Wow! Totally surprised by this unassuming place... well we almost missed it - sign upfront is down but the place is there ! I had the grilled steak salad tossed with sautéed potatoes & mushrooms in ranch over salad greens & onions, topped with mozzarella! I haven't had such a DELICIOUS salad with warm ingredients in a loooong time. My friends had the gyro, the clam chowder and the portabello mushroom fries and Reuben's sandwich. This was standard bar food served by friendly staff. This place is a bar/restaurant with a divider in the middle. I had chicken strips and a rum and coke. The chicken strips and fries were tasty, but the coleslaw was strange (it was overly sweet). The rum and coke was pretty strong and only $3. My husband had the cajun chicken sandwich which was really good. We had an appetizer of chicken quesadillas that was huge and really good. (The chicken was seasoned, so it was tastier than normal). Stopped in for game 5 of 2015 NHL championship. Wait staff was excellent. Ordered potato skins for an appetizer, see picture. 2.5 Idaho baking potatoes came out! And they were excellent, though they put red onions in them. Son had wingless BBQ chicken, he enjoyed them. I had the house burger which was very good. Only complaint we had, and reason we left after 1st period of game is that we couldn't hear the game. They just have volume on the TVs. They need a sound system. Overall though, very nice. I was kind of surprised to see that anyone had reviewed this place since it is literally in the middle of nowhere. While on vacation in New Buffalo this week, my boyfriend and I needed a spot for dinner that was not as expensive as the restaurants in NB. We ventured out to Three Oaks hoping to find something. I think this is probably the only restaurant in Three Oaks. This is basically a bar that also serves food. As soon as we walked in, we were seated and asked right away if we would like anything to drink. I just had water, but my boyfriend had a rum and coke since they were on special for $2. My boyfriend and I normally split our entrees. So, I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich with cheese and bacon with fries. My boyfriend ordered the Italian beef dip with fries. Our food did not take long at all. We both loved both sandwiches and were pleasantly surprised. The chicken was very juicy and very well cooked. The bacon on that sandwich was also really crispy. The Italian beef sandwich with cheese was also very pleasing. The meat was shaved thin and was juicy and not dried out all. We both agreed that the fries were also very tasty. The atmosphere is a little odd. It is your typical "outskirts of town" bar. There were a few locals at the bar. The bar is decorated in sports memorabilia which can be fun to look at. You could tell that the locals all were giving us the "eye" when we walked in though! However, don't let these things deter you from eating here, because the food is wonderful. My boyfriend and I agreed that this was probably the best place that we ate at while on vacation. Our meals and his two drinks totaled to less than $30. I am very disappointed in our dinner tonight. The wings tasted fishy as if they were fried in grease that the fish was also fried in. The blue cheese and cole slaw was terrible. And my daughter bit into a raw chicken strip. They did make her more that did turn out fully cooked, but they didn't offer a discount to our bill after my daughter had chewed on a raw piece of chicken. When I asked about it... Absolutely appalling experience. Arrived at 7:15 and greeted by our wonderful waitress (Becca). Drinks and apps arrived on time. And that's where it ends. Multiple times were were told our food was coming. Tick tock, your food is coming, tick tock the kitchen is backed up. How we ask? It's empty in here!! Finally at 8:30 we ask to speak to the manager and get an exact time for when our food would be out... 15 minutes. At this time we cancelled 2 orders, half our party left, hungry. And we waited. 15 more minutes. No food and no manager. Finally our food arrives and we ask again to see the manager AGAIN. Our poor waitress continues to apologize. We know this was not her fault. The fact the manager REFUSED to come out and see us speaks volumes for the leadership and ownership at this restaurant. The coward manager NEVER came out to speak with us. I have never had an experience like this. Anyone looking for an amazing hard working waitress by weekend/ school teacher by week seek out Becca and rescue her from the disastrous restaurant management at Feather Bones. Please note we did not take this horrible experience out on our waitress, she deserved a great tip, this was not her fault at all. Very much a neighborhood place where everyone seems to know each other. Loose compliance w/state-recommended guidelines regarding masks (for all employees and those entering the restaurant) as similar businesses (complied w/) in the same area. Bartender/s and wait staff seldom "masked" as they wait on customers even now and during the depths of Covid-19. Am frequently the only customer wearing a mask upon entering the establishment which is a small family-owned business that caters to a locale clientele and operates under the radar of local, county and state government. In spite of a modest rehab completed during the state-mandated Covid-19 closure, Featherbone offers a mediocre menu that is very much out of date w/current culinary trends. This place is like a sports bar with pretty average food, except they serve their burgers on pretzel rolls and that makes a world of difference. The burger is otherwise just average, but the pretzel roll adds a nice salty, chewy quality. I've been trying to find pretzel rolls ever since then and may have to resort to making my own for grilling this summer. My mom and aunt were with me and weren't super thrilled with their meals. I don't remember what they had, but it definitely wasn't the meal of a lifetime. read more

I accidentally found this restaurant just by driving around. I'm so glad I stopped. The food and service was excellent. I had the crispy chicken bacon ranch wrap, my husband had the prime rib sandwich and my mom had the Greek salad. Huge portions. I am slowly becoming a regular at the Featherbone (or at least I'm aging quickly enough for my ID to no longer be requested) and have yet to have a poor experience at the restaurant. It is true that it is a small-town watering hole, but definitely not the only one located in Three Oaks. Locals have a few options, especially with New Buffalo being a mere 10 minutes down the road, but they CHOOSE to wine and dine at the Featherbone for good reasons. The atmosphere is comfy with banners and memorabilia of many local high schools and colleges. There are TVs located in convenient spaces for guests to view the most popular sporting events. Drinks are priced to move, and there is a good variety of brews on tap and local wines to savor. Service can be slow at times when it is busy, as with any restaurant, but with the friendliness of locals and servers, the time actually goes pretty quickly. In all my times at the Featherbone I have never experienced poor customer service, nor have I witnessed another customer being treated unfairly or getting upset at the speed of service. This might have a lot to do with the quality of the restaurant's food though. Featherbone does not offer your straight-out-of-the-freezer finger bites like other bars might. Each item is cooked to order, and most are quite obviously made fresh (give or take an appetizer.) My friends and I tend to stick to the burgers and wraps, all of which are fantastic. Plus THE FRIES. Seriously, I think my boyfriend lived off those things for a year... So delicious! I also highly recommend the pizzas. On Mondays they are only $5, and far exceed that price in quality. Pizza Mondays at the Featherbone have come to be a tradition, and one which I see only continuing now that Oberon is on tap. Keep up the great work, Featherbone staff! read more

Featherbone was exactly what we were looking for! No frills but a good vibe. It's a "dive bar" but I mean that as a compliment. $2 for a lightbeer- that's what I'm talking about. We got the sidewinder potatoes as an app- a great local choice. The are almost like a cross between wedged and curly fries. The chili was really good! The garlic burger was a standard burger...but the garlic sauce was DELICIOUS! Lick the plate good. Made a standard burger an amazing experience. The price point is very reasonable. 2 drinks, an app, and a burger was $22. Can't beat that in Chicagoland! read more

Since this was the only place in town, I wasn't sure what we were in for. It was about 10:30 in the morning and there was 3 people at the bar and one eating. The menu was all over the place. When I saw the wet burritos I wanted to leave. I got the 1/2lb burger and my friend had the bbq burger. They were fantastic. Cooked just right and the condiments were fresh as the bread was. The fries were crunchy and really tasty. They offered onion peels. Pass on those. They were really greasy and the sauce was horrid. The service was a little slow for such a small place. But It seems that you are just suppose to chill the hell out when your in this town. Everyone was on there front porch swing or the couch in the front yard. I'm glad we weren't swayed by the other yelp reviews. After reading them, and knowing our options were slim the other night, we opted to try it out. We were greeted right away by our waiter. He was quite attentive throughout our stay. Most of our table ordered burgers, which were fantastic, especially the garlic burger having a garlic mayo sauce & french fried onions. The fries too were tasty & loved by all. There were about 3 or 4 other tables being serviced, and the bar area looked lively, probably locals having a good time. The environment was good, and there were several flat screen tvs showing football which kept the kids entertained & talking with us about the plays. Good place for families, great burgers. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in for dinner here last night. BIG MISTAKE! At first everything was okay, except for the screaming babies and loud drunks at the bar. We order our food about 10 minutes after we sit down....then we order a couple drinks.....and a couple more.....and a couple more....and a couple more. We sit there an hour and 20 minutes. We watched an episode of 'two broke girl's', 'Hell's Kitchen', and the news and our food is still not done! The waitress offered no reassurance or explanation. Finally, we decide we're over it and we just want to pay for our drinks and leave. I get up and find our waitress and very politely tell her the situation. "You're food is coming out in just one minute! I'm sorry, our cook quit today.", she says. I go back to the table and tell my boyfriend. He's pissed, we just want to leave...a minute later she brings out my food. Just my food, not even both of our meals! I had order the Parmesan & herb crusted grouper, which wasn't crusted with anything really....just looked like a plain piece of fish, served with a baked potato that was a weird, grey color (looked pretty old) and nasty looking canned corn. I tell the bartender, who brought the food to the table,"This doesn't look very good. I'm sorry, I don't want to pay $16 for this." (Keep in mind my boyfriend STILL does not have his pizza). Her response was,"you ordered it, you have to pay for it," in a very crappy tone. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! We went back and forth for a minute, I even spoke to the owner, who was just as unreasonable. The owner says,"The ticket time on that was 35 minutes, you HAVE NOT been waiting that long!" Remember how I said we watched 2 TV shows and part of the news? All in 35 minutes? Yeah, sure, okay. I then just told her that I was NOT paying for it. That's when SHE THREATENED TO CALL THE COPS ON ME....for being extremely dissatisfied with how long we had to wait, and then the quality of the food. Can you believe that? I couldn't! Long story short, after arguing for about 15 minutes, they offer for us to just pay for his pizza and drinks. We do it, just to get out of that degenerate hell hole. I have given them a ton of business in the past. Mostly just drinking, so I had never dealt with anything like this. This is how they treat their repeat customers! They could've handled this differently and kept me as a repeat customer (probably forever), but because of how they acted, I will never set foot in here again and I would advise everyone else to do the same! If you're in Three Oaks, go to Nelson's Saloon (18 N. Elm Street) and see Dave for a great burger. read more
