I've been coming to Mark III since I was very young with my parents. Now, my husband and I come by occasionally when my tummy insists on nachos. My go to used to be their classic ground beef burrito, but as of recently I have been getting what my dad always ordered growing up-their nachos. The food is not bad but is a little pricey. We have still gone here an handful of times so it isn't too bad. It has been very busy every time we have gone and the staff did a really good job of getting tables cleared and customers whom were waiting sat. The wait staff was very friendly. My biggest complaint is the atmosphere. We sat around some extremely drunk, belligerent and racist people each time we have been here and none of them we cut off or asked to leave. I love this place because it's unique, has excellent service with experienced waitstaff. They have butter mints you can use to bribe your toddlers with if they finish their plate! I do like the vegetarian options, but I'd love to see more vegetarian/healthy options. Gluten free is a BONUS if you offer this on your menu in the Midwest. I have to say the mark lll is the best deal for tex mex in the area . Remodeled and stepped up thier food game . I love the chicken Burritos, chips and fresh fresh salsa are over the top . And thier both 1/2 off durring happy hour .even on Saturday and Sunday. The place just has a new energy , service is above any place we dine at in the area . And it's close to home . My wife and I used to frequent Mark lll about 2 3 times a month before going to the movies. We would go there to have a drink, dinner and play Club Keno and watch the drawing on the monitor. Our favorite place to enjoy a dinner out. The prime rib was excellent, perch dinner was awesome and the shrimp dinner was very good but expensive. Sorry, to say it started going down hill about six months before we moved to Raleigh NC. in 2018. We still went there when in town but after Covid they got rid of the lake perch dinner and vegetable burrito and they just brought back the bomb which I never have had. We recently ate there on June 28th. My prime rib was once again slightly warm, the baked potato was warm but took a while to melt the butter I added. The wife had a burrito that she said was ok. We noticed that they got rid of all the old staff that worked there that we that would come to our table and talk to us like family and they jacked up the price on most items. You know kind of like Cheers the TV show, "Sometimes you like to go where everyone knows your name and everyone is glad you came". Definitely not the place it once was. They do have a few options for vegetarian dishes and the side to come with your sandwich is a veggie, potato, or fries which I appreciate. They were busy so it was a little slow and it made the entire place very loud, we had to yell across the table to hear each other. Because of that, I would recommend going on a week day. read more

They have both a sports bar area as well as a nice family dining room in back. As we entered we were greeted by the friendly staff and promptly seated in the back dining room. I loved the décor and the 70's music (Eagles, Mommas and Poppas, etc.) which added to the atmosphere, but was not so loud as to hinder a conversation with your friends. The menu is quite extensive, but we all decided to go with one of their famous burritos. Mine was with well seasoned shredded beef. I added some refried beans and got it "wet" as recommended (covered with salsa). It was huge, and delicious! Our server was both friendly and efficient. She anticipated what we needed and was always on time. The restrooms were clean as was the entire restaurant. They had clientele of all ages. I was told it was a local favorite, and it was easy to see why. I will definitely go again if in the area and given the chance. read more

I am a regular there and last week it seemed menu was different. I usually get the sirloin and it was not on menu so I thought I would try the nachos. There was hardly any meat no tomato on it. Everyone in the area seems to be crazy about the Mark III so it was time for us to see what the hype was about! We went on a Saturday around 3pm and it was already busy. The food was fast and delicious and the service was remarkably hospitable. We will certainly return! However, I do wish they had fajita veggies. This establishment does not know what it takes to put food out in a timely manner- 45 min. ticket times, this is the 2nd time this happened with a longer than normal (more than 25 minutes)ticket time,and the kitchen is so small I am surprised they get orders out at all. Our server was nice and made excuses for this and clearly this happens all the time. We have been coming here for their wet steak burritos since the early 80's. When we moved to the Kalamazoo area, we tried to find a place with something comparable and never could. Today's Friday outing was with Matthew. We decided to go to Mark III for dinner. Just Matthew and dad. Dad likes time with both his sons but also likes to have one on one time. One of the reasons I like Mark III is the food. The other is the people who work there. They are so nice to us. And always so accommodating. Matthew's sounds never bother them. They also directly acknowledge him. They welcome both my sons when we come in and say goodbye when we leave. Both Matthew and Kyle like sitting at the bar when they go there just with dad. I think with Kyle it started with him feeling more like an adult. With Matthew, I think it's the way he gets to look around and see everything. For many years Mark III has been our favorite restaurant. We don't go there to often because we like to keep it ast as a special treat. As for the other customers. Only one time have we run into a rude person. I got the feeling his 2 friends were embarrassed. But generall the people sitting at the bar with us are friendly and understanding. The food is pretty good here for a place that says grill, bar, and motel. The salads are big and the steak and chicken on them is grilled and has good flavor. Steak tacos are good. So. I was brought here on behalf of my parents, but there were... a few interesting things that happened. First, the waitress told us that the soup of the day was "Italian Wedding Soup". The first soup brought out was beans and sausage, I believe, which we sent back. The actual soup of the day was a taco soup-esque soup, which was very spicy. It was very good, but DEFINITELY was not Italian wedding. I ordered the 12 oz New York Strip with a side salad and baked potato. The steak was... I am unsure of how to describe it other than it tasted just like. Meat. It seemed almost unseasoned, and putting salt on it helped. I ordered the steak medium, but it came out more medium-rare. To me, this is fine, as I like both, but it wasn't quite what I had ordered. The baked potato was my biggest complaint. Never have I gone somewhere that serves a baked potato still wrapped in the tinfoil with butter in the small portable packets. I had to ask for cheese and some ranch to add to it. I did not get the opinion that my server knew what she was doing. All in all, about a 4/10. Could have been worse, and after things were fixed, the food was decent. This was my 2nd visit here to try their new brunch menu. I will not discuss the first visit because everyone can have an off day just starting a new menu. This is Easter - no reservations, party of 2. Arrived just after opening and it was not yet busy. The server was nice and did a good job. The food, eh, no words. I ordered two eggs over easy, hashbrowns, bacon, toast and a filet mignon. Waited about 35 minutes for food. One of the eggs was broken and was like hard boiled (did not eat). The hashbrowns were ice cold - not a hint a warm - just cold. Ice cold toast up buttered, served with cold butter. Have you EVER tried to spread cold butter on cold toast? No, no one wants to be served that. The bacon - 2 strips were good and the 3rd tasted like it was soaked in maple syrup. The filet was cooked as ordered. I so want to love this restaurant. The price is more than fair for the amount of food. What good is the price when you cant eat the food you are served. I am not sure this is worth a 3rd trip. Hope they can figure out how to serve the correct order and serve it in a way that you would want to eat. That is all. So disappointed. read more

They supposedly take reservations, but they are not reservations. The reservation is considered a suggestion that is supposed to benefit you on the waitlist. I made, what I thought were reservations that night before for 6:30pm. Friends of ours walked up at 5:45pm the same day and got seated before us. The food is good but should have more spice to it. Our waiter was nice although very spacey. Forgot to bring us hot sauce and had to ask several times. Needed hot sauce as the Mexican food is so bland. The ingredients seem high quality, they just need to use more spice. If this food was spicer, I would rate it 5 stars. Weak beer list. MI is known for craft beer--they should get more local beer--Silver Harbor or Watermark for examples. This place could be great with a few easy improvements. Love the old school decor. read more

Always good service and great food at the Mark. Margaritas as delicious, especially the slushy kind. My favorite is the raspberry swirled with the regular with a salt rim. The grilled shrimp appetizer is worth ordering, you may want to order two so you don't have to share. Carne asada is cooked to perfection, I made mini fajitas out of mine. There was enough for two people if you had an app before your main meal. Plenty of TV's in the bar to keep up with what whatever sport you're interested in. This restaurant can accommodate large groups too, we've had our staff Christmas parties here in the past. Good time had by all.
