We visited Watermark for the first time back in April for the crown elimination karaoke event that they put out on about every two months or so. We're from the Grand Rapids area, so it was a bit of a trek being about an hour and a half away. GR has plenty of karaoke options in the surrounding area and a ton of breweries - none that I'm aware of mix the two, nor have anything as unique as this. Seeing as it was our first time here, we didn't know what to expect. It was pretty packed, actually pretty hard to find seating. Thankfully, we were eventually able to get a spot near the stage. One thing to note is that they don't serve food; however there's usually a food truck onsite, so that's nice, if you happen to like the type of food on that particular day. The place was pretty packed, of course it was a Saturday, so wasn't a big surprise. Unfortunately, a few of the adult beverages were unavailable, apparently due to the 10-year anniversary the day before. I first tried the dark bodega Mexican lager, it was good, but not really what I was in the mood for. So, I decided to try something a little different, I'm glad I did. I went with the peanut butter & jelly ale, wow, I was really impressed! I ended up sticking to the PB&J's for the rest of the night. A couple of others in my party, who normally don't like ales, tried the PB&j and thought it was great. All in all, it was a great experience. The karaoke was a blast, some absolutely incredible singers. And I've never seen a crowd so engaged, the place was full of energy, so I'm sure that added to the overall positive experience. If Watermark wasn't so far away, it would definitely be a regular visit for us. We missed the last crowd elimination karaoke event in June, but are planning to make a return trip for the next one in July! read more

We decided to stop at Watermark, because my brother had read that it had the best patio in southwest Michigan. I haven't visited all the breweries in southwest Michigan so I'm not entirely sure that's correct but it is a great patio. Decided to stop at Watermark on the way back from the lake based on the photos of great potential outdoor space and cute logo. The space is very nice. Didn't appear to have food, but had a food truck. We had a light beer and sour, which were both good/average. That said, I will second the recent review about the inclusiveness of this space, which I only saw after our visit. My partner and I were openly stared at by patrons during our time at Watermark. While no one was explicitly rude to us, the vibe was off. If you're a queer person looking to grab a craft beer, I would recommend another establishment. read more

Nate and I stopped at Watermark Brewing on our drive back to Grand Rapids from Chicago recently. He'd tried one of their beers a few years ago and really liked it, so it was a great opportunity to stop in an area we don't normally visit. Watermark Brewing is just a bit off the highway and we found street parking right away. The outdoor space is expansive, with a grassy lawn and umbrellas for shade. There was a cute food truck outside the entrance - I think they have food trucks every day they're open. We weren't hungry, but it smelled amazing. They don't offer flights at Watermark, which I always think is kind of weird, but Nate got a couple small pours to try and I got a boozy slushy which was super refreshing. It was fun chatting with the bartender who gave some great recommendations. This spot is very dog and kid friendly - we saw lots of both running around. By far my favorite part of this brewery was the funky claw game and vending machine. Take a close look - you might see something you want... or not. Haha! read more

The grounds are immaculate and fun to sit outside and people watch, sip a beer, and/or bring your furry friends (they seem very dog friendly!). Watermark Brewing is fantastic. The space is amazing. The indoor area is large with many tables and bar seating available. There is also a large covered patio and awesome garden area beyond the patio area. Many different picnic tables in the garden along with Adirondack chairs and a couple fire pits for cooler times of the year. You can always find a spot to hang out and enjoy the beers. The beers are pretty good and fairly priced. They offer a wide variety of styles including lagers, saisons, IPA, sours and more. They also have a slushy machine for frozen beverages. This brewery does not offer food service. There is generally a food truck there, especially on weekends. You can bring in your food as well. The bar staff is friendly and has very quick service. They are happy to provide tastings if you are unsure what you would like to drink. Dogs are welcome! read more

We came here on our way back to Chicago from Ann Arbor. They don't have flights but the bartender let us try a number of beers to figure out what we wanted. I had the brown ale and my friend had one of the sours. We also got BBQ from a food truck out front. The space was so nice - tons inside and a huge outdoor space with picnic tables. Our experience was ok. The beers were ok... nothing really noteworthy in the ones we tried. The entertainment was mid -- was supposed to be a mix of modern jazz to instrumental hip-hop. Watermark is a great place to enjoy a fantastic beer. My favorite is the Slippery Bob Ale for obvious reasons. They do not serve food but most days there are food trucks outside. They have a paper schedule on their bulletin board of the food trucks and they may have it on their website too. The ambience is wonderful, the employees are wonderful and the alcohol is wonderful. A bit off the beaten path, but if you find yourself remotely in the area this one is worth a stop. Kinda looks like it used to be a barn of some sort and then it was gutted and made into this trendy modern brewery complete with reclaimed wood accents throughout. First thing you'll notice if it's a nice day out is the huge lawn out front complete with cornhole and some lounge couches to catch some rays. Great spot to day drink and enjoy the patio. They also have a bunch of picnic style tables in the shade if you don't do too well with direct sunlight. Another thing to note is this spot is dog friendly! So feel free to bring the pups! We did a quick sampler here of their dry hopped saison (Karner Blue), two of their IPAs (Murky Depths & MI Copper Ugly Face), and red IPA (Mission to Mars). All were great and definitely chuckled a bit at some of the beer names. Samplers ran us $2 a pop for 6 oz. Could definitely see myself killing much more time here if I lived closer, but definitely worth a stop if you're a beer lover and enjoy a laid back, pup friendly, spacious environment. Also noticed some special events going on here from some sort of reception / party going on and some flyers for beer yoga which sounded awesome. Definitely keep a look out for those! Real nice set up, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, but with an open wall between the inside and outside. Lots of space to hang out, and TVs at the bar for if sports games are on. All the beers I had were good-murky depths and brown bag special there, and then I got a 4pck of ghostmeal to go. There were several more I'd be willing to try. You do have to close out after each purchase, no open tabs. A little annoying but no big deal, plus ensures you won't forget your credit card there. It's a short drive from the lemon creek winery and apple orchard, so you can stop at both places if you're going to one. If I ever find myself that way again I'd stop there. read more

What a fun place! It's a brewing company, but there are many families that hang out here. The environment is very much one of a "chill place to hang" and have a brew, or a soda if you choose. Different food trucks nightly, inside, outside, or patio seating available. If you are "dog people" this is definitely a place you should go with Rover! . We even got to meet the brewer and had great conversation with him. Attention sour beer lovers this is the place for you!
