Nice establishment with hearty food and friendly staff. Great flavors. Spicy fried pickles were crisp. Homemade ranch was delicious. The Waldorf Burger was flavorful. Monster Burger was the perfect pairing to the Tomato Soup. Tomato soup was rich and delicious. Joy served us and was fantastic. Would recommend! read more

We stopped in here for lunch and left happy. The food was decent with good seasoning, nothing fancy but solid. Our server was fast, friendly, and attentive the whole time we were there. Prices were reasonable for what you got, and the place was clean and well kept. Overall a good stop if you're in the area and want a solid, no-fuss meal. read more

Kitchen 527 - House Salad - Bars Near Me - South Haven, Michigan

A late summer dinner. Parking lot behind 527 is great to use. We went with the whole fried chicken with three sides. I was surprised that it came to the table in 10-15 minutes after placing the order. Most places require 25-30 minutes. The chicken was a little dry but hot and very flavorful. Fries and onion rings are decent. We did not care for the mac and cheese; probably old school guys who are picky..?? It was very creamy. Very pleasant and efficient service. They typically offer a few specials. Kitchen 527 is a solid choice in South Haven. read more

What a nice place. Looks like a greasey spoon but is more upscale. Great friend walleye. Good cheese curds. Really nice staff. Clean spot. I would be back for sure. The bar food is good and this place is much easier to deal with than a certain place across the street that everybody waits 90+ minutes for marginal grub. read more

Great food, great service. Very family friendly. A tad bit expensive but well worth it. $72 for 2 adults and 2 babies

I loved this place. They had a nice menu that's perfect for lunch. First off their spicy fried pickles were great. They had this like salad I saw someone eating and it looked like something out of a magazine. I ended up ordering the Rueben with a side salad. The side salad was mixed greens with tomatoes, onion and carrots. It was delicious and the Reuben was awesome. My boyfriend got the fried walleye and was also very pleased with his meal. We both picked other things to try another visit. This is very much a chill casual dining experience but their food is 10/10! The inside is very much a bar feeling but the food is like fancy. Service was excellent and friendly, highly recommend trying out! And can't wait to go back read more

This place has impressed me several times at this point, so I figured it's time to leave a review. They're chilly, while in season, is fantastic. They serve it until just after summer starts, and it's worth the trip just for that. Their monster burger is also spectacular! I split it with someone, and it was plenty. It was a little messy, but the fresh burger and the ingredients made for a great mixture of tastes. Definitely one of the better places to eat. The dining area is relatively small, but I've never had to wait. read more

We sat at the bar and had beers and a few apps. We made it just in time for happy hour which was a bonus! Jeff was our bartender and was very nice. They had a watermelon salad special that sounded amazing but we filled up on fried cheese curds and popcorn chicken so we didn't end up getting any more food. read more

Kitchen 527 - Half a Monster Burger, cooked medium rare. Yum! - Bars Near Me - South Haven, Michigan

We enjoyed the bartender at this location. It is a bar with additional family seating. Highlights here were the hush puppies, great tasting burger (it's the recommended burger), and the fish was lightly breaded. All the food was great! Enjoy. read more

Best Rueben I've had in awhile, also all you can eat walleye on Friday is great. Exceptional side salad.

Stopped in here for a snack and was pleasantly surprised to find such an interesting menu. Tried the Guacamole Bites and the Hushpuppies. Both were delicious. Had never had anything like the guacamole bites, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect even with the explanation on the menu, but they were so good! Our server was great and attentive. Would love to go back someday to try more of the food read more

Just had lunch with my daughter. I had fish and fries and my daughter had their chicken sandwich. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Loved the smile & conversation. I hardly go downtown during the summer due to the overwhelming tourist in town. The atmosphere was good. read more

We were on the way up North and stopped for dinner. Service was very pleasant and welcoming. Food came out very quickly, which was great since we were traveling. I had a grouper taco special, which hit just right. My partner got the salmon burger, which he also gave a thumbs up. We had a couple of local ginger brews to drink, which was nice since we were both a little under the weather. The atmosphere is very much "local pub", but is comfortable and friendly. Food is definitely steps above the usual pub grub so I wouldn't miss eating here if you're looking for dining that's beyond the basics. Overall, we would definitely stop again! read more

Quaint place, great food and speedy and nice service. Popped in on a Sunday afternoon and tour surprise had some really great grub. We started with the rainbow trout spread (a must try) and then I had the walleye and chips - absolutely phenomenal. My pops had the cod and the ladies had kale salads with chicken. Every one of us walked out extremely happy and satisfied. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

Left a 2 star review 3 years ago from an order during the pandemic, 3 years later I wanted to give this place another try. What a tale of two meals. This second interaction was MUICH better. I started with the cheese curds which come with an amazing wasabi aioli. The cheese curds themselves could come out of the fryer a minute earlier. Next I went with their specialty burger of the month, the Hawaiian. It was fantastic as were the onion rings that came with it. The draught beer list wasn't great but that's all preference on my end. read more

Another nice place to eat in South Haven. I don't think many people will try this place as it is not one of popular places. However, it is a must try. 527 is located at the start of Phoenix Street. It's a small place but clean, comfortable and has good food. The host and waitress were outstanding and friendly. They took our cell phone number and called us when our table was ready. My wife ordered the fish basket. She loved the fresh fish taste and crispy breading. It wasn't too thick or greasy. The fries were very good - nice and crisp with a slight seasoning. I ordered the BLT which was loaded with very tasty bacon. You won't get this much bacon on a BLT anywhere. The bacon had a fantastic flavor and crisp. The onion rings were very good as they had a nice large piece of onion. The breading was slightly thick and mildly greasy. The hush puppies were outstanding as well. read more

Such a great place!! We stopped in after seeing happy hour sign and great prices! We had the friendliest bartender, Andy. He was so helpful with information on South Haven and surrounding areas. He let us try many different beers before committing. Food looked amazing but we didn't eat. We will definitely be back!! Inside seating but loved the open kitchen concept very clean too. read more

Food was good. Service was lacking. Alice L offered no sort of kindness or even hospitality. After waiting over half an hour for our food we asked for the check. She proceeded to do everything else besides give us the check to the point that we had to flag her down and put our card in her hand in order to leave. If I came back and Alice was there, I would leave read more

Great fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. Service was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again

I Yelped "lunch" in South Haven and this place came up. Figured it was worth a shot. Wd were seated immediately. We only ordered appetizers when we saw they have Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu. They were delicious! I heard a lot of other parties ordering them as well. Asked the server if people come here specifically for the Fried Green Tomatoes and she said they are one of the most requested appetizers. I'd believe it Adam liked the pretzel bites (also one of the most requested appetizers). We also ordered the cheese curds and the fried mushrooms. Cheese Curds were great. Not sure much Tony liked the mushrooms; lots left over. Service was good and drink refills were quick. I think this place is a good and safe option here in South Haven. read more

While in South Haven for vacation, I saw that Kitchen 527 had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I was a little nervous at first, because the floors were sticky and it sort of looked like a dive bar inside. But we were seated quickly and our waitress was so friendly, and before I knew it, she was bringing out our drinks and appetizer: spicy fried pickles. They were SO good! We then ordered our meals: breaded walleye with hush puppies, fried chicken, potato salad, and onion rings. Everything was delicious. Even though pretty much everything we ate was fried, nothing was greasy or overly breaded. Despite how it looks, this place is a winner in our books! read more

Came on a week day in January so it wasn't super busy. The pork shoulder didn't look as I expected but it was good! My fried fish was delish as always. We also got the Cranberry Cider that was on tap - kinda smelt and tasted like red wine I think? I really liked it. Also fries 10/10. read more

We used to love Kitchen 527 until the present owner took over. Our first experience with the present owner was bad, but I figured we should give it another try. Our family of six had dinner there last night, and that will be the last time we frequent this restaurant. My husband ordered a dinner - size salad; however it was so small, he had to come home and have a snack. The owner came over to ask how we liked the meal, and when we complained about the size of a dinner salad, he acted like he could care less, saying that no one ever complained about the size before. It was in a soup bowl, hardly enough for a man's dinner. He actually was less sympathtic to our feelings. In addition, I asked for a burger wrapped in lettuce because I am gluten-free. It came with one piece of wilted lettuce. Goodbye Kitchen 527. In this game, two strikes are out. read more

Very underrated, really good burger and Andy the bartender is very friendly. Food comes quick

The burger was good. My only complaints are the waiter got my water from a "hand wash only" sink. And there was lipstick on my glass. And when I watched them wash one,it was dunk in,dunk, dunk and done. No scrubbing nothing not even left in for the time needed to sanitize read more

Put our name down at 6:20pm and we're told 1 hour, walk back in at 7:05 to see and they said it would still be another hour. We checked back in at 7:45 and were told 40 minute. It was 3 hours later and we never got a phone call from them that the table was ready. We stayed downtown the entire night for them to not even call or text us. read more

Food was very average and service was terrible. They re-served an order that was picked at by someone else.

The waitress was nice, but the food is less than bar food. So dang greasy....kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant, its not a good feature... sometimes you just dont want to see who is cooking your food and how dirty the kitchen is...., no good.... Don't eat here. read more

We thought to lunch at 527 because our daughter loves this restaurant in South Haven as they offer a deep-fried grilled cheese sandwich. We were encouraged to stop there after discovering adequate parking behind the store with a back entrance handy. (SoHa very busy during tourist season.) We found the restaurant very poorly lit and somewhat rundown, but, unperturbed, we ordered Cobb salad with chicken and Sliced, smoked pork shoulder on a pretzel bun with fries. The Cobb salad was declared pretty tasty, but the pork sandwich was off with poor bread to meat ratio, anemic pickles and stale, canned onion rings. (For leftover lovers, I saved half the sandwich that I later repurposed the pork for a modified BLT that was better.) The fries were pretty good as they were hot and crisp. read more

This is a bar that sells food! In that context, this was pretty good. However the bar is mostly rail liquor so maybe pub is a better description? You're not going to find much fancier than this in south haven though so beware if you're looking for a "white table cloth" experience. The menu is predominantly fried food. With that being said, the cod, onion rings and fried chicken were pretty good. If I come back, that's going to be my exact order. The cod was fresh, the batter was fluffy and had a great crunch. The onion rings were your standard flour batter and came a little over-done which I really liked. The chicken was breaded in a cornmeal batter (I think) - really crispy! All wonderful. They also had blue gill which was fried as well, and although I love fresh blue Gill, the batter was a bit overpowering and you missed out on the flavor of the fish. They have a few non-fried options which were a salmon burger and the regular burgers. Ambivalent reviews from the party. The side salad was pretty dismal.. but again think "bar that sells food" and you'd expect that. Overall, one of the better spots in SoHa. I'd love if they served a few more non-fried options though. read more
