We recently stumbled upon this High Dive Kitchen and Bar - what a nice surprise!! We've been in twice in two weeks and have found this spot cozy, super friendly, and very delicious!! Great menu with lots of variety! Great drink menu! Everything we've tried has been great!! This spot is definitely worth a stop! (If only the downtown parking situation wasn't such a beast! But High Dive is worth the feat of finding a nearby spot!) I highly recommend the wings - some of the best we've had in town!! We love doing half and half: lemon pepper and sweet heat with the ranch and blue cheese! Their fries are also way good!! Regular or their truffle style!! We stopped at Highdive for a late afternoon snack while we were in Kalamazoo, and it was an excellent choice! We shared their truffle fries and they were delicious--a perfect blend of truffle, parmesan and salty goodness. The place seemed pretty chill too, lots of folks hanging out and getting drinks. Had a great experience at HighDive Kitchen + Bar! We started with the MegaPretzel and Beer Cheese, which was absolutely delicious--perfectly baked pretzel with rich, creamy cheese that had just the right amount of tang. For mains, two of us ordered the BYOB Smash Burger, which was tasty and cooked just right, while the other two had the Reuben and really enjoyed them. I also had an Espresso Martini, and it was fantastic--smooth, well-balanced, and a great complement to the meal. Our server, Katlyn, was fabulous! We were shocked to learn it was her first day because she was so attentive and friendly. She made our experience even better! Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back! read more

Service was poor on a night that was not very busy. We asked for our table to be cleaned off as there was food on it and on the seats. A staff member wiped it down with the same dingy, dirty cloth she had just used on a nearby table. Our food was barely warm when served, but no one ever came back to check on us. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told "we don't have one--it's just us." Well, certainly one is needed. read more

First time here and we will be back! Haven't been somewhere in a long time where everything and I mean everything exceeded our expectations! We sat right away. Got served drinks right away. Manhattan was delicious! Took our orders right away! Got our appetizer (can you feel where I'm going here..?) and food promptly. The food was hot, tasted great, filled us up, and was what we wanted! The salmon was cooked perfectly, soaking in a light buttery sauce. Steak had smoked blue cheese crumbles on top and wow! That added a whole new flavor to the med rare steak. The redskjn potatoes- ok I don't know what they did! Almost like roasted, then crispy, then smashed, then a cheesy/garlicy sauce was dribbled on the top!!! I mean come on!! I had an excellent experience when my wife and I dropped in here on the Sunday after Cinco de Mayo. You read that correctly, there is at least one restaurant open in Kalamazoo on a Sunday, so look no further. The service was excellent - we sat at the bar and Courtney was the bartender that helped us. She engaged me in a wonderful conversation about the WWF, yes we reminisced about growing up in the 90s, AND she made great recommendations for food and drink. The food itself was excellent too. They were still serving their Cinco de Mayo specials, so we got queso and pico, a quesadilla and then I went off the Mexican specials and for the caprese sandwich with grilled chicken. The fries were awesome, all of the ingredients were high quality, and I will 100% be coming back to try more stuff. Cool bar, great staff, great food. read more

We had a nice first time here! I think they're short staffed today, as our waitress seems to be the only one on the floor. We weren't in a rush, so the wait time was fine. We had an Oliver burger - delish - with fries. Our friend had a plain chicken breast (off menu, as they are a finicky eater). It isn't a giant menu, but we all came away happy. The music isn't too loud, the tvs are little, so the sports/poker wasn't in-your-face. Nice place! read more

Don't understand why this has 4 Stars. Appetizers were straight from a bag of frozen processed food from Gordon's. Service was fine. Coleslaw was decent smash burger was good but the "bells beer battered fish" was just heavily breaded almost burnt frozen breaded fish from, I'd have to say Gordon's. The attempt at bang bang shrimp was not good at all. At least at the chain restaurant that made it popular you can't tell it's frozen shrimp. This was heavily breaded almost popcorn shrimp that was coated in sweet tai chili sauce. In the future I'll save my $ and get better food for less $ down the street. read more

Went in for dinner Sunday as we were staying at the Raddison. Disappointed they had no chicken wings and no Alfredo. I actually wanted some lemon pepper wings. However, the mussels were really good. The boom shrimp and slaw were good combined together. The fried mushrooms were dripping with oil, but flavor was good. I had the blue burger. Very messy, but the patties had good flavor and the fries had decent. Had an Orange peel drink which you really couldn't define any clear individual flavor: orange or peach. It was a bit loud but we didn't have to shout to hear each other. Good variety of food and drinks on the menu. We missed happy hour which ended at 5. I ordered the salmon with a glass of Merlot. First time in and didn't know what to expect; this location has has its share of mediocre restaurants. But we were pleasantly surprised by High Dive! Hub and I sat in the front window on Friday night after 8. The space was busy but not overcrowded. Service was fast and friendly; I feel bad that I don't recall our server's name because he was fantastic. Cracked jokes with my husband, who loves that stuff... Anyway... on top of great service, the food was wonderful. I had a large house salad with salmon, and the hub had a black & blue steak with truffle fries that he swapped out for the standard potato in the menu. Everything came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. The salmon (always a risky option for me because some people just don't know how to cook it) was delicious, seasoned nicely and grilled with just enough "crisp" on top. Hub's steak (not pictured, sorry) was mid-rare as requested, and he was thrilled with the mound of truffle fries on his plate. He even ate all the green beans. The bar has several beers on tap (we had Bell's Two Hearted, because it's the best) and a decent cocktail list. Wine list is sparse. Will absolutely go back. read more

Our first time here for dinner. I ordered the shrimp po boy with fries and hubby ordered the perch with fries and coleslaw. The fries were cold and rubbery. The shrimp was super small and mostly breading. The lightly breaded perch was good but the coleslaw was way too warm. Our waitress did not come back by to refill our drinks or to hear our complaints about their food as she was outside at the back patio serving others. To pay $32 for dinner and leave hungry because the food was not good is very disappointing. read more

We gave them 20 for a 10 dollar ticket they didn't bring us change claiming they signed us up for the " tripler" which is a FREE promotion currently. I was shocked to go in for lunch and have the manager be very rude to me about my food order. My bun was smashed down and I had an old soggy piece of lettuce on it and a very small tomato. She stated that she would fix it for me. After 20 minutes I asked if it's almost done, I had a 5 minute walk back to work and was going to be late. She then brought it to me several minutes later, rudely slamming it to the table then told me not to blame them for my request to have my order fixed. I then stated that I needed it to go now and that's why I said I was going to be late. She said that I should have told her. I finally got my food to go, got to work and went to eat it and it was obviously smashed on purpose. Rude and bad service. The other 2 times prior were not a bad experience. I'm not sure if the blond lady worked as a prison guard at one point, but she would make a good one. read more

The service is absolutely abysmal. Our party of 4 got in there and ordered a meal each, and it was brunch mind you so there's no reason it should've taken over 35 minutes to come out. We got French toast, avacado toast, grilled cheese, and a breakfast burrito. We sat there for an hour and 20 minutes until we finally decided to just pay for our drinks and leave. When we told the server there was not one "I'm sorry" or "I apologize for the inconvenience" it was almost like we were in the wrong for not waiting an hour and a half for a damn burrito and French toast. 2 other parties left before their food arrived while we were in there as well. The place wasn't even busy either, there were maybe 8 people in the entire restaurant and that's being generous. I really hope the manager or the owner sees this because that service today was absolutely unacceptable. read more
