What a great spot! We used to live in the area and I hate that we didn't go here more. We came here during a visit with some friends and vowed to come back on our next trip. The Grille is inside of the clubhouse at Harbor Shores Golf, which is a beautiful facility to start with. At the Grille: Drinks were marvelous and the food was Delicious! They had vegetarian choices, which was huge for me (hard to find in small towns). The Grille is situated so that every seat has a phenomenal view of the absolutely beautiful golf course. Great food, good drinks, amazing views, decent prices, and the service was delightful. See why we are coming back? read more

Beautiful setting at the golf course. Nice patio area for outdoor dining. Our server, Nikki, was great! We had the perch - one fried, one sautéed- both were delicious! We started with salads - Caesar and Micro Green - both were very fresh and tasty. The menu is quite large and there are several items we will try on our next visit! read more

Stopped at the club to inquire about golf. We had a beer and there were 3 beers on tap from a local brewery, North Pier Brewery. The staff was extremely friendly. Hint: they said golf on Sunday was pretty open, but no beer girl until noon. read more

Beautiful atmosphere overlooking one of Michigan's premier golf courses. Although the course was closed for the season, The Grille stayed open till the New Year where we enjoyed their excellent Surf n Turf and Pasta Primavera entrees cooked perfectly for our "last meal of the year." Met their executive chef, Mark Smith who was very friendly and knowledgeable explaining his menu choices and pairing options with the local wines and beers that they offer. They said they were going to be re-opening come March 1st tentatively and we cant wait to go back and enjoy their seasonal cuisine. We had dinner at this new Restaurant on Saturday night. We started with an appetizer of the Ahi Tuna. The Tuna was rubbery and tasted like it had been frozen for a while. My girlfriend had the Lobster Ravioli and Scallaps. Both of which tasted extremely fishy. I thought she was going to throw up at the table. I had the Chicken and Shrimp. The Chicken was dry and overcooked. The shrimp again tasted like it had been frozen a while. There is a PGA tour event scheduled here in a month and I hope to god they are not serving food like this then... Epic Failure! read more

Dining room nice and attractive but the food the same old awful prepared boxed items. I had a Cobb salad and told the waiter that the salad greens were wilted, old and tasted like algae. It's not acceptable in this establishment or other restaurants to have food served like this Chef Mark is from Point O Woods Golf and Country Club and prepared awful boxed and non-invented items there also. They took on an old chef with no culinary skill. Good luck getting rid of him. Too bad it was a disappointment. read more

We are "local" people who used to enjoy this restaurant but who must sadly say to not bother going here at noon if: a) you work and b) have only an hour to spare. We tried to eat here last week at noon to celebrate a co-worker's birthday. The service was abominable while groups of golfers were served and on their way. All we got were apologies and the casting of blame on a brand new waitress who was overloaded with tables. (And there were only 2 waitresses for the entire dining room) This restaurant's growing reputation of poor service was reinforced by a golfer friend who came over to say her weekly group of golfers usually avoid eating there because of such poor service. That solidified it. We'll never return and we want to spread the word to the folks who think they are managing the Harbor Shores Golf Club that dissatisfaction with their management is growing. By the way. The food, when it was served 1 hour later was very good. Our sympathies to the chef who is ultimately suffering from negative publicity. Karen J. read more

Food was good, but service is disappointing. I don't need to be asked 7 times if I want a refill on my water. It's free, just fill it. I also didn't really enjoy one of the guys (employee) adjusting his zipper and shoving his hands down his pants to tuck in his shirt while hanging out in the dining room. For what you pay for the food, I would appreciate a better dining experience. read more

Just came back from a wonderful "Sunday dinner" at The Grille at Harbor Shores. I must say I went with a bit of trepidation based on other Yelpers. However, I had read in MailMax about a new chef at the Harbor Shores Golf course restaurant. I'm sorry I do not know the lady's name but her food is terrific! Bravo Chef! Here's what we (4 of us) tried: grilled peach, beratta, arugula , shaved almonds, and honey dressing salad. Corn bisque soup,Chicken biscuit sandwich, beef medallions, peach & ham & almond flatbread, and a steak & onion croquette salad. All were quite enjoyable! We will be back. Get the word out, this place is serving great food! Or should I keep it to myself? You do not have to be a golfer to eat here. read more

From the spicy Bloody Mary to the last bite of the Steak and Caramelized Onion Salad, my lunch was delightful .The steak was perfectly grilled, and very generous. The Caramelized Onions appear in the form of croquettes served on the side. The only thing standing in the way of a five star rating is the service was slow. Our server did apologize, so I do appreciate the recognition . Dining on the outdoor patio was a beautiful setting. Look forward to returning soon. read more

We went for dinner on Wed. Nite and ate on the patio. Great venue! The appetizers, martini's and wines by the glass were great. We had the flank steak special and took half of it home because there was so much. We got a complimentary strawberry rhubarb cobbler that was to die for. On Friday, July 24th, 2015, our family had a rehearsal dinner for our daughter's wedding at The Grille at Harbor Shores Golf Club in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The food, atmosphere, service and staff totally exceeded our expectations. Our daughter's new husband is from the Austin, Texas area, and his relatives, including his eighty two year old grandfather said that The Grille provided the best prime rib they had ever tasted. Texans love their beef and barbecue, so this was extremely high praise! The beef medallions and chicken were just as delicious. We would give The Grille at Harbor Shores our highest recommendation without reservation or qualification for your rehearsal dinner or wedding reception. This was my second time visiting the Grille at Harbor Shores. The outside patio has a pleasant view of the driving range and the putting green, I enjoy watching other golfers!! The food is great! The menu offers something other than the typical flare of burgers and a Caesar salad. I had the medallion steak salad, the presentation was terrific, very fresh and I could cut the medallions with my fork. Overall the food was very good and actually better than my visit last year. The disappointment: I felt like I was on an island waving for service. I would have thought at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon the service would have been great being the only seated table on the patio. The food was fresh and well prepared so I will visit again. Next time I will come prepared and lower my expectations on service, unfortunately. read more

Slow does not even begin to explain the terrible service. Good luck getting your water refilled or the attention of one of the apparent 2 to 3 waitresses on duty. When they did come to our table they got our order wrong. I do not say this lightly, but I'm sad for the community that already is lacking in decent restaurant choices. read more

Sat forever at lunch waiting on salad. When we asked they said salad sandwich come out together. Never asked if we wanted it that way. Chef said that's the way we do it so basically too bad how you want it. Done it that way for two years so you are wrong. Very condescending. Been members here from beginning. The new chef, Sheryl, is wonderful. The staff is very friendly with good suggestions from the new menu. The catfish over cheese grits was delicious. The bread pudding was amazing. All homemade sauces, salad dressings and desserts. We have been here four times this spring.and will return often. It can be a little hard for non-locals to find but persevere. The setting is lovely. The outside patio is beautiful and the musician was very good. We went with a group--putting round tables together makes for an awkward seating/chatting arrangement. Six different entrees were ordered and everyone was satisfied with their food. Pork chops got rave reviews! The service needs to be more consistent with water and iced tea refills. Would I go back? Had a great lunch. Tilapa with aspagras and coucous was one of the specials. It was very fresh, well prepared and served hot. Desserts were yummy too. Definitely will be returning. Prices range from $10 and up. I was told the chef uses fresh veggies etc and the menu would be changed to reflect what is in season. read more
