Sometimes you know you're in the right place before you even sit down. The smell that hit us when we walked into Lake Street Eats immediately made us look at each other and say, "Yep... we're eating here." It was our first visit, and the bartender quickly welcomed us, asked how we were enjoying the Bridgman area, and made us feel right at home. You could tell he genuinely enjoyed being there, joking with what seemed like several regulars seated around the bar. That kind of atmosphere is hard to fake. We started with the cheese curds, and I have one request for the owners: please bottle whatever dipping sauce comes with them. The portion was generous, and I'd give the cheese curds a solid 9/10 on the stretch meter, which I consider an important scientific measurement. We paired them with a local IPA and a Modelo while taking in the relaxed neighborhood vibe. Between the friendly staff, local décor, full bar, and laid-back atmosphere, it felt like one of those places where locals become regulars. The only minor downside was that it was pretty warm inside during our visit, but it was also a warm day outside, so it didn't take away from the experience. Next time we're in Bridgman, we'll be aiming for one of the outdoor tables. We'll definitely be back--and probably ordering those cheese curds again. read more

Absolutely gas every time I've been there the last 2 years. Corn dip is nuts, blackened chicken sandwich is poppin. I LOVE good food in in Michigan. We, as a state lack good flavor. This place gives an option for everyone, and yet everyone at the table will want a bite. Great job LSE. Please teach your servers the difference between giardiniera and au jus though. First timer, drink selection was pretty good! If I could go back i would get a burger the steak on my salad was gross and I didn't eat it. The grey pickled onions on the Caesar salad were a weird grey color. The server was nice, the bar area is a good spot to post up for awhile. They don't allow dogs, so I headed to neighboring Emma Hearth & Market, and I'm so glad I did because it was delicious. My family ate here while I headed to Emma, and they enjoyed their meal. But, they ordered sides of soup instead of fries with their main course. They were not told that this would be an extra $2 per person, so when the final bill came, it was a lot more than the anticipated cost and what they expected to be. This little eatery is located in the heart of Bridgeman. On this occasion they had just been over run by patrons. I really appreciated that the bar manager told us that the kitchen was significantly backed up and it could be a good 45 minute wait for food. The facility is very clean. The team was very friendly. They worked together well to help each other out as they were over loaded. Because of the wait...we had plenty of cell phone time. Unfortunately we couldn't get the WiFi to respond. The construction of the building I think significantly hindered our cell service....so we waited on food. My wife ordered the chicken fingers. The meat was moist and tender. The breading was crisp and flavorful. The French fries were nicely seasoned and crispy as well. I had the wings. The deep fried the wings and poured teriyaki sauce over them. The wings were fried appropriately - not too long. There were 8 moderate sized wings in this entree. The teriyaki sauce didn't cover all the wing surfaces. Therefore, you had to try and mop up any extra sauce with the wing to get some flavor. The teriyaki sauce was thicker and sweet. It had a nice teriyaki flavor without being overpowering. read more

We're new to the neighborhood and we were excited to see Lake Street Eats in downtown Bridgman. They have a cute patio area and I was really excited about the menu. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, the angry BLT and the Duck Bacon Street Corn Wontons. The sandwiches were good and I really enjoyed the wontons (probably the most). The staff inside was friendly. We opted to get takeaway and eat across the street at the Brewery because unfortunately Lake Street Eats does not allow dogs on the patio. read more

Passing by town at dinner time on the Interstate during a long trip, and my son spotted this as a highly rated option. I'd give this 3.5 stars if possible; it was an okay meal, but not memorable (except for some tasty poutine as starters). The beer list was good. We were well fed, with decent service, and if I lived in town, I could see eating here semi-regularly, but I'm not sure I'd go to any great effort to revisit if passing by again. read more

We stopped here during a road trip, looking for a place to grab a quick bite. This place has a cozy interior and a great outdoor space, which we would have enjoyed had it not been raining at the time. It's located in a cute "main street" type feel area, and is obviously a local favorite. The lobster bisque was served hot and creamy, and packed full of lobster. The Grilled Asian Wedge salad was fresh and filling, and the cook was kind enough to swap out the iceberg for a spring mix instead (because I wanted the flavors but am not a fan of iceberg). While the daily specials were posted on a chalk board in the dining area, which admittedly I didn't notice, it would have been nice for our waiter to mention them at the start. While the food and drinks here were all excellent, the staff here are the real gems. I'm afraid I do not remember names (I'm so bad at names!) but the owner who was also tending bar was the loveliest of ladies. She was so welcoming to my husband and I, out-of-towners, and I enjoyed conversing while we were sat at the bar. The young man bartender was also fantastic. Attentive, adventurous (trying a new drink I shared with him - and he nailed making on his first try!), and gave us great suggestions on places to check out in local St. Joseph. The white chicken chili and pot roast were both excellent, and my hubs really enjoyed his burger. We enjoyed ourselves so much we went back the next day again. I finally got to enjoy a Black's Hard Cider - so glad they had it available. The butternut squash soup was good and the chicken fingers were delicious. Thanks for memorable experiences! The first thing that has to be said is how great the service was for us. We stopped on a roadtrip back home after visiting family in Illinois for Christmas and had to give our 1 year old a break from the car seat. So I took our 3 year old in to stretch his legs and order some takeout. The staff was so incredibly thoughtful and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and the food was good. We were disappointed in the food and the service. Our server got lost between coming to our table...and there was only three people in the place. I got a burger that I ordered medium rare and it came out very rare. Since we could not find our server...I felt stuck. So about 4-5 years back, I used to come here when the old owners owned the place. At that time the food taste fresh, it was probably prepared fresh daily, or as fresh as it could be. There was an actual chef. I just feel now that everything is prepped, bagged into portions, and then frozen. Every time I go, I am disappointed. It's not even close to the way the food used to taste. We got the lobster bisque soup last time and I swear it was a frozen portion that was microwaved. My wife had the steak, and it was not even a good cut, and it also seemed like it had been frozen and heated to prepare. The vegetables aren't even fresh. They are also frozen. This time we both had the Lake Street eat burger and fries. The fries were very tasty but of course they were frozen and cooked in a fryer and it is really hard to mess up fries. The burgers on the other hand seemed as if they were frozen patties that were made when we ordered and I also noticed that the onions had been portioned and frozen, because they definitely not we're not fresh cut. They were actually still kind of cold when I received the sandwich and had extra moisture dripping from the sandwich when I cut in to it that was not grease. It was actually water from the onions because they were not caramelized, they were just cooked from frozen until, the point where they were about room temperature, but still had some coldness in them. When I see a place like this it really disappoints me because my wife and I have tried to eat there four times now and every time it taste like fast food, or something that has been frozen and reheated. The last couple times we went, We got an appetizer and two meals and spent around $80 for two people. I am not opposed to spending this much for a meal. If it is made fresh from scratch and has great flavor to it, but this was not the case. I feel that they are doing what they can just to get by and trying to make the food look like it's more than what it is. The hamburgers came on a brioche which was not bad, but the burger meat had no flavor whatsoever. It was very bland. The menu claims that it is a mixture of three different meats, one of those being Chuck, the other being brisket and I don't remember exactly what the third one was but if they are combining tasty meats like that, I know that if they are fresh, they will definitely have good flavor. It is with a heavy heart that I say this, I am really disappointed because this place used to be very good to get food at. Since they've opened the other half of it, it seems like they concentrate more on being a sports bar than a restaurant. I hope the owners take this to heart and don't think that I am being critical just to be a jerk. I say all this because I want to see them improve and actually earn their customers with great flavor, and not the reputation of a restaurant that once was iconic. This reminds me of something I've seen in kitchen nightmares. To where they serve things that are frozen or not very fresh and it is typically because not a lot of people eat the food so they don't tend to keep it fresh because it will spoil so they freeze everything. I can tell you though if I'm paying $35+ per person for a steak dinner that I would expect everything to be fresh and never frozen. There are other places that are in this price range that actually serve grass fed beef and organic fresh vegetables although I would love to see that here I would just be happy to get something that's fresh and not frozen. I guess just take a little pride in your food and it preparation. read more

We went to Lake Street Eats tonight for the first time and we ate outside (which was wonderful)! Oh my goodness, so yummy! Fred and I shared the Vodoo Shrimp and it was very voodoo! I had the Tri Tip Steak & Blue Cheese Salad and Fred had the Italian Beef. Both were outstanding. Richard was our waiter and he was fantastic as well! We will be back for sure! read more
