We used to frequent this establishment often when it was the "Maple Grove". We decided to come here after another local restaurant, that we were going to eat at. That was extremely busy. We have not been here since it became the Groovin Grove. I have to say, it was a bit off putting when we walked in and it was sooooo dark inside. And It has a very strange smell. My husband said , "it smells like my grandma's house". Which made sense, with the vintage decor. BUT. The bartender, who was also our waitress was very nice and attentive. The music started shortly after we got there. And they were great! I ordered the grilled chicken, and my husband ordered the olive burger. They were both really good. But I do wish they had sides besides chips. (I am not a fan of chips.). The table next to us ordered a flatbread. And it looked amazing! I want to come back just to try those. Interesting atmoshere with great music, great staff, and good food. I should add. They have an extensive cocktail menu. Although we did not try any. This is much most of a cocktail lounge than food establishment. read more

So awesome reimagined dive bar into a 70's speak easy. The 70s kitsch is well done. We had the pretzel and cheese app, olive burger, veggie flatbread, all very good. If you want a great place where you'll find the locals and not the tourists...this is the place. Uber clean facility, friendly staff, and local flavor to make this a hit with this Chicago-area critic. We wanted burgers and Maple Grove provided an exceptional rendition of this easy to bore dish. Meat was fresh ground, kaiser roll nicely toasted, bacon and condiments spot on. Fries were great though the waffle fries were REALLY good. Nice seasoning! I like beer and their taps had something for everyone. Greenbush Star Chicken Shotgun was fresh and well poured. South Haven has great eating...Maple Grove is a hidden gem a bit away from the touristy grind of South Haven's downtown. It's perhaps a more authentic take on Pure Michigan eating. They truly do make a great burger. I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger. Full Tommy Burger, which means it's about 1/3 to 1/2 pound fresh, local, beef patty. Fresh mushrooms too, sliced and grilled. The fries are home cut. Soup was home made. Very good. read more

We have gone here twice during the pandemic. Found the food and service excellent. Yes it is bar food but I love their Mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings. Quite commendable onion rings. We discovered this bar driving from South Haven to Kalamazoo it's only about a mile from Downtown South Haven, so great location. We've had quite of few different items off there menu and they have specials daily. There burgers are great, cooked just right and toasted buns too! Full service bar which serves great Diet Coke but the rest of the patrons were having beer and mixed drinks. Very friendly staff / owners, made us feel right at home. read more

I've been waiting for my bill for so long that I had time to leave this review. The owner is extremely obnoxious, racist, loud and annoying.. Sat at the bar gossiping the entire time. My "wet burrito" wasn't wet at all. Mostly filled with cheese and just kind of gross. Husbands and sons burger where mediocre. Nothing special. The worst part was the service. 20 mins to be greeted and have drinks taken.. Extremely slow! We were there for an hour and 20 mins and I never had my drink refilled. They don't have a tip option on the receipt so they awkwardly ask you how much to run the card for so you have to think of a number in the spot. Over priced for typical bar food, apps are very small portions.. potato skins are not skins at all but sliced potatoes with cheese and bacon on top. read more

Definitely not the worlds greatest burgers. When your not asked how you want your burger that should be first clue. Place looked clean and nice ... But a typical bar. Burger had no taste ... They claim they have a special blend for their hamburger. I couldn't taste anything but over cooked bland hamburger. I had the world famous Jerry Grove burger. Captain Lou's in SoHa has much better burgers. I have many burger joints close to home way better. Actually you would be better off at Wendy's. Now the good. Nice place and good service. This is a great local gem! Local bar and grill with small local feel. Waitress/bartender/do-it-all was friendly, curious, professional, hard working doing it all on her own. I had not eaten until I ordered a hamburger from Maple Grill. My family and I had been running errands downtown South Haven and needed to get my mother in law back to work for her afternoon shift. I ran in and picked up my burger. While in the car I began to eat my burger. After about the second bite I pulled a long strand of hair from my burger. I am.an African American who has super short dark brown hair. It was not my hair. When I called to complain to the manager I was advised that I should bring the burger back. Well I couldn't because we had to get my mother in.law to work. Management was not receptive to my concern of hair in your food and insinuated that it was my hair. I will never eat at this establishment. I wasn't trying to get something for free I just expected to get only what I paid for less hair. read more

My family ate here while visiting South Haven based on Yelp reviews. The burgers were fantastic, the service was friendly and efficient, and there was a good Michigan craft beer selection. #1 they use Bobs meat. A local small meat processor. We have bought our meats from Bobs. So there's the reason the hamburgers are so good. Friendly service. Cold beers. My husband and I had their Jerry Grove Burger. It had grilled onions, bacon, Swiss Cheese on Texas Toast. $9.95. If you want it deluxe (lettuce/tomato/dressing ) it's 75 cents more. We are traveling in a RV and when come back to South Haven next summer we will be back here. read more

Found this on our way north and now have a great stopping point when passing thru. Don't be put off by the older exterior....and interior.
