast place and it did not disappoint! They were very busy and groups were waiting to be seated but since we were just two people, we got sat right away. Only complaint I have is that our server greeted us once and we never saw her again but others were able to cater to us, most likely because it was so busy. read more

Was in town with my girlfriend and came in for breakfast before we left on a Sunday morning (pro tip- get there early as we arrived at 8 and got seated, left at about 9:15 and there was a 20-30 minute wait). Pros - Food was amazing! Great taste, flavor, and overall yumminess!! - Service was solid. Efficient, checked on customers, and seemed to care and enjoy work. - Prices were amazing! Cons - That they aren't in mid-state Indiana so I could eat it more often? read more

Six Chicks Scratch Kitchen - Breakfast Hash (egg, potatoes, bacon, ham, and sausage) w/ sausage gravy and toast...all from scratch!!! - New American Near Me - South Haven, Michigan

Six former women of Cousins (IYKYK) partnered together after its closure and opened Six Chicks - and we are so thankful. Its eclectic decor and extensive menu have me reminiscing of the diner that closed many years ago. It's become a family favorite of ours, and I definitely recommend it for your dining while in South Haven. The staff is friendly and kind. Summer in SW Michigan means everyone is on Lake Time, so be prepared to wait a little. Once seated you can sit back and relax while the team takes care of you. I ordered the Denver Omelette and it did not disappoint. It came with hash browns and toast and I left with an empty plate and full belly. I will definitely be back again soon. Thank you for a great experience! read more

After hearing about 6 Chicks many times. We finally made it for breakfast. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was really good. My husband ordered corn beef hash. It did say it had more onion than he likes. But it was a generous portion with real corn beef. I had eggs, sourdough toast, sausage patties and their house fries. I personally would have liked a little more seasoning on the house fries (that had both regular potato and sweet potato chunks). But I will admit, I like a lot of seasoning. I also had a very generous portion of food. The restaurant was clean and decorated really cute. We went in the "off season". So it wasn't too busy. A little more than half full. It's a great breakfast place. And will definitely be back. read more

I have to drop a star for the wait and the fact that there's nowhere to wait... However, once you're in, the food is fantastic, service is friendly and doesn't rush you, and value is there. We tried to go twice the week we visited and finally showed up early enough to get a table without an excessive wait. Whatever time you think is early enough...it's not! Leave extra time to wait. Great breakfast fare, in a very cute space. Everything I tried was delicious - from pancakes to egg dishes and a pastry. Also, tasty coffee - a plus. Definitely with a visit...if you don't mind waiting! read more

Average to below average food, slow service, snippy servers. Had higher hopes for this place. Pancakes are probably the best item they serve. read more

This place is not what it used to be. Wait time to get a table was long but expected. The thing that was the most disappointing was once we were seated waited 20mins just to order while watching the server stand but the bar for over 5 minutes looking around. Not sure what she was waiting on but definitely disappointed with how much changed in the wrong direction. Then food was forgotten about had to ask for the food that was missing. Hopefully they can improve but staff made it feel like coming here was the worse part of their shift. Hopefully will see something change in the future. read more

I ordered the sausage and biscuits with eggs over easy. When it arrived it looked fantastic. But my first bite of the biscuits and gravy it was warm at best . So when our server came back to check on our food I told her that my biscuits and gravy where just warm. She apologized and took it back and a few minutes later it was brought back and it was great in temperature but when the reheated it they cooked the eggs to very well done. When our server came back to bring the bill she asked how everything was and I told her the eggs got over cooked when they reheated my sausage and gravy. Her reply was I'm sorry about that. read more

More than one gluten free option! And they're fun options too. Can't have one of the famous cinnamon rolls, but they have an awesome zucchini waffle that's gluten free! The breakfast scramble with Brussels sprouts and cabbage is to die for! read more

This place is very much diner-y. The servers were all very kind and polite. I got the grilled cheese and added bacon and tomato. It was pretty good! How can you go wrong with cheese, bacon, and tomato. My only qualm was there were some other diners in there that made a stink in there when we got our food before them. It made it a little awkward, but that isn't an issue of Six Chicks. I thought the staff handled it well despite these people being rude. read more

The only thing that was good, was the coffee, tea, English Muffin and part of the pancakes (part of them were undercooked). The corn-beef hash was horrible and definitely not worth $12.50!!! Small portions, the onions were undercooked, and so were the potatoes; the corned beef was very fatty, with some of the pieces couldn't be eaten. The quiche Was undercooked (the bottom crust was not cooked all the way), but the filling was delicious; maybe dry cook the crust before adding the filling, for the full cook. The good part was the coffee lady...she was very nice and pleasant to talk to...thanks!!! The waitress was over worked and not prompt!!! read more

Home run breakfast spot. Highlights include: + Reasonable wait for a vacation town: 20 minutes around 8:45 on a Tuesday + Friendly service + Broad menu + Fun kids menu/placemat including coloring contest + You can get lunch items in the morning + Delicious and enormous cinnamon roll--share one among the whole table! + Excellent food + Farmers hash: This is a totally unique dish of sauteed shredded cabbage, carrots, onions, and brussels sprouts, with diced potatoes, topped with crumbled bacon and two eggs of your choice. Nice place to stop in for breakfast. good, basic breakfast food. Everything was good. We've tried it twice now.

We were in town looking for a brunch spot and found this place with amazing reviews so decided to check it out! It is SUCH a cute vibe inside. Every single staff person is the absolute sweetest and provide amazing service! Let's get to the amazing food - we got orange juice, Belgian waffles with bacon on the side, and a breakfast burrito with a side of house potatoes. The orange juice was alright but our server was so nice to notice that we didn't drink it and took it off our bill!!! Incredible customer service! The waffle was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the outside and syrup went perfectly with it! The bacon was probably the best we've ever had at a brunch spot! We would come back over and Over again just to get that! Haha. Lastly, the breakfast burrito. IT WAS PHENOMENAL! The ratio of eggs to cheese to chorizo was incredible. The avacado and jalapeños inside added such amazing flavor! And the side of house potatoes was absolutely delicious! What an amazing first experience! If you're in the area, please go check it out! You will not be disappointed! read more

Walked in on a Saturday morning. Three employees were near the host stand. Although they were doing things, they made eye contact and clearly saw us. Nobody acknowledged us in any way. One person looked me right in the eye no fewer than three times and said/did nothing to indicate that they would be with us. We finally called them out on it and simply left. A three-second acknowledgement would have brought a different outcome. read more
